11 September 2026 at 09:54

A close-up of Wolverine in his yellow suit from the upcoming video game Marvel's Wolverine, showing his fierce expression.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is the most powerful console on the market, and it hasn't failed to show time and time again how its ray tracing capabilities and PSSR upscaler can make a lot of difference compared to the base system. And with the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine, the current-generation refresh shows even more of its ray tracing prowess, as it is capable to handle the game's most advanced ray tracing effects with a negligible hit to performance. A new comparison video put together by ElAnalistaDeBits puts the game running on base PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro side by side, […]

Sony Forces PSSR 2.0 On Every PS5 Pro Game, As New Beta Update Flips The Upscaler Toggle On By Default

6 August 2026 at 11:38

The image shows a white Sony PS5 Pro console and DualSense controller with the logo 'PS5 Pro' on a glowing background.

The one feature that defines the PS5 Pro is the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaler. While the first version of the AI-powered upscaling technology left something to be desired in games like the Silent Hill 2 remake, where the upscaler didn't work properly with Unreal Engine 5's light rendering, the enhanced PSSR 2.0 is elevating gaming on the system. However, some games that haven't been updated still only support the first version of the upscaler, relying on the system's "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" toggle to improve image quality. Although this toggle will eventually be deprecated once future versions of the […]

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Gets PSSR 2.0 Support Nearly 3 Years After Launch, Yet PC Players Haven’t Been Left Behind Either

28 July 2026 at 10:19

Spider-Man swings through a cityscape in vibrant comic-style graphics.

The new, enhanced version of the PlayStation 5 Pro's PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaler, commonly also known as PSSR 2.0, got another high-profile game on its list of supported games, as developer Insomniac Games and lead architect Mark Cerny added official support for the upscaler to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with a new patch that also adds new content on PlayStation 5 and PC, signaling how support for already released single-player games won't stop even after Sony Interactive Entertainment's decision to stop releasing them on Steam and the Epic Games Store. "It's a Brand New Day for Marvel's Spider-Man 2! Get […]

PS5 Pro Delivers The Best Experience In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, As It Runs Ray-Traced Visuals At 60FPS

9 July 2026 at 10:41

A character from the game Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced perched on a viewpoint overlooking a lush coastal settlement with ships visible on the horizon.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is, on paper, the most powerful console available on the market, but there have been times when the system disappointed, especially in some titles at launch. With the upgraded PSSR 2.0 upscaler, however, the situation has been steadily improving, and with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the system delivers Quality-mode level visuals complete with ray tracing at 60 FPS in its Performance Mode. The high quality PlayStation 5 Pro support Ubisoft delivered in the remake of the fourth entry in the series is showcased by a new comparison video put together by ElAnalistaDeBits, which puts every […]

Ubisoft detail Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced PS5 Pro enhancements

30 June 2026 at 11:30

In an interesting fate for the system, Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro console has only been improving with age, thanks in part to the massive boost that was PSSR 2. Seemingly taking advantage of the pro console’s toolset, Ubisoft have detailed all of the PS5 Pro enhancements coming with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

Taking to the PlayStation blog, Ubisoft’s technical directors Nicolas Lopez and Jussi Markkanen spoke on all of the ways in which the team have taken advantage of the PS5 Pro to “deliver the best experience possible for players when the game launches on July 9.”

PS5 Pro Black Flag

While a full technical breakdown can be found HERE, the primary improvements which PS5 Pro owners will be able to enjoy include the following:

  • Ray-Traced Specular Reflections across all modes (limited to Fidelity and Balanced on base PS5)
  • Expanded strand-based hair (affects Edward in all modes and nearby NPCs in Fidelity mode)
  • PSSR 2 support for increased visual clarity

Ubisoft has been taking pretty good advantage of the PS5 Pro with its recent releases, and AC Black Flag Resynced looks to be no different. That said, PSSR aside, it will be interesting to see how different the game looks compared to its base version in the Fidelity and Balanced modes.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

Helldivers 2 To Get NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, FSR 4.03 Support, But PlayStation 5 Pro Owners Will Only Get PSSR 1.0

21 May 2026 at 15:09

A character in 'Helldivers 2' is evading a massive, flame-spewing mechanical creature in a snowy, desolate landscape.

The popular Helldivers 2 is the rare modern game that launched on PC without supporting any major upscaling technology like NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR, but this is set to change next week, on May 27, with the release of a new set of technical improvements. Console users will also get some of these improvements, but PlayStation 5 Pro players will inevitably be disappointed by the decision not to bring support for the latest iteration of the PSSR upscaler. "We’re excited to announce a new set of technical improvements, deploying May 27th. In collaboration with our partners at Nixxes, this release brings […]

FSR 3.1 Got Ditched for PSSR 2.0 in 007 First Light’s PS5 Pro Version After 1-Day Integration Blew Devs Away

20 May 2026 at 16:30

A large banner in the game 007 First Light reading '25th anniversario gala' hangs in an elegant hall filled with people, classical sculptures, and a reception desk.

IO Interactive revealed on the official PlayStation Blog that their soon-to-be-released James Bond origin story game 007 First Light will launch with the new PSSR 2.0 algorithm on PlayStation 5 Pro. On other console platforms, the studio is using AMD FSR 3.1.5, but PSSR 2.0 offers significant visual improvements on the PS5 Pro hardware. Henrik Schlichter, Technical Director at IO Interactive, said in a statement: Upgraded PSSR gave us a meaningful jump in image quality across the board — cleaner, more stable, and noticeably sharper on the kind of fine detail that’s hardest to get right. It’s a clear upgrade […]

PSSR Games List for PS5 Pro: Native 2.0 and Upgradeable 1.0 Titles

7 April 2026 at 18:30

A PlayStation 5 Pro console and DualSense controller are shown with the text 'PSSR2 PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution' and 'AI-Driven Upscaling.'

Following the recent release of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) 2.0, owners of a PlayStation 5 Pro console may be wondering exactly which of the games they own support the new upscaler. You'll find the full list, updated as much as possible to the latest games, below. For now, there's only a relatively small number of games that use the new algorithm natively. However, the good news is that there is a system-level toggle that can upgrade PSSR 1.0 games to version 2.0, improving image quality. Notably, PS5 Pro System Architect Mark Cerny has stated that 'the current strategy is […]

23 March 2026 at 15:39

The PlayStation 5 Pro Enhance PSSR Image Quality toggle will not be updated in the future even when new versions of the upscaling tech are released, PlayStation 5 Lead System Architect Mark Cerny confirmed in a new interview with Digital Foundry (as reported on Reddit by Dream Corridor). Cerny cited the need to set a standard for the community regarding the feature as the primary reason for this decision. "The current strategy is that it will be fixed, i.e. even if there are updated network parameters for the most recent PS5 Pro games, those parameters will not be applied when […]

PlayStation 5 Pro PSSR Patent Details Real-Time AI Precision Adjustment To Prevent Frame Rate Drops

24 February 2026 at 14:22

A collage of characters from popular PlayStation games including 'The Last of Us,' 'Uncharted,' 'Gran Turismo,' 'Horizon,'

While it left something to be desired at launch, the PlayStation 5 Pro PSSR upscaler is still very notable tech as it is the first AI-powered upscaler to be available on a home console. In the months since the system's release, the upscaler has been consistently improved to deliver better image quality, and a future version could introduce some significant changes that would prevent frame rate drops in essentially every game. As spotted by Tech4Gamers, Sony Interactive Entertainment filed a new patent on February 4 detailing some new features that could be part of the upcoming PSSR 2.0. Chief among […]
