Rayman Legends Retold has been officially delayed to December

15 September 2026 at 11:00

For years now we’d been hearing that Ubisoft was trying to bring back the Rayman series, with the last entry – Legends – releasing all the way back in 2013. More than a decade later, Rayman is finally returning with a remake/reimagining of the aforementioned Legends. In an unexpected announcement however, Ubisoft have now confirmed that Rayman Legends Retold has been delayed from its initial October date; now arriving in December instead.

Taking to social media to make the announcement, the official Rayman page confirmed the delay, writing: “Hello Rayman fans, Rayman Legends Retold will release on December 3rd. While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves.”

As mentioned, the game was initially set to launch next month (on the 1st of October), marking a not-so-insignificant delay. That said, it appears as though marketing for Rayman Legends Retold will proceed as normal, with the team confirming that a ‘Game Overview Trailer’ is set to go live on the 22nd of September alongside a suite of hands-on impressions from various creators / press.

Rayman Legends

As with most of 2026, October is set to be a major month for game releases, with some of the most notable including Ace Combat 8; Gears of War E-Day; Star Wars: Galactic Racer; Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen; Final Fantasy Resonance and dozens more.

November is of course set to be dominated by Grand Theft Auto VI and – to a lesser extent – The Legends of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. Given this, it makes sense that if Rayman Legends Retold were to be delayed, then December presents the closest opportunity for a clear runway.

If nothing else, when the game does finally launch on the 3rd of December, it should hopefully be fully polished and ready to enjoy.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

Minecraft Legacy gets rewritten in C++ for PS2 and Wii ports — code is tuned so it works well even on the PS2’s meager 32MB of RAM

15 September 2026 at 10:30

Games optimization specialist OptiProjects (AKA OptiJeugos) has released a new port of Minecraft Legacy for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii consoles. The project is based on the Minecraft Java 1.2.5 source code, rewritten in C++, and using a recreated legacy console interface (machine translation). Even on the quarter-century-old PS2 with its cramped 32MB of RAM, the OptiCraft Heritage Edition runs at 15-30 fps. Check out the video demo embedded below.

Minecraft is one of the best-selling games of all time, with sales above $400 million according to an Entertainment Weekly report earlier this year. Meanwhile, the PS2 is the best-selling home console in history, with 160 million units shifted worldwide. When Minecraft first launched, the PS2 had already been kicking around for close to a decade and was rapidly reaching retirement age. Thus the Minecraft PS2 game release was never a thing (it did launch on PS3 in 2013-14). Similarly, the Wii got overlooked by Minecraft's publishers, with the Wii U only getting the game in late 2014.

Life is Strange studio ‘Don’t Nod’ is restructuring amid financial crisis

8 September 2026 at 16:00

Don’t Nod has struggled to land a major hit throughout the 2020s, and the studio’s financial outlook has continued to worsen. The company now warns that, without significant changes, it could run out of money by 2027.

To address this, management is preparing a wider “transformation” project that would reduce headcount by up to 90 employees and consolidate production into a single‑site operation. The aim is to focus resources on one project at a time rather than spreading the team across multiple developments.

As part of the plan, Don’t Nod says it is “refocusing its operations in France around a single production line, bringing together the expertise required to launch new projects before the completion of current productions.” The board approved the proposal on September 4th, and talks with employee representatives and unions are now underway.

Don’t Nod’s most recent release, Aphelion, has not improved the company’s financial trajectory. A small‑scale licensed project with Netflix has helped keep the studio afloat this year, but further cuts and new funding will be required to stabilise operations. Securing investment for fresh projects may prove difficult in the current AAA landscape though, as major publishers are concentrating on established franchises rather than backing new IP.

KitGuru Says: Don’t Nod has produced some excellent games over the years, but the studio now faces a difficult restructuring period. Hopefully things can turn around over the next few months.

