Resident Evil Requiem’s Story DLC Eyes a Late 2027 Release, Arriving Nearly Two Years After the Game Itself Launched

27 July 2026 at 11:00

Leon and Grace from Resident Evil Requiem stand back-to-back in a scene from a video game, while Claire Redfield from Resident Evil Veronica stands on the right.

Renowned CAPCOM leaker Dusk Golem has commented on the publisher's admission that they are too focused on new Resident Evil entries and remakes of older titles to contemplate any kind of spin-offs. According to the leaker, CAPCOM is addressing this gap in their pipeline by producing longer-form story DLCs for Resident Evil games, including Requiem (which launched earlier this year) and Veronica (due sometime next year). However, Dusk Golem also warned fans that these DLCs, being quite big, will take time to materialize. CAPCOM's temporary solution to there being no spin-offs in the works is that they've, in the last […]

CAPCOM Couldn’t Build An Onimusha Team For 20 Years, As Monster Hunter And Resident Evil Devoured Its Talent

24 July 2026 at 09:46

A character in Onimusha: Way of the Sword wearing ornate armor with glowing effects stands in a dark, forested environment.

Although CAPCOM is going through a new golden age releasing high-quality new entries in beloved series like Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Requiem, Street Fighter 6, and Monster Hunter Wilds as well as new IPs like PRAGMATA, the Japanese publisher went through some rather dark times during the PS3 and Xbox 360 era, requiring a publisher-wide reset to return to the glory days. This reset, and the RE Engine which powers all modern games by the Japanese publisher, are the reasons why Onimusha is coming back with Onimusha: Way Of The Sword after 20 years, according to director Satoru […]

Rumoured Dino Crisis Remake has reportedly been in development since 2022

22 July 2026 at 08:30

Ever since Capcom first started to remake its older Resident Evil titles, there have been cries from fans for the publisher to offer a similar treatment to some of its other IPs. Capcom themselves have lent into this over the years, asking fans which games they would want to see remade. One title which has been rumoured to be in development is a Dino Crisis remake – with work reportedly having begun all the way back in 2022.

As reported by Capcom leakers ‘Team Biohazard’, the long-rumoured Dino Crisis remake is said to indeed be real and has been in the works for longer than many would expect, claiming that “development began in 2022.”

Unfortunately, fans will still have to wait a bit for anything official on the matter, with Team Biohazard suggesting that its announcement might not arrive until 2028/29 – though this appears to be more speculative on their part.

Dino Crisis Remake

Of course, all of it should be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, Capcom did file a new trademark for the Dino Crisis IP just last year, suggesting that things are indeed in motion.

Even assuming it doesn’t get announced until 2028, Capcom have a penchant for launching games within a relatively short time after their initial announcement, meaning we could still be getting our hands on the long-awaited Dino Crisis Remake within the next couple of years. We will have to wait and see.

Monster Hunter Wilds is getting a permanent price cut

15 July 2026 at 13:00

Monster Hunter Wilds is about to get cheaper. Capcom has announced that the game will receive a permanent price reduction, alongside a full overhaul of its digital editions and DLC bundles.

The announcement confirms that several existing bundles will be discontinued starting from the 4th of August, including the Deluxe Edition, Premium Deluxe Edition and the Cosmetic DLC Pass. Capcom says it is “streamlining the available options” for new players and will introduce new bundles on the same date, including the Monster Hunter Wilds Gold Edition, which packages the base game with all cosmetic DLC released so far.

Capcom also confirmed that the base game will receive a permanent price reduction starting at the same time. The publisher has not yet revealed the new MSRP yet, but we would guess it will drop to around £50 for the base game. Anyone who recently picked up the game during the Steam Summer Sale will likely have received a better price than what the new ‘normal' price will be. While the announcement was made on Steam, it is expected that the price cut will also roll out to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game.

As far as new DLC bundles go, there will be two. The Cosmetic DLC Collection includes all 10 cosmetic DLC packs released to date, and the Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack bundles a smaller selection of paid cosmetics previously sold individually.

Monster Hunter Wilds launched to mixed reception, with early criticism focused on performance issues and design changes that divided long‑time fans. Sales slowed significantly after launch, but Capcom has since released multiple performance updates. As a result, the game’s English‑language Steam user reviews have risen to Mostly Positive, a notable improvement from the mixed/negative score seen during its release window.

KitGuru Says: Will you be jumping into Monster Hunter Wilds once the lower price arrives?

