Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced hits 3 million sales in first week

20 July 2026 at 08:20

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has surpassed 3 million copies sold during its first week of release. This follows a strong launch day that brought in 2 million sales for the remake, which arrived on July 9th.

According to the publisher, player reception has steadily improved following a series of post-launch updates. Steam user reviews now sit at a Very Positive rating, driven by ongoing quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes informed by player feedback. Ubisoft also confirmed that a highly requested New Game+ mode is currently in development for the title.

Rebuilt from the ground up by Ubisoft Singapore, the title is a complete remake of the 2013 original, using the latest version of the Anvil engine. Visuals have been completely overhauled alongside core gameplay systems. The update introduces parry-focused combat, upgraded stealth and parkour mechanics, expanded naval gameplay, and brand-new story content. Players step into the shoes of pirate captain Edward Kenway during the Golden Age of Piracy, navigating the historical conflict between the Assassins and Templars alongside real figures like Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack.

The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam, where it is officially Steam Deck Verified. It is also accessible through the Ubisoft+ subscription service.

KitGuru Says: Overhauling a beloved classic like Black Flag seems to have paid off for Ubisoft, and the upcoming addition of a New Game+ mode should keep that player momentum going.

Ubisoft Copies The Crimson Desert’s Playbook, As Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Ditches Roadmap For Community Feedback

16 July 2026 at 10:16

Two video game characters, one in armor with a red cape standing in a forest and the other with a beard and wearing a leather jacket, holding ornate pistols.

Although its release was marred by the layoffs at Ubisoft Barcelona, the team responsible for the game's underwater stages and water tech, among other things, there's no denying that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is already a smashing success, selling over 2 million copies on the first day of availability. As such, it's not surprising to learn that Ubisoft has some post launch plans for the game, but what is surprising is that they will follow the example set by Crimson Desert, ditching a set roadmap for community feedback. "We're working on New Game Plus right now. It's one of […]

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced does a lot of things right, enhancing the visuals of the fourth entry in the series to new heights while introducing choice combat and parkour changes for a more engaging experience, and new content allowing players to delve deeper into Edward Kenway's story, which remains as engaging as it has always been. For some, myself included, one of the highlights of the experience is underwater exploration, which I feel is one of the best ever seen in video games to date. However, having created what's one of the best features of the game wasn't enough […]

24 May 2026 at 14:00

Edward Kenway in 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced' stands on a pirate ship with a sword and pistol, surrounded by crew members and a distant ship on the ocean.

There's little doubt that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is among the dearest franchise entries to fans, which makes it easy to understand why Ubisoft would pick it as the first proper remake (others will probably follow, starting with the first installment): Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. While naval gameplay had been introduced by Assassin's Creed III one year prior, Black Flag took it to the next level and empowered players to freely roam the Caribbean, therefore embodying any pirate's true mandate: freedom. Now, Edward Kenway returns in a refreshed game that features several changes both over and under the […]

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Game Director Promises 6 Extra Hours of Content and Deeper Pirate Exploration

21 May 2026 at 18:00

Edward Kenway from Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced stands on a pirate ship, holding two pistols against a backdrop of the ocean and islands.

At the recent Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced hands-on event organized by Ubisoft in San Francisco, California, Wccftech had the opportunity to interview Richard Knight, the Game Director of this highly anticipated remake. Knight, whose Ubisoft Singapore credits include Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Mirage, and Skull and Bones, said the goal was to focus the remake on Edward Kenway’s story and adventure. That meant modern technical upgrades, a more seamless open world, and a handful of new gameplay additions, while trimming elements such as multiplayer and the original game's modern-day stuff. The result, he said, is meant to feel like a […]

23 April 2026 at 16:15

Edward Kenway in 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced' stands on a pirate ship with a sword and pistol, surrounded by crew members and a distant ship on the ocean.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced can comfortably be described as the worst-kept secret in gaming history, with its long story of rumors and leaks of all kinds. The official reveal is here at last, though, and it's juicy. The presentation opened with Matt Ryan (who was among the "leakers" last year), the voice actor of protagonist Edward Kenway, confirming that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake, not a reinvention. It is entirely rebuilt from the ground up using the latest version of Ubisoft's Anvil engine while preserving the original story and character arc. Notably, the original game will remain available after the […]

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced continues to be one leaky ship. After the game's existence was revealed long before its official announcement (something that Ubisoft itself acknowledged), new footage of the highly anticipated remake leaked online, showing how the game's visuals will be on par with those of the best-looking entry in the series to date: last year's Assassin's Creed Shadows. The leaked footage, shared on X by KAMI, is most likely lifted from the game's official trailer which will officially make its debut in a few days, on April 23. While it does not feature any gameplay, the footage […]
