The launch of NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in NBA 2K27 is only a small part of the DLSS games and updates arriving this month. Headlining the list of games is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, which was officially unveiled during this year's gamescom Opening Night Live, but even previously released games such as 007 First Light are set to receive significant visual upgrades. Besides these two games, Honeycomb: The World Beyond, WARDOGS, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Active Matter, and Aniimo all come with NVIDIA DLSS support, specifically for Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation. Switch 2βs second year isnβt just going to be busy. Itβs going to be a scheduling nightmare, and I mean that as a compliment.
Back when CD Projekt Red upgraded The Witcher 3 for next-gen consoles, it paid a bunch of modders for their work in order to implement their creations into the official game. Now, it appears that CD Projekt Red has gone a step further for The Witcher 3 Remastered, hiring the creator of The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project to help create new assets for the game.
In a post shared on the Nexus Mods forum, Witcher 3 HD Reworked creator, HalkHogan, confirmed that they worked with CD Projekt Red on The Witcher 3 Remastered to create even better assets for the new version of the game.
βItβs been a while since the last news and I would like to clarify any questions and confirm that I am cooperating with CDPR on the Witcher 3 Remaster and my work will be officially available in the game on September 29th (on PC and consoles), HDRP will no longer be neededβ, HalkHogan stated.
βAlmost all in-game characters, monsters, animals, vegetation, armors and equipment for Geralt & Roach, and a large part of the environment have been reworked and Iβve put a lot of effort into ensuring the highest qualityβ.
It sounds like The Witcher 3 Remastered won't just use the mod, but will use even higher quality assets, using the HDRP modification as a baseline, and then touching things up from there. However, the mod will still be available to download for those who choose to play the original version of the game over the remaster.
Aside from new textures and other assets, CD Projekt Red has also implemented all-new visual effects and animations to make the remaster stand out. Path Traced lighting effects will also be available in the PC version of the game, and beyond graphics, there are a number of mechanical adjustments to make movement, traversal and horse riding smoother.
KitGuru Says: The Witcher 3 Remastered is not far off, with just a few weeks to go until we can play it for ourselves. Will you be jumping back into the game for another run when the remaster drops?
The Witcher 3 Remastered is coming out in just one month's time, bringing overhauled graphics, new visual effects, Path Tracing and more. Due to the overhaul, the new version of the game will have a different set of PC system requirements compared to the 2015 release. Now, CD Projekt Red has revealed the new minimum and recommended system requirements for the game.Β
While The Witcher 3 Remastered will look a lot better than even the next-gen upgrade from a few years ago, the game won't be eating up all your storage space. The game will require just 70GB to install, a figure that includes both of the game's original expansions. In an era where many smaller single-player games are now demanding over 100GB of storage, seeing a 70GB install is a breath of fresh air.
The new minimum PC system requirements for The Witcher 3 Remastered includes:
OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400
RAM: 12GB
GPU: RX 5500 XT or Arc A580 or GTX 1660
The recommended system requirements are:
OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i7-8700K
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Arc B580 or RX 6600XT or RTX 2060 Super
The Witcher 3 Remastered will launch on the 28th of September as a free upgrade for all owners of the original game across PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. If you never purchased the original expansions, the remaster will now give you them for free. Then, in 2027, a brand-new expansion is dropping, adding a whole new region to the game and expanding on the friendship between Geralt and Dandelion β you'll have to pay for the new expansion though.
KitGuru Says: Are you looking forward to The Witcher 3 Remastered?Β
Eleven years. Thatβs how long weβve waited since Blood and Wine, and CD Projekt just ended the wait in the best way possible.
At Gamescomβs Opening Night Live, CD Projekt dropped the full reveal of The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, a new expansion built to bridge the gap between Wild Hunt and The Witcher 4. The CG trailer alone was enough to steal the show, and honestly, it deserved to.
Geralt is back, with Doug Cockle returning to voice him, in an all-original story that CD Projekt is treating as a proper event. Thereβs even a playable demo on the Gamescom show floor, one of the biggest exhibits at the whole show, so attendees donβt just get to watch this one, they get to play it.
Songs of the Past had been rumoured for months, with whispers of development going back to mid-2025. Piecing it together while juggling other projects clearly took time, but from what CD Projekt showed, it looks like the wait paid off.
The Witcher 3 Remastered Is Coming Too
CD Projekt didnβt stop at one Witcher reveal. The Witcher 3 Remastered is landing September 29th, and itβs free for anyone who already owns the game. A full overhaul of one of the best RPGs ever made, at no extra cost, is about as good a deal as gaming gets.
Two Witcher 3 announcements in one showcase. Not bad for a game that was supposedly done and dusted years ago.
Fabletownβs getting a fresh coat of paint, and we finally know when. The Wolf Among Us Remastered arrives October 29, 2026, on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, plus PS5, Xbox, and Switch.
Telltale confirmed the date with a new gameplay trailer during Gamescom 2026 week, following the gameβs reveal at Summer Games Fest earlier this year. If youβve never played it, youβre Bigby Wolf, sheriff of a hidden fairy-tale community, trying to solve a murder while keeping the peace between characters whoβd rather claw each otherβs throats out.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered β Official Release Date Trailer
Whatβs actually new in The Wolf Among Us Remaster
This isnβt just an upscale job. Telltale is promising sharper visuals, better performance, an updated interface, and accessibility improvements, alongside upgraded animation, audio, resolution, and framerate. Thereβs also a new Noir Mode for anyone who wants their fairy-tale murder mystery looking even moodier than it already does.
Telltale is also throwing in over an hour of bonus content: behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. For a game thatβs over a decade old, thatβs a decent reason to actually stick around after the credits roll rather than just replaying the murder investigation on autopilot.
October 29 is close enough now that itβs basically a formality. The Big Bad Wolf is back on the beat.
Geoff Keighley wasnβt lying when he said there was βa lot of great stuffβ this year. Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 just wrapped, and it threw out one of the densest reveal lists in the showβs history, headlined by a genuinely stunning surprise: a free Witcher 3 remaster.
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026
The big reveals during Gamescom Opening Night Live
CD Projektβs The Witcher 3 Remastered is the story of the night. Itβs a free upgrade for anyone who already owns the game, landing September 29, 2026. CDPR also dropped a new expansion, Songs of the Past, due in 2027, and made the two existing expansions free immediately. Geralt clearly isnβt done yet.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation got a fresh trailer confirming a spring 2027 window, with director Naoki Hamaguchi showing off the returning Weapons as reimagined boss fights, a new Typhon summon, and the FITS outfit system for Cloud and Tifa.
Crimson Desert quietly rebranded itself Crimson Desert Enhanced with a 2.0 update adding new story content. I havenβt touched it in weeks, so consider this my nudge back in.
Big-Name Sequels and Spinoffs

