A fresh report from gaming market analyst firm Newzoo suggests that GTA 6's opening week of pre-orders has already set a new benchmark for the industry, with the game on pace to book between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion in launch-week revenue alone. According to Newzoo's Game Performance Monitor, Rockstar's long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 generated roughly $180 million in digital pre-order spending across the US and the five largest European markets (UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain) in the final week of June, when pre-orders first opened. Newzoo then used GTA 5's lifetime console player distribution as a reference […]
GTA VI is currently headed toward a November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X, but another console, the Nintendo Switch 2, may also get the game at some point. The first insider to suggest that possibility was Nate the Hate, who shared last November that developer Rockstar Games was evaluating whether it would be feasible to bring the game to Nintendo's latest hybrid console. Now, there's been an update from two insiders. The first is the Spanish Nash Weedle, who wrote the following tweet: A few hours later, another insider, Shpeshal_Nick, replied directly to this […]
We're still months away from GTA 6, but pre-orders for what's been called the most anticipated singular entertainment release in history have gone live, and the game is living up to its given title by already dominating industry conversation. Rockstar and Take-Two's approach to its pricing, its digital-forward launch, and now the split over which console scoops up most of the launch sales for a new third-party AAA single-player title are all being contested. Which, perhaps unsurprisingly, seems to fall in PlayStation's favour. This began with IGN surveying its community through its IGN Finds and commerce affiliate linking program, and […]
Back in January, the Polish website PPE shared a worrying rumor about GTA VI: according to their sources, Rockstar and Take-Two were planning a digital-only launch of the highly anticipated game, primarily to avoid spoilers. This was later denied by both Rockstar and Take-Two, though when pre-orders opened earlier this week, customers learned that the physical copy they would buy at a retailer included only a download code, not an actual disc. This was inevitably a source of disappointment for many, especially those who might have been interested in seeking a second-hand copy at a lower price sometime after release. […]
Back in November 2025, we got the information drop everyone was waiting for: the release date for GTA 6. Yes, it came packaged as a delay announcement, and there was technically no guarantee it would stick, but it ultimately has, as we finally got the other bit of information everyone has been waiting for today: how much Rockstar's long-awaited game would cost. $80 for the Standard Edition and $100 for the Ultimate Edition calmed fears that the barrier to entry for GTA 6 would start at $100, but now those same fears turn towards the rest of the video game […]

Players who purchase the digital version can begin preloading the game on November 12, 2026. This will allow fans to download the game in advance and start playing as soon as it launches on November 19.
Grand Theft Auto VI physical copies
Rockstar also confirmed that physical copies will be available from November 12, 2026. The boxed version will contain a download code, allowing players to preload the game before release day.

GTA VI pre orders will officially begin on June 25, giving fans their first chance to secure a copy of one of the most highly awaited games in recent years.
The GTA VI pre order announcement comes months before the game’s scheduled release on November 19, 2026. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will be able to place their orders and prepare for the next chapter in Rockstar Games’ popular open-world series.
The start of pre orders is exciting news for GTA fans who have been waiting for more details about the upcoming title. While the pre order date has now been revealed, important information such as pricing and available editions has not yet been shared.
At the moment, there is no official word on how much GTA VI will cost. Rockstar Games has also not confirmed whether there will be special editions, collector’s versions, or digital bonuses available at launch.
Even though the pricing remains unknown, many industry watchers expect GTA VI to follow current AAA game pricing trends. Some believe the game could launch with a slightly higher price compared to many recent releases due to its massive scale and long development period.
GTA VI pre order and launch
GTA VI is expected to be one of the biggest gaming launches of 2026. With pre orders opening on June 25 and the release date set for November, fans will likely learn more about editions, bonuses, and pricing in the coming weeks.
For now, players can mark their calendars and get ready to secure their copy when pre orders officially go live.
Following on from the announcement that the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 upgrade for GTA V will now be free, Rockstar has also announced that pre-orders for the next game, Grand Theft Auto 6, are finally opening up.
Starting on June 25th 2026, you will be able to pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The announcement came alongside the reveal of the new box art for the game, which you can see below:
Right now, there is no price tag announced. Some anticipate that Grand Theft Auto 6 will end up being the first AAA game to cost more than $70 at launch. Some estimates go as far as a $100 price tag but we won't know for sure until the store listings go live next week.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release on November 19th this year for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. No version of the game has been announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, but a PC version of the game is expected to arrive a year or so after launch.
KitGuru Says: Are you planning on getting GTA 6 on console when it first comes out, or will you be holding off and waiting for the PC version?