Nintendo Switch 2 Handles Dragon’s Dogma 2 Better Than Anyone Predicted, But The Real Winners Are PS5 And Xbox Owners

14 July 2026 at 14:42

A character in 'Dragon's Dogma II' confronts a large winged dragon surrounded by skeletal enemies in a dark, cavernous environment.

CAPCOM is among the third-party publishers that is supporting the Nintendo Switch 2 the best, delivering incredible ports of games such as Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil Requiem, PRAGMATA and Devil May Cry 5. Although the base game is remembered alongside Monster Hunter Wilds as one of the games powered by the RE Engine with the worst performance, Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen is already exceeding expectations on the system, running at 30 FPS and higher in its current state, which bodes incredibly well for the game ahead of its release on October 9. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen brings major changes to gameplay, loot and more

14 July 2026 at 15:56

Capcom has revealed new details for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. In a recent interview with Automaton, director Kento Kinoshita and producer Naoto Oyama outlined the scale of the DLC, confirming a massive new region to explore, expanded progression systems and dozens of hours of fresh content.

The expansion centres on Norgan, a significantly larger area than Bitterblack Isle from the original Dark Arisen expansion in Dragon's Dogma 1. Players are recommended to reach level 40 before taking on the new DLC content, which runs for around 15–20 hours, but early dungeons in the region will be accessible from level 20. Norgan will also introduce new enemy types that Capcom has yet to reveal, alongside harsher environmental conditions such as stronger blizzards at higher elevations.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen adds 12 new dungeons, plus a set of replayable “Lost Rites” dungeons, giving players new ways to obtain powerful gear. Progression in the DLC revolves around collecting Relics, which can be used to unlock new skills. The loot chase has also changed here, with new equipment in Norgan dropping with randomly assigned skills, so you'll need to do some farming to find your ideal armour and weapon sets.

Combat and build variety are also being expanded. Each vocation will receive new skills, and the skill loadout has been increased from four slots to six. Capcom has also rebalanced enemy encounter rates, addressing one of the most common complaints from the base game.

A number of quality‑of‑life improvements are included too, such as Eternal Ferrystones and other traversal updates designed to make it easier for new players to get around. Transmog is also being added, allowing players to freely change their appearance without affecting stats. Capcom says a Hard Mode is under consideration for those that prefer an increased challenge.

For existing players, Dark Arisen will be available as a standalone purchase, while newcomers to the game will be able to pick up the Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Edition, which bundles the base game and expansion together.

KitGuru says: I've held off on Dragon's Dogma 2 since launch because I had a good feeling that an expansion like this would be coming. I'm excited to finally be able to jump in once this drops in October.

Capcom reportedly making ‘ambitious’ story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem

14 July 2026 at 14:00

Capcom previously confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will receive a story DLC, but no release window has been announced. Now, a new leak suggests fans may be waiting a bit longer than expected.

According to Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem, the Requiem story DLC might be planned for after the release of Resident Evil Veronica, Capcom’s newly announced remake of the classic Code Veronica spin‑off. Veronica is currently targeting a 2027 launch window, likely in Q1 based on Capcom’s usual scheduling. If accurate, this means Requiem’s story DLC may not land until more than a year after the game’s February 2026 launch.

The leaker claims Capcom is investing in larger, more ambitious story expansions for future Resident Evil titles. This longer development cycle could explain the extended wait for Requiem’s DLC and may indicate that the expansion will be bigger than past Resident Evil DLCs, such as Separate Ways or Shadow of Rose.

Capcom hasn't made any official announcements yet, so we don't know how accurate any of this information is. However, the idea of more ambitious DLCs certainly sounds good. Capcom is already doing something similar with other games, like Dragon's Dogma and Monster Hunter.

KitGuru says: Resident Evil Requiem wrapped up two decades worth of history in a very satisfying way. With that in mind, I'm not sure what more a major story expansion could add, but it could be an interesting way for Capcom to bridge the gap to the next era of Resident Evil.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – Everything You Need to Know About CAPCOM’s 20-Year Return to Its Samurai Action Series

4 July 2026 at 16:00

Two warriors wielding swords are featured in a promotional image for the game titled 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword.'

Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the long-awaited revival of one of CAPCOM's most beloved dormant franchises. Developed and published in-house, it's the first mainline entry in the series since 2006's Dawn of Dreams, which means fans have been waiting for exactly two decades. Built on the studio's proprietary RE Engine (the same technology behind all of CAPCOM's most recent games), Way of the Sword aims to modernize the series' signature blend of visceral sword combat and dark supernatural horror for a new generation of players. The original Onimusha games sold over 9 million copies combined, making it a sizable […]

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is now launching earlier than expected

3 July 2026 at 09:00

In today’s day and age, it is highly common for many anticipated games to ultimately be delayed a couple times prior to their official and eventual launches. On the flip side, it is far less common for a game to end up having its release date brought forward. Such is the case however with Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword – officially confirming that it is arriving 3 weeks earlier than initially announced.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the official Onumusha team shared the welcome news, writing: “We are delighted to bring Onimusha: Way of the Sword to you earlier on September 4, 2026.”

