Just a few days ago, we covered PlayStation 5 emulator KyTyPS5 getting Grand Theft Auto V running, and raised the half-joking possibility that Grand Theft Auto VI might end up playable on PC through emulation before Rockstar ships an official port. That timeline now looks a bit less outlandish in light of the emulator's latest advancements. As reported by DSOGaming, the emulator has gone from running Bluepoint's Demon's Souls Remake at 2 FPS to somewhere between 10 and 18 FPS in the space of a single release. That's an 800% improvement, and it isn't a typo. Demon's Souls isn't alone, […]
In the year and a half since the launch of the Switch 2, we’ve seen Capcom supporting Nintendo’s latest handheld-hybrid with a myriad of releases, both old and new alike. As part of the console maker’s latest Direct Showcase, Capcom revealed that the excellent Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remakes are heading to Switch 2 just in time for Halloween.
Announced during Nintendo’s latest Direct Showcase, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition; Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will be landing on the Switch 2 in just over a month’s time – with all 3 launching on the 16th of October.
Based on the footage shown, the games do appear to be visually solid. That said, knowing Capcom, it would not be surprising to see them come with an unlocked and somewhat inconsistent framerate.
All three titles are being sold separately, meaning there is no discounted bundle for getting the lot. Fortunately, Capcom have priced the games at a reasonable rate, currently on sale for the following:
Alongside their impending digital releases, Capcom also confirmed that all three titles will be offered in a physical format; at least in Europe and Asia.
Those interested however will have to wait until next year, with the physical versions slated for the 29th of January 2027. As of now, it is unknown whether these cartridges will include the full game’s data, or if it will be a Game-Key Card situation.

Earlier today, Nintendo finally unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time during the special Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. Following months of rumors and guessing, fans finally have a better idea of what to expect from the remake of the best-reviewed game of all time, including its features and release date. From our end, we now have enough information to create a proper roundup article that covers everything we know about the Ocarina of Time remake. Series producer Eiji Aonuma led the 15-minute gameplay demo, introducing the project as a remake for the series' […]
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was officially announced during June's Nintendo Direct, but little has been said about the game other than the fact that it is coming before the end of the year. During today's The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, we have learned not only when the game will launch, but also how it recreates one of the most beloved games of all time. Early November Launch As many expected, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will launch this November, the same month GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series […]
Nintendo kicked off its Zelda 40th Anniversary showcase, and it packed in more than I expected for what was meant to be a quiet warm-up to a bigger Direct.
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct
New Amiibo and Museum Updates
New Amiibo figures were confirmed, alongside changes to the Nintendo Museum tied to the anniversary. Nothing revolutionary, but nice touches for collectors.
Ocarina of Time Remake
The big one. Nintendo showed extended gameplay for the Ocarina of Time Remake, both in a longer look and a condensed version for the main Direct. More importantly, we finally got a release date. After years of rumours, it’s actually happening.
Switch 2 Zelda Edition Leaks
A 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console and Pro Controller leaked during the showcase. If you wanted a themed console to go with the remake, this is shaping up to be it.
Concerts and a Movie Title
Nintendo also announced anniversary concerts and confirmed the Zelda movie’s official title, which apparently tells an original story rather than adapting one game directly.
For a “just a warm-up” showcase, that’s a packed 40th birthday. The main Nintendo Direct has a lot to live up to now.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is one of the few games launching in 2026 that still lacks a precise release date. With September and October filled to the brim with game releases, a November release that would put the game directly against Rockstar Games' GTA 6 is almost certain, and it's very likely this epic gaming square-off will be officially confirmed next week, as two Nintendo Direct broadcasts have been confirmed today. The first of the two Nintendo Direct events scheduled for next week will be a The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, which will air […]
CD Projekt has provided an update on the status of The Witcher Remake, confirming that development has been folded into work on The Witcher 4 for the time being.
In a statement to GameSpot, the studio explained that Fool’s Theory is now primarily focused on Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, with a smaller part of the team assisting on The Witcher 4. As a result, The Witcher Remake is waiting on assets, tools and pipelines being built for The Witcher 4 before full development can resume.
