Metro 2039 revealed for PC, PS5 and Xbox

16 April 2026 at 17:15

Just as promised, this evening 4A Games officially revealed the next mainline game in the Metro series. Metro 2039 is scheduled to release ‘this Winter', so any potential delay would likely push the game into 2027.

Metro 2039 is a handcrafted, story-driven shooter campaign in which players take on the role of a new character, The Stranger, who is forced to go back down into the Metro tunnels and face horrors they had hoped to leave in the past.

In Metro 2039, the underground factions are unified under one banner – the Novoreich, led by a new Fuhrer: the legendary Spartan, Hunter. The Fuhrer promises salvation and a new life for the people on the surface but in reality, communities remain trapped deep within the Metro, flooded by propaganda and misinformation, suffering under his authoritarian regime.

As ‘The Stranger', players will be taken on a harrowing journey back into the underground tunnels, facing mutants and human enemies alike. Our new protagonist will also be fully voiced as 4A Games looks to lean more into immersion and storytelling.

Metro 2039 will come to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S when it arrives. There is no exact release date yet but for now, it is expected in Winter 2026.

KitGuru Says: Are you looking forward to the return of Metro?

Capcom appears to be working on a massive Dragon’s Dogma 2 update

16 April 2026 at 12:00

For a while now there have been rumours floating around about a secret expansion for Dragon's Dogma 2. Now, we have our best evidence yet, as a mysterious 77GB patch for the game has been discovered on Steam.

The mysterious update, which was quickly hidden from public view in the Steam database, brought the game up from a 65GB install size to a 77GB install size, indicating that new content had been added to the game.

Adding fuel to the fire, Capcom recently shared new artwork for the game in celebration of its 2nd anniversary, revealing a mysterious new character with their back turned to the main party, wearing armour that can't currently be found in the game.

As Capcom does appear to at the very least be testing a new build of the game, we anticipate that an announcement will arrive within the next few months.

KitGuru Says: Dragon's Dogma saw huge updates with its Dark Arisen upgrade back in the day. Now fans are hoping that the sequel gets similar treatment.

Geekom A5 Pro Mini PC Review

15 April 2026 at 09:30

The Geekom A5 Pro (2026) is a £520 mini PC designed for everyday desktop computing, housed in an all-aluminium chassis. But sometimes hardware testing doesn't go exactly to plan – so this time around, when my primary home network server suddenly died, this compact machine was drafted into emergency service to act as a VPN server, OPNsense router / firewall. On paper this seemed like a tough challenge, but a month later has it been a success?

Timestamps:

00:00 Intro
01:33 How this happened
03:12 The Geekom A5 Pro – Hardware
05:12 The I/O and WAN / LAN
07:52 Proxmox Install and Configuration
09:37 Real World Performance
11:42 Thoughts?

Specifications:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen™ 5 7530U (6 Cores, 12 Threads, 16MB Cache, up to 4.5GHz).
  • Memory: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 SODIMM (Expandable up to 64GB).
  • Storage: 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD (Supports 1x 2280 PCIe & 1x 2242 SATA III).
  • Networking: 1x 2.5GbE LAN (Realtek Controller), Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2.
  • I/O Ports: 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, 3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 1x USB 2.0, 2x HDMI 2.0, SD Card Reader, 3.5mm Audio.
  • Chassis & Dimensions: All-Aluminium Unibody / 112.4 × 112.4 × 37 mm (0.47L).
  • Power Consumption: ~14W idle / ~40W peak.
  • Target Price: ~£520.

Closing Thoughts

The Geekom A5 Pro is a machine that massively exceeded our expectations, primarily because we threw it into a scenario it was never designed for. Rather than light web browsing, we tasked it with running Proxmox, an OPNsense router/firewall, Home Assistant, and multiple other Docker containers to replace a dead server. The Ryzen 5 7530U is incredibly capable; even when routing traffic for an entire home network, CPU utilization never crossed the 40% mark. Cooling was also very impressive given it also remained whisper-quiet, with temperatures hovering in the high 50s while drawing as little as 14 watts.

That said, repurposing a standard mini PC as a network server was an emergency plan and not really an ideal solution. Having only a single Ethernet port requires significant networking gymnastics (like using a managed switch and VLAN tagging) to route both WAN and LAN traffic over one cable. Furthermore, the Realtek network controller is less ideal than an Intel equivalent for virtualised routing, requiring hardware offloading to be disabled to maintain stability. We also noted that the RAM and SSD in our unit came from a relatively unknown brand called Wodposit, though the SSD speeds (7.2GB/s read) were good during large file transfers.

