Control Resonant will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 for 2 days

4 June 2026 at 09:45

One of the most anticipated upcoming titles for 2026 is Control Resonant, the sequel to Remedy Entertainment's highly-underrated action-adventure 3rd-person metroidvania-esque shooter from 2019. As with most major releases nowadays, Resonant will include 48 hours of Advanced Access to those who purchase the Deluxe Edition. In an unexpected twist however, this 2 days of Advanced Access is exclusive to PlayStation players, with everyone else needing to wait until the 24th of September to get in on the action.

As part of Sony's recent PlayStation State of Play, Control Resonant was shown off once again ahead of the game’s upcoming launch on the 24th of September. Curiously however, alongside the preview, Remedy revealed that those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will be privy to 48 hours of Advanced Access.

As mentioned, this practice has become somewhat commonplace in the industry, and so while disappointing, it wasn’t too unexpected. What was a surprise however was confirmation that this 48 hour period is exclusive to PS5 owners.

Control Resonant Advanced Access

Taking to Twitter to seek clarification, one fan asked Remedy’s communications director Thomas Puha: “Just wondering.. is the 48H early access exclusive to PS5?” to which they replied simply with “Yes.”

Given how big of a focus story and narrative is in Remedy's games, having 48 hours of advanced access on a single platform is somewhat troubling, and evokes memories of the 7th and 8th-gen timed-console exclusives – albeit with a far accelerated timeline.

Regardless, Control Resonant looks to be an excellent game worth playing irrespective of when it releases on your platform. Still, this does put a bit of a damper on things.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Advanced Access in general? Is this another step in the wrong direction? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Control Resonant Lands September 24, Crashing Into Silent Hill: Townfall and Onimusha in a 24-Hour AAA Pileup

2 June 2026 at 22:30

Dylan from Control Resonant in the PlayStation 'State of Play' event holds a massive hammer against a cityscape backdrop.

Remedy Entertainment confirmed the launch date of Control Resonant, their sequel to the acclaimed 2019 game, during today's State of Play event. Control Resonant will be released on Thursday, September 24, which means it will be available within 24 hours of two other big triple-A games: KONAMI and Screen Burn Interactive's Silent Hill: Townfall, and CAPCOM's Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The new trailer finally featured some voiceover from Jesse, even though Dylan will be the only playable character. It's a deliberate role reversal given that in the original Control, he was essentially the antagonist, a warped being under the Hiss's influence, responsible […]

Remedy has big plans for Control and Alan Wake under new CEO

27 May 2026 at 15:00

Remedy Entertainment hired a new CEO a while back. Now in one of his first interviews, he has expressed an interest in growing the audience for IP like Alan Wake and Control.

In an interview with The Game Business, Remedy's recently appointed CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, spoke a bit about plans to build on the studio's strong foundations with IP like Control and Alan Wake, saying “there’s so much more we can give in terms of super strong authored, creative, crazy stories and gameplay.”

He also said that these franchises “could give a lot more” in terms of sales, but added that there is “a vision on thinking bigger” in order to grow the audience. These plans do include multimedia efforts, including a TV and film deal in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive:

“To me, that’s one of the first things we need to fix, even before trying to make more games to a certain extent. First of all, maximize the potential of the ones we have, because they’re incredible. And cross-media is going to help us do that”.

While he stresses the importance of the cross-media effort, there is going to be at least one more Control game coming out before any films or TV shows. Control Resonant is launching later this year, putting players in the shoes of Dylan, the brother of the protagonist from the first game.

KitGuru Says: Remedy has managed cross-media before with Quantum Break, which had a full TV miniseries slotted in between the actual game levels. I doubt they'll do that same formula again but Remedy clearly likes the idea of having its own interconnected universe.

Remedy’s New CEO Looks to Quell Fears his EA Past Means He’ll “Crush the Soul of Remedy,” Says he Knows “What Needs to be Protected”

26 May 2026 at 15:40

A vibrant scene of people gathering at a festival-like event, with a prominent RR 30TH ANNIVERSARY text overlay, featuring various activities and interactions among the attendees.

Back in October 2025, former chief executive officer of Remedy Entertainment, Tero Virtala, stepped down from his role after nine years of running the company, following the financial failure of FBC Firebreak. A new CEO was appointed earlier this year in February, with former EA executive Jean-Charles Gaudechon stepping in. That specific element of his past has been a point of concern for fans who fear Gaudechon could be the undertaker of what makes Remedy special, but in a new interview with The Game Business, he claims he was chosen because he wants to do the exact opposite. Gaudechon admits […]

Remedy’s Control officially surpasses 6 million copies sold

6 May 2026 at 12:00

Earlier this year, the team at Remedy Entertainment revealed that their excellent 3rd-person metroidvania-esque shooter Control had officially sold over 5 million copies since its launch back in 2019. With its sequel Control Resonant set to release some time this year however, interest in the first entry has grown significantly, with the original Control having now surpassed 6 million total copies sold.

