GTA 6’s $80 Price Tag Doesn’t Set a New AAA Games Price Floor, But it Does “Widen the Gap Between the Haves and the Have-Nots,” Says Analyst

24 June 2026 at 19:06

A person with curly hair holds a martini glass and olives on a skewer, set against a colorful cityscape backdrop.

Back in November 2025, we got the information drop everyone was waiting for: the release date for GTA 6. Yes, it came packaged as a delay announcement, and there was technically no guarantee it would stick, but it ultimately has, as we finally got the other bit of information everyone has been waiting for today: how much Rockstar's long-awaited game would cost. $80 for the Standard Edition and $100 for the Ultimate Edition calmed fears that the barrier to entry for GTA 6 would start at $100, but now those same fears turn towards the rest of the video game […]

Titanfall-Like Movement Shooter Empulse Launches into Early Access Today on PC/Xbox Series, While PlayStation Certification Delays the PS5 Version

24 June 2026 at 18:04

Two characters with futuristic gear and weapons are dynamically positioned in front of a stylized background, with bold text reading 'Empulse' prominently displayed.

1047 Games, the studio known for making Splitgate and who are arguably more known for how its CEO Ian Proulx tried to make a statement at Summer Game Fest 2025 with a hat that fell flat, have just released their next game. No, it's not yet another iteration of Splitgate after 1047's attempt at Splitgate 2 failed drastically, it's instead a Titanfall-like movement shooter called Empulse, and it's available in early access now. 1047 Games teased Empulse earlier this year while capping off a developer update on Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, which was the final iteration of Splitgate 2 that the […]

Apple Inflated The Price Of Its Highest-End iPhone By 60% Over The Past Decade, While The US CPI Basket Grew By Just 37%, And Yet It’s Playing The Victim Now

24 June 2026 at 17:27

Apple CEO warns that it may be forced to increase prices of iPhones due to the DRAM shortage

It's hard to feel sorry for Apple these days even if its margins are in a vise-like squeeze, courtesy of the relentless increase in the price of memory chips. After all, over the past decade, Apple inflated the price of its flagship iPhone model by 60 percent, when the average CPI basket grew by just 37 percent. Memory makers are only giving Apple a taste of its own medicine Apple used to secure memory chips via 1-year or even longer contracts, winning hefty discounts relative to the prevailing market price of the time. Now, however, Apple negotiates memory prices quarterly, […]

Display Times, Frame Times, And The Truth About Smoothness

24 June 2026 at 17:21

A comparison chart titled 'Frame Times vs Display Times' shows fluctuating frame times in blue and stable display times in green.

In the world of PC gaming performance analysis, we tend to obsess over frame times, and for good reason. A simple average FPS number can be extremely misleading, while a frame time graph can immediately show you whether a game is delivering frames smoothly or whether it is suffering from stutters, hitches, CPU/platform bottlenecks, or other forms of inconsistent frame pacing. However, as useful as frame times are, there is one major problem with relying on them alone: they do not always tell us what the player actually sees on the monitor. This is especially important nowadays, as modern PC […]

Qualcomm Reportedly Helping China’s ByteDance With Custom Chip Design Services, Also Acquires Modular To Accelerate Its Unified Compute Strategy

24 June 2026 at 17:10

Qualcomm's Datacenter CPU Rumor Comes Just In Time As Agentic AI Goes In Hyperdrive Mode

Qualcomm is expanding its chip-design services to China as it is reportedly in early talks with ByteDance. China's ByteDance To Get Custom-Chip Design Assistance From Qualcomm As It Expands Its Revenue Beyond Smartphones Custom-chip designs are picking up momentum across the tech industry, and a report by Reuters suggests that Qualcomm might be assisting ByteDance, a leading Chinese firm, with chip-design services. Although the talks between Qualcomm and ByteDance are still early, if they succeed, then that would make ByteDance one of the first customers of Qualcomm's chip-design services. The move will also help Qualcomm diversify its revenue, breaking its […]

Bungie Details Marathon’s Full PvE Mode Vault Breaker as it Looks to Bring More Momentum to Season 2

24 June 2026 at 16:45

A character in 'Marathon' wearing a space suit jumps in front of a large spacecraft, with a planet visible in the background.

With Destiny 2 now fully in the rear view, the team at Bungie is full-steam ahead on Marathon, though that hasn't resulted in a sudden uptick in players swarming the extraction shooter. Season 2 is going about as well as Season 1, and despite its critical acclaim and a small dedicated core group of players, Marathon continues to struggle to attract the kinds of numbers multiplayer games are practically required to earn to find commercial success. But if Bungie can keep iterating and tweaking Marathon, it wouldn't be the first time, nor likely the last, that a multiplayer game found […]

Samsung Hands Qualcomm The Keys To Its Foldables, Sidelining Exynos 2600 In The US Galaxy Z Flip 8, While Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Sets Its Eyes On The Galaxy S27 Series

24 June 2026 at 15:47

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is displayed partially open, showcasing its large foldable screen with a leaf-like wallpaper, alongside a box featuring the 'Z Fold' branding.

Despite the substantial strides taken by Samsung LSI in designing a thermally stable Exynos 2600 chip and an even better Exynos 2700, courtesy of the all-new Side-by-Side (SbS) packaging and the Heat Path Block (HBP) heat sink, Samsung Mobile appears to be doubling down on its dual-chip strategy. A slew of anecdotal evidence suggests Samsung is giving Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 an outsized role within the upcoming foldables, including the Galaxy Z Flip 8, while reserving the lion's share of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6/Pro for the Galaxy S27 Series. Samsung's Exynos 2600 to power the Galaxy […]

Oxenfree Makers Night School Reveals its Latest Horror Title ‘Unhinged’ and it looks like Netflix is finally Levelling-Up its Game

24 June 2026 at 15:21

A person reaching for a glowing phone in a dark room with the text 'NETFLIX PRESENTS UNHINGED' and 'YOUR PHONE WON'T DIE BUT YOU MIGHT', along with 'PLAY ON NETFLIX | JUNE 30'.

When Netflix acquired Oxenfree developers Night School Studio, it seemed like the streaming company was starting to get serious about getting into the video game industry. What followed was unfortunately every indication against that, with layoffs at Night School and the shuttering of the triple-A team it spun up and attracted veteran talent for. Its games strategy has since been nothing but mobile iterations of some PC games or just straight-up mobile and party games, with the short-lived experimentation of interactive episodes like Black Mirror's Bandersnatch. Now, however, it seems like Netflix is levelling up its game, so to speak, […]

A character wielding a sword faces a flaming humanoid creature in a dark, fiery environment, suggesting a battle scene from God of War Laufey

Although God of War Laufey was the star of the June PlayStation State of Play, the impressive gameplay showcased lacked the most crucial information: the game's release window. "If you're a God of War Laufey, for example, you might look at the landscape and you might say, 'Hey, I […]