Ultimately, while running a home network on a single-port mini PC is an impractical long-term solution, this month-long experiment proves just how capable these small machines are. If you are looking to dip your toes into the world of self-hosting and home labs without driving up your energy bill, the Geekom A5 Pro is definitely a versatile piece of hardware.

Geekom also sent over the following retail links and discount code, but please note these are not affiliate links and we do not profit from any sales:

Pros:

  • Excellent CPU performance handles multitasking and virtualization with ease.
  • Power efficient, drawing between 14W and 40W.
  • Quiet operation and great thermal management.
  • Premium all-aluminum unibody chassis with generous I/O.
  • Fast NVMe SSD speeds despite the unknown manufacturer.

Cons:

  • Realtek networking controller requires software tweaking in Proxmox.
  • Uses lesser-known component brands for memory and storage.
  • Single Ethernet port.

KitGuru says: The Geekom A5 Pro might target the average user, but its power efficiency, metal chassis, and highly capable Ryzen processor make it a fantastic, affordable gateway into the world of self-hosting and home labs.

Thermalright is launching its first pre-built PC – the AI HydroNous R1

10 April 2026 at 15:30

After announcing at Computex that it would launch a full system, Thermalright has finally made its debut in the pre-built PC market with the AI HydroNous R1. The system features an LCD panel and is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, cooled by an integrated liquid-cooling unit.

As spotted by ITHome, the system houses an integrated 180mm AIO liquid cooler for the CPU, along with LCP fans, supporting a 176W TDP, far above the Ryzen AI Max+ 395's 120W limit. That means the cooler should allow the CPU to sustain boost clock speeds for longer periods of time. Unfortunately, we do not yet know what RAM the system uses.

The chassis includes a 4.6-inch front-facing monitoring screen managed via the TRCC software. This display provides real-time data, including CPU frequency, temperatures, load, time, and date. The interior is designed for user access, featuring two SSD slots positioned behind the left side panel and a dedicated heatsink.

Connectivity is distributed across the top, rear, and bottom of the case. The I/O includes two USB 4.0 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI output, and a DisplayPort. Networking is handled by dual Ethernet ports, providing 2.5GbE and 10GbE speeds. A 3.5mm audio jack and an SD card reader are also included.

KitGuru says: By the looks of it, the AI HydroNous R1 won't come cheap, but given it's from Thermalright, we might be surprised.

Ever Wondered Why PC Buyers Are Getting ‘Lucky’ With Their Amazon Packages Recently? It’s a Fiasco That Has Annoyed Retailers

9 April 2026 at 19:45

A package with the Amazon logo on a conveyor belt under red lighting in a warehouse setting.

While many of us rejoice when gamers get multiple RAM sticks despite ordering a single unit, this has been a nightmare for Amazon retailers, who, interestingly, cannot avoid it. Retailers Are 'Tired' By The Negligence of Amazon's Warehouse Staff, Saying That They Are Dispatching Entire Boxes of Components We have noticed a rather interesting trend among those in the PCMR: those who find it very appealing when Amazon screws up someone's package, ultimately benefiting them. We have reported numerous incidents where a particular buyer orders a unit of a PC component, prominently RAM or SSD, and in return, they manage […]

MSI introduces MAG Infinite S AI 2nd featuring a Core Ultra 7 CPU and an RTX 5070 Ti GPU

9 April 2026 at 15:30

MSI is expanding its presence in the pre-built PC market with the launch of the MAG Infinite S AI 2nd. This desktop aims to combine AI and gaming in a single box, pairing Intel's Core Ultra 7 265 with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 Ti to deliver enough horsepower for 4K gaming.

The backbone of this machine is the Blackwell-based RTX 5070 Ti, offering plenty of performance in both gaming and generative AI. By using an RTX 50 series GPU, users can benefit from the latest Nvidia features like DLSS 4 and DLSS 4.5, along with enhanced Frame Generation for a performance boost in demanding titles.

To keep this amount of power in check without sounding like a jet engine, MSI has introduced Silent Storm Cooling AI. The system uses a specialised AI layer to monitor component temperatures in real time, adjusting fans accordingly to find the sweet spot for thermal efficiency. There is also the MSI AI Engine, which automatically detects whether you are in a competitive Valorant match, a Zoom meeting, or watching a movie, and adjusts the PC's performance profiles accordingly.

While this is a pre-built PC, it is set up very similarly to a custom gaming rig, so you can easily swap out parts for future upgrades without messing around with any proprietary clips or mounting mechanisms.

