Ghost Recon Wildlands appears to be getting a 4K60fps update on current-gen consoles

21 July 2026 at 11:00

Ubisoft has been one of the better publishers when it comes to updating its 8th-gen titles for modern platforms. While the extent of each patch has varied, Ghost Recon Wildlands appears to be set to receive a pretty substantial update, with users noting marketing materials advertising an upcoming 4K60FPS ‘Definitive Edition.’

As reported by multiple users, Ubisoft appears to be gearing up to announce a ‘Definitive Edition’ of 2017’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. Taking to the game’s subreddit, users shared a splash screen which seems to confirm that Ghost Recon Wildlands will be receiving an update in August, bringing some cosmetic packs alongside a ‘new mission’.

By far the most exciting part of the update however is the fact that Wildlands will seemingly be updated with full 4K and 60fps support (compared to its current 1440p 30fps offering).

Ghost Recon Wildlands

Of course, we will have to wait for official confirmation from Ubisoft themselves before jumping to conclusions. That being said, the publisher has somewhat acknowledged the leaks, recently taking to Twitter to write: “It’s been a while Ghosts! We know some of you saw some updates, we’ll have more to say on the 6th of August when we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Ghost Recon. Intel coming soon.”

Given that the August date lines up with the aforementioned splash screen, it’s safe to assume that the information is legit. It will be interesting to learn whether this update will bring with it a bespoke current-gen app, or if it will function more as a backwards compatible+ type of experience. We shouldn’t have to wait long to find out.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Ghost Recon Wildlands? How does it compare to 2019’s breakpoint? What other Ubisoft games do you hope will receive a current-gen update? Let us know down below.

The RTX 5090 Edition 20 turned out to be incredibly expensive, as expected. However, it's not over $7,000 as we previously assumed. ASUS Lists ROG Astral RTX 5090 Edition 20 for $5,499 on Official Store, Making it More Expensive Than Matrix Platinum and BTF Edition A few days ago, we saw the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Edition 20 listed on an EU store LDLC. It was listed for over $7,000 after conversion from Euros to USD, but since the hardware incurs VAT, the prices in EU are much higher than in the US. Still, we could already see a hefty […]

Dead By Daylight celebrates 10th anniversary with major overhaul, Scooby-Doo crossover and more

16 June 2026 at 12:00

Dead By Daylight is arguably one of the most popular horror games of all time, with the asymmetrical multiplayer title attracting over 60 million players since its initial release back in 2016. Celebrating the game’s 10th anniversary, the team at Behaviour Interactive have detailed a ton of changes and additions coming over the course of the next year – including major visual overhauls; gameplay additions and a bunch of surprise crossovers.

In celebration of Dead By Daylight’s 10th anniversary, the team at Behaviour Interactive hosted a stream in which they announced loads of exciting changes and additions coming to the popular multiplayer title over the coming year.

As part of DBD’s Year 11 roadmap, the studio confirmed that they will be expanding on a number of their past crossovers, revealing that The Walking Dead’s Glenn and Negan will be added as cosmetic variants for their Rick Grimes survivor, with Silent Hill also seeing new representation in the form of Shimizu Hinako and the Bubble Head Nurse from Silent Hill f (again, both as cosmetic variants).

In terms of new collabs, Dead By Daylight is set to receive a crossover with Diablo IV this October alongside “one of the community’s most requested collaborations” a Scooby-Doo crossover later this year – though potentially only as cosmetic variants. One collab which will definitely introduce a new playable character however is with Damien Leone’s ‘Terrifier’.

Dead By Daylight Anniversary

Gameplay-wise, Dead By Daylight is also seeing plenty of additions, including a dynamic weather system, new events, modifiers, maps and more.

Perhaps the biggest change coming is in its visuals, with Behaviour Interactive giving fans an early look at their plans for 2027 which includes “upgraded character models, more expressive facial animations, enhanced environments […] improved audio, voice lines for all original characters, and a deeper Entity presence.”

