Control Resonant Has “The Biggest Gameplay Team in Remedy History,” New Gameplay Showcased in Dev Deep-Dive

2 April 2026 at 15:57

Control Resonant is the long-awaited sequel to 2019's Control, yet another Remedy game praised for its execution on practically every front, but unable to find the commercial success its biggest fans believe it deserves. That said, the game is still one of Remedy's most successful titles ever, and the studio seems primed to ensure that it's sequel will be able to achieve that level of instant commercial success it has always chased by trying to match the quality of the team's storytelling chops with the core gameplay experience. In the studio's latest development diary for Control Resonant, we get a […]

FBC: Firebreak gets final major update less than a year after release

18 March 2026 at 12:00

FBC: Firebreak was the latest project from Remedy Entertainment – the team behind beloved titles including but not limited to Alan Wake, Max Payne and Control. Set in the same universe as Control, this co-op live-service FPS failed to resonate with many, despite launching day-one onto multiple subscription services. With the ship seemingly not turning around any time soon, Remedy have now confirmed that the game’s latest major update will be its last.

Taking to their Steam page to make the announcement, the team at Remedy Entertainment unveiled the ‘Open House’ update for FBC: Firebreak. Available right now, this latest content drop is rather meaty, and includes:

  • New Friend’s Pass (up to 2 friends can play for free with you)
  • 5 new ‘Endless Shift’ arenas “inspired by locations from the original Control”
  • Gameplay enhancements
    • ‘Harmful condition’ improvements
    • Healing improvements
  • Streamlined / overhauled perk system
  • Weapon balance improvements
  • Quality-of-life features
    • Increased crawl speed
    • Faster revives

FBC Update

While a pretty significant update, it is unfortunately its last, with Remedy confirming that “Open House will be the last Major update for FBC: Firebreak. We won't be adding new playable content after this update.”

Fortunately, unlike most other live-service titles, servers are not being taken down anytime soon, with the team affirming the fact that “FBC: Firebreak will stay online and continue to be playable for years to come. We have done engineering work to ensure we can sustain the upkeep of the relay servers when the player volume is lower.”

Pretty much since its release in June of last year, Remedy have admitted that FBC: Firebreak had failed to capture a large audience. So, while it is unfortunate (yet unsurprising) to see support for the game ceasing, it is encouraging at least to see the title ending on a somewhat high note. Hopefully the game manages to find a dedicated playerbase who can enjoy FBC “for years to come.”

Sony launches upgraded PSSR for 12 games, with more to come

17 March 2026 at 17:30

While console's super-resolution technologies still aren't on par with its PC counterparts, Sony is narrowing the gap with the launch of PSSR 2 (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution). Now available to all PS5 Pro owners, this second-generation looks quite the advancement, promising users less shimmering and ghosting and improved visual quality.

While Nvidia is currently iterating on DLSS 4.5 and 5 and AMD is teasing the AI-driven FSR Diamond, Sony's internal solution is now being deployed across twelve titles. This initial wave includes games such as Silent Hill 2 Remake, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

The full list of games can be found below:

  • Silent Hill 2 Remake
  • Silent Hill f
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • Dragon's Dogma 2
  • Crimson Desert
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Nioh 3
  • Control
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (upcoming)
  • Assassin's Creed Shadows (upcoming)

Digital Foundry has already provided the first deep-dive analysis of the technology, with Oliver Mackenzie noting that the leap from the first iteration to PSSR 2 is substantial, describing it as a “big improvement” that significantly improves the value proposition of the PS5 Pro hardware. While he was careful to mention that PSSR 2 still lacks some of the advanced features found in top-tier PC upscalers, the consensus is that for a living-room experience, the “ghosting” and “shimmering” issues that occasionally plagued early PSSR 1 titles have been drastically reduced.

KitGuru says: PSSR 2 alone might not be enough to justify getting a PS5 Pro, but it sure looks like something worth adding to the list of advantages.

The U.S. Could Soon Turn NVIDIA and AMD’s AI Chips Into a Foreign Policy Tool, With Not a Single Country Being Left Out

5 March 2026 at 21:17

Unbranded chip held on stage with spiral backdrop.

The Trump administration is exploring options to address AI chip exports, and initial reports suggest the proposed regulations are far more aggressive than the industry anticipated. The US Is Planning New AI Chip Export Regulations, By Looking at Compute Power Being Shipped Out The debate around AI chip exports has emerged several times since chip manufacturers like NVIDIA and AMD achieved significant compute breakthroughs. This matter was also under intense focus by the Biden administration, which introduced the "AI Diffusion" act that addresses AI chip exports by categorizing countries into different levels, each with its own caveats. The Diffusion Act […]

Alan Wake Remastered gets surprise update with tons of new additions and improvements

27 February 2026 at 11:00

In recent years we’ve seen Remedy Entertainment going back to some of its previous releases in order to improve them technologically. Most notably, the team patched 2019’s Control last year adding proper HDR support; new ultra ray tracing presets; 10bit colour and much more. Now, Alan Wake Remastered is seeing a similar treatment – bringing tons of welcome additions.

Releasing the patch notes via their blog, the team at Remedy Entertainment detailed Alan Wake Remastered’s surprise update. Available now on PC, patch 1.33 brings both expected and welcome improvements, including but not limited to:

  • Camera improvements
  • Vegetation animation improvements
  • Weapon swap refinements
  • Full HDR support
  • New ‘Modern’ camera mode
  • Maximum FPS increased to 240 (was 200 previously)
  • DLSS improvements
  • 10bit colour support
  • More accurate FOV scaling
  • More dynamic ultrawide support
  • Other miscellaneous refinements

HDR

Of course, the most immediately notable enhancement will be the addition of 10bit colour and full HDR support, making the game’s distinct colour palette more pleasing in both light and dark areas. Of course, for those with an ultrawide monitor, this update is also pretty vital.

As was the case with Control, hopefully many of these improvements will make their way over to the console version of Alan Wake Remastered sooner rather than later. Regardless, it is always exciting to see a game receive pretty transformative updates so many years later. The full patch notes can be found HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this surprise update? Will you be replaying Alan Wake Remastered? Which of the above additions do you think is the biggest deal? Let us know down below.
