Ubisoft detail Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced PS5 Pro enhancements

30 June 2026 at 11:30

In an interesting fate for the system, Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro console has only been improving with age, thanks in part to the massive boost that was PSSR 2. Seemingly taking advantage of the pro console’s toolset, Ubisoft have detailed all of the PS5 Pro enhancements coming with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Taking to the PlayStation blog, Ubisoft’s technical directors Nicolas Lopez and Jussi Markkanen spoke on all of the ways in which the team have taken advantage of the PS5 Pro to “deliver the best experience possible for players when the game launches on July 9.”

PS5 Pro Black Flag

While a full technical breakdown can be found HERE, the primary improvements which PS5 Pro owners will be able to enjoy include the following:

  • Ray-Traced Specular Reflections across all modes (limited to Fidelity and Balanced on base PS5)
  • Expanded strand-based hair (affects Edward in all modes and nearby NPCs in Fidelity mode)
  • PSSR 2 support for increased visual clarity

Ubisoft has been taking pretty good advantage of the PS5 Pro with its recent releases, and AC Black Flag Resynced looks to be no different. That said, PSSR aside, it will be interesting to see how different the game looks compared to its base version in the Fidelity and Balanced modes.

Grand Theft Auto VI “Plays Best on PS5” as unique console features officially detailed

25 June 2026 at 11:00

For quite some time now, it was expected that Sony and Rockstar / Take-Two would pen a deal in order for the console maker to have exclusive marketing rights for the juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto VI. With the upcoming title now officially available to pre-order, PlayStation have started their own marketing for the game, confirming that the two companies have worked “together to deliver the best experience on PS5 by leveraging its innovative features.”

Taking to the PlayStation Blog in alignment with Rockstar Games, Sony reaffirmed the recent announcement that Grand Theft Auto VI is now officially available to pre-order, listing the game’s various editions and pre-order content.

Of course, none of this is exclusive to PlayStation. That said, the console maker did take time to share all of the unique features coming to the PS5 version, writing: “Thanks to the close partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI will play best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience.”

Grand Theft Auto PS5

While most of these features have been present across a majority of PS5 titles, it is still encouraging to have confirmation. With that, the full list of PS5 exclusive features is as follows:

  • Advanced Haptics support offering “responsive vibrations”
  • Adaptive Trigger support bringing “dynamic resistance”
  • DualSense Speaker support “enhanced by haptic feedback”
  • Tempest 3D AudioTech with “highly accurate audio positioning”
  • Supports the PS5’s “ultra-high speed SSD, enabling you to experience the expansive world of Leonida with near-instant load times.”

Curiously, the blog post does not make any mention of the PlayStation 5 Pro and how it will factor in. Presumably being saved for another blog post – assuming it is indeed PS5 Pro enhanced – players can expect sharper visuals thanks to the use of PSSR 2. As we’ve seen with various Pro Enhanced titles however, the range of improvements can vary, and so we will have to wait and see.

Either way, with the marketing deal seemingly now kicking off in an official capacity, expect to learn tons more about GTA VI between now and its release this November.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the PS5’s unique features in 2026? Have they been fully utilised across the board? What are you expecting from the PlayStation 5 Pro version? Let us know down below.

Following the official GTA VI pre-order details shared today by Rockstar Games, Sony is now boasting through the PlayStation Blog that the massively anticipated game will "play best" on PlayStation 5. Sony said it partnered closely with Rockstar to leverage the console's key features, such as the 3D audio enabled by the Tempest Engine, which will allow players to fully immerse themselves in Leonida's distinct soundscape with enhanced, highly accurate audio positioning, bringing each unique situation to life. The PS5's SSD enables "near-instant load times" while moving across the state of Leonida. The main differences, however, are enabled by the […]

FSR 3.1 Got Ditched for PSSR 2.0 in 007 First Light’s PS5 Pro Version After 1-Day Integration Blew Devs Away

20 May 2026 at 16:30

A large banner in the game 007 First Light reading '25th anniversario gala' hangs in an elegant hall filled with people, classical sculptures, and a reception desk.