As part of the company’s latest investor report, Remedy Entertainment offered updates on their current projects, including the Max Payne remake; the aforementioned Control Resonant and a mysterious new project currently in its proof-of-concept stage.

Alongside this, the team also shared updated sales stats for the first Control, revealing that the title has now sold over 6 million copies.

While an impressive achievement in its own right, this marks a notable uptick in sales over the past few months, with the most recent update prior revealing that the game had shifted 5 million copies by February of this year.

Control Million

At the time, the team revealed that 1 million copies were sold in 2025 alone – half a decade on from its initial launch. It appears as though excitement towards its sequel has led to a major influx in sales however, having now pushed a further 1 million units in under 3 months.

Remedy has always struggled somewhat when it comes to turning their unique offerings into financially successful products. That said, it seems Control has managed to break past the glass ceiling. It will be interesting to see how quickly Resonant manages to find success.

Control Ultimate Edition officially available now for iPhone and iPad

23 April 2026 at 11:00

Following in the footsteps of other console game developers, Remedy Entertainment announced late last year that they would be porting the excellent Control over to mobile platforms – specifically iOS devices. While no exact release date was offered at the time, Remedy have now surprise-dropped Control Ultimate Edition onto the iOS App Store; officially available to purchase now for just $4.99.

Available now as a premium product commanding an upfront price of $4.99, Control Ultimate Edition brings the full console experience over to mobile, including support for ray-tracing on compatible hardware.

Additionally, Control’s…controls have been adjusted to suit mobile and touch-screen devices, with Remedy noting that “we have implemented touch controls and made changes to the in-game UI and game mechanics, like aiming and puzzles to provide a great experience for supported touch devices.”

Control Ultimate Remedy

Of course, the game also supports Bluetooth controllers for those who want a more console-like experience.

Regardless, it is interesting and encouraging to see an increasing number of major AAA titles being ported over to mobile platforms. Whether Control’s upfront cost will wind up helping or hurting the title, we will have to wait and see, but early reviews for the title appear to be positive.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the recent trend of bringing console games to mobile? Would you be willing to play Control on a relatively small screen? Should they have gone with a free-to-start model instead? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Control Resonant Has “The Biggest Gameplay Team in Remedy History,” New Gameplay Showcased in Dev Deep-Dive

2 April 2026 at 15:57

A character wielding a hammer stands atop a car in a surreal, apocalyptic cityscape in the game 'Control Resonant'

Control Resonant is the long-awaited sequel to 2019's Control, yet another Remedy game praised for its execution on practically every front, but unable to find the commercial success its biggest fans believe it deserves. That said, the game is still one of Remedy's most successful titles ever, and the studio seems primed to ensure that it's sequel will be able to achieve that level of instant commercial success it has always chased by trying to match the quality of the team's storytelling chops with the core gameplay experience. In the studio's latest development diary for Control Resonant, we get a […]

FBC Firebreak Has Received its Last Major Update With New Arenas, and a New Friends Pass, Will Remain Online “For Years to Come”

18 March 2026 at 13:54

A dimly lit warehouse interior from the game FBC Firebreak features steel beams, scattered crates on a rail track, and a distant fire.

Remedy Entertainment's failed multiplayer shooter FBC Firebreak has finally reached the inevitable point we all expected once Remedy admitted it did not perform well on the sales charts despite reaching 1M players. The studio known mostly for its excellent single-player experiences has confirmed that FBC Firebreak will no longer receive new content updates, and its final content update titled Open House is now live for those remaining players to dig into. The news was revealed with a blog post on the game's Steam page, where Remedy revealed that the update includes "new arenas inspired by locations from Control for the […]

FBC: Firebreak gets final major update less than a year after release

18 March 2026 at 12:00

FBC: Firebreak was the latest project from Remedy Entertainment – the team behind beloved titles including but not limited to Alan Wake, Max Payne and Control. Set in the same universe as Control, this co-op live-service FPS failed to resonate with many, despite launching day-one onto multiple subscription services. With the ship seemingly not turning around any time soon, Remedy have now confirmed that the game’s latest major update will be its last.

Taking to their Steam page to make the announcement, the team at Remedy Entertainment unveiled the ‘Open House’ update for FBC: Firebreak. Available right now, this latest content drop is rather meaty, and includes:

  • New Friend’s Pass (up to 2 friends can play for free with you)
  • 5 new ‘Endless Shift’ arenas “inspired by locations from the original Control”
  • Gameplay enhancements
    • ‘Harmful condition’ improvements
    • Healing improvements
  • Streamlined / overhauled perk system
  • Weapon balance improvements
  • Quality-of-life features
    • Increased crawl speed
    • Faster revives

FBC Update

While a pretty significant update, it is unfortunately its last, with Remedy confirming that “Open House will be the last Major update for FBC: Firebreak. We won't be adding new playable content after this update.”