Initially planned to release on the 25th of September, this means that fans will be able to get their hands on the game up to 3 weeks earlier than expected.

It is worth noting that this change in release date has impacted some logistics, with Nintendo Switch pre-orders all being cancelled – meaning you’ll need to pre-purchase the title once again. In addition, what was previously a pre-order bonus has now been changed to an ‘early adopter’ bonus; eligible for all purchases up until the 25th of September (the game’s original launch date).

No reason was given for this change in release date. That being said, late September will see a number of major releases, including but not limited to Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant.

Early October is even more stacked, with Rayman Legends Retold; Ace Combat 8; Gears of War: E-Day; Star Wars Galactic Racer and others all coming in the first week of the month – and so perhaps they are simply trying to carve out a space for the game to thrive.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to Onimusha: Way of the Sword? Does this release date change give you more time to check the game out? Let us know down below.

CAPCOM Moves Onimusha: Way of the Sword up Three Weeks to Dodge Silent Hill Townfall and Control Resonant Collision

A couple of weeks ago, Canadian retailer PNP Games changed the launch date of Onimusha: Way of the Sword from the official September 25, 2026 to September 4. The game was featured in CAPCOM's Spotlight the following week, but CAPCOM did not announce any changes to the release date, so it seemed like an error on the retailer's part. However, earlier today, the Japanese developer confirmed it: Onimusha: Way of the Sword is now set to debut on September 4 across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. Monster Hunter World is by far Capcom’s biggest game with over 30 million units sold

29 June 2026 at 09:15

While the most recent entry in the series has been mired with plenty of controversies, the Monster Hunter franchise has had a huge resurgence over the past 10 or so years thanks in part to the explosive success of 2018’s Monster Hunter World. Already Capcom’s best-selling game of all time, the co-op focused action-RPG has now reached a new milestone – officially selling over 30 million units.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the official Monster Hunter page confirmed that: “Monster Hunter: World has reached a combined 30 million units sold! A massive thank you to all of you, our faithful pards!”

The ‘combined’ sales in which they are referring to brings together both the sales of the base game as well as units sold via the ‘Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition’ – which included both base game and its expansion. For context, Iceborne alone sold over 16 million units, making the expansion Capcom’s 5th best-selling ‘game’ of all time.

World Million

While Resident Evil 2’s remake will likely surpass it soon, Capcom’s second best-selling game of all time is another Monster Hunter – Rise – currently sitting at 18.6 million. Similar to World, its ‘Sunbreak’ expansion is also a Capcom best-seller at 11.3 million units sold.

Last and also least, the most recent entry in the series, Monster Hunter Wilds, continues to see relatively slow sales following its explosive launch, currently landing at 11.4 million

Regardless of which game is right at the top, it is quite clear that by this point Monster Hunter is one of Capcom’s biggest franchises. It will be interesting to see what the team have planned for Wilds and beyond – and whether any future title will manage to reach the heights of MH: World.

KitGuru says: What do you think of MH: World so many years later? Is it aging better than Wilds? Between these two and MH: Rise, which entry is your favourite? Let us know down below.

CAPCOM Shows A More Aggressive Genma in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, But Release Date Remains Set For September 25

26 June 2026 at 09:23

A character with a glowing sword faces a large, monstrous creature in a dark forest setting in the game Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to continue CAPCOM's incredible streak in 2026, and the Japanese publisher showed more of its upcoming PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 game during its latest Spotlight showcase. The new footage suggests that the low enemy aggression seen in the playable demo may have been addressed, but some may be disappointed to learn that the game is not launching earlier than anticipated. During the segment focused on the first new entry in the series since 2006's Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, Director Nihei Satoru introduced the game's story and setting […]

CAPCOM Might Be Moving Onimusha: Way of the Sword up to September 4, as Fans Argue It Needs More Time

19 June 2026 at 08:00

Two characters in the game Onimusha: Way of the Sword stand back-to-back, each holding a sword, with a dramatic, mystical background.

