KyTyPS5 hits 30 FPS on Demon’s Souls Remake emulation

By: Aftab Ali
14 September 2026 at 08:35

Yesterday KyTyPS5 was stuck at 18 FPS on Demon’s Souls Remake. Today it hit 30. That’s not a small bump, that’s a whole day closing a gap that usually takes emulator projects months.

Third milestone in record time

Booting the game was milestone one. Getting in-game was two. Briefly holding 30 FPS is three, and YouTuber PSXTech has the footage to prove it, at least in one specific area of the game.

Demon’s Souls Remake – 30 FPS on KyTyPS5 Emulator

Creds – PSXTech

Move the camera, and it drops straight back to 18 FPS with framepacing issues thrown in. So this is proof of progress, not proof of a playable Demon’s Souls build. PSXTech hasn’t shared their PC specs either, so nobody knows what hardware got them there.

Here’s the bit people are dancing around: this reportedly used AI-assisted coding, and no, that doesn’t make it less impressive. If a tool can drag an emulator from unplayable to nearly 30 FPS in 24 hours instead of 24 months, that’s worth paying attention to. RPCS3 and shadPS4 ground their way there over years. KyTyPS5 is trying to skip the queue entirely.

The build PSXTech used isn’t public. Only the older release is on GitHub. The moment the new one lands, so does our next update.

Surprise update brings dedicated servers to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on PlayStation

14 September 2026 at 14:00

In a surprise announcement a couple months ago, Activision unveiled and subsequently released the 7th-gen classics Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 onto modern PlayStation hardware. While relatively basic ports, both titles have received a welcome number of improvements. In an update which no one was expecting however, Black Ops 2 is now officially running on dedicated servers.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the official Call of Duty Updates page unveiled the latest patch for Black Ops 2 on PS4/5. Alongside a couple quality-of-life improvements such as UI and custom emblem fixes, the team revealed that BO2 now runs entirely on dedicated servers “for improved match stability and security.”

Black Ops 2 Call of Duty

For the uninitiated, up until around 2013’s COD Ghosts, Call of Duty’s multiplayer operated on peer-to-peer connections, meaning one player would host the match. Not only did this lead to less-than-stable experiences (owing to the fact that it relied on players’ internet), but was also the cause of the infamous “migrating host server” message which plagued older entries.

Another major issue which should hopefully be solved by these dedicated servers is the abundance of cheating which has occurred across both BO1 and 2 since their PS4/5 arrivals.

As of now, Black Ops 1 has yet to receive such an enhancement. That said, given the cadence of updates released so far, we can expect the switch over to happen sooner rather than later.

KitGuru says: Are you excited to see dedicated servers added? How has matchmaking been for you since it went live? What other improvements would you like to see introduced next? Let us know down below.

PS5 Emulation Is Moving Faster Than Anyone Expected, and the “No Single-Player PC Ports” Policy Makes That Awkward for Sony

12 September 2026 at 12:30

A warrior in armor stands with a sword and shield before a large castle, surrounded by skeletal enemies, with a dragon flying overhead in the video game Demon's Souls Remake, on the PS5 emulator KyTyPS5.

Just a few days ago, we covered PlayStation 5 emulator KyTyPS5 getting Grand Theft Auto V running, and raised the half-joking possibility that Grand Theft Auto VI might end up playable on PC through emulation before Rockstar ships an official port. That timeline now looks a bit less outlandish in light of the emulator's latest advancements. As reported by DSOGaming, the emulator has gone from running Bluepoint's Demon's Souls Remake at 2 FPS to somewhere between 10 and 18 FPS in the space of a single release. That's an 800% improvement, and it isn't a typo. Demon's Souls isn't alone, […]

Marvel’s Wolverine Review: Insomniac Trades Spider-Man’s Open World for a Linear, Rage-Fueled Slaughterhouse, and It Mostly Works

10 September 2026 at 15:00

Wolverine engages in combat with multiple armed opponents in an action scene from the game 'Marvel's Wolverine.'

