Why PC Game System Requirements Are Often Misleading

4 June 2026 at 22:04

A graphic titled 'Why PC Game System Requirements Are Often Misleading' shows a screen comparing 'Minimum' and 'Recommended' specs, highlighting discrepancies like 'Unequivalent GPUs?' and 'Incorrect VRAM amounts?', alongside visuals emphasizing issues like 'Fake CPUs' and 'Upscaling Tricks'.

PC system requirements should be simple. You look at the minimum, recommended, and potentially higher-tier specs, compare them to your rig, and get a solid idea of what to expect. Easy enough, right? Well, not anymore, sadly. Over the last decade or so, PC game system requirements (or PC specs) have become incredibly messy, inconsistent, and sometimes borderline useless. We are dealing with vague targets, aggressive temporal upscaling hidden behind an inconspicuous “1080p” or “4K” label, and "60 FPS" targets that incredibly rely on frame generation, which is absolutely not the same thing as actually rendering 60 full game frames […]

‘Rayman Legends Retold’ Remake officially announced and dated

3 June 2026 at 12:00

For years now we’ve been hearing that Ubisoft has been trying to bring back the Rayman series, with the last entry – Legends – releasing all the way back in 2013. In an interesting announcement, the publisher officially unveiled a brand new yet-familiar title, with Rayman Legends Retold launching this October.

Announced during Sony’s recent State of Play showcase, Rayman Legends Retold is a remake of their most recent entry – 2013’s Legends. That said, the game in many ways looks entirely different when compared to the original, featuring new cinematic cutscenes with dialogue, direction and even a talking Rayman.

Gameplay-wise, the remake introduces new perspectives, embracing the 2.5D aesthetic and including 3D visuals, “breaking up the 2D perception by bending the playground, tilting the camera, and dynamizing in-game cutscenes, improving player immersion.”

Of course, Rayman Legends is all about the music, and so Retold has been re-tooled with an expanded soundtrack by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.

Though it may seem odd that their most recent game is the first one to be remade, the changes shown off do indicate that a great deal of work and effort has gone into Rayman Legends Retold. Hopefully this serves as a jumping-off point for future original releases.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the announcement? Did they do enough to justify the remake’s existence? Would you like to see a fully-3D Rayman again? Let us know down below.

Rayman Legends Retold Hands-On: Ubisoft’s $40 Remake Is Gorgeous, But I Kept Asking Who It’s Actually For

2 June 2026 at 22:00

Characters from 'Rayman Legends Retold' are depicted in a fantastical landscape featuring lush greenery, a large sleeping dragon, and a fairy holding a glowing orb.

The start of 2026 was the beginning of a new era for Ubisoft, kicking off in upsetting fashion with a "major reset" that reorganized the company into multiple Creative Houses and resulted in the layoff of hundreds of developers. As the company continues to mark down losses while trying to establish a new foundation, part of that new foundation means retreating back to a classic franchise well, with the reveal of Rayman Legends Retold. It's a remake of the 2013 platforming classic Rayman Legends, with original developer Ubisoft Montpellier behind the remake alongside Ubisoft Milan, which comes as less of […]

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced – Everything We Know About the Remake of Edward Kenway’s Pirate Adventure

24 May 2026 at 14:00

Edward Kenway in 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced' stands on a pirate ship with a sword and pistol, surrounded by crew members and a distant ship on the ocean.

There's little doubt that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is among the dearest franchise entries to fans, which makes it easy to understand why Ubisoft would pick it as the first proper remake (others will probably follow, starting with the first installment): Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. While naval gameplay had been introduced by Assassin's Creed III one year prior, Black Flag took it to the next level and empowered players to freely roam the Caribbean, therefore embodying any pirate's true mandate: freedom. Now, Edward Kenway returns in a refreshed game that features several changes both over and under the […]

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake will not include ‘modern-day’ storyline

22 May 2026 at 13:00

When Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag first launched more than a decade ago, Ubisoft was still mixing in ‘modern day' story elements into the Assassin's Creed games. Since then, this portion of the series' storytelling has been dropped almost entirely. Now with the Black Flag Remake coming up, Ubisoft has confirmed that it has removed all of the ‘modern day' scenes.

While Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is billed as a ‘faithful remake' it will have at least one major story change compared to the original. The modern-day sequences from the original release will not return in the remake.