Xbox Game Pass imposes monthly cloud gaming limits, just 15 hours per month for Ultimate — subscribers and non-subscribers can buy more hours to keep gaming

By: Zhiye Liu
5 September 2026 at 11:45

Xbox Game Pass has been an alternative option for gamers who cannot afford the best graphics cards. However, Microsoft has changed the business model for its cloud gaming service. The company has decided to monetize actual gaming time. Beginning in November, Game Pass subscribers will have new monthly limits on their total cloud gaming playtime. Once they reach these limits, players will be prompted to purchase additional gaming hours from the Xbox Store to keep playing.

Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate subscribers will face monthly cloud playtime limits of five, 10, and 15 hours, respectively. The changes affect only Xbox Cloud Gaming, a feature included with Xbox Game Pass that lets subscribers stream and play games directly from Microsoft's servers over the Internet. Subscribers can still download and install as many Xbox Game Pass titles as they want on their consoles or gaming systems, with no monthly limits on playtime.

Needless to say, Microsoft's decision marks a drastic shift for Xbox Cloud Gaming, moving from an unlimited model to a capped-hour system. Under the current packages, Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate users pay $2, $1.50, and $1.53 per hour for Xbox Cloud Gaming, respectively. Despite announcing these changes, Microsoft has yet to disclose details regarding the pricing structure for additional playtime.

A hardcore gamer who subscribes to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate could easily average around 50 hours of cloud gameplay per month. For example, if they pay the highest rate ($1.53) for 35 overage hours, an Xbox Series S 512GB ($499.99) would pay for itself in under 10 months. Alternatively, the user could break even on an Xbox Series X 1TB ($749.99) in about 14 months.

These changes will significantly affect heavy cloud gamers who stream games regularly. Even the highest subscription tier, Game Pass Ultimate, now imposes a 15-hour monthly playtime cap. The limit is not even enough to complete one game per month. For instance, AAA titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can take almost 30 hours to complete, even if you just stick to the main storyline.

Premium

The new policy introduces limits for frequent cloud gamers, but it also opens a new market for Microsoft: casual players who don't own a console or may not want to commit to a subscription but are willing to buy gaming hours to play select titles in the Xbox Game Pass library. Microsoft's decision ultimately transforms Xbox Cloud Gaming into an "à la carte" type of service where gamers buy cloud playtime hours as needed.

Microsoft attributes its recent policy changes to the rising infrastructure costs associated with maintaining the cloud server network. The company estimated only about 4% of its subscribers will be directly impacted by the new playtime limits. Therefore, it is reasonable to think that the other 96% of the user base do not use Xbox Cloud Gaming or stay under the monthly hour thresholds.

Over the past two years, Microsoft has implemented two price increases for Xbox Game Pass, with the most recent hike occurring in October of last year. Interestingly, despite the upward trend in pricing, the company made a surprising move by reducing the cost of Xbox Game Pass earlier this year. By shifting Xbox Cloud Gaming to a metered system, Microsoft may be trying to maintain profitability and subscriber retention.

But nothing about the timing appears coincidental. Grand Theft Auto VI, arguably the most anticipated title of the decade, will launch on November 19. Microsoft’s new Xbox Cloud Gaming policy is set to take effect in the very same month. Microsoft is strategically positioning the subscription service to capitalize on the massive surge of interest. The company likely wants to attract users who do not own a console or gaming system because of the ridiculous pricing but still want to play Grand Theft Auto VI.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Review – Ex The Witcher 3 Developers Successfully Forge an Epic New Dark Fantasy RPG Saga

31 August 2026 at 15:01

Five characters from The Blood of Dawnwalker stand against an orange sunset backdrop, each in dynamic poses, with swords and mystical hand gestures, and the text 'Rebel Wolves'.