Signs of this shift first appeared when joint‑CEO Michał Nowakowski mentioned roadblocks for the remake in an interview with The Game Business, citing technology dependencies tied to The Witcher 4. CD Projekt is transitioning from RED Engine to Unreal Engine, and The Witcher 4 will define the baseline for how the series operates on Unreal. The Witcher Remake, announced in 2022, appears to have been caught up in that transition.
Fool’s Theory is currently leading development on Songs of the Past, unveiled at Gamescom, while also supporting work on The Witcher 4. Once those projects are complete, development on the remake is expected to ramp up again.
KitGuru Says: The Witcher 1 was a pretty small game so remaking it shouldn't be a huge task, but it sounds like Songs of the Past and Witcher 4 are the clear priorities right now.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis's presentation we attended at gamescom 2026 featured an extensive look at the Greece level, which Crystal Dynamics Game Director Raul Siqueira described as one of the most iconic locations in the franchise's history, with its towering columns, the grandeur of an ancient civilization, and untamed wilderness surrounding it. The hands-off live demo, which ran on a Pre-Alpha build of the game (now due on February 12, 2027, following a delay from the original 2026 target), was the team's way of showing how they have approached reimagining the beloved original classic. The last time the game was shown […]
Set to arrive early next year, there is a great deal of hype and excitement surrounding ATLUS’s upcoming Personal 4 Revival remake. While much of what has been shown so far appears positive, fans have expressed disappointment with the announcement that the entire English voice cast have been replaced. Justifying the decision, ATLUS have now explained why.
Taking part in an interview with the publication GamesRadar+ during Gamescom 2026, Persona producer Kazuhisa Wada explained why the studio opted to replace the English cast for this remake, stating (via a translator):
“The original game was originally recorded for the English cast, specifically, a long, long time ago” adding that many “are no longer in the industry” or were “really hard to lock down” due to their risen popularity.
Wada continued, “So we realized we can't re-gather that whole cast. So we're like, ‘OK, I guess we have to kind of once again roll up our sleeves. Alright, let's start over. Let's get a whole new cast in and let's do our best.’”
For the uninitiated, Persona 4 Golden featured many high profile voice actors, including but not limited to Yuri Lowenthal; Troy Baker and Laura Bailey.
While it was disappointing to hear that the original cast wouldn’t be returning to P4’s revival, the explanation does make a great deal of sense. Hopefully the new voice actors are able to capture the spirit of these characters.
Square Enix brought Final Fantasy VII Revelation back to the stage during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, unveiling a new gameplay trailer for the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. While the game was formally revealed at Summer Game Fest earlier this year, the new trailer offers a more extensive look at the colossal Weapons and some of the battles Cloud and his companions will face as they continue their pursuit of Sephiroth. Originally encountered during the later stages of the 1997 Final Fantasy VII, the Weapons are enormous guardians that emerge when the planet […]
Geoff Keighley wasn’t lying when he said there was “a lot of great stuff” this year. Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 just wrapped, and it threw out one of the densest reveal lists in the show’s history, headlined by a genuinely stunning surprise: a free Witcher 3 remaster.
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026
The big reveals during Gamescom Opening Night Live
CD Projekt’s The Witcher 3 Remastered is the story of the night. It’s a free upgrade for anyone who already owns the game, landing September 29, 2026. CDPR also dropped a new expansion, Songs of the Past, due in 2027, and made the two existing expansions free immediately. Geralt clearly isn’t done yet.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation got a fresh trailer confirming a spring 2027 window, with director Naoki Hamaguchi showing off the returning Weapons as reimagined boss fights, a new Typhon summon, and the FITS outfit system for Cloud and Tifa.
Crimson Desert quietly rebranded itself Crimson Desert Enhanced with a 2.0 update adding new story content. I haven’t touched it in weeks, so consider this my nudge back in.

Also new: Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, Exodus (April 7, 2027), Tarae: The Unbound, The Defiant (a WWII shooter set in China’s war against Japan), and PUBG: DED.NET, a darker 90s-set PvP spin-off.

Gamescom has outlined what to expect from this year’s Opening Night Live showcase, confirming several major games that will receive new trailers, updates and live appearances during the two‑hour broadcast on the 25th of August.