It's no secret that Marvel's Wolverine holds Sony's biggest hopes among its first-party releases this year. Bungie's Marathon and Housemarque's Saros have both already largely underwhelmed, albeit for different reasons and with different outcomes. After Wolverine, the only other Sony-published release due in 2026 is Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition, which, however, is unlikely to make a major splash given that it's just a full edition of a game already released last year, adding the new Echoes of Sekigahara expansion that will also be available as a separate purchase. It all rests on the shoulders of Insomniac Games, then. The Californian […]

Marvel’s Wolverine is launching to disappointing reviews

10 September 2026 at 15:30

Reviews for Marvel’s Wolverine have gone live, and early impressions suggest the long wait hasn’t quite paid off. While the game delivers strong combat and polished cinematics, critics say the overall experience is held back by highly linear design, repetitive encounters and a UI that refuses to let players get lost.

Marvel’s Wolverine is currently sitting at a 77 on Metacritic and an 81 on OpenCritic. As usual, these numbers will shift as more outlets publish reviews, and there are no user scores yet with the game still a week away from release.

Wolverine Pre-order

Across the board, critics generally agree that Insomniac has nailed the fundamentals, combat feels weighty, animations are sharp and the cinematic presentation is strong. The problem is everything wrapped around those strengths. The game’s level design is described as narrow and unadventurous, with enemy variety failing to evolve enough to support the full runtime. Several reviewers also point to the UI as a major contributor to the game’s overly guided feel, thanks to visible scent trails, objective markers and the usual white paint and blinking lights combining to create an experience where exploration rarely matters.

The end result, based on early consensus, is a game that plays well moment‑to‑moment but doesn’t offer much freedom or discovery.

Marvel's Wolverine will officially launch on September 15th. Unlike the Spider-Man games, Wolverine is going to remain exclusive to PS5 consoles, but if sales take a hit, we may see Sony buckle on this to recoup investment.

KitGuru Says: These scores may shift as more reviews land, but typically, we see review scores going down slightly over time, rather than creeping up. User reviews and critic reviews often have very different scores though, so we'll have a clearer picture of how well Wolverine landed with the masses next week.

Forza Horizon 6 is still coming to PS5 this year, claims Playground Games

8 September 2026 at 10:30

While fans on Xbox and PC have been enjoying Playground Games’ latest and greatest Forza Horizon 6 for quite a few months now, those on PlayStation remain waiting for an official and concrete release date. Following reports from insiders who claimed that FH6 might not make it to PlayStation this year, Playground Games themselves have now reaffirmed its 2026 launch.

Back when Forza Horizon 6 was first shown off, the game was confirmed to be coming to Sony’s PlayStation 5 sometime following its May release on Xbox / PC, but before the end of 2026.

In the months since, Microsoft’s Xbox strategy has shifted quite a bit, with the console maker retreating somewhat back towards an ‘exclusivity’ mindset – with the likes of Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution being permanent console exclusives.

With the state of Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 being in limbo, one known insider suggested that the title might not make it to Sony’s system before the end of 2026.

Forza PlayStation

As part of the team’s latest blog post celebrating ‘British Automotive in Forza Horizon 6’ Playground Games made note of the fact that the PS5 launch is still going according to plan, writing:

“If you’re planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your Wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability.”

Though we have yet to get any further – more concrete – details, it is clear that Playground Games are confident that they will be able to publish the PlayStation version on time.

When exactly this will be, we will have to wait and see. The final few months of 2026 looks set to be jam packed with major releases, and so the window of opportunity remains quite tight.

KitGuru says: Have you been waiting for Forza Horizon 6 to come to PS5? Do you reckon it’ll launch before or after GTA VI? Let us know down below.

Sony and Microsoft may be forced to go all‑digital next‑gen as disc drive components disappear

7 September 2026 at 16:00

As Sony and Microsoft prepare for next‑gen hardware, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that either company will be able to offer disc drives, even as optional add‑ons, regardless of whether they actually want to. It has come to light that the supply chain for disc drives themselves is going extinct.

Earlier this year, Sony confirmed plans to go all‑digital for future PlayStation releases. As part of that transition, the factory responsible for manufacturing physical PS5 game discs began re‑tooling itself for an entirely different product line, backed by new investment from Sony.

Now, a new report from Windows Central indicates that the supply chain behind optical disc drives themselves is also collapsing. According their industry sources, the few remaining companies still producing the specialised components required for disc drives are pivoting to other markets. As these components become less common, the cost of manufacturing disc drives rises sharply. Digital Foundry later corroborated this in a recent podcast, explaining that the component shortage has reached a point where producing drives at scale is becoming increasingly impractical.