Over the last few years, hearing about a brand new studio created by decorated industry veterans behind award-winning titles has become almost a mainstay in gaming news coverage. How many times have we read a press release that began "from AAA veterans with long careers at BioWare, Bungie, Epic, Blizzard, Ubisoft, Bethesda", et cetera, et cetera? So many developers chose to chart their own path after shipping one or more big titles, either due to creative differences with management, a desire to take their career into their own hands, or a combination of the two. The thing is, most of […]

CDPR and Blizzard announce “A Collaboration Three Decades in the Making”

27 August 2026 at 10:30

CD Projekt Red are not one to shy away from collaborating with other studios, with The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 maker having allowed its IPs to crossover into plenty of games – both AAA and indie alike. In an unexpected announcement however, CDPR and Blizzard have now teased “a collaboration three decades in the making.“

Taking to their blog to make the surprise announcement, CDPR shared a lengthy post going into the history of the studio and its relationship with Blizzard.

Of course, the team weren’t merely sharing platitudes, with CDPR confirming that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will be added to Battle.net on the 29th of September.

While an interesting move from both companies, this appears to be just the tip of their collaboration, with the team confirming that “a Geralt-themed skin is coming to Diablo IV” at some point in the future.

Blizzard

It seems the really big announcements are being kept under wraps for now however, with CDPR stating: “we’re hard at work preparing more surprises for fans of CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard, and it won’t be too long before we can reveal them.”

As mentioned, CD Projekt Red have worked with other publishers / IPs in the past. That said, with statements such as “A Collaboration Three Decades in the Making” it’s safe to assume that far more is going on behind the scenes right now.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the announcements made so far? What else do you think they are working on? Let us know down below.

Netflix is shutting down multiple game studios including Oxenfree’s ‘Night School’

14 August 2026 at 09:00

Netflix’s ambitions in the video games space remains somewhat confusing and influx, with the media giant continuously investing into various studios and IPs while at the same time cancelling games and shuttering teams. With regards to the latter, Netflix is now reportedly shutting down the award-winning indie studio Night School – known best for their work on the choice-based adventure title Oxenfree.

As reported by known industry insider Stephen Totilo (via GameFile), Netflix is officially closing two of its previously-owned studios: Night School and Moonloot.

Between the two, Night School is easily the more recognisable name, with the once-indie studio being known best for developing the award-winning Oxenfree. Under the ownership of Netflix, the team were able to produce a couple different titles: Oxenfree II as well as the mobile-exclusive horror ‘Unhinged’ – the latter of which was released just a couple months ago.

Night School Oxenfree

Moonloot Games on the other hand was established in 2022 with the hopes to become “a world-class game studio that delights and engages players like never before.”

Unfortunately, it seems both Night School and Moonloot Games’ journeys are set to end here. It will be interesting to see how Netflix themselves justify this decision once the announcement is made official.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Netflix’s gaming ambitions? Are they helping or hindering the industry right now? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Sony unveils Limited Edition Wolverine-themed PlayStation 5 consoles

12 August 2026 at 11:00

While the practice has fallen somewhat out of favour in recent years, Sony does still occasionally produce limited edition PlayStation 5 consoles in alignment with its major AAA releases. Ahead of the official arrival of Marvel’s Wolverine in September, Sony has unveiled a suite of slick limited edition PS5 consoles and controllers.

Taking to the PlayStation Blog to make the announcement, Sony officially unveiled its Limited Edition Wolverine ‘PS5 Console bundle and accessories’. Launching on the 15th of September and available to pre-order from the 19th of August, Sony is offering 3 versions of the ‘console':

  • Black and Yellow Digital PS5 (£569.99)
  • Black and Yellow PS5 Pro face plates (£64.99)
  • Black and White PS5 Pro face plates (£64.99)
Wolverine PlayStation

Unlike the recently-leaked Zelda-themed Switch 2 console, this Wolverine PS5 keeps things rather minimal, in many ways matching the aesthetics of the game’s box art itself.

Speaking on the mentality behind this design, graphic artist Jock claimed to have “wanted to show Wolverine at his fiercest for Marvel’s Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 Console bundle and accessories,” adding that “I still draw all my artwork traditionally, so the opportunity to marry cutting-edge hardware with the energy and looseness of hand-drawn ink is incredibly exciting. I’m stunned by how well the console and accessories captured the raw energy of the drawing, bringing Wolverine to life in a completely unique way.”