Ahead of what will undoubtedly be the biggest gaming release of the year and potentially of the decade, with GTA 6, developer Rockstar and publisher Take-Two are letting players still engaged with GTA 5 have a nice freebie. If you're someone who is still playing your digital copy of the PS4 or Xbox One version of GTA 5 on your current-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, then starting tomorrow, you're getting a major upgrade, as owners of the digital version of the last-gen version of the game are getting a free update to the current-gen version. Announced in a blog […]
Fable has been delayed into February 2027, it was announced today by Xbox ahead of its Xbox Games Showcase as part of Summer Game Fest 2026 on June 7, 2026. After just getting done with bringing Forza Horizon 6 to market, developer Playground Games is getting a little more time to polish up the reboot of the RPG series, though the delay seems to be as much about avoiding Grand Theft Auto 6 as it is about Playground needing the extra time. A statement from Xbox shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account directly cites the onslaught of major […]
Well before Grand Theft Auto 5 reached its 10-year anniversary, it was clear that Grand Theft Auto 6, whenever it would arrive, would be the biggest video game release, and likely the biggest release for a singular piece of entertainment across all industries, ever. Which is why Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick is more than okay with letting Rockstar take its time, even when admitting that the current release date for GTA 6 puts it about 18 months behind schedule. In an interview with David Senra, Zelnick admits that GTA 6 is "about 18 months behind the original date...not much more […]
Following the discovery of an affiliate Best Buy email suggesting GTA 6 pre-orders will open on Monday, May 18, the millions of fans of Rockstar's blockbuster franchise have already prepared their digital wallets in anticipation. However, according to Tom Henderson, while the affiliate email is legitimate, nothing is actually happening until July or August. During the latest Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, he said: Yeah, we said this for the longest time, right? I think we've all said that we believe we're not going to get anything tangible until July, August, especially August, when their next earnings call is going to […]
Last year, just days before we officially learned that GTA 6 had been delayed to November 2026, developer Rockstar was accused of union-busting with the firing of 34 employees, 31 in the UK, and three in Canada at its Rockstar Toronto studio. Those dismissals spurred an ongoing legal battle between Rockstar and the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB), one that caught the eye of UK parliament and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Now, British MPs leading the investigation into Rockstar's alleged union-busting have come forward to accuse the company of obstructing legal processes through "silence and closed doors." Per Eurogamer, […]
Grand Theft Auto VI will be the biggest video game launch, and perhaps the biggest launch of any single piece of entertainment in history, when it arrives. Whether that's on November 19, 2026, as is the current plan, or on a different date due to an unforeseen delay, that statement is practically set in stone, and that'll happen despite GTA 6 only arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles to start, and not on PC. Why it won't arrive on PC is a topic of much debate, with speculation being that Rockstar and Take-Two would rather let players […]
While 2026 has already seen some major releases like Crimson Desert, Resident Evil Requiem, and Marathon, to name a few, the biggest release of the year, and the biggest release the video game industry has seen for years is yet to come, as we all wait for GTA 6 to arrive later this year at its previously announced November 19, 2026 release date. But at the time of this writing in April 2026, there's still plenty of time for things to go wrong for Take-Two and Rockstar from now until then, and concerns of another delay linger each day. That […]
Rockstar, the studio behind several of the biggest video games of all time who will soon add another game to that list with the release of GTA 6 later this year, confirmed over the weekend that a group of hackers had indeed successfully stolen some measure of data from the company. The hackers are the ShinyHunters group, and they threatened to release the data if Rockstar didn't meet their demands for a ransom. ShinyHunters released a statement after it had obtained the data, which it seemingly did not by hacking directly into Rockstar, but by jumping through a loophole created […]
Grand Theft Auto 6, or GTA 6 for short, is quite simply the most anticipated (and most expensive, in all likelihood) product in the history of entertainment. It follows Grand Theft Auto 5, the second-best-selling game of all time (by verified sales figures) with 225 million units sold, after a 13-year wait that nearly spanned two full console generations. The industry and gaming fanbase are literally waiting with bated breath to see what developer Rockstar Games has created after such a long development time and such an incredible amount of resources invested in the project. Rockstar North alone spent nearly […]
Rockstar and Grand Theft Auto parent company Take-Two Interactive has reportedly had another round of layoffs, but instead of what you might expect from today's industry, where people are laid off because the studio believes a Generative AI (GenAI) tool can take over, it's the people who are supposed to be leading the GenAI charge getting laid off. Spotted by Kotaku (via PC Gamer), the now-former head of AI for Take-Two, Luke Dicken, shared on his personal LinkedIn page, "It's truly disappointing that I have to share with you that my time with T2 - and that of my team […]
Generative AI (GenAI) and the new wave of AI tools that have begun to filter through the video game industry continue to be a controversial topic of conversation in games. The most recent spike in controversy comes from the reveal of NVIDIA's DLSS 5, which was an incredibly impressive reveal for some, but the cause of major backlash that already has some developers part of that initial reveal doing damage control. While there are a lot of players concerned as to how much GenAI tools will continue to influence how video games look and are developed, Take-Two Interactive chief executive […]