This creates a major problem for anyone hoping physical media will remain an option. Even if Sony or Microsoft wanted to offer disc drives for their next consoles, the cost of sourcing the necessary parts could push the price of a drive up by hundreds of dollars. At one point, disc drives were cheap, near‑commodity components for both PCs and consoles. Today, they are niche hardware with shrinking manufacturing support, making them far more expensive to produce.

Physical media has already been struggling on the software side. As we reported recently, a study from Does It Play found that only 66 percent of PS5 discs work fully offline, while just 50 percent of Xbox Series X/S discs function without mandatory downloads.

Between disc manufacturing winding down and disc drive components becoming prohibitively expensive, the future of physical media is being squeezed from both ends. Even if platform holders wanted to keep discs alive, the supply chain may simply make that impossible, and any attempt to preserve physical support would likely result in higher hardware prices for consumers.

KitGuru Says: Physical media has been under pressure for years, but the supply chain issues emerging now make the situation far more complicated. Even if Sony or Microsoft wanted to keep disc drives around, doing so may soon be too costly to justify. If the next-gen Xbox or PlayStation had a disc-drive edition, but it cost $200-$300 more, would consumers be willing to pay that extra cash?

Sony is reportedly reviving Killzone

7 September 2026 at 15:30

Sony has spent years trying to force new live‑service games into its first‑party lineup, leading to short‑lived projects like Concord and cancelled multiplayer spin‑offs for God of War and The Last of Us. Now, Sony finally appears to be turning its multiplayer efforts toward a franchise that actually makes sense – Killzone.

According to a new report from MP1st, a new Killzone game is in the very early stages of development. Guerrilla Games is said to be overseeing the project, while an external studio handles the bulk of development work. This setup should allow Guerrilla to continue focusing on its other ongoing titles, including Horizon Hunters Gathering, a project currently eating up most of Guerrilla's resources, leading to a lengthy delay for Horizon 3.

Killzone built up a respectable following during the mid‑2000s, but the series was eventually overshadowed by Halo and Call of Duty. The last major entry, Killzone: Shadow Fall, launched alongside the PS4 back in 2013. While the game received positive reviews and maintained an active multiplayer community for years, Sony ultimately left the franchise dormant for more than a decade.

For now, we don't know who Sony has seemingly partnered up with for the Killzone revival. However, People Can Fly, the studio behind Outriders, was previously announced as collaborating with Sony on a new project for an existing PlayStation franchise, so Killzone could very well be that secret game.

KitGuru Says: Killzone returning makes far more sense than some of Sony's other live-service bets in recent years. While prior titles were a little more single-player focused, I would expect a revamped Killzone to have more of a multiplayer focus to it.

Insider reiterates that Marvel’s Venom is still in development

7 September 2026 at 12:15

Amongst Sony's many different first-party PlayStation Studios, Insomniac Games is one of the most transparent – not only due to the sheer rate at which they have released high quality games – but also thanks to an unfortunate data breach which leaked roughly a decade worth of plans. Included in these leaks were details on a Venom-led spin-off. Though yet to be officially announced, insiders have claimed that the project is still in the works.

Marvel’s Venom has been somewhat of a known quantity for quite some time. Of course, the villain was featured in 2023’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but thanks to the infamous Insomniac Games data breach we learned that a Venom-focused spin-off was also in the works.

While yet to be officially announced by Sony themselves (and further complicated by the unfortunate passing of Venom voice actor Tony Todd), insiders have continued to claim that the project is still in the works.

With Marvel’s Wolverine a little over a week from release, talk surrounding what’s next in store for Insomniac has started to bubble up once again.

Insomniac Spider-Man

Responding to one user who asked for an update on the as-of-yet-unconfirmed Venom project, known industry insider NateTheHate (also known as NateDrake) claimed: “Venom is very much still in development upon last check. As to when it'll be announced, I don't know.”

As mentioned, the unfortunate passing of Tony Todd back in 2024 reportedly did put a bit of a pause on development of this Venom spin-off, but did not lead to its cancellation.

For the uninitiated, 2023’s Spider-Man 2 was apparently initially intended to feature far more of Venom than what was seen in the final product, with Tony Todd himself claiming at the time that 90% of his recorded lines ultimately did not make its way into the game.

Given this, it is safe to assume that much of what was recorded will be repurposed for the Venom project. Regardless, assuming the game is real, hopefully it manages to do justice to Tony Todd.