Given just how costly console hardware is nowadays, such limited edition consoles are unfortunately far less feasible – especially for those who already own a standard version of the PS5. At the very least, it is welcome to see that the DualSense controller and face plates will also be available for purchase separately (at £74.99 and £64.99 respectively).

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the design? How does it compare to the other limited edition PS5 consoles? Do you prefer a minimalist or maximalist approach to such systems? Let us know down below.

Remedy Calls Control Resonant a “Must-Have Day-One” Game

By: Aftab Ali
11 August 2026 at 17:47

Remedy isn’t being shy about Control Resonant. In its Half-Year Financial Report for 2026, the studio straight up called the game a “must-have day-one purchase.” That’s a bold thing to say about your own game, but the numbers back it up a bit.

CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon said Resonant is now among the top three pre-ordered games in the US, Germany, and Brazil. He also said hands-on previews during Q2 earned a lot of praise from media and creators, which lines up with what we saw ourselves.

Control Resonant – Story Trailer

Remedy’s Own Words

Gaudechon laid out the thinking behind the release date and pricing:

“Our first priority is to ship an outstanding game, and that guided how we selected the release date. We position Control Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building CONTROL into a lasting franchise.”

He added that the game will launch on all major platforms day one, priced attractively for an AAA title, and that the autumn window has gotten “slightly less crowded” since the reveal.

Control Resonant
Control Resonant

Less crowded or not, September 2026 is still stacked. Resonant will go up against The Blood of Dawnwalker, NBA 2K27, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Marvel’s Wolverine.

Confidence is one thing. Standing out in that lineup is another.

GTA VI Ultimate Edition Gets a Strong Start as Players Pick the $100 Version

By: Bahleem
11 August 2026 at 02:04

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) is already showing strong demand before its launch, and the more expensive version of the game appears to be getting the most attention from early buyers.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in a recent CNBC interview that pre-orders for the $100 Ultimate Edition are currently stronger than those for the standard $80 version. He did not share exact sales numbers, but said pre-orders are “skewing more to the premium edition.”

That may come as a surprise considering the amount of criticism aimed at the $100 price tag online. Many gamers have questioned whether the extra cost is worth it, especially since much of the Ultimate Edition content focuses on cosmetic items and customization features.

Zelnick believes the early numbers could be explained by the type of people ordering the game so far. The biggest GTA fans are more likely to pre-order early, and these players may also be more willing to spend extra for the premium package.

The standard edition is expected to cost $80, making GTA VI one of the major games helping push AAA game prices higher. The Ultimate Edition adds another $20 to that price, which has made it a major topic among players.

Take-Two also appears to be planning to keep GTA VI at its full price for quite some time after release. Zelnick pointed to the company’s long pricing period for GTA V, which stayed at its original price for much longer than many other entertainment products.

While retailers can technically choose to discount games, Zelnick explained that any discount would come from their own margins. Because of this, large price cuts for GTA VI may be less common during the months following launch.

For players waiting for a cheaper deal, this means GTA VI may not receive major discounts soon after release. The strong early demand could give Take-Two even less reason to reduce the price quickly.

For now, the pre-order trend is clear: despite the debate around the $100 price, the Ultimate Edition is attracting a surprising number of early buyers. Whether that strong interest continues after launch will depend on how much value players feel they are getting from the extra content.

August’s Humble Choice line-up includes Like a Dragon, Dead Cells and more

6 August 2026 at 09:15

Each month, all those with a Humble Choice subscription are privy to a selection of games for a relatively low price. Available to claim now, August’s line-up has been officially revealed, including the likes of Dead Cells, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and half a dozen other games.

