Gears of War: E-Day Demands just 12GB RAM and an RTX 2060, Defying PC Players’ Worst Fears

14 June 2026 at 10:00

Marcus Fenix in 'Gears of War: E-Day' leaps towards an enemy in a battle scene set in a fiery, war-torn landscape.

The Coalition is undoubtedly one of the most technically proficient Unreal Engine developers, and they've shown that again with Gears of War: E-Day. Besides the impressive games the studio previously released, The Coalition regularly helps other Xbox teams that use Epic's engine, and they were also among the first to release not one but two Unreal Engine 5 demos: Alpha Point in 2021 and The Cavern in 2022. It certainly took a bit longer than expected to make Gears of War: E-Day, but now that it's almost here, the game looked visually stunning during the dedicated showcase that followed the […]

God of War Laufey, Resident Evil: Veronica, and Ocarina of Time Remake are Summer Game Fest 2026’s Big Winners

11 June 2026 at 15:18

A collage of video game characters, including a female warrior with orange hair, a sleeping elf-like child, a determined female face, an enraged Wolverine, and a gritty soldier, depicting a range of gaming themes.

Another Summer Game Fest has come and gone, though we're still feeling the ripple effects of everything that was just announced. Part of that comes in the form of looking at what resonated the most with players, and as part of a report from The Game Business, marketing analytics firm LevelUp has the answer for the games that garnered the most engagement from players and press, and none of the top-10 games are a surprise. That's because they're all big, triple-A juggernauts that would've been the most-talked-about games regardless of where they showed up. Not a single indie game broke […]

Gears of War: E-Day set for October launch as Xbox and PC exclusive

8 June 2026 at 14:00

Microsoft has announced that Gears of War: E-Day will launch on October 6th, 2026. While initially it seemed like this game may also come to PS5, it is now the first game in a renewed push from Microsoft to have console exclusives once again.Β

Xbox head Asha Sharma confirmed the game's exclusivity, making the decision to only bring the game to Xbox consoles, as well as PC via multiple storefronts. Clockwork Revolution, the next game from InXile, will also be an Xbox console exclusive, but the likes of Fable and Halo: Campaign Evolved will still come to PS5.

The new gameplay demo for Gears of War E-Day gives us an in-depth look at what to expect from the new game. As expected, the campaign will follow Marcus and Dominic as they begin to fight the Locust during their first arrival on Earth. Gameplay is supposed to be reminiscent of the original game, but with an important evolution on the cover system, allowing for more dynamic and interesting levels.

While the gameplay showcase primarily focused on the campaign, Gears of War E-Day is also going to ship with full multiplayer, including classic PvP modes, alongside a revamped co-op horde mode with support for up to 12-player matches. There will be an open beta for the multiplayer modes in August, so keep an eye out for that if you want to try before you buy.

Gears of War E-Day will be available for PC via Steam and the Xbox App / Windows Store, as well as on Xbox Series X/S consoles. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get full access to the game at launch.

KitGuru says: Are you planning on getting Gears of War E-Day when it drops? How important is the multiplayer support to you?Β

Xbox kicked off its Xbox Games Showcase 2026 with Gears of War: E-Day, to help tee up the specialized direct event the game would have after the showcase by revealing its October 6, 2026, release date and the fact that it would be an Xbox console exclusive, as was rumoured hours before the showcase. After seeing every major Xbox franchise make its way to PlayStation and in some cases, Nintendo, E-Day marks the return of Xbox console exclusives, though it's not entirely certain how far this new approach to exclusives stretches. We just saw Forza Horizon 6 arrive on PS5 […]

Asha Sharma’s New Big Xbox Call – Yank Gears of War: E-Day Off PS5 and Rebuild the Console Exclusivity Wall

7 June 2026 at 09:30

Marcus Fenix from the game Gears of War: E-Day with a focused expression, wearing a hat and illuminated armor.

Just a few hours ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, insider Jeff Grubb revealed during a Giant Bomb stream that The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day was supposed to launch on PlayStation 5 but won't anymore. I'll say it here. Gears of War: E-Day was going to be on PS5; it's not anymore. That just happened. Like, it's a decision that just got made. And it's like, they're going backwards on this stuff where they were like, this battle doesn't make any sense. Indeed, Microsoft had chosen to go fully multiplatform with many of its games. Gears of War: […]

Gears of War: E-Day Is Righting the Ship, Says Bleszinski; β€œYou’re Not Fighting Those Stupid Robots”

17 April 2026 at 11:45

Two armored characters from the game Gears of War: E-Day stand in front of a fiery background.

Cliff Bleszinski, the American game designer known primarily for his work on the Gears and Unreal franchises at Epic, shared his positive outlook on the upcoming prequel, Gears of War: E-Day. In a video interview with The Expansion Pass, the game developer highlights that The Coalition has made the right choice in focusing on making the Locust scary again, rather than presenting enemies like the DeeBees robots. Bleszinski added that he has high hopes for this game, which looks like a return to the original trilogy's dark tone that was a bit lost in Gears 4 and 5, and he […]