Overly-ambitious PC-exclusive Samson is coming to consoles alongside update

7 September 2026 at 11:30

Every so often there comes a game which presents a great deal of ambition, only for the title to eventually succumb to its own limitations. Such was the case with Samson – a self-published semi-open world action adventure title featuring hand-to-hand combat, vehicle racing and a system in which you try to erase your debts before it’s too late. Launching on PC to mixed reviews earlier this year, Samson is now officially coming to consoles alongside a bunch of promised improvements.

Making the official announcement, the team at Liquid Swords confirmed that Samson will be coming to consoles in just a few weeks’ time on the 21st of September. As mentioned, the game’s initial launch left plenty to be desired, with its PC release currently sitting at a less-than-stellar ‘Mixed’ reception on Steam.

That said, the game itself did have some promise, and so in an effort to build upon the original release, the team have confirmed that Samson’s console launch will arrive alongside a suite of new additions.

Samson Consoles

Unfortunately, we did not get any specifics, though the team have promised to “announce our next content update soon” stating “we are also adding a bunch of new, exciting things in the PC version of the game – representing arguably our biggest update so far.”

While much of what was shared is rather vague, Liquid Swords do appear committed to the project, claiming that “We have plenty of ideas for how Tyndalston and Samson could grow” while also confirming “additional story content is among the ideas we are exploring.”

Full details on the upcoming console release, including target framerates, can be found HERE.

Sony announces limited edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense controllers

4 September 2026 at 10:30

Grand Theft Auto VI is nearly upon us, with the globally anticipated title set to launch on the 19th of November. In ‘celebration’ of this major industry event, Sony has announced and unveiled a set of new limited edition GTA VI themed DualSense controllers to “capture the style and luxury of Vice City.”

Taking to the PlayStation Blog, Sony officially announced and detailed their upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI themed Limited-Edition DualSense controllers.

Coming in both black and white, the controller features embossed palm tree textures alongside “a shimmering, color-shifting finish that brings together the hues of a Vice City sunset and the glow of neon lights.”

Grand Theft Auto DualSense

Being sold primarily through Sony’s PlayStation Direct marketplace, these controllers will be available to pre-order from the 10th of September for the not-so-insignificant cost of £74.99 – officially launching on the same day at GTA VI: 19th of November.

As with everything GTA VI related, these accessories are likely to be in quite high demand, especially given the fact that these controllers are rather attractive (which can’t be said for some of Sony’s other DualSense designs). Additional details can be found HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of these designs? Are you tempted to pick one up? Let us know down below.

Saros to get Boss Rush and New Game+ modes with upcoming ‘Zenith’ update

4 September 2026 at 09:30

As with many of PlayStation’s first party studios, Housemarque are known for supporting their titles with pretty major – yet free – updates. With regards to Returnal, the studio added a whole new side mode; co-op multiplayer; visual improvements and more. Taking a similar path, Housemarque’s Saros is getting its own suite of exciting updates.

Making the announcement during the console maker’s most recent State of Play, PlayStation officially showed off and detailed “Zenith, the next big free content update to SAROS.”

Set to go live some time later this year, the free update will introduce a bunch of new modes and quality-of-life features, including:

  • Overlord Rush (boss rush with global leaderboards)
  • Eclipse Layers (New Game Plus mode featuring more progression options, new Carcosan Modifiers and other “secrets”)
  • Additional accessibility options (gyro-aiming; game speed; high contrast visuals)

Already a fun and replayable experience, the upcoming Zenith update will give players even more reason to hop back into Saros. It will be interesting to see whether this update helps to draw in more players.

KitGuru says: Have you picked up Saros yet? What do you think of this update? How does it compare to Returnal’s Ascension update? Let us know down below.

Until Dawn 2 officially arrives January 2027

4 September 2026 at 08:30

While Sony’s 2024 remake of the Supermassive Games classic ‘Until Dawn’ did not quite make the splash that the console maker had been hoping for, it appeared to be merely part of a greater plan. Following its announcement earlier this Summer, PlayStation have now confirmed that Until Dawn 2 will officially arrive early next year in January 2027.

Releasing a new trailer during their most recent State of Play, PlayStation confirmed that Until Dawn 2 will be released sooner than many expected – officially set to drop on the 28th of January 2027.

While a brief look, the trailer did offer a glimpse into the many different choices and consequences which one could make. Of course, with games such as these, it’s about more than just short-term decisions, and so we will have to wait and see how comprehensive these choices wind up being.

