CAPCOM’s Mega Man: Dual Override Nails The Blue Bomber Feel, But New Chip System Subtly Rewrites The Rules

10 September 2026 at 19:00

Two characters from Mega Man Duel Override stand back-to-back, featuring a blue-armored character and a red-armored character with a yellow scarf.

Unlike series like Onimusha, which made its triumphant return with Way of the Sword, the Mega Man series hasn't been left dormant for decades, as the latest main entry in the series, Mega Man 11, launched in 2018. Still, the Blue Bomber had yet to make its debut on current-generation systems, and will do so in style, as Mega Man: Dual Override is set to continue the incredible stream CAPCOM has been on since the launch of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard in Spring 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch systems. During gamescom 2026, […]

Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remakes are coming to Switch 2 just in time for Halloween

10 September 2026 at 10:00

In the year and a half since the launch of the Switch 2, we’ve seen Capcom supporting Nintendo’s latest handheld-hybrid with a myriad of releases, both old and new alike. As part of the console maker’s latest Direct Showcase, Capcom revealed that the excellent Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remakes are heading to Switch 2 just in time for Halloween.

Announced during Nintendo’s latest Direct Showcase, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition; Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will be landing on the Switch 2 in just over a month’s time – with all 3 launching on the 16th of October.

Based on the footage shown, the games do appear to be visually solid. That said, knowing Capcom, it would not be surprising to see them come with an unlocked and somewhat inconsistent framerate.

Resident Evil Switch 2

All three titles are being sold separately, meaning there is no discounted bundle for getting the lot. Fortunately, Capcom have priced the games at a reasonable rate, currently on sale for the following:

Alongside their impending digital releases, Capcom also confirmed that all three titles will be offered in a physical format; at least in Europe and Asia.

Those interested however will have to wait until next year, with the physical versions slated for the 29th of January 2027. As of now, it is unknown whether these cartridges will include the full game’s data, or if it will be a Game-Key Card situation.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Nintendo’s latest Direct? What was your favourite 3rd party announcement? Let us know down below.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword PC Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide – How To Get The Best Experience On PC

8 September 2026 at 15:16

A promotional image for Onimusha: Way of the Sword with characters wielding swords and accompanying text 'PC Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide'.

Capcom's RE Engine has built an enviable reputation over the past several years. From Resident Evil to Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter — though the last franchise is certainly not without its fair share of technical issues — the engine has repeatedly demonstrated that modern AAA games do not necessarily have to place absurd requirements on PC hardware to deliver a polished presentation. Onimusha: Way of the Sword continues that trend from a performance perspective, although we came away considerably less impressed by its visuals. The game runs very well on modern hardware, particularly compared to many contemporary Unreal […]

Capcom plans on “re-activating IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently” following Onimusha’s success

8 September 2026 at 11:30

For a solid generation or so, Capcom remained primarily focused on maintaining and growing its suite of major IPs such as Resident Evil and Monster Hunter. That said, as a publisher, Capcom is home to countless other franchises – many of which have been underrepresented in recent years. In the wake of the immediate success of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Capcom have expressed great interest in “re-activating IPs that haven't had a new title launch recently.”

Representing the first new proper entry in two decades, Onimusha: Way of the Sword officially launched late last week to immediate success, achieving aggregate scores inline with their other recent success ‘Pragmata’ – while outpacing it sales-wise (selling 1 million copies in its first day compared to 2 days for Pragmata).

Not only is this a major achievement in and of itself (especially given that there has not been a new entry since 2006), but Way of the Sword already accounts for 10% of the franchise’s lifetime sales.

Capcom Onimusha

As part of their press release celebrating this milestone, Capcom revealed that they plan to bring back many of their other dormant IPs, writing: “In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on re-activating IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently. The company is working to further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content, including [Onimusha].”

As mentioned, while Capcom is known best nowadays for a select few IPs such as Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter, the publisher’s full suite of franchises is vast and includes all sorts from Mega Man to Ace Attorney; Dino Crisis to Devil May Cry; Lost Planet to Final Fight and countless others.

Any and all of these are ripe for a revival (except for Mega Man which is set to receive a new entry next year), and so it will be interesting to see how Capcom proceeds from here.

KitGuru says: Are you one of the 1 million who purchased Onimusha: Way of the Sword? How does it compare to the originals? What smaller Capcom franchise would you like to see revived next? Let us know down below.

CAPCOM’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Rebel Wolves’ The Blood of Dawnwalker Have Already Become Million Sellers

7 September 2026 at 09:30

On the left, text reads 'THE BLOOD OF DAWNWALKER 1 MILLION COPIES SOLD' over a red and orange mountain scene, while on the right, two characters from 'ONIMUSHA WAY OF THE' are in a dynamic battle pose with vivid colors.