ASUS is no stranger to collaborating with media franchises on special edition releases for their components. Most notably, anything from the ROG x EVANGELION collection becomes an instant collector's classic with a massive premium on the secondhand market. When ASUS UAE first reached out to me looking to sample the Flow Z13-KJP, I assumed it would be similar to those previous ROG collaborations: gear that looked decent and certainly amassed a fan following, but nothing really deeper than a decal slapped on existing components. Boy, was I wrong. What's In The Box Inside the box, you'll find the laptop along […]

Halo: Campaign Evolved tipped for July release

8 April 2026 at 12:45

It sounds like Halo: Campaign Evolved will be releasing much sooner than expected. The game was announced last year, with a vague 2026 release window but recent leaks point to a July release date.

In a cryptic tweet, dataminer @grunt.api revealed that Halo Campaign Evolved may be playable as early as July 23rd for premium edition pre-order buyers, followed by a wider release to all players and Game Pass subscribers on July 28th.

Halo Campaign Evolved is a modern rebuild of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign inside of Unreal Engine 5. It keeps the structure and narrative of the 2001 release but reworks levels, AI behaviour, combat flow and visuals to bring the experience in line with modern shooters.

Recently, it was also claimed that the new remake may also include a few extra campaign missions that expand lore and introduce enemies that were not originally present in the first Halo game.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: At this point in my life, I have played Halo 1 too many times on both Xbox and PC to really get excited for this remake. However, if you are someone who grew up with a PlayStation and never had the opportunity to play this campaign from start to finish, this should be worth picking up.

April’s Humble Choice line-up includes Assassin’s Creed, LOTR and more

8 April 2026 at 11:00

Each month, all those with a Humble Choice subscription are able to get their hands on a solid 8 titles for the relatively low price of £11.50. For the month of April, Humble is offering a variety of games both big and small, including the likes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla; Planet of Lana and The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.

Available to add to your library from now until the end of the month, April’s Humble Choice line-up features the following:

  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla
  • Daemon x Machina Titanic Scion
  • The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
  • Until Then
  • Planet of Lana
  • Artisan TD
  • The Procession to Calvary
  • Buddy Simulator 1984

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla needs little introduction, with the massive and sprawling open-world action-adventure RPG launching back in 2020 to somewhat mixed reviews. While in many ways the most refined version of Ubisoft’s RPG take on the AC franchise, its abundance of content and 100+ hour-long main campaign left many fatigued by the end. Still, if you aren’t burnt out by the franchise, Valhalla does have a lot to offer.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria meanwhile is a survival crafter in which you play as a dwarf embarking “on a new adventure to reclaim their legendary home of Moria beneath the Misty Mountains”. With pretty visuals, solid survival / building mechanics and a strong dedication to the IP (including the voicing talents of John Rhys-Davies as Gimli), Return to Moria is one of the better LotR games to have been released in quite some time.

Planet of Lana is a visually gorgeous puzzle-platformer which evokes major Ghibli vibes, telling the story of a “vibrant, beautiful planet” which has been invaded by a faceless army. Featuring “unique companion-based gameplay;” stealth; puzzles and platforming, Planet of Lana is certainly worth checking out.

Between AAA giants and indie hits, April’s Humble Choice line-up offers something for everyone.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this month’s offerings? What type of games do you subscribe to Humble Choice for? Let us know down below.

Arctic Senza Review (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 + Passive Cooling)

8 April 2026 at 10:17

The Arctic Senza promises the ultimate stealth PC experience by packing a 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and 32GB of LPDDR5X memory into a completely passive, desk mounted chassis. On paper, it looks like a whisper-quiet productivity powerhouse capable of handling heavy workloads without breaking a sweat or making a single sound. But does this fanless design actually hold up under sustained pressure, or do the inevitable compromises of a silent PC outweigh the engineering marvel?

Timestamps:

Specifications:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon 890M
  • Memory: 32GB LPDDR5X-8000Mhz
  • Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD
  • Cooling: Completely passive custom under-desk heatsink
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, 2.5Gbps LAN
  • Dimensions: 536mm (L) x 180mm (W) x 50mm (H)

Closing Thoughts

The Arctic Senza is a machine that left me profoundly conflicted. On one hand, the sheer engineering and build quality completely caught me off guard. The thick metal panels and massive central heatsink scream premium, successfully pushing the concept of whisper-quiet computing to the absolute extreme. Thermal performance is a solid 10/10 out of the box; even when unlocking the CPU power limit to 115W during a 12-hour 4K video encode, the massive passive cooler effortlessly kept temperatures in check. Performance-wise, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Radeon 890M combo delivers excellent results for heavy productivity and light 1080p gaming while sipping power from the wall.