As mentioned, the original 2015 Until Dawn was developed by Supermassive Games, with its sequel instead being helmed by the relatively unknown Firesprite.

That said, the team made sure to note that “We've partnered with our friends at AdHoc Studio – the brilliant minds behind the acclaimed Dispatch – so you can expect a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths.”

The original Until Dawn was somewhat of a lightning in a bottle, with Supermassive Games themselves being unable to recapture the magic in the years since. Hopefully Firesprite and AdHoc can do the original justice.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Until Dawn 2 so far? Are you a fan of Dispatch’s narrative? What’s your favourite choice-based adventure game of all time? Let us know down below.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet hits new development milestone

3 September 2026 at 10:00

Officially unveiled back in late 2024, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the next game from industry giants Naughty Dog – serving as the studio’s first new IP since 2013’s The Last of Us. While we have yet to receive anything more than the initial teaser trailer, Naughty Dog may be gearing up for some impending reveals; with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet officially hitting a new major development milestone.

Taking to BlueSky to make the announcement, the official Naughty Dog page published the following: “‘See you, space cowboy…’ That is a wrap on the very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot! This cast killed it! Cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right!.”

Of course, while the actual game aspect of Intergalactic is what matters most, Naughty Dog’s titles are known for their abundance of high quality cutscenes and mo-cap making this latest announcement certainly worthy of note.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Naughty

Additionally, though it differs from team-to-team, motion capture and cinematics are typically completed later into a game’s production cycle, suggesting that Intergalactic could be a solid way through its development.

As mentioned, we’ve seen and heard little from the project since its initial 2024 unveiling. That said, insiders have claimed in the past that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is targeting a 2027 release. Assuming this to be true, hopefully we will get to see more from the game sooner rather than later; perhaps during this year’s Game Awards?

Housemarque co-founder leaves studio after 31 years

1 September 2026 at 09:30

Though not quite a household name, Housemarque’s cache has risen greatly in recent years, thanks to their acquisition by PlayStation as well as the PS5 launches of both Returnal and Saros. Founded by Harri Tikkanen and Ilari Kuittinen back in 1995, the latter of the two has now officially announced his departure from Housemarque.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, Housemarque's co-founder Ilari Kuittinen wrote: “After 33 years in the games industry and 31 incredible years at Housemarque – the studio I co-founded with Harri Tikkanen – today marks my last day as a Housemarquean.”

The full statement includes plenty of pleasantries thanking fellow developers; friends; fans and the industry as a whole. In terms of how this affects the studio, plans were said to have been already put in place, with Sami Hakala officially taking on the role of Managing Director this past July.

Housemarque Kuittinen

While Saros failed to immediately push Housemarque to the mainstream, the studio has consistently released excellent titles over the past 30 years – culminating in two of their best and most ambitious projects. After 3 decades at the studio, Ilari Kuittinen has certainly earned a much-needed rest.

The creative concluded with the following: “Strive to be a better professional, and a better human being. Take care of each other, speak with courage, and keep pushing the boundaries of what games can be.”

Sony unveils and launches new ad-supported ‘Live TV’ app

1 September 2026 at 08:30

While its gaming segment makes up a major slice of Sony’s corporate pie, the console maker is of course quite familiar with other mediums including music, film and TV. Seemingly in an effort to synergise its services, Sony has now announced a new ad-supported ‘Live TV’ app for the PlayStation 5 – premiering in the US.

Taking to their blog to make the surprise announcement, Sony unveiled their new Live TV initiative for PS5, writing:

“Starting later today, Live TV on PS5 will be available to PS5 players in the U.S., offering a free ad-supported experience from Sony Pictures Television. Players can discover more than 100 live channels and a growing selection of on-demand entertainment including news, sports, movies, TV shows, anime and more – all from the Media section of the PS5 console.”

Live TV Sony

As mentioned, this program is currently only running in the US. For those who do reside in the region however, the app should already be listed under the ‘Media Tab’ on your console.

Though a full line-up of channels has not been shared, Live TV will include seemingly everything from weather to Anime; reality TV to ‘prestige’ shows; sports; podcasts; documentaries and more.

Live TV is currently live in the US, with Sony stating that they are “looking to expand the experience to Canada and will continue to explore additional regions”. Full details on the service can be found HERE.