IO Interactive revealed on the official PlayStation Blog that their soon-to-be-released James Bond origin story game 007 First Light will launch with the new PSSR 2.0 algorithm on PlayStation 5 Pro. On other console platforms, the studio is using AMD FSR 3.1.5, but PSSR 2.0 offers significant visual improvements on the PS5 Pro hardware. Henrik Schlichter, Technical Director at IO Interactive, said in a statement: Upgraded PSSR gave us a meaningful jump in image quality across the board — cleaner, more stable, and noticeably sharper on the kind of fine detail that’s hardest to get right. It’s a clear upgrade […]

SCUF Gaming launches Omega controller for PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles

13 May 2026 at 14:30

SCUF Gaming has announced the Omega, a high-performance controller officially licensed for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. The controller features 1K polling, Omron mechanical switches, and TMR thumbsticks designed for increased durability.

The SCUF Omega features 11 additional customisable inputs, including rear paddles, side-action buttons, and G-keys. For the first time, SCUF has introduced a dedicated mobile app for iOS and Android, allowing users to adjust trigger response curves, thumbstick deadzones, and rebind inputs in real time. The controller uses Omron mechanical switches for the D-pad and action buttons to provide tactile activation.

Hardware specifications include TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) thumbsticks, which are engineered to resist wear and stick drift while maintaining traditional tension. The controller also features “Instant Triggers” for near-zero travel time and refined ergonomics, omitting vibration modules to reduce overall weight. When used on PC, the Omega supports a 1000Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes.

The SCUF Omega features a built-in rechargeable battery and supports fast charging. While compatible with the broader PlayStation ecosystem, the controller is specifically optimised for the PS5 Pro's hardware. Arc Raiders Riven Tides update arrives today alongside PSSR 2 support

28 April 2026 at 10:30

Following the explosive launch of Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders late last year, the team shared an official roadmap detailing the live-service extraction shooter’s Q1 2026 plans. With their Flashpoint Update coming to an end, the team have now detailed Arc Raiders’ next big release – with Riven Tides officially arriving today alongside enhanced PSSR support on PS5 Pro.

Detailing the latest update via their blog, the team at Embark Studios shared everything that players can expect from Riven Tides, writing: “Raiders, Scout reports have been returning from Riven Tides. Fragments of observation logs, faded photographs, and footage of the coast have finally made their way back to Speranza.”

Available to experience in full from today, the update includes a number of major additions:

  • New Map: Riven Tides
  • New Enemy: Arc Turbine
  • New minor Map Condition: Beachcombing for buried loot
  • New items for added traversal:
    • Crash mat
    • Powered Descender
  • New event: Last Resort
  • New Raider Project: Avian Alarm
  • New cosmetics

As mentioned, alongside these additions, PlayStation 5 Pro users are set to be treated to a much-improved experience visually, with Sony’s upgraded PSSR 2 bringing an impressive amount of added detail and perceived sharpness.

Embark Studios are continuing to add to Arc Raiders at a consistent pace, but with the Riven tides update being the final piece of their previously-released ‘Escalation’ roadmap, it will be interesting to see what the team have planned for the rest of 2026 and beyond.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to today’s update? How big of a deal is the new PSSR to you? What do you hope to see from future updates? Let us know down below.

Cyberpunk 2077’s PS5 Pro update arrives today

8 April 2026 at 12:00

Despite stating previously that they had no plans to support the PlayStation 5 Pro with a bespoke update, CD Projekt Red did ultimately reveal that Cyberpunk 2077 on Sony’s higher-end console would be getting a welcome update in the future. Well, the future is now, with the team fully detailing all of the enhancements arriving today for Pro owners – including multiple forms of ray-tracing.

Taking to the PlayStation Blog to detail the update, CDPR’s Kuba Knapik confirmed that the highly-anticipated PS5 Pro update is finally coming to Cyberpunk 2077 today. A full breakdown of all the various tweaks and specificities can be found HERE, but some of the most notable enhancements include:

  • PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) support
  • BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) support allowing for:
    • Ray-traced lighting
    • Ray-traced shadows
    • Ray-traced reflections
  • 3 PS5 Pro graphics modes:
    • Ray Tracing Pro (RT reflections; AO; skylight; shadows and emissive lighting at 40fps)
    • Performance Mode (up to 90fps without RT features)
    • Ray Tracing Mode (select RT features at 60fps)

Cyberpunk 2077

Curiously, CDPR did not make any mention of target resolutions, aside from the confirmation of “4K visuals”. Of course, seeing as how the Pro version makes use of PSSR, the final result is able to look perceptively sharp while technically running at lower resolutions. Regardless, this latest update is a massive one for PS5 Pro owners.