Fortunately, unlike most other live-service titles, servers are not being taken down anytime soon, with the team affirming the fact that “FBC: Firebreak will stay online and continue to be playable for years to come. We have done engineering work to ensure we can sustain the upkeep of the relay servers when the player volume is lower.”

Pretty much since its release in June of last year, Remedy have admitted that FBC: Firebreak had failed to capture a large audience. So, while it is unfortunate (yet unsurprising) to see support for the game ceasing, it is encouraging at least to see the title ending on a somewhat high note. Hopefully the game manages to find a dedicated playerbase who can enjoy FBC “for years to come.”

PlayStation 5 Pro PSSR 2.0 Support Will Expand To Alan Wake 2 and CONTROL To Deliver ‘A New Level of Visual Fidelity’

13 March 2026 at 15:34

A split image shows a character in a dark city street from Alan Wake 2 on the left and an action scene with a female character using telekinetic powers in Control on the right.

Alan Wake 2 and CONTROL Ultimate Edition will join the likes of Resident Evil Requiem soon, as the two games developed by Remedy Entertainment will receive support for the new version of the PlayStation 5 Pro PSSR upscaler. This update will allow users to "explore the Oldest House and Bright Falls with a new level of visual fidelity," the developer announced on Bluesky. In announcing PSSR 2.0 support, Remedy provided the first details of the upgrade, promising "noticeable improvements in image stability and clarity of motion." Although we have only seen the PlayStation 5 Pro's new PSSR upscaler in action […]

Control Resonant Devil May Cry-Like Gameplay Will Target 60 FPS On All Platforms

4 March 2026 at 15:48

A character in the game Control Resonant is getting attacked by a large fiery creature emitting bright flames.

Although it was widely known that Remedy Entertainment has been working on the second entry in the Control series for a while, the reveal of Control Resonant was still quite a surprise for fans of the Finnish studio. Right from its very first showing during last year's The Game Awards show, it was clear how the second entry in the series would be a very different game from its predecessor, closer to a character action game than to the third-person shooter formula seen in Jesse Faden's venture into the Oldest House. The first few looks at Control Resonant's gameplay gave […]

Alan Wake Remastered gets surprise update with tons of new additions and improvements

27 February 2026 at 11:00

In recent years we’ve seen Remedy Entertainment going back to some of its previous releases in order to improve them technologically. Most notably, the team patched 2019’s Control last year adding proper HDR support; new ultra ray tracing presets; 10bit colour and much more. Now, Alan Wake Remastered is seeing a similar treatment – bringing tons of welcome additions.

Releasing the patch notes via their blog, the team at Remedy Entertainment detailed Alan Wake Remastered’s surprise update. Available now on PC, patch 1.33 brings both expected and welcome improvements, including but not limited to:

  • Camera improvements
  • Vegetation animation improvements
  • Weapon swap refinements
  • Full HDR support
  • New ‘Modern’ camera mode
  • Maximum FPS increased to 240 (was 200 previously)
  • DLSS improvements
  • 10bit colour support
  • More accurate FOV scaling
  • More dynamic ultrawide support
  • Other miscellaneous refinements

Alan Wake
HDR

Of course, the most immediately notable enhancement will be the addition of 10bit colour and full HDR support, making the game’s distinct colour palette more pleasing in both light and dark areas. Of course, for those with an ultrawide monitor, this update is also pretty vital.

As was the case with Control, hopefully many of these improvements will make their way over to the console version of Alan Wake Remastered sooner rather than later. Regardless, it is always exciting to see a game receive pretty transformative updates so many years later. The full patch notes can be found HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this surprise update? Will you be replaying Alan Wake Remastered? Which of the above additions do you think is the biggest deal? Let us know down below.

Alan Wake Remastered on PC Gets HDR, Improved DLSS and More in New Update

26 February 2026 at 15:23

A character in the game Alan Wake Remastered shines a flashlight at a large yellow excavator in a foggy forest setting.

Remedy has delivered a new update for Alan Wake Remastered on PC, and it is arguably one of the most significant updates the game has received in a long time, because this update finally adds HDR to the PC version. The addition of HDR is the big highlight, but it's not the only one in terms of visuals and some much-needed quality of life updates. For speedrunners and anyone who simply loves the game and is playing it again for the umpteenth time, you can now skip the intro cutscene to get into the game faster. Not that Alan Wake […]