State of Play returns this week with new PS5 announcements

31 August 2026 at 15:00

Sony has announced that State of Play will return this week, and this time the company is airing two broadcasts back‑to‑back, offering updates from PlayStation Studios alongside a dedicated showcase for Japanese and Asian developers.

State of Play is Sony’s regular broadcast for new trailers and announcements heading to PlayStation platforms. Shows typically run for 20 to 40 minutes with non-stop trailers and very little downtime. This week’s event will be split into two parts, the main State of Play, followed immediately by a Japan‑focused stream.

The main State of Play will air on September 3rd, starting at 6am PT / 9am ET / 3pm CEST / 10pm JST. Sony says the broadcast will feature updates from PlayStation Studios and third‑party partners, concluding with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in Square Enix’s FF7 Remake trilogy.

Once the main show wraps, Sony will transition straight into State of Play Japan, hosted once again by Yuki Kaji. This second broadcast will offer deeper dives into upcoming titles from studios across Japan and Asia, including new gameplay segments and fresh announcements. The main State of Play will air in English with Japanese subtitles, while State of Play Japan will air in Japanese with English subtitles.

Considering the name, I'd expect we'll see more of Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen from Capcom during the State of Play Japan stream.

KitGuru Says: Aside from Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, we can expect Wolverine to be a significant part of this week's showcase. The game is just one month away from release after all, and after mixed reception to gameplay previews, Sony is going to need to start generating some more positive word of mouth.

Insider claims Forza Horizon 6 won’t be coming to PS5 this year

28 August 2026 at 10:30

Released for Xbox and PC earlier this year in May, Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 6 was announced to be coming to the PlayStation 5 some time in 2026. Since then however, we’ve heard little in the way of updates, with Microsoft seemingly shifting back towards Xbox console exclusivity. According to insiders, Forza Horizon 6 is still coming to PS5, albeit maybe not this year.

Back when Forza Horizon 6 was first shown off, the game was confirmed to be coming to Sony’s PlayStation 5 sometime following its May release on Xbox / PC, but before the end of 2026.

Since then however, Xbox as a whole has changed quite a bit, with Asha Sharma taking on the role of CEO; bringing the console maker back towards an ‘exclusive’ mentality – with the likes of Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution being permanent console exclusives.

This, combined with the relative lack of news on Forza’s PS5 launch, led some fans to wonder whether the game will still make it to Sony’s system.

Forza Horizon PS5

Taking to Twitter to offer some clarity, known industry insider Tom Warren stated: “I’m not expecting to see Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 in 2026”. Fortunately, it seems the port hasn’t been cancelled outright, with Warren adding that “it’s definitely still releasing.”

No reason was given for this supposed delay, and so it is unknown whether the decision was a technical one, or a matter of marketing for Xbox. Either way, it’s better late than never.

KitGuru says: Have you been enjoying Forza Horizon 6 these past few months? Why do you think the PS5 launch is coming later than expected? Let us know down below.

Dune: Awakening will receive cross-play support sometime after its console launch

27 August 2026 at 09:30

Dune: Awakening proved to be a hit when the survival-crafter MMO launched on PC last year. At the time it was confirmed that the title would eventually make its way to PS5 and Xbox – now set to officially launch next month on the 22nd of September. While the title will unfortunately not include support for cross-play from the get-go, the feature has been promised to arrive “post console launch.”

Taking to their blog to make the announcement in alignment with Gamescom, the Dune: Awakening team at Funcom offered a ton of new details pertaining to the upcoming PS5 and Xbox launches.

Being an Unreal Engine 5 game, there were some fears regarding how Dune: Awakening will perform on consoles, According to the studio, the PS5 release will offer two visual modes: Performance (running at a dynamic 4K and 60fps) and Quality (also operating at a dynamic 4K but limited to 30fps). PS5 Pro will offer similar options, albeit with “a higher native resolution in both modes, as well as enhanced visuals in Quality Mode.”

How the game will perform on Xbox remains to be seen, especially given the fact that Funcom previously expressed concerns with bringing Dune: Awakening to the Series S – calling it a “challenge.”

Dune: Awakening PS5

Perhaps more importantly however, the team confirmed that Dune: Awakening will be getting cross-play support some-time following the console launch, stating:

“We are excited to finally confirm that cross-play is coming to Dune: Awakening post console launch. Currently we are not ready to share a release date yet, but we will have more information to share as development progresses.