These additions are all said to be in service of ensuring that Dead By Daylight can remain active for the next 10 years, “doubling down on evolving its current foundation” instead of moving on to a sequel.

As mentioned, Dead By Daylight is one of the biggest horror games around, and so it is exciting to see the team continuing to introduce major and sweeping changes / additions over a decade on from its initial launch. Full details on their planned roadmap can be found HERE.

Microsoft announces limited edition 25th anniversary ‘Xbox Series X25’ console

8 June 2026 at 11:30

2026 is a big year for Xbox. Alongside the many different sweeping changes which are being conducted both behind-the-scenes and directly as a result of fan feedback, this year represents the Xbox’s 25th anniversary. As they have done for previous milestones, Microsoft have now announced the limited edition Xbox Series X25 – featuring a throwback translucent green design.

Officially announced during the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft showed off the Xbox Series X25 – a limited edition console celebrating the brand’s 25th anniversary in the gaming industry.

Arriving this November, the console includes a ton of hallmarks to the early 2000s gaming space, featuring a bright green translucent case for both the console itself and the controller.

Additionally, the classic ABXY buttons have been redesigned to look closer to the original, with the Xbox button taking on a green glow – calling back “to the moment the first green ‘X’ burst onto the scene.”

Neither a price nor a unit count has been provided, and so we will have to wait and see how plentiful this limited edition system winds up being. That said, if you already own an Xbox Series X, Microsoft will also be selling the controller separately.

Official pricing and pre-order details are said to be provided “soon” so make sure to keep an eye out if you are wanting to get your hands on this special bit of hardware.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the design? Does it remind you of the OG Xbox? Do you plan on picking up the controller / the full console? Let us know down below.

Sky: Children of the Light surpasses 300 million downloads as ThatGameCompany celebrates 20th anniversary

19 May 2026 at 10:00

ThatGameCompany is perhaps known best for their work during the PlayStation 3 era, with the indie studio releasing a number of iconic titles including flOw; Flower and most famously Journey. Taking inspiration from their past projects while expanding upon it, the team released Sky: Children of the Light back in 2019 – a free-to-play live-service offering. Over half a decade on and the game is going stronger than ever, with ThatGameCompany revealing that Sky has surpassed over 300 million downloads.

Celebrating the studio’s 20th anniversary, ThatGameCompany shared a heartfelt message to its fans, writing: “Twenty years ago we had one belief: that a game could be beautiful, wordless, and still move you. Every player who floated through flOw, bloomed through Flower, reached the mountain peak through Journey, or found their flock in Sky… you are the heart of everything we do. We couldn't have built any of it without you. Thank you. Here's to the next 20!”

As part of the celebrations, the studio revealed that their ongoing free-to-play Sky; Children of the Light has been a massive success, amassing over 300 million downloads since its initial Early Access launch (first on iOS) back in 2019.

In discussing its future, the team confirmed that they have a number of unannounced projects in the works, stating: “While new projects are already in development behind the scenes, the studio will continue to invest in the future of Sky: Children of the Light, expanding its world through new experiences, storytelling and community-driven initiatives that deepen the connection between players both in and outside the game.”

Sky: Children of the Light and TheGameCompany’s entire output as a whole is highly unique and rather experimental, and so it is encouraging to see hundreds of millions of players come to appreciate the studio’s work. It will be interesting to see where ThatGameCompany goes from here.

Terraria celebrates 15th anniversary as the game surpasses 70 million copies sold

18 May 2026 at 09:15

Terraria is not only one of the biggest indie games of all time, but also represents one of the best-selling games in history – nestled in between The Witcher 3 and PUBG with over 70 million copies sold. Celebrating the game’s 15th anniversary, the team at Re-Logic have shared a ton of interesting stats / player data.