Given just how impactful ray-tracing has been for Cyberpunk and the world of Night City, bringing over a majority of these features to the Pro version should make for an immediately noticeable increase in visual fidelity and grounded realism.

It’s been a long time coming, but the PS5 Pro update for Cyberpunk 2077 seems to have been worth the wait.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: Are you impressed with the detailed enhancements? Which of the modes will/would you use? How transformative is ray-tracing for Cyberpunk specifically? Let us know down below.

Sony launches upgraded PSSR for 12 games, with more to come

17 March 2026 at 17:30

While console's super-resolution technologies still aren't on par with its PC counterparts, Sony is narrowing the gap with the launch of PSSR 2 (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution). Now available to all PS5 Pro owners, this second-generation looks quite the advancement, promising users less shimmering and ghosting and improved visual quality.

While Nvidia is currently iterating on DLSS 4.5 and 5 and AMD is teasing the AI-driven FSR Diamond, Sony's internal solution is now being deployed across twelve titles. This initial wave includes games such as Silent Hill 2 Remake, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

The full list of games can be found below:

  • Silent Hill 2 Remake
  • Silent Hill f
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • Dragon's Dogma 2
  • Crimson Desert
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Nioh 3
  • Control
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (upcoming)
  • Assassin's Creed Shadows (upcoming)

Digital Foundry has already provided the first deep-dive analysis of the technology, with Oliver Mackenzie noting that the leap from the first iteration to PSSR 2 is substantial, describing it as a “big improvement” that significantly improves the value proposition of the PS5 Pro hardware. While he was careful to mention that PSSR 2 still lacks some of the advanced features found in top-tier PC upscalers, the consensus is that for a living-room experience, the “ghosting” and “shimmering” issues that occasionally plagued early PSSR 1 titles have been drastically reduced.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: PSSR 2 alone might not be enough to justify getting a PS5 Pro, but it sure looks like something worth adding to the list of advantages.

Crimson Desert gets PC system requirements and console graphics modes

11 March 2026 at 16:00

As the launch of Crimson Desert looms, Pearl Abyss has provided an exhaustive breakdown of how its highly anticipated open-world title will perform across a sprawling landscape of gaming hardware. By unveiling specific targets for PC, home consoles, and even dedicated handhelds and Mac specifications, the studio seems pretty confident in its proprietary BlackSpace Engine.

On the console front, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users will have access to three distinct graphical profiles tailored to different gameplay priorities. The Performance Mode aims for a fluid 60 FPS by targeting a native 1080p resolution with ray tracing set to its lowest settings and using Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) or VSync to maintain stability. For those seeking a middle ground, the Balanced Mode pushes the visual envelope to 4K by upscaling from a 1280p base using AMD's FSR 3 technology, targeting a stable 40 FPS. Finally, the Quality Mode prioritises fidelity, scaling a 1440p internal resolution to 4K with FSR 3 to hit a 30 FPS target, with the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions using the high preset ray tracing.

The Xbox Series S is more restricted, offering a 720p Performance profile at 40 FPS and a 1080p Quality profile at 30 FPS, both with ray tracing disabled to ensure consistent performance on the more modest hardware. Lastly, the PS5 Pro runs the game with the same performance targets as the standard consoles, but at 4K. However, in Performance mode, the base is 1080p, while in Balanced mode, it increases to 1440p. In both cases, PSSR is the upscaling method used, and ray tracing is set at high. In the Ultra preset, the ray tracing is set at Ultra.

For PC players, the entry-level requirements are surprisingly inclusive, allowing the game to run on hardware nearly a decade old. The minimum spec calls for an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT paired with an Intel Core i5-8500 or Ryzen 5 2600X, targeting 30 FPS at 1080p (upscaled from 900p) on minimum settings.