Speaking on the decision, Black Flag Resynced creative director, Paul Fu, told VGC that this was done to avoid confusing newer fans who aren't familiar with the older titles and their modern-day plotlines. They felt that it would be ‘jarring' to keep those sequences in when current Assassin's Creed titles don't touch on the ‘modern' timeline at all.

In the original version of Black Flag, the modern-day scenario had players taking on the role of a producer for Abstergo Entertainment, researching the pirate Edward Kenway for an upcoming movie. In all honesty, it didn't add much and wasn't all that memorable, so leaving this side story on the cutting room floor makes sense. The modern-day sequences from Black Flag onwards were not nearly as memorable or as important to the overall story compared to the modern-day story line from the first three games.

KitGuru Says: Are you planning on picking up Black Flag Resynced when it lands in July?

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Game Director Promises 6 Extra Hours of Content and Deeper Pirate Exploration

21 May 2026 at 18:00

Edward Kenway from Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced stands on a pirate ship, holding two pistols against a backdrop of the ocean and islands.

At the recent Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced hands-on event organized by Ubisoft in San Francisco, California, Wccftech had the opportunity to interview Richard Knight, the Game Director of this highly anticipated remake. Knight, whose Ubisoft Singapore credits include Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Mirage, and Skull and Bones, said the goal was to focus the remake on Edward Kenway’s story and adventure. That meant modern technical upgrades, a more seamless open world, and a handful of new gameplay additions, while trimming elements such as multiplayer and the original game's modern-day stuff. The result, he said, is meant to feel like a […]

Ubisoft has a new Ghost Recon game in the works

21 May 2026 at 15:00

Aside from plans to produce the first ‘Generative AI game', Ubisoft does have more traditional titles in the works for release over the next couple of years. In its latest earnings report, Ubisoft confirmed that it will be launching new Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Ghost Recon games.

As part of Ubisoft's end of fiscal year earnings report (via VGC), the company said that three of its biggest franchises, Ghost Recon, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry, will get new games before March 2029. Ubisoft also expects a “strong rebound” during the next fiscal year, indicating that most of these new projects will be targeting 2027/2028

Ubisoft should have a successful 2026 as well, thanks to continued strong performance from Rainbow Six Siege, as well as new games like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, which launches in July.

Unfortunately, this earnings report did not bring any update on the status of the Splinter Cell remake, which has been in development for several years at this point.

Ubisoft now wants to make ‘first GenAI game’

21 May 2026 at 14:00

Ubisoft has often jumped at the chance to embrace new technology, to varying degrees of success. Many of you will remember the Ghost Recon NFT saga from a few years back. Now that ‘blockchain gaming' hasn't really taken off, Ubisoft has shifted its efforts towards Generative AI.

Ubisoft has confirmed this week that it is investing in Generative AI, in hopes of making the “first playable Generative AI experience”. The game, which is already in the works, is named “teammates” according to Ubisoft's earnings report.

Here is the full quote (via VGC): “Ubisoft is accelerating investments behind Teammates, its first playable Generative AI experience, to enrich player experiences, while teams are making tangible progress organically on AI applications that can help manage the growing complexity of modern game development pipelines. This ranges from more intelligent bots supporting our QC teams, to smarter NPCs and game worlds that can adapt to player behavior and react more dynamically in real time.”

In a now deleted tweet, Tom Henderson has also reported that Ubisoft is experimenting with Generative AI in one of its more popular IP – Far Cry. With that said, Far Cry 7 is not expected to ship with any GenAI features in place, so this appears to be a purely experimental effort, while Teammates is an actual game built entirely around the technology.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe will include a surprise returning character according to insider

13 May 2026 at 10:15

While Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced remake marks the next entry in Ubisoft’s AC series to be released, the publisher is currently working on a number of different offerings slated to arrive over the next few years. One of the most anticipated is Assassin’s Creed Hexe – a more linear entry which will take players to 16th Century Europe. While official details remain light, insiders have now offered a ton of leaked information on what to expect from this upcoming release.

As reported by known Ubisoft insider ‘Rogue’ (and collated by Reddit user ZamnBoii) a number of voice lines pertaining to Assassin’s Creed Hexe have leaked, confirming a number of story and gameplay details.

Those more spoiler conscious might want to refrain from reading any further, but as revealed by the leaked dialogue, none other than Ezio Auditore himself will make an appearance in Hexe.

Creed Hexe

While unexpected, according to the leaks Hexe’s main protagonist Anika (previously known as Elsa) is a descendent of Claudia Auditore – Ezio’s sister.