Taking to their Steam page to celebrate the milestone, the team at Re-Logic wrote: “Fifteen Years?! That is a long time indeed! That's 131,400 hours – which quite a few of you have chosen to spend with our humble game. To say that reaching this milestone is equal parts insane and humbling is a massive understatement.”

They continued, “Your support allows us to keep going, keep expanding upon Terraria, without having to fall back to price increases or microtransactions. This is becoming increasingly rare in modern gaming, and we cannot thank you enough for making what we do every day possible.”

Terraria Player

With that, the team shared a bunch of interesting data pertaining to Terraria from the past decade and half. While it was already known that the game has sold over 70 million copies, Re-Logic revealed that 39.6 million came from PC, 19.7 million on mobile and 10.7 million on consoles.

Amongst all 70 million players, the average total hours played (on PC) exceeds 101 hours – not bad for a game which costs less than a tenner. Furthermore, despite its age, the game remains as popular as ever, with the past year seeing an average daily player count of 461,000; peaking at 1.4 million.

15 years on and Terraria is still seeing improvements, with the team teasing that the next major update will introduce crossplay support – adding that “Terraria Updates will continue beyond 1.4.6/Crossplay.”

The team concluded by stating: “we have other plans and ideas that we will share when the time is right, but suffice to say that the world of Terraria remains and will remain vibrant and alive for as long as we have anything to say about it! Here's to 15 more years… and beyond!”

KitGuru says: When did you first check out Terraria? How many hours have you put in? Let us know down below.

8BitDo celebrates Apple’s 50th anniversary with AP50 aluminum keyboard

3 April 2026 at 15:00

8BitDo is moving from its affordable retro roots into the high-end market with its latest keyboard release, the AP50. Created to commemorate Apple's 50th anniversary, this limited edition mechanical keyboard is a love letter to the Apple II. While the beige and brown colourway screams 70s, the construction is strictly modern, aimed squarely at the “endgame” mechanical keyboard community and serious collectors.

The AP50 (via ITHome) is a departure from typical plastic-shell retro peripherals. It features a full CNC-machined aluminium chassis, an aluminium internal plate, and even all-aluminium keycaps. This material choice results in a staggering weight of 2.2 kg, making it one of the heaviest 65% keyboards on the market. To ensure that typing on metal feels as good as it looks, 8BitDo has utilised a gasket-mount system to provide the cushioned, flexible feel and superior acoustics that modern enthusiasts demand.

The board is outfitted with Kailh Box Ice Cream Pro Max switches that deliver smooth linear travel and a “creamy” sound profile. For those who prefer a different tactile experience, the PCB is fully hot-swappable, making it easy to switch without a soldering iron. Despite the old-school look, the board is packed with modern features, including per-key RGB backlighting and deep programmability via the 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2. However, users can also map macros directly on the board for a software-free experience.

Connectivity is quite versatile, offering a tri-mode setup that includes 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth LE, and a traditional wired USB-C connection. It is fully compatible with macOS, Windows 10, and Android. Powering the wireless experience is a substantial 6500 mAh battery that claims up to 300 hours of use on a single charge, though a full top-up via the USB-C port takes roughly 9 hours. 8BitDo also includes its signature Wireless Dual Super Buttons in the box: two oversized, programmable macro pads that mirror the keyboard's retro aesthetic. The 8BitDo AP50 is currently priced at $499.99.

KitGuru says: While that price tag might cause some shock for those used to the brand's budget-friendly NES and Commodore 64 homages, the move to all-aluminium construction and a limited-edition run places it in direct competition with high-end custom group buys and luxury gaming peripherals.

Arctic celebrates 25-year anniversary with big sale

18 March 2026 at 09:00

In 2026, Arctic is turning 25. Since its formation in 2001, Arctic has remained true to its core mission: delivering high-performance thermal solutions, such as the legendary Liquid Freezer and MX-series thermal pastes, at an affordable price. This year to celebrate the anniversary, Arctic will be running a number of special offer promotions, so you will want to keep an eye out for discounts in the weeks and months ahead.