We've previously highlighted the utter craziness of the September release schedule, and the craziest part of it all was the fact that Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall all released in the span of two days (September 24-25). However, it seems like CAPCOM might be about to move Onimusha out of the way, advancing its release date to September 4. That's the new date listed by Canadian retailer PNP Games, though no other major retailer has updated it yet. They might be ahead of everyone else, or it might be simply a mistake. CAPCOM has […]

CAPCOM Reportedly Has No Desire To Remake Resident Evil 5 Right Now, But Fan Demand Will Force Its Hand Eventually

18 June 2026 at 15:12

Characters in Resident Evil 5 aiming pistols with laser sights in a gritty outdoor setting.

With Resident Evil: Veronica launching next year, CAPCOM has remade the vast majority of the classic entries in its survival-horror series, leaving only a few titles left to remake utilizing its proprietary RE Engine. According to well-known insider Dusk Golem, a Resident Evil 5 remake will eventually happen due to fan demand, but it may be years until it hits PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo consoles, as Capcom doesn't have a strong desire to develop the game at the time. Devil May Cry 5 sold more copies in the past 12 months than during its launch year

17 June 2026 at 11:00

Unlike some of the publisher’s franchises, Capcom have been rather sparing when it comes to releasing new entries in the popular Devil May Cry series. That’s not for lack of demand however, with the latest title – Devil May Cry 5 – continuing to sell like hotcakes; recently achieving its best 12 months of sales ever despite being 7 years old.

As reported by the Japanese publication GameSpark (and translated by VGC), Capcom recently updated their ‘Consumer Business Sales Volume’ chart offering a breakdown of the publisher's various game sales on a year-by-year basis.

In an interesting revelation, Devil May Cry 5 (the latest entry in the series) actually managed to have its best year ever sales-wise, despite launching all the way back in 2019.

With a total of 2.7 million copies sold over the past 12 months (ending March 31st), DMC 5 even managed to outdo its initial launch-year high of 2.1 million copies sold.

All-in-all, Devil May Cry 5 has now managed to sell just shy of 13 million copies – representing more than a 3rd of the entire franchise’s lifetime sales.

Devil May Cry Capcom

Of course, there are a number of factors to consider. Firstly, the game has seen plenty of discounts over the years, including a recent all-time low of just £3.74. Additionally, various other DMC-related media have been released in the years since its arrival, including the likes of the Devil May Cry animated series as well as the mobile-focused spin-off DMC: Peak of Combat – though the impact of the latter was likely minimal.

Either way, as the years go on, Devil May Cry seems to only be growing in popularity. Hopefully Capcom has a DMC 6 currently cooking in the developmental oven. It will be interesting to see whether the upcoming Switch 2 port manages to push the title past 15 million.

Resident Evil Veronica gets new details as the game surpasses 1 million wishlists

12 June 2026 at 12:00

For quite some time, there have been leaks and rumours claiming that Capcom were working on a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica. Sure enough, during Summer Game Fest, the much-anticipated remake was finally officially announced. Since then, we’ve gotten a bunch of new details regarding the upcoming project, including the fact that it will indeed be a 3rd-person experience.

While all of the classic Resident Evil games took on an isometric / 3rd person perspective, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard shook up the formula by switching to first-person. Since then, new entries in the series have allowed for both 1st and 3rd person perspectives, with their remake projects keeping things simple with just 3rd-person options.

That said, the announcement trailer for RE Veronica was presented in a 1st-person view, leading many to fear that it may deviate away from the original. Fortunately, this isn’t the case, with Capcom confirming during a Q&A session that Resident Evil Veronica “will be a third-person game.”

Resident Evil Veronica

While not unexpected, the team also confirmed that Veronica is being developed by the same studio behind the excellent Resident Evil 2 and RE4 Remakes.

Last but not least, it seems as though excitement for RE Veronica is rather palpable, with Capcom confirming that the upcoming title has already amassed over 1 million wishlists across Steam and PS5.

Given that past RE Remakes have sold in excess of 10 million copies, it is safe to assume that this figure will only continue to rise as we get closer to the game’s 2027 release.

Insider Claims Resident Evil 0 Remake was Rebooted Mid-Development, Now Led by Capcom’s Division 1 Team

11 June 2026 at 19:08

Two characters from the game 'Resident Evil 0' are focused and ready for action inside a train car.

After months of speculation, Capcom finally revealed Resident Evil: Veronica during Summer Game Fest 2026, the latest entry in the company's string of remakes that began with Resident Evil 2 back in 2019. Now that we know to expect Veronica in 2027, fans immediately turn to what's coming after that in the remake cycle, which is currently believed to be a remake of Resident Evil 0. Though, according to reliable leaker Dusk Golem, that remake's development isn't having the smoothest run, and may have been rebooted once already.