In terms of gameplay, fewer details were shared. That said, according to Rogue there will be an unlockable skill allowing for “tree-to-tree branch jumping”. Additionally, though not contextualised, there will also be a mechanic in which NPCs will be able to report minor suspicious activities, requiring players to be a bit more careful.

Full details on the leaked dialogue (including additional lines from Ezio) can be found HERE.

Ubisoft’s multiplayer Assassin’s Creed Invictus reportedly “really bad” in its current state

5 May 2026 at 11:00

As part of Ubisoft’s renewed focus on its core franchises, the publisher is currently working on a number of different titles in the Assassin’s Creed universe. One of its more experimental projects – the multiplayer-focused Invictus – is reportedly struggling somewhat, with recent playtests said to have been “really bad.”

As reported by known Assassin’s Creed leaker xj0nathan. Ubisoft recently held a playtest for Assassin’s Creed Invictus. Unfortunately, responses to the test were less than stellar, with the insider claiming (as translated by ResetEra user ‘RandomlyRandom67’):

“There were tests of Assassin's Creed Invictus last month (April 30th to be exact) and I was told that it was really bad. It should be released at the end of the year but there is a good chance that it will be postponed or even canceled.”

While not officially confirmed, previous leaks claimed that AC: Invictus will be a competitive multiplayer entry which borrows elements from the likes of Fall Guys.

Creed Invictus

Of course, aesthetically the two will likely be wholly different, but the claims suggest that this PvP title will take on a similar formula – perhaps putting emphasis on clean parkour movements.

In recent months Ubisoft has been rather quick to cancel or postpone projects which aren’t going according to plan, and so it will be interesting to see whether Assassin’s Creed Invictus manages to make its way out of the testing phase and into fans’ hands.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era surpasses 250,000 sales in first 24 hours

4 May 2026 at 14:00

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has recouped its entire development budget within 24 hours of its Steam Early Access launch. Developer Unfrozen and publisher Hooded Horse confirmed the milestone following the game's release on April 30th, which saw the title surpass 250,000 copies sold during its first day on sale.

The game launched to a “Very Positive” reception on Steam, maintaining a 89% positive rating across almost 5,000 user reviews (at the time of writing). According to developer data, the title reached a concurrent player peak of over 50,000 users shortly after its debut. Before launch, Olden Era had secured a position in the top 10 most-wishlisted games on Steam, accumulating over 1.5 million wishlists.

Unfrozen stated in a Steam announcement that the launch success exceeded internal expectations. The studio noted that the initial release includes the first act of the narrative campaign, six playable factions (Temple, Necropolis, Sylvan, Dungeon, Hive, and an unrevealed sixth faction), and multiple multiplayer modes.

The project features creative advisory from series creator Jon Van Caneghem and music by original composer Paul Romero. While the game has met its development financial targets, Unfrozen intends to use Early Access feedback to address initial player reports on AI balancing and to complete the remaining campaign acts.

Mobile-focused The Division Resurgence is available now on PC

29 April 2026 at 09:00

Following the conclusion of their post-launch support for The Division 2, fans of the franchise had mostly been kept in the dark, with a number of projects (such as The Division Heartland) ultimately being cancelled before they could see the light of day. One project which did make it past the finish line was The Division Resurgence. In a surprise announcement, Ubisoft have now confirmed that the free-to-play mobile release is also available now on PC.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the official Division Resurgence page confirmed that “#TDResurgence is now available on PC through Ubisoft Connect!!!”

The Division Resurgence PC

While an unexpected surprise, it appears as though a PC port was in the works for some time, with this latest release said to include full crossplay support with iOS/Android alongside both controller and keyboard/mouse inputs.

Of course, a proper 3rd entry in The Division is on its way, with early statements from Ubisoft claiming that it is “shaping up to be a monster”. With no release date nor any footage in sight however, The Division Resurgence should serve as a suitable replacement in the meantime.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the current state of The Division franchise? Do you have any interest in Resurgence? Let us know down below.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Reportedly Undergoes More Development Turmoil, Slips to 2027 Launch Window and Loses 50 Developers

27 April 2026 at 14:54

A witchcraft symbol made of twigs and rope hangs in a dark, eerie forest setting.