To celebrate this 25-year journey, the manufacturer has announced a year-long series of special offers and community activities, most of which will be announced in the future on its social media channels and website. However, we already know of one.

The first promotion to be launched as part of the 25th-year celebration is for the new Xtender case. While Arctic is primarily known for its cooling components, the Xtender (and its high-performance sibling, the Xtender VG) represents the company's ambitious move into the premium chassis market. Launched in late 2025, the Xtender is an E-ATX high-airflow case with a panoramic tempered-glass design and an illuminated PSU shroud.

The official details of the promotion will be revealed across the company's social media channels and newsletters in the coming weeks. Still, if we had to guess, it should be something similar to the 23rd anniversary celebration, which cut prices by 23% on most of the company's lineup.

The Division 2 hits new all-time player counts on Steam following anniversary update

10 March 2026 at 12:00

At the start of the year, Ubisoft announced a surprise update for The Division 2, unveiling a new Realism mode in celebration of the franchise’s 10th anniversary. This was but the start of their anniversary plans however, with Ubisoft unveiling a full 2026 roadmap. The resurgence in support from the publisher has led to a surge in players, with The Division 2 hitting a new all-time peak concurrent player count on Steam – almost double its previous high.

Ubisoft has kicked off its 10 year anniversary Division plans with the launch of their new Anniversary Season; offering a bunch of cool cosmetics alongside the game’s exciting Realism Mode. This, in addition to the promise of future content throughout 2026 seems to have led to a spike in players.

While the title initially released on PC in 2019 as an Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect exclusive, The Division 2 ultimately landed on Steam in January of 2023 – years on from its initial launch – and so its peak concurrent player count on the platform was far from flattering (maxing out at 14,858 CCU).

The Division Steam

Thanks to this latest update however, The Division 2’s CCU on Steam has almost doubled its previous peak, resting at 27,482 players.

While The Division 2 did receive plenty of post-launch support in its time, this recent influx in popularity proves that there is interest in this world still – and bodes well for the upcoming Division 3.

The Division 2 to get crossplay, new DLC and more throughout 2026

4 March 2026 at 11:15

Back during the early days of 2026, Ubisoft announced a surprise update for The Division 2, unveiling a new Realism mode in celebration of the franchise’s 10th anniversary. It appears as though this was just the start of The Division’s revival, with the publisher now sharing a roadmap full of new content planned throughout 2026.

Taking to their blog in celebration of the franchise’s 10th anniversary, the team at Ubisoft hosted a showcase featuring a ton of new and surprising updates coming to The Division 2.

From now until the 2nd of April, The Division 2 is hosting a month-long anniversary Season, bringing in the aforementioned Realism mode alongside other notable additions:

  • Special Anniversary Event Pass featuring cross-Clancy collaboration items inspired by Rainbow Six Siege, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon
  • Global Events inspired by the original game
  • Free, permanent visual upgrade
  • Free in-game Anniversary hoodie for all who log in
  • Free access to the Warlord of New York expansion

This Anniversary Season is just the start however, with The Division 2 set to get even more in the coming months, including:

  • PvP balancing and content updates
  • Expanded crossplay across consoles and PC
  • One new Incursion
  • New Classified Assignments
  • Survivors mode
  • New DLC located in Central Park

Alongside all this, the team also finally gave an official release date for their mobile spin-off Resurgence, with the free-to-play MMO launching on the 31st of March.

The Division series has been in a weird spot for quite some time. Ever since the release of its sequel in 2019, the franchise has struggled to expand, with a number of in-development projects eventually being cancelled. While we continue to wait for The Division 3, it is interesting and exciting to see the previous game receive a second life of sorts.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this Anniversary update? Is it too little too late? Should the game have always had a Realism mode from the get-go? Let us know your thoughts down below.