Silent Hill: Townfall β cast confirmed, including Jovan Adepo and Terry OβQuinn

New games worth watching out for
HoYoverse threw a curveball with Nodus Fall, a Monster Hunter meets Elden Ring style project, a big departure from Genshin territory. Paradox debuted Afterworld, a post-apocalyptic American grand strategy game, while Frictional Games (the Amnesia team) unveiled Ontos, starring Stellan SkarsgΓ₯rd and, apparently, a lot of rats.
Also new: Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, Exodus (April 7, 2027), Tarae: The Unbound, The Defiant (a WWII shooter set in Chinaβs war against Japan), and PUBG: DED.NET, a darker 90s-set PvP spin-off.

It turns out that The Witcher 3's appearance at Gamescom Opening Night Live was a double header. Not only did we get our first look at the new Songs of the Past expansion, but CD Projekt Red also announced a free remaster for the original game, coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox consoles.Β
In The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, we will indeed be exploring a brand-new region, which is huge, as previous rumours had us thinking that the new questline would be set in Velen, a region we've all already thoroughly explored during the base game and Hearts of Stone expansion.
Not only are we getting the new expansion, but CD Projekt Red has also gone back and remastered the original game, with improved graphics, a completely revamped skill tree, upgraded monster AI, new combat finishers, new Witcher Sign effects, revamped traversal mechanics (including a revamp of Roach to make horse rising smoother), and much more.
Graphically, the game now looks a lot closer to the original E3 2014 demo, which had a higher level of fidelity compared to the launch version of the game β something that proved quite controversial at the time, but not controversial enough to detract from how great the game was overall.
The remaster will be sent out as a free upgrade for all owners of the original game on current-gen platforms, available starting on the 29th of September. Better yet, if you own the base game but never picked up the expansion, then Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine will now be given to you for free. However, you will have to put some money down for the new Songs of the Past expansion.
The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past is coming out in 2027, but we don't have a final release date yet.
KitGuru Says: If you've been holding off on a new playthrough of The Witcher 3, then you should be very pleased with today's announcements. September 29th is the time to jump back in, giving you plenty of time to finish up the original game and expansions before Songs of the Past drops.Β
Following last year's release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, Bethesda has now launched The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2. As the game still doesn't run as well as it should on the other platforms due to the demanding Unreal Engine 5 that handles the remastered visuals, many were worried the Nintendo Switch 2 would not be a good port, but a new comparison video highlights how NVIDIA DLSS is, once again, the system's secret weapon to deliver image quality higher than the Xbox Series S and solid performance, thanks to [β¦]
Fallout 3 RemasteredΒ has been a known entity for quite some time, thanks to leaked FTC v. Microsoft court documentation, retailer listings, and alleged leaked gameplay, but it was only recently, with official confirmation straight from Bethesda, that fans of the post-apocalyptic RPG series could start getting excited for the return to theΒ Capital Wasteland. In a new interview with The Examined Game, former Bethesda artist Nate Purkeypile - who worked on the original 2008 title as a World and Lighting Artist, as well as Lead Artist for expansions like Point Lookout - provided a few more reasons why fans should get [β¦]
Fallout 3 Remastered has long been one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming. Originally revealed via a FTC hearing concerning Xboxβs acquisition of Activision Blizzard, subsequent retail toy listings have repeatedly suggested that the project is actively in the works for PC and modern consoles. While an official announcement from Bethesda has yet to be made, footage of the project is seemingly circulating, as recently revealed by veteran games journalist Jeff Gerstmann. "In fact, someone else has put in quite a lot of work into a Fallout 3 remake that has yet to officially materialize," the journalist said during the [β¦]
As they did with the original Switch, Bethesda has been slowly but surely bringing its games over to the Nintendo Switch 2, with the likes of Fallout 4 and Skyrim already available on the console makerβs latest system. One promised title which has yet to release however is The Elder Scrolls VI: Oblivion Remastered. Announced previously to be coming some time this year, the UE5-based remake has now gotten a full Switch 2 release date.