On the other hand, the Senza is held back by a series of frustrating quirks. The front panel box feels like an afterthought compared to the main chassis. It has terrible audio shielding that results in interference on the headphone jack and I could barely get enough power to trickle charge another device.

Additionally, the system suffers from annoying connectivity bugs, including mediocre Wi-Fi 7 performance due to a problematic antenna setup, and random HDMI sleep/wake issues. Even the front power LED is entirely inconsistent, making it hard to tell what state the PC is in (a problem I found quite funny during the first days of testing but quickly found myself hating).

Ultimately, the Senza is a brilliant, unique piece of thermal engineering that I want to root for. It is the perfect foundation for a silent workstation, but it feels like it needs a slight revision to its peripherals and BIOS to achieve true perfection.

You can buy the Arctic Senza for €1,049 HERE.

Pros:

  • Incredible premium build quality and stealthy under-desk design.
  • Phenomenal passive cooling, even under sustained 12-hour heavy loads.
  • Excellent CPU performance and incredible power efficiency.
  • Completely silent operation.

Cons:

  • Front panel box feels cheap and suffers from audio interference.
  • Annoying HDMI sleep issues and an inconsistent power LED.
  • Mediocre Wi-Fi performance compared to other Wi-Fi 7 devices.
  • BIOS bugs and limited options

KitGuru says: The Arctic Senza is an absolute thermal engineering marvel that delivers massive silent performance, but it is somewhat let down by frustrating peripheral and connectivity quirks.

AMD’s Zen 6 CPUs rumoured to hit higher clock speeds than Intel Nova Lake

7 April 2026 at 15:50

New rumours surrounding AMD's next-generation Zen 6 processors have surfaced, indicating a renewed push for higher clock speeds.

The latest leaks from HXL (via Wccftech) suggest that Intel's Coyote Cove P-cores are poised to claim the IPC (Instructions Per Clock) crown. Rumours indicate that Intel's focus on a “wider” execution engine is paying off, allowing Nova Lake to process more instructions per cycle than AMD's upcoming Zen 6. However, IPC is only half the battle, as AMD is expected to counter this with raw speed.

Early reports for Zen 6 (codenamed Olympic Ridge) suggest that the move to TSMC's N2P (2nm) process is enabling clock speeds as high as 7.0GHz. This would represent a massive jump over the 5.7GHz boost clocks of the Ryzen 9000 series. To complement these speeds, AMD is also restructuring its chiplets, with Zen 6 reportedly moving to a 12-core CCD (Core Complex Die) design, enabling a 24-core flagship with better intra-core latency and a unified 48MB L3 cache per chiplet.

KitGuru says: If all of this proves true, then the next-generation desktop CPUs from Intel and AMD will be very interesting to compare when the time comes.

Mobile-exclusive DISSIDIA DUELLUM FINAL FANTASY could come to PC claims Square Enix

7 April 2026 at 14:00

Square Enix have had a long history in the mobile gaming space, with the publisher porting many of its popular titles to the likes of Android and iOS. Following the launch of their most recent release – the mobile exclusive DISSIDIA DUELLUM FINAL FANTASY – Square Enix have confirmed that they are “exploring the possibility of a PC version” though nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Taking part in an interview conducted by the publication Siliconera, DISSIDIA DUELLUM FINAL FANTASY producer Naoya Matsumoto was asked about the possibility of bringing the mobile-exclusive title to the likes of the PC platform in future, “considering it must be played in Portrait Mode.”

According to Matsumoto, “We opted for the vertical screen because the game's concept is to be a ‘casual competitive game that anyone can easily play.' We determined that portrait mode was the most suitable choice because we prioritized controls that allow for casual, one-handed play on smartphones.”

Final Fantasy Dissidia

Despite this, the producer did suggest that a wider release across more platforms is not out of the question, adding that “this constraint does not make a PC version impossible. While we cannot provide specific details at this time, we are currently exploring the possibility of a PC version.”

While far from official confirmation, the fact that Square Enix is ‘exploring’ the possibility means that it will quite likely find its way onto additional platforms eventually. Whether DISSIDIA DUELLUM would resonate with a wider audience remains to be seen, but given that the last major entry from a decade ago (Dissidia Final Fantasy NT) did eventually arrive on both PC and consoles, it is entirely possible.

We will have to wait and see, but in the meantime, DISSIDIA DUELLUM FINAL FANTASY is available to download now on iOS and Android.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the Dissidia sub-series? Is it more suited to mobile platforms? Would you want its console / PC release to be 1:1 with the mobile version, or should they turn it into a premium paid product? Let us know your thoughts down below.

