Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced details leak via game ratings board

14 April 2026 at 08:00

Due to the public nature of video game ratings boards, we’ve gotten various details on a ton of different unannounced and in-development titles over the years. As such, it comes as little surprise that in anticipation of Ubisoft’s proper unveiling of the long-rumoured Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced remake, another games rating board has given us our first ‘official’ set of details.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘nicoreese’, the Indonesian Game Rating Board (IGRSDB) recently published a listing for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Alongside an 18+ rating and a 2026 release year (as well as confirmation that the remake will be limited to the PS5, Series X|S and PC), the board published a brief description for the game which reads as follows:

“This title breathes new life into a fan favourite while remaining carefully faithful to the spirit of the original. It follows the story of charismatic pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway as he adventures through 18th Century Caribbean with parkours in cities, and battles at seas, in search of fortune and glory. Modernized in 2026, the new game includes a cast of new characters and stories.”

Black Flag Resynced

While relatively vague in specifics (understandably so), the fact that Resynced will feature “a cast” of new characters and stories suggests that Ubisoft will be fleshing out the game’s narrative in one form or another.

This lines up somewhat with previous rumours which claimed that the remake would offer “more content in Edward’s pirate era” – although according to the same report Black Flag’s modern day segments are being removed.

Regardless, it seems quite clear that this remake will be more than just a basic visual overhaul, with perhaps the most unlikely addition (new story content) being all-but-confirmed. It will be interesting to learn more about the game officially in the lead up to its expected August 2026 release.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake to be revealed this month

8 April 2026 at 14:15

We've been hearing about the Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake for a couple of years now. Ubisoft has even hinted at the rumours being true themselves. Now, a new leak claims that the game will be revealed as soon as next week.

This isn't the first time we've heard a rumour about this game being officially announced. Previously, it had been claimed that the game would be revealed at The Game Awards last December, but the show came and went with no announcement to be found.

Black Flag Resynced

Over on Resetera, a user who claims to have ties to Ubisoft has said that the Black Flag Remake will be announced on April 16th. Insider Gaming has seen documentation that suggests the game will release by the end of August this year, so a reveal now is feasible, but Ubisoft is known for its delays at this point, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the game pushed back a bit either.

With that said, if Ubisoft wants this game to stand a chance, it needs to release before November 2026, as the rest of the year will be entirely dominated by Grand Theft Auto 6.

Long-rumoured Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake officially announced

5 March 2026 at 10:45

For quite some time now we’ve been hearing that Ubisoft is working on a full blown remake of their fan-favourite Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. With multiple in-development projects being cancelled at Ubisoft recently however, the game’s future was somewhat unknown. In a surprise franchise update, Ubisoft have now officially confirmed that a Black Flag remake is in the works – though details still remain sparse.

As part of a blog post detailing the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise in the wake of its recent developer shake-ups, Ubisoft took time to tease what we’ve ‘known’ for a while: that a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is in the works, writing:

“Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: ‘Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.’ Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.”

Black Flag Remake

Alongside this teaser, the team shared the first piece of concept art for the remake, confirming that it will be called AC: Black Flag Resynced.

As mentioned, we’ve gotten a bunch of different leaks over the years discussing various aspects of this remake. As noted however, the company has recently undergone a great deal of restructuring, and so it’s likely that Resynced could be quite different from how previous leaks described it.

We will have to wait and see, but finally, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is officially real and coming at some point in the future. The full blogpost, including the confirmation that AC: Unity is getting a 60fps patch on console, can be found HERE.

Ubisoft offers update on “the Future of Assassin’s Creed”

24 February 2026 at 09:30

The past year has been a big one for Ubisoft, with the publisher going through a ton of changes on an executive and strategic level. So far this has primarily led to a bunch of negative news, with countless project cancellations, lay-offs and more. Following the departure of the long-time Assassin’s Creed franchise boss Marc-Alexis Côté late last year, Ubisoft have now shared an official “Update on the Future of Assassin’s Creed.”

Taking to Reddit to make the announcement, the official AC team at Ubisoft detailed the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise in the wake of these most recent shake-ups, stating:

“We know that what comes next has been a big topic within the community lately, and today, we can finally share some updates, starting with the introduction of newcomers to the leadership team that will shape the future of the franchise.”

As mentioned, Marc-Alexis Côté – who had been working on the AC franchise for the past two decades – was announced to be departing Ubisoft back in October of last year. Since then, the franchise’s future has been somewhat unknown.

Ubisoft Creed

Now however, the publisher officially unveiled Assassin Creed’s new leadership team – comprising of a “trio of experts of the series”:

  • Martin Schelling (Head of Brand)
    • Leading the “franchise team, as well as the overall strategy, long‑term vision, and development of Assassin's Creed”
  • Jean Guesdon (Head of Content)
    • Will lead “the creative direction of the franchise, support ongoing projects, and help shape the franchise’s future while ensuring it remains true to its DNA”
  • François De Billy (Head of Production Excellence)
    • Tasked with “strengthening production practices and execution across the franchise”

Being one of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises, the publisher already had a solid half-a-dozen entries in development in one form or another. With some of these having reportedly since been cancelled, it will be interesting to see how this new trio navigate the future of the AC franchise. Additional details on each of these new heads can be found HERE.