For the grand total of £11.49, all those subscribed to Humble Choice during the month of August will be granted Steam keys for the following:

  • Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
  • Dead Cells + The Bad Seed DLC
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
  • Decktamer
  • Conquest Dark
  • Gatekeeper
  • Pile Up!
  • Dark Envoy

Humble Choice

Between AAA releases, high profile indies and a couple ‘hidden gems’ August’s line-up should offer a bit of something for everyone. That said, there are some standouts such as Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – the latest mainline entry in RGG Studios’ excellent action RPG series.

Featuring a memorable cast of characters, busy environments to explore alongside a near ‘infinite’ number of wacky side quests and mini-games, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is certainly worth checking out.

Another great addition is Dead Cells. Representing a satisfying blend of 2D side-scrolling combat and metroidvania-esque mechanics wrapped with a rogue-lite bow, this near-decade old title is still one of the best in its genre. Unfortunately, the bundle will only include the base game and its ‘Bad Seed’ DLC, meaning you will need to purchase the other 3 packs separately. Luckily, they are currently on sale via Steam.

Regardless, for 1/6th the price of a standard AAA game, August’s Humble Choice line-up certainly offers plenty of value.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this month’s line-up? Do you prefer the original Yakuza games or the Like a Dragon series? What’s your favourite rogue-lite metroidvania? Let us know down below.

Ambitious gamer turns fanless Subway menu PCs into gaming rigs — passive Intel Core i3 units manage just 15 fps in GTA V and 25 fps in Minecraft

31 July 2026 at 10:20

An intrepid TechTuber has tested a trio of passive mini PCs from the Subway sandwich chain to check if they can be repurposed for gaming fun. In a recent video, Garkus indicates that the three Intel Skylake-powered mini PCs that had been displaying sandwich menus above the serving counters for a decade but were saved from scrap/landfill, alongside a matching set of LG digital signage TVs. Spoiler: they are too puny for mainstream AAA gaming in 2026, even after doubling the RAM installed.

Before getting on with the digital signage-to-gaming conversion, Garkus investigated the hardware in hand. Labeling indicated that the three slim mini PCs were all Advantech DS-081 models (official PDF link). Pondering over that data sheet, we see that the variant with the Intel Core i3 6100U, as these were, carries the full designation of DS-081GB-U21A1E.

The processor is now both long in the tooth and low powered, so immediately we know this 2C/4T @ 2.3 GHz CPU, configured to suck between 7.5W and 15W, won’t be ideal for modern AAA titles. Moreover, the iGPU is the Intel HD Graphics 520 with 24 EUs and clocks up to just 1.00 GHz, sharing the DDR4 system RAM.

A DS-081GB-U2A1E is quite expandable for such a small, low-powered set-it-and-forget-it unit. It has twin HDMI 1.4, twin Ethernet, four USB 3, audio in/out, and an RS-232 serial port accessible from the outside. Inside, users can configure the machine via twin DDR4-2133 SODIMM slots (up to 32GB total), a SATA III HDD/SSD, and an mSATA port that looked like it was an M.2 2242 slot in the video. This passive machine is designed to run signage 24/7 in environments with 0 ~ 40° C (32 ~ 104 ° F) ambient temperatures.

Advantech DS-081 passive mini PC for digital signage

Setup and gaming

These systems were found to actually come with just 4GB of RAM (one slot used) and with a 64GB SATA SSD installed. They booted to Windows and went straight to kiosk mode, displaying the Subway sandwich menu. We saw an extra 4GB DDR4 stick added to bring the test system(s) up to 8GB RAM in total.

After a bit of OS wrangling, Garkus decided to set up the salvaged trio of passive mini PCs as follows. One kept Windows 10, another got Bazzite Linux (because SteamOS balked at the SATA-only storage), then another went Hackintosh with macOS Monterey installed.

Gaming tests began with a very light test. The system ran Peggle, and this 2D puzzler posed no problems. After this modest victory, Garkus ambitiously leapt straight to GTA V. This legendary but now older title could only reach a frame rate of about 15 fps. But it was found to have defaulted to high settings, took ages to get ready to run on Bazzite, then crashed on exit.