To reach a native 1080p at 30 FPS with low settings, a slight bump to a GTX 1660 or RX 6500 XT is required. The Recommended Spec, which aims for 1080p at 60 FPS or 4K at 30 FPS with medium settings, moves into the mid-range territory, requiring an RTX 2080 or RX 6700 XT paired with a Ryzen 5 5600 or i5-11600K. For 1440p at 60 FPS with high settings, users will need an RTX 4070/Radeon RX 7700 XT and a Core i5-12600K/Ryzen 5 7600X. Those targeting 4K at 60 FPS on Ultra settings will need an Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti or the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, backed by an i5-13600K or Ryzen 7 7700X. All PC configurations require 150 GB of SSD space and 16 GB of RAM.

Handheld owners have also received dedicated guidance, with Pearl Abyss highlighting the performance delta between various handheld units. The standard Asus ROG Xbox Ally (Z2 A) is expected to maintain 40 FPS at 720p with FSR 3 Frame Generation. However, the newer ROG Xbox Ally X (Z2 Extreme) leverages its superior thermal and memory headroom to reach 60 FPS in Performance mode by upscaling 720p to 1080p with FSR 3 Frame Generation enabled. Even in its Quality mode, the Ally X is projected to deliver a respectable 1080p at 30 FPS, making it a viable way to experience the continent of Pywel on the go.

Surprisingly, Pearl Abyss also shared the specs for Mac systems, and in quite a lot of detail. Note that the chart highlights a massive performance delta between macOS 15 and the upcoming macOS 26, with the latter leveraging advanced MetalFX frame interpolation to effectively double frame rates across all tiers. Regardless of the system, like on PC and handheld systems, you'll need 16 GB of RAM and 150 GB of storage. To even get through the gate at “Minimum” settings, you're looking at an M2 Pro (ray tracing off) or a base M3/M4 chip (ray tracing on) to hit 30 FPS at sub-1080p resolutions. To push for “Ultra” settings at 4K with 60 FPS, you'll need an M3 Ultra or an M4 Max (both require macOS 26+).

KitGuru says: In an era where many “next-gen” titles feel unoptimised at launch, Pearl Abyss's new game looks to have gone the other way around. If the launch-day performance matches these specs, Crimson Desert could become the new standard for open-world tech.

FSR 4-Derived New PSSR for PS5 Pro Unveiled; Resident Evil Requiem Is the First Game to Get It

27 February 2026 at 14:00

A Sony PlayStation 5 Pro console next to text reading 'PSSR PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution' and 'AI-Driven Upscaling'.

Sony has just announced that the highly anticipated new version of the PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) upscaler for PlayStation 5 Pro is ready and will roll out next month, with CAPCOM's Resident Evil Requiem (out today and already doing well on Steam) as the first game to implement it. The announcement came with a statement from CAPCOM's Masaru Ijuin (Senior Manager, Engine Development Support Section, R&D Foundational Technology Department), who said: The upgraded PSSR has allowed us to elevate our expressiveness by successfully processing these details and textural particularities, which are traditionally difficult to upscale because of their intricacy. Sony debuts upgraded PSSR upscaler for PS5 Pro, starting with Resident Evil Requiem

27 February 2026 at 16:30

Sony is preparing to roll out an upgraded version of its PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling technology for PS5 Pro, with the update scheduled to arrive globally in the coming weeks.

PSSR is Sony’s AI‑driven image‑enhancement library, already used in more than 50 PS5 Pro titles to boost effective resolution by analysing each frame at the pixel level. The new release represents a major overhaul of both the neural network and the underlying algorithm.

PSSR FSR

Resident Evil Requiem, launching today, is the first game to ship with the enhanced PSSR. Capcom’s Masaru Ijuin says the studio focused on improving the fidelity of the protagonist through an upgraded RE Engine, including individually rendered hair and beard strands that react to movement and light. According to Ijuin, the new PSSR is able to preserve these fine details during upscaling, helping maintain both image quality and performance while pushing the game’s horror presentation further.

Sony says the revised algorithm stems from its Project Amethyst partnership with AMD, building on the same foundations as AMD’s FSR 4 technology. The PS5 Pro version includes an additional six months of refinement tailored specifically for the console.

More titles are expected to adopt the improved PSSR in March, alongside a system software update. Once installed, PS5 Pro owners will be able to enable “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” in Settings, applying the new upscaler to any supported game. Sony suggests some titles may show noticeably sharper results once the feature is active.

KitGuru Says: Do you own a PS5 Pro? Have you been impressed with many games on it so far?
