Geoff Keighley wasn’t lying when he said there was β€œa lot of great stuff” this year. Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 just wrapped, and it threw out one of the densest reveal lists in the show’s history, headlined by a genuinely stunning surprise: a free Witcher 3 remaster.

The big reveals during Gamescom Opening Night Live

CD Projekt’s The Witcher 3 Remastered is the story of the night. It’s a free upgrade for anyone who already owns the game, landing September 29, 2026. CDPR also dropped a new expansion, Songs of the Past, due in 2027, and made the two existing expansions free immediately. Geralt clearly isn’t done yet.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation got a fresh trailer confirming a spring 2027 window, with director Naoki Hamaguchi showing off the returning Weapons as reimagined boss fights, a new Typhon summon, and the FITS outfit system for Cloud and Tifa.

Crimson Desert quietly rebranded itself Crimson Desert Enhanced with a 2.0 update adding new story content. I haven’t touched it in weeks, so consider this my nudge back in.

New games worth watching out for

HoYoverse threw a curveball with Nodus Fall, a Monster Hunter meets Elden Ring style project, a big departure from Genshin territory. Also new: Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, Exodus (April 7, 2027), Tarae: The Unbound, The Defiant (a WWII shooter set in China’s war against Japan), and PUBG: DED.NET, a darker 90s-set PvP spin-off.

Following the launch of the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f, the survival-horror series by KONAMI has finally returned to the spotlight after long years of absence. The series' revival will continue next month with Silent Hill: Townfall, a first-person game that promises to deliver everything the series is loved for in the first entry in the franchise set in Europe. Earlier today, KONAMI, publisher Annapurna Interactive, and developer Screen Burn Interactive shared on YouTube a new trailer that is more of a proper showcase, as its 18-minute duration provides a rather good look at the game's haunting […]

Simon Orderll is looking at a device in his hands on a foggy, dimly lit street with the text 'SILENT HILL: Townfall' prominently displayed.

Silent Hill: Townfall is a full-length, standalone psychological-horror spin-off entry developed by Glasgow-based Screen Burn (formerly known as No Code) and co-published by KONAMI and Annapurna Interactive. Townfall introduces several major shifts to Silent Hill, starting with a first-person perspective and the Scottish setting of St. Amelia, an isolated island town shrouded in fog, trauma, and a troubling past. The project was first unveiled during KONAMI's October 2022 Silent Hill Transmission (which also announced the Silent Hill 2 remake). Back then, the studio was still known as No Code, but it later renamed itself Screen Burn. The team has a […]