According to the event organisers, Geoff Keighley will be joined by developers throughout the show to debut fresh looks at a number of upcoming titles. Gears of War: E‑Day is confirmed for the showcase, alongside Final Fantasy VII Revelation, with director Naoki Hamaguchi appearing live to deliver the first update since the game’s announcement at Summer Game Fest.
CD Projekt Red will also be present with The Witcher 3’s new expansion, Songs of the Past, offering the first detailed look at Geralt’s next adventure. Additional titles include Ananta, Metro 2039, and Mewgenics, with the latter featuring a live musical performance during the broadcast.
Gamescom’s organisers also highlighted plans for the Awesome Indies show, which will run alongside ONL. The team aims to give indie developers greater visibility this year, with announcements, gameplay reveals and interviews with the developers.
KitGuru Says: With Gears of War: E‑Day, Final Fantasy VII Revelation and The Witcher 3’s new expansion all confirmed, this year’s Opening Night Live is shaping up to be one of the strongest line‑ups so far. Hopefully there will be a few big surprises sprinkled in as well.
System Shock is a PC classic. Originally released back in 1994, this first-person immersive sim has been re-released on multiple occasions – publishing an enhanced edition in 2015 and a full on remake in 2023. Furthering the reach and scope of the series, System Shock’s remake is now set to be ported to VR.
Making the announcement as part of the latest VR Games Showcase, Nightdive Studios and Flat2VR revealed that the excellent System Shock remake will be getting a comprehensive VR port.
As of now, details on the project remain light, with the only confirmed facts being that it will arrive for SteamVR, Meta Quest and PSVR2 at some point in the future.
That said, based on the trailer released, it can be gleaned that the VR port will offer full movement alongside direct control of your character’s appendages – allowing for freeform aiming, crouching, peeking around corners and more.
For the uninitiated, Flat2VR have ported tons of different ‘flat’ games into VR, including but not limited to Roboquest and FlatOUT 4 – with many more on the way (such as Postal, I Am Your Beast, High on Life and the aforementioned System Shock).
System Shock is already a highly immersive, tense and atmospheric experience, and so it will be exciting to have all of these elements amplified tenfold while in VR.
KitGuru says: What did you think of the latest VR Games Showcase? Which announcement were you most excited by? Does System Shock in VR sound too tense for you? Let us know down below.
Though the practice may have subsided somewhat in recent years, Nintendo is known for releasing various themed versions of its consoles based on the company’s wide suite of popular IPs. Following recent reports that the console maker is working on a limited edition The Legend of Zelda themed Switch 2 – photos of the product in question have now leaked online.
With 2026 marking the 40th anniversary of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda franchise, there had been plenty of leaks and rumours claiming that the console maker was working on a themed Switch 2 and Pro controller to celebrate.
At the time, little was known regarding its design, with insiders simply claiming that it is being structured around Zelda as a whole – and not the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake. As shared by ResetEra user ‘jojoroy’ however, we’ve now gotten a first look at both bits of hardware via their box art.
While perhaps somewhat messier than some might like, both the Switch 2 and Pro Controller feature an even blend of black, gold and forest green colours, including iconography of the Triforce and Hylian crest.
As with pretty much all limited edition Zelda consoles, expect that 40th anniversary offering to be in high demand once it is officially announced.
KitGuru says: What do you think of these leaked designs? How does it compare to the Switch 1’s Zelda console? Across its history, which Zelda Edition console remains your favourite? Let us know down below.
The long-rumored The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is among the few games launching in 2026 still lacking a solid release date. While there's a high likelihood the remake of what is considered one of the best games of all time will clash directly with GTA 6 this November, Nintendo is keeping a tight lid on when the highlight of the year's Nintendo Switch 2 release schedule will launch. However, the announcement may be right around the corner, as designs for the limited-edition console and Pro Controller meant to celebrate the series' 40th anniversary have leaked online. The leaked […]
Besides working on CONTROL Resonant, which will mark a significant shift for the franchise with the introduction of action gameplay reminiscent of games like Devil May Cry, Remedy Entertainment is working on the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake for Rockstar Games. In today's financial report, the Finnish developer reiterated that the remake is in full production, but did not elaborate further on the current progress, and we may not hear much about it for a few more months, as the ball is apparently in Rockstar Games' court. As reported by Rockstar Intel, during the Q&A session held after the […]
In the 10 years since the initial launch of Persona 5, we’ve seen ATLUS publish a ton of various side-projects, re-releases and full-on remakes. Following the success of Persona 3 Reload – and ahead of the upcoming Persona 4 Revival, ATLUS producer Kazuhisa Wada was asked about the prospects of remakes for the first two games in the series; responding positively to the notion.