There's something in the water about Assassin's Creed Hexe. Barely two months ago, it was the project that was showing major promise and the one that "everyone at Ubisoft wants to work on," according to insider reports. Amidst the company's turmoil of the "major reset" it underwent to start 2026, Hexe seemed like one of the bright spots for the company's future. Well, that has quickly changed after it lost two major creative leads and is now losing another 50 developers while also getting pushed out of its previous 2026 release window into a potentially late 2027 release window. Assassin’s Creed 1 may be the next game to get a remake

27 April 2026 at 13:00

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been officially announced to the world and Ubisoft has teased plans for future remakes. One renowned Ubisoft-focused leaker has claimed that Assassin's Creed 1 will be the next game to get this treatment.

According to j0nathan, who has accurately leaked Assassin's Creed details in the past, Assassin's Creed will be the next game in the series to get a remake and has been planned since 2023.

Assassin's Creed 1 has the biggest opportunity for Ubisoft to make some real quality of life improvements. The original game is hard to go back to nowadays with its more dated movement and exploration mechanics.

Previous rumours have claimed that Ubisoft already had another Assassin's Creed remake project cooking up alongside Black Flag Resynced, so if J0nathan is correct, then Assassin's Creed 1 Remake may only be a few years away.

KitGuru Says: Assassin's Creed 1 is perhaps the one game in the series in desperate need of a remake. However, not all fans may want a totally overhauled experience, so it will be interesting to see how many changes Ubisoft commits to if this game really is in development.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Breathes New Life into the “Ultimate Pirate Fantasy” Game

23 April 2026 at 16:15

Edward Kenway in 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced' stands on a pirate ship with a sword and pistol, surrounded by crew members and a distant ship on the ocean.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced can comfortably be described as the worst-kept secret in gaming history, with its long story of rumors and leaks of all kinds. The official reveal is here at last, though, and it's juicy. The presentation opened with Matt Ryan (who was among the "leakers" last year), the voice actor of protagonist Edward Kenway, confirming that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake, not a reinvention. It is entirely rebuilt from the ground up using the latest version of Ubisoft's Anvil engine while preserving the original story and character arc. Notably, the original game will remain available after the […]

Ubisoft is reportedly working on more Assassin’s Creed remakes

22 April 2026 at 08:30

After years of leaks, rumours and a great deal of anticipation, Ubisoft is set to finally properly show off their Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced remake tomorrow. It appears however that Black Flag is not the only title set to receive the remake treatment, with insiders claiming that at least one other AC title is currently being remade – with more potentially coming down the line.

Ahead of the official public-facing reveal for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, known industry leaker Tom Henderson took to Insider-Gaming to offer some new details regarding the upcoming remake, while also teasing future plans.

Alongside the claims that Resynced will not feature any of Black Flag’s original DLC or multiplayer elements, Henderson revealed that Ubisoft is also working on other similar remake projects, stating:

“Insider Gaming understands that at least one more Assassin’s Creed game is in development as a remake, and that future remakes will enter development depending on how well Black Flag Resynced performs.”

Creed Ubisoft

Unfortunately, we did not get any further details on which AC title is being referred to here. Based on the franchise’s history of releases however, it will most likely be one of the earlier entries (meaning Assassin’s Creed 1; the Ezio trilogy or AC III).

Either way, we will have to wait and see how Black Flag Resynced is received and whether fans express their desires to see more remakes in a similar manner.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Leak Shows The Remake Days Early, And Side-by-Side With the 2013 Original Is Massive

21 April 2026 at 15:09

A character from Assassin's Creed: Black Flag ReSYnced stands on a ship with ropes in the background.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced continues to be one leaky ship. After the game's existence was revealed long before its official announcement (something that Ubisoft itself acknowledged), new footage of the highly anticipated remake leaked online, showing how the game's visuals will be on par with those of the best-looking entry in the series to date: last year's Assassin's Creed Shadows. The leaked footage, shared on X by KAMI, is most likely lifted from the game's official trailer which will officially make its debut in a few days, on April 23. Ubisoft is Reportedly Giving its Assassin’s Creed Remakes One (Maybe Two) Chances to Succeed, Starting With Black Flag Resynced

21 April 2026 at 14:14

A character from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag wades through shallow water with a ship in the background.

Ubisoft's chief executive officer, Yves Guillemot, personally confirmed back in 2024 that "players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them." Now, the first of those remakes is almost here with Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, and according to a new report, the rest of the remakes players might hope to see follow Black Flag won't make it out to store shelves if Black Flag doesn't fly off those same walls.