PlayStation removes most PC mentions from its website

6 April 2026 at 13:00

Sony appears to be performing a U-turn on its PC strategy. While Microsoft is moving toward a platform-agnostic future, Sony is reportedly doubling down on the PlayStation console ecosystem. This shift is no longer merely a rumour. It's now reflected on the official PlayStation Studios website, where the company has begun scrubbing mentions of PC from studio descriptions in favour of emphasising exclusivity.

The most visible evidence of this strategy change is in the updated profiles of key support studios. As noted by @Zuby_Tech (via GameObserver), Valkyrie Entertainment, which was once explicitly noted for its work across console and PC, has had PC removed from its description. Similarly, XDev's description has changed to mention “exclusive titles for PlayStation players worldwide”, moving away from its previous, more platform-agnostic language. Nixxes Software remains the only studio still mentioning PC porting in its description, which likely suggests that while the initiative is being scaled back, Sony still intends to maintain its existing library and perhaps some specific live-service commitments.

Also noted by @Zuby_Tech, was the removal of the “Cross Buy” and “PS5/PC” icons from the PlayStation backend, further strengthening the belief that for Sony PlayStation, PC won't be a priority at all.

Financial reasons likely drive this retreat from the PC platform. Internal reports suggest that Sony's first-party single-player titles generated approximately $300 million in PC revenue over the last three years. While a significant sum, it is effectively a rounding error when compared to the billions generated by the PS4 and PS5 ecosystems. Sony's leadership reportedly believes that the accessibility of these titles on Steam undermines the “must-have” nature of its hardware, particularly as it prepares for the upcoming PlayStation 6 development cycle.

Moving forward, the era of a 12-to-18-month window for PC ports appears to be over for single-player AAA games from PlayStation Studios. If these games ever reach PC at all, the gap will likely widen, returning to the strategy Sony used at the dawn of the PS5 era.

KitGuru says: Do you think the lack of PC ports will actually drive people back to buying PlayStation consoles?

2 April 2026 at 08:30

Since as far back as 2017, Garry’s Mod creator Garry Newman has been working on a spiritual successor to the iconic Source Engine-based sandbox. Utilising Valve's new Source 2 Engine, Newman’s upcoming project – s&box – has now finally gotten an official release date.

Almost a decade after it was first announced (and years on from its initial closed tests) the long-awaited spiritual successor to the highly-popular Garry’s Mod is finally almost here, with the ‘game creation platform’ s&box officially launching on the 28th of April 2026.

No price has been given for the game, but considering that the original Garry’s Mod costs just £6.99 (and the fact that s&box focuses on revenue through user-generated content) expect it to be pleasantly affordable.

s&box mod

Garry’s Mod was a major part of Steam’s early success, with the creative platform garnering over 25 million copies sold throughout the years.

With s&box set to be everything its predecessor was and so much more, here’s to hoping that the past decade of work proves to be fruitful.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for this spiritual successor? Will it hit the same as the OG Garry’s Mod? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Crimson Desert climbs up to ‘very positive’ score on Steam across over 100k reviews

1 April 2026 at 08:30

Crimson Desert was a hotly-anticipated brand new IP prior to its official launch earlier this month, with the ambitious open-world title garnering a ton of attention thanks to its pretty visuals, freeform gameplay and player agency. Upon its launch however, the game suffered from a number of issues, including rather awkward controls. Fortunately, the team at Pearl Abyss have been quick to respond to criticisms – with Crimson Desert having now climbed its way to a ‘Very Positive’ score on Steam.

With over 100,000 Steam reviews, Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert has managed to claw its way into a strong position, currently sitting at a Steam Score of ‘Very Positive’.

This marks a stark difference from its launch reception, which saw roughly 2/5ths of all reviews landing at a ‘Negative’.

Thanks to a number of patches as well as rather candid responses from the studio’s CEO, opinions on Crimson Desert have shifted. As mentioned, not only has the game managed to climb out of its mixed review status, but a solid number of the prior negative reviews have since been altered.

Positive Steam

In case you missed it, Pearl Abyss have offered quite a few hints at what to expect from the game’s future, suggesting that Crimson Desert could receive free updates and even robust modding tools.

Considering the fact that Crimson Desert released just two weeks ago, the current shift in perception towards the title is interesting to see – and shows how big of a deal listening to fan feedback can be.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Crimson Desert two weeks following launch? Are you pleased with its current state? Let us know down below.