Rebel Wolves and CAPCOM have announced that their latest games, The Blood of Dawnwalker and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, have already surpassed one million units sold across all platforms. The Polish developer shared the news on social media with a celebratory image. The Japanese studio, on the other hand, put out a press release that provided a bit more info; Onimusha: Way of the Sword became a million-seller on its launch day, and its performance was already enough to push the franchise's lifetime sales to over 10 million units. They're great results in both cases. Rebel Wolves is a […]

Onimusha: Way of the Sword sells 1 million copies on day one

By: Aftab Ali
7 September 2026 at 13:25

Capcom just proved that reviving a dormant franchise after two decades still works. Onimusha: Way of the Sword crossed one million sales on its very first day out, and that’s pushed the whole series past 10 million copies sold since it began.

Not bad for a franchise that hasn’t had a proper new entry in over 20 years.

Capcom credited the strong launch to a heavy marketing push beforehand, including multiple demos and hands-on events aimed at getting the game in front of as many players as possible. It clearly worked. And it’s a big signal for what’s coming next, because Capcom has made no secret that this is part of a wider plan to dust off older IP and turn it into new releases.

Onimusha Way of the Sword 1
Onimusha Way of the Sword

Capcom’s bigger plan

This win doesn’t exist in isolation. Capcom’s had a genuinely stacked year, with Resident Evil Requiem in February, Pragmata in April, and the Dragon’s Dogma 2 expansion Dark Arisen also landing. Mega Man: Dual Override is next up on the 2027 slate, marking the series’ first new game since Mega Man 11 back in 2018.

If Onimusha’s launch numbers keep growing, which they will, expect Capcom to keep raiding the archives- and why wouldn’t they? It’s working.

Capcom has yet another hit on its hands with Onimusha: Way of the Sword

7 September 2026 at 14:45

Capcom already had a great year thanks to the launch of Resident Evil Requiem, which has continued to sell strongly since its February release. However, Capcom also had two riskier projects coming out this year, a brand-new IP in Pragmata, and a revival of the long-dormant Onimusha series. Both of those risks appear to have paid off.

Capcom has been on a run all year, with Resident Evil Requiem setting records and Pragmata quickly becoming a surprise hit for a debut IP. We learned back in April that Pragmata had gone on to sell over a million copies. Now just a few days on from launch, Onimusha: Way of the Sword has also surpassed the 1 million copies sold milestone.

Way of the Sword is the first full Onimusha game in two decades, marking a major revival for the PS2‑era action series. Unlike the older games, which used fixed camera angles and slower combat, Way of the Sword adopts a faster, more modern action style while keeping the series’ demon‑hunting roots intact.

With over a million copies sold already, Way of the Sword is already well on its way to becoming the highest‑selling game in the series. To do that, it would need to surpass Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, which sold over two million copies back in 2002.

Capcom’s big year isn’t over yet though. Later in October, Capcom will release Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a huge rework of the base game plus a major expansion on top, giving new players a reason to jump in and old players a reason to return. Then in 2027, all attention will turn towards Monster Hunter, as Wilds is due to get a massive expansion.

KitGuru Says: Did you play the original Onimusha games back in the day? Are you excited to see the series finally return with a new game?

Q: How did you come up with the concept for Stupid Never Dies, and how do you feel it compares to similar action RPGs? Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Fixes the Sequel’s Biggest Flaw, but Combat Still Fights the Player for Control

2 September 2026 at 19:00

A heavily armored knight from Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen confronts two characters in a snowy battlefield with a fierce white wolf by their side.

Oh, Dragon's Dogma 2. I had such hopes for that game after being thoroughly impressed with the original Dark Arisen, which led me to pine long years for a sequel. When CAPCOM finally announced it, I was overjoyed, to say the least, but the final game turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, not just for me but for many gamers. Sure, it was still fun and rightfully earned an 8/10 score in my review, but it could have been so much more. Instead, it looked like the developers were merely content with making it more like Dragon's […]

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Review – CAPCOM Revives The Series With One Of Its Best Entries Yet

31 August 2026 at 15:00

Cover art for 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword' featuring a warrior holding a detailed ornate sword and various mythical creatures in the background.

With the massive success of the first two entries in the Resident Evil series, CAPCOM tried to take the game's formula in slightly different directions for other projects, such as the original Devil May Cry and Onimusha. While the former eventually evolved into something completely different, essentially creating the character action genre, the latter stuck to its Resident Evil roots the longest, only breaking away with the fourth entry in the series, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, which also signaled the beginning of the series two-decades absence. While it is commonly believed the series' hiatus was caused by its overall popularity, […]

Multiple PlatinumGames alumni join Hideki Kamiya’s new studio ‘Clovers’

25 August 2026 at 11:30

After leaving PlatinumGames back in 2023, Hideki Kamiya would take a small break from game development – coming back in late 2024 to announce his brand new studio ‘Clovers’ alongside a teaser for Okami 2. Despite the first game in the series launching all the way back in 2006, Kamiya has now revealed that composers behind the original game have joined the studio.