Earlier this year during Nintendoβs Partner Direct showcase, Bethesda Softworks announced that a number of its previously-published games would be getting bespoke Switch 2 versions. These included Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle β both of which are available now to play.
As mentioned, Oblivion Remastered was also announced at the time, but no release date was provided. Finally however, Bethesda has officially confirmed that TES IV: Oblivion Remastered is coming to Switch 2 on the 11th of August.
The trailer only showed a bit of gameplay, and so it is tough to judge how the title will look and perform on the handheld. That said, given that Oblivion Remastered still suffers from performance issues on the likes of PS5, expect some roughness.
Ending on a positive note, it has now also been confirmed that the physical edition of Oblivion Remastered for Switch 2 will include all data on the cartridge β a welcome change compared to some of Microsoftβs other multi-platform releases.
Bohemia Interactive has marked 25 years since the release of Operation Flashpoint by announcing Arma: Cold War Assault Remastered. The announcement arrives alongside a free playable demo on Steam and the public release of the game's engine source code on GitHub.Β
For those unfamiliar with the history, Operation Flashpoint was the original title that launched the studio's military simulation lineage back in 2001. Following an internal split with Codemasters, the publisher kept the IP naming rights. Bohemia retained the engine and subsequently re-released the original game as Arma: Cold War Assault in 2011.
The remaster is built on the game's original Poseidon engine, which has been entirely rebuilt in modern C++. It is configured with CMake and Clang to run natively on 64-bit systems across Windows and Linux. The remaster introduces widescreen support and code updates to ensure better compatibility with modern PC hardware. While the full game's launch date has yet to be finalised, a self-contained slice of the experience is available via a free Steam demo.
The demo features the classic AI, vehicles, and dynamic mission systems that helped lay the foundation for the tactical military simulator genre.Beyond being a playable experience, Bohemia states the demo doubles as an official asset pack for the Arma modding community. Alongside the demo, Bohemia uploaded the engine source code to GitHub.The public repository includes comprehensive developer documentation, licensing terms, and a scripting reference guide.
KitGuru says: Opening up the source code of a genre-defining title after 25 years is a fantastic tribute to the community that kept it alive, and rebuilding the engine for modern 64-bit systems ensures its preservation for years to come.

Last week, a report from the ever-reliable Billbil-kun at Dealabs claimed that the PS Plus Essential games for April 2026 would be headlined by Lords of the Fallen (2023). Unsurprisingly, Billbil-kun was, as they have been several times before, exactly right, proven by today's official reveal that CI Games' 2023 reboot will indeed headline this month's titles ahead of Lords of the Fallen 2 releasing later this year. Alongside the Soulslike action RPG is a collection of three games rolled into one, with Tomb Raider I-III Remastered as one of the three titles available to all PS Plus subscribers, rounded [β¦]

In recent years weβve seen Remedy Entertainment going back to some of its previous releases in order to improve them technologically. Most notably, the team patched 2019βs Control last year adding proper HDR support; new ultra ray tracing presets; 10bit colour and much more. Now, Alan Wake Remastered is seeing a similar treatment β bringing tons of welcome additions.
Releasing the patch notes via their blog, the team at Remedy Entertainment detailed Alan Wake Remasteredβs surprise update. Available now on PC, patch 1.33 brings both expected and welcome improvements, including but not limited to:
Camera improvements
Vegetation animation improvements
Weapon swap refinements
Full HDR support
New βModernβ camera mode
Maximum FPS increased to 240 (was 200 previously)
DLSS improvements
10bit colour support
More accurate FOV scaling
More dynamic ultrawide support
Other miscellaneous refinements
Of course, the most immediately notable enhancement will be the addition of 10bit colour and full HDR support, making the gameβs distinct colour palette more pleasing in both light and dark areas. Of course, for those with an ultrawide monitor, this update is also pretty vital.
KitGuru says: What do you think of this surprise update? Will you be replaying Alan Wake Remastered? Which of the above additions do you think is the biggest deal? Let us know down below.
Remedy has delivered a new update for Alan Wake Remastered on PC, and it is arguably one of the most significant updates the game has received in a long time, because this update finally adds HDR to the PC version. The addition of HDR is the big highlight, but it's not the only one in terms of visuals and some much-needed quality of life updates. For speedrunners and anyone who simply loves the game and is playing it again for the umpteenth time, you can now skip the intro cutscene to get into the game faster. Not that Alan Wake [β¦]