Probably not following best benchmarking practice, the tech tinkerer appears to have decided to test Mario Kart Wii emulation performance while GTA V was still compiling shaders… Later, a test run in Minecraft delivered a wildly inconsistent but roughly 25 fps performance. As is now established as the Garkus testing MO, resolution, quality settings, and so on weren’t shared.

To conclude the gaming part of the video, the TechTuber suggests that these ex-kiosk machines are probably best suited to emulating older consoles up to the PS2 and original Xbox era. We think that for PS2 emulation, you will still need to restrict yourself to lighter titles and reduced settings for smooth action.

Tencent reportedly developing an Action-Adventure game inspired by Uncharted

30 July 2026 at 11:00

Whether you love them or hate them, Naughty Dog have achieved their current position in-part due to the studio’s fun and approachable gameplay – while of course including plenty of major story and set-piece moments. We’ve seen some studios in the past take on this formula, but according to reports, Tencent is working on an ambitious AAA title inspired by the likes of Uncharted, The Last of Us and Tomb Raider.

As collated by Reddit user ‘Multiliv’ Tencent has for at least a year been working on a mysterious AAA third-person action-adventure project. Full details on the game’s current timeline can be found HERE, but for our purposes the most interesting part is the game’s description.

Across the various job listings, it appears as though this project (codenamed ‘T’) will be taking heavy inspiration from its contemporaries, with one of the listings directly referencing Uncharted and Tomb Raider. This can be seen with its gameplay details, currently listing features including:

  • Climbing
  • Jumping
  • Taking cover
  • Aiming
  • Dodging
  • Hand-to-hand combat
  • Firearms
  • Terrain traversal
  • Fluid transitions between exploration and combat
  • Dynamic cinematic camera
  • Close-quarters combat
  • Movement during combat
  • Collective AI behaviour
  • Dynamic AI decision-making during combat

Tencent Naughty Dog

The full list of mechanics is lengthy, and includes many staples seen across most video games. That said, putting all of the details shared together does paint the picture of a game which functions similar to the likes of The Last of Us Part II – with its blend of brutal melee and firearms-based combat, advanced enemy AI; a focus on terrain variety and the importance of movement, positioning and taking cover.

Of course, part of what makes Naughty Dog’s games so compelling are their narratives and mechanical polish, and so it will be interesting to see whether Tencent is able to match these elements.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the early details shared so far? Are you a fan of Naughty Dog’s game design? Other than Tomb Raider, has any other game been able to match the likes of Uncharted in its genre? Let us know down below.

Marvel’s Wolverine Previews to go live next month

29 July 2026 at 11:00

Marvel’s Wolverine is one of the most anticipated PlayStation-published PS5 games of 2026, with the upcoming action-adventure title from Insomniac Games set to officially launch on the 15th of September. While we have so far seen relatively little from the game, expect an influx of new information, gameplay and details as Previews for Marvel’s Wolverine have now been confirmed to be going live in a couple weeks’ time.

As is the case with most major AAA games, video game journalists, pundits and other influencers were given the opportunity to check out and play Marvel’s Wolverine ahead of the game’s launch in September.

While these preview sessions have already come to pass, we will have to wait a few more weeks to learn more from the game, with said previews currently under embargo.

Wolverine Previews

Fortunately, we should be getting a whole suite of previews soon enough, with the embargo being lifted on the 13th of August at 8AM PDT (4PM UK Time).

As mentioned, so far we have seen relatively little from Marvel’s Wolverine, with the first proper look at gameplay being during Sony’s last State of Play. Since then, we’ve gotten some behind-the-scenes details as well as plenty of story moments. That said, how the gameplay and level design will flow remains to be seen. Hopefully we will get a full blowout of new information when previews officially go live next month.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to Marvel’s Wolverine? What do you think of the footage released so far? How linear do you want the game to be? Let us know down below.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst quietly delayed to 2028

26 July 2026 at 11:00

Amazon Games has quietly delayed Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the next new game in the series following on from the remake, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The game had previously been announced for a 2027 release, but Amazon has now confirmed that the title will arrive in 2028 instead.

With Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis being a remake of the original Tomb Raider game, many fans had been looking forward to Catalyst, as it will be a genuinely new game, rather than re-treading old ground. Initially, the plan seemed to be to release the remake in February 2027, followed by Catalyst in late 2027, likely around the holiday season. However, in a new interview, Amazon confirmed it was now targeting 2028.

In an interview with The Game Business, Amazon Games boss, Jeffrey Gattis, outlined the company’s current slate of AAA projects, saying: “We have announced the two Tomb Raider titles. [Legacy of] Atlantis comes February 12th next year, and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one.” While not framed as a delay, this marks a quiet shift from the previously announced 2027 release window for Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

While a tad disappointing, it is likely a smart move for Amazon to spread its two biggest AAA games out a bit. Having both drop in the same calendar year could be a bit much, and lead to a longer wait for new content. Over the past year, Amazon has massively scaled back its game development and publishing operations, but Tomb Raider remains as their crowning jewel. While published by Amazon, the new Tomb Raider games will still see release on traditional console platforms and PC, with no plans to follow in Google Stadia's footsteps by making cloud-only titles.

Netflix exclusive POINPY available for free following its removal from the service

23 July 2026 at 11:00

For quite a few years, Netflix had been leaning rather heavily into the video games space, including a variety of titles as part of the entertainment giant’s subscription service. From AAA games to exclusive indies, Netflix was starting to collect quite the line-up. As they have moved away (somewhat) from gaming however, we’ve seen a number of these exclusives be delisted. Fortunately, 2022’s POINPY has now been revived – and is completely free.

Taking to BlueSky to make the exciting announcement, Ojiro Fumoto (known for the games Downwell and UFO50) revealed that the previously Netflix-exclusive mobile release is now back and available for all, writing:

“POINPY IS BACK! And now it's FREE! No ads, no paid unlocks, just the full game. There's a tip option if you feel like it. Available NOW on iOS and Android!”

For the uninitiated, POINPY is a vertical climber similar to the classic mobile game ‘Doodle Jump’. Initially released in 2022 as a Netflix exclusive, the game was praised for its fun and repeatable gameplay, vibrant visuals and an excellent soundtrack from artist BO EN.

As mentioned however, the game was eventually removed from Netflix in June of last year – making it entirely inaccessible. Given this, the fact that POINPY is not only back but 100% free is certainly worthy of celebration. POINPY is available to download now on iOS and Android.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Netflix’s whole gaming push? Have you played POINPY before? What other Netflix exclusives do you hope to see deshackled from the service in the future? Let us know down below.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Switch 2

21 July 2026 at 12:00

It's official, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 will be the first title in the series to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. In a post this week, Activision confirmed its beta plans for the Switch 2 version of the game, confirming parity with other platforms.

While many AAA games have come to the Switch 2 over the past year, more often than not, studios require extra development time on these versions due to the weaker hardware compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. That seemingly won't be the case for Modern Warfare 4.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4 will be available to pre-order starting on August 26th, but you won't have to pre-order the game to try it out before launch, as an open beta will be taking place two days later, on August 28th.

Call of Duty has skipped Nintendo platforms for more than a decade. However, when Microsoft acquired Activision a couple of years ago, it put plans into motion to bring the series back to Nintendo consoles, with content parity with other platforms like PC, PS5 and Xbox.

There are still plenty of details we don't know about the Switch 2 version of the game. We still need to see how well the graphics and performance hold up on a mobile system like the Switch 2. We also don't know what the plan is for Warzone just yet, which offers a much larger battle royale game mode, which is naturally more taxing on hardware.

KitGuru Says: I'm looking forward to seeing the comparisons between the Switch 2 edition and other versions of the game. Unfortunately due to the large file size of most COD titles, it is likely to eat up the vast majority of your Switch 2's 256GB of internal storage.