As reported by the publication VGC, Hideki Kamiya’s newly-established studio Clovers have been amassing a massive pool of talent as they work on the upcoming Okami sequel.

The most notable new hire is for Hiroshi Yamaguchi – the lead composer for the excellent Bayonetta who also worked on the original Okami. Alongside Yamaguchi, other audio alumni from PlatinumGames have now joined, including:

  • Hitomi Kurokawa (music writer for Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101)
  • Aoba Nakanishi (lead composer for Bayonetta Origins)
  • Misaki Shindo (lead sound designer for NieR: Automata and The Wonderful 101)
  • Hiroki Niwa (lead sound designer for Ninja Gaiden 4 and Bayonetta 3)

Clovers Kamiya

While PlatinumGames’ reputation has ebbed and flowed over the years, one aspect which the team does not seem to miss is with its music.

Given this, it is safe to assume that Okami 2 and whatever else Clovers has in store will feature excellent music and sound design.

KitGuru says: What do you think of these latest hires? How important is music / sound design to you in games? Which Kamiya-led project has had your favourite soundtrack? Let us know down below.

CAPCOM’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 Becomes A True Co-Op Monster Hunter Soon, As DD2gether Mod Arrives Before Dark Arisen

7 August 2026 at 11:36

A hooded character in 'Dragon's Dogma 2' aiming a magical bow at a creature in a mountainous landscape.

With its emphasis on fighting against big enemies like Cyclops and Ogres, the original Dragon's Dogma often felt like a sort of cross between an open-world RPG and the Monster Hunter series. Dragon's Dogma 2 followed in the footsteps of its predecessor (perhaps even a bit too much), delivering the same feel as its predecessor. Soon, the two CAPCOM series will get closer than ever before on PC thanks to the Alpha launch of the DD2gether mod, which introduces co-op multiplayer ahead of the Dark Arisen expansion on October 9 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and […]

Capcom hopes Monster Hunter: Wilds will surpass World “over the medium to long term”

7 August 2026 at 10:00

After what was an explosive launch (selling over 10 million copies in its first month), interest in Capcom’s latest and greatest Monster Hunter: Wilds fell rather sharply, with the current-gen exclusive struggling to reach the highs of 2017’s Monster Hunter World. That said, the publisher still appears to be confident, claiming that they hope Wilds will surpass the sales of World “over the medium to long term.”

As part of a Q&A during Capcom’s latest fiscal earnings call, the publisher was asked about the current and future prospects of Monster Hunter Wilds, with one party stating: “How have sales been for Monster Hunter Wilds and what is its outlook going forward?”

Presenting a rather positive image, the publisher claimed that “Ongoing enhancements to the technical performance of Monster Hunter Wilds have led to sales for the game improving. We have also seen a response to the announcement of the upcoming massive expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, and related pricing measures.”

In looking towards the future, Capcom have promised to continue to improve the game’s “technical performance” (a major controversy which carried through the game’s first year on the market.)

Wilds World

In Capcom’s eyes, these factors will hopefully help “to drive its total unit sales beyond those of Monster Hunter: World over the medium to long term.”

For the uninitiated, not only is Monster Hunter World the best selling entry in the franchise, it represents Capcom’s best selling game of all time – surpassing a total of 22 million copies (almost 30 million when including its various editions).

Given that Wilds is lagging far behind with ‘just’ 11.4 million units sold, Capcom still has a long way to go in order to reach the same level of success.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Monster Hunter Wilds in 2026? Is it an overall improved experience? Do you plan to pick up the expansion when it launches next year? Let us know down below.

Monster Hunter Wilds Chases World’s 22 Million Units Record as CAPCOM Bets on Ascendance Expansion and Switch 2 Debut

6 August 2026 at 12:00

Two characters stand in a rocky, expansive landscape with floating islands beneath the title 'Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance'.

After a strong hype-driven start, Monster Hunter Wilds sales slowed as fans complained about several issues, starting with the game's performance. CAPCOM has worked hard to remedy those, and the publisher still aims to eventually exceed the sales result of Monster Hunter World, which is still currently CAPCOM's best-selling game ever with 22.10 million units sold. Here's the quote from the Q&A portion of the recent Q1 2027 earnings call: Ongoing enhancements to the technical performance of Monster Hunter Wilds have led to sales for the game improving. Monster Hunter Wilds Squeezes 1440p Docked and 40 FPS from Nintendo Switch 2, as CAPCOM Tests The Hardware’s True Ceiling

5 August 2026 at 09:39

A character from the game Monster Hunter Wilds with distinctive blonde hair and goggles is talking to another character on a wooden platform.

With the Street Fighter 6 port, CAPCOM already proved it knows how to squeeze every ounce of power out of the Nintendo Switch 2 to deliver an extremely good port. However, the real test will be with Dragon's Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds, the two open-world games powered by the RE Engine that have long struggled to run properly even on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While we still don't have any specifics for the former, it seems like the Japanese publisher is set to deliver another impressive port, going from some datamined information. As reported on the […]