Taking part in an interview conducted by the publication GamerBraves, ATLUS producer Kazuhisa Wada was asked about the upcoming Persona 4 Revival vis-a-vis “the technical challenges of rebuilding Inaba in 3D to the choices behind combat, story presentation, and the game’s new title.”
While the full interview can be found HERE, the most interesting part came when Wada was asked about other potential remake projects – namely remakes for the original Persona 1 and 2.
Though a concrete answer was not provided, the prospect seems to be ruminating internally at ATLUS, with Wada stating: “At this point, I can't say for sure, but personally, I think it's something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it.”
It is worth noting that of all the Persona games, the first two are likely to be the toughest to remake, owing to the fact that both games were developed for the PlayStation 1 and as such are structured very differently to P3 onwards. That said, this is perhaps the exact reason as to why these two titles deserve to be remade.
Either way, with Persona 4 Revival scheduled to launch in February of next year – and Persona 6 likely years away from release – don’t expect any more remakes anytime soon.
KitGuru says: What do you think of Persona’s remakes so far? Would you welcome a re-do of the first two entries? When do you think Persona 6 will officially launch? Let us know down below.
The GeForce Now database leak a few years back revealed a ton of unannounced game projects, with one of the biggest being a Final Fantasy 9 Remake. Square Enix producers even hinted at the remake project a while back, but plans for the game appear to have been put on hold.
According to games journalist Alex Donaldson, the Final Fantasy 9 Remake project was indeed real. While the game wasn't officially announced during the game's 25th Anniversary celebration, it is claimed that updated artwork released during that time came directly from early work on the Final Fantasy IX Remake project. The images released included concept art with new designs for key main characters, as well as an updated key art that could have doubled as the cover for the game.
Donaldson said recent comments from Naoki Yoshida were a way for Square Enix to temper fan expectations after years of leaks, as the Final Fantasy 9 Remake project has been put on hold. It is also claimed that the 9 Remake was not going to be the same scope as Final Fantasy 7 Remake, sticking to a single, simpler game, rather than expanding the story out into a massive sprawling trilogy. Yoshida recently suggested that a Final Fantasy 9 Remake could require as many as 5 or 6 games to really feel complete.
It would seem that Square Enix had other big plans for Final Fantasy 9 as well. They had an animated series in the works, but that also ended up being halted.
It is worth noting though that while the big plans for Final Fantasy 9 may be on hold for the time being, Square Enix has been known to revisit ‘cancelled' projects. The next Final Fantasy Dissidia game for example was cancelled for a short while before being picked back up again and re-announced this year.
After Final Fantasy 7 Revelation releases in 2027, it is expected that the next major Final Fantasy game will be Final Fantasy 17, rather than another remake or spin-off.
KitGuru Says: Personally, if we are going to see more remakes, I would prefer to see HD-2D versions of the older pixel-based games in the series, or perhaps a reimagining of Chrono Trigger.
It has been just a couple of months since Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the final game for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. Now, Square Enix is gearing up to show the game in action, with new reveals planned for Gamescom.
Gamescom Opening Night Live already has a few major reveals attached to it. For starters, CD Projekt Red will be revealing Song of the Past, a new expansion for The Witcher 3. Now, it looks like Square Enix will also be a highlight of the showcase, with plans to debut “a new look” at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
There is no release date in place yet for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, but fans will no doubt be hoping for an announcement alongside the new trailer. Considering that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launched in early 2024, we expect to see the third game release in the first half of 2027, rather than later in the year.
Unlike the previous two games in the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will not be part of any timed exclusivity deal with Sony. Instead, Square Enix plans to release the game for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at the same time. Whether or not the Switch 2 ends up included in that launch line-up remains to be seen but it seems likely given that they did a lot of the technical optimisation work to bring Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth over already, and all three games in the trilogy share assets and technical foundations.
KitGuru Says: Are you looking forward to Final Fantasy 7 Revelation?
