Wolfjaw CEO on Live Service Craze: “Publishers Saw Fortnite, PUBG & LoL and Decided They Needed 50 of Each”

14 April 2026 at 19:00

The image features promotional artwork for 'PUBG Battlegrounds,' 'Fortnite,' and 'League of Legends' with distinct characters and logos, named in an interview by Wolfjaw CEO Mitchell Patterson.

Today's exclusive interview is a bit different from the usual because it is focused on a company called Wolfjaw Studios that is probably unknown to most gamers but still powers many of the most played online games, including the likes of NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Destiny 2, Marathon, Among Us, and Magic: The Gathering Arena. Founded in 2019 by Mitchell Patterson (following a conversation at TwitchCon 2018), Wolfjaw was built from scratch around a single, focused ambition: to establish backend development as a distinct, mission-critical discipline within game development, rather than an afterthought bolted on after the "real" work was […]

PRAGMATA Review – A Fun Old-School Action Romp

13 April 2026 at 15:00

An astronaut and a child stand on the moon with Earth in the background, accompanied by the text 'PRAGMATA'.

On the eve of the current generation of consoles, CAPCOM announced a brand-new sci-fi intellectual property called PRAGMATA. It was the Japanese studio's first new global franchise since 2012's Dragon's Dogma, and a return to sci-fi for a studio historically more focused on other settings, such as zombie horror and fantasy. Following the initial trailer from PlayStation 5's The Future of Gaming event, though, PRAGMATA largely disappeared from radars. Its original launch window was 2022, but it wasn't until June 2023 that we got another trailer, and then there were two more years of silence. Finally, in June 2025, CAPCOM […]

Crop Is a Farming Sim Where You Bury the Previous Owner — And That’s Just the Beginning

9 April 2026 at 16:45

A character from the game CROP in a hazmat suit holding a shovel and flashlight stands next to a house with overgrown vegetation, under the large text 'CROP'.

Today, as part of the Triple-i Showcase, publisher 11 bit Studios (Frostpunk, This War of Mine) and developer Carbonara Games have announced Crop, a gritty farming thriller game. The title is targeting a PC (Steam) release first, with console versions to follow, timing still to be determined. Wccftech checked out a press-only presentation ahead of the reveal, and there might be something interesting here. A single-player experience with a main campaign estimated at around 15 hours, Crop opens with your character half-naked, disoriented, and stumbling out of a truck on a dark, eerie forest road in the pouring rain. Cyberpunk TCG is officially the “Most Funded Game in Crowdfunding History”

6 April 2026 at 11:00

Over the years, CD Projekt have had a relatively close relationship with Kickstarter, having successfully released various Witcher and Cyberpunk-related projects through the crowdfunding platform. Even so, their latest efforts have proven to be record-breaking, with the recently-launched Cyberpunk TCG becoming the “Most Funded Game in Crowdfunding History.”

With a total of £12.7 million pledged (and counting) across nearly 25 thousand backers, The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is officially the most-funded game in Kickstarter history (and the biggest tabletop game in crowdfunding history).

Being created by WeirdCo (and licensed by CDPR), the ever-growing project is managing to hit multiple fronts, said to be “designed for trading card players, avid collectors, and fans of the Cyberpunk franchise alike.”

Cyberpunk TCG Crowdfunding

As with many of CDPR’s previous Kickstarter projects, the Cyberpunk TCG appears to be well thought out and of a high quality. Of course, we will have to wait and see how the game actually performs when it is shipped out (estimated to be December 2026), but regardless, the Cyberpunk TCG is already a certified success financially.

Full details on the project, its various tiers and rewards can be found HERE.

PRAGMATA – Everything We Know About CAPCOM’s New Sci-Fi Action Game

2 April 2026 at 19:00

An astronaut and a child stand on the moon with Earth in the background, accompanied by the text 'PRAGMATA'.

Welcome to our hub page for PRAGMATA, CAPCOM's first single player sci-fi action game since the days of Lost Planet 3 (2013). The Japanese publisher has found incredible success with the Monster Hunter and Resident Evil franchises lately, but it cannot simply be content with turning into a sequel or remake machine. The creation of new intellectual properties is vital to keep creativity going, and CAPCOM stumbled a little in this regard with 2023's multiplayer game Exoprimal and 2024's action/strategy game Kunitsu-gami: Path of the Goddess, neither of which received acclaim or decent sales. PRAGMATA, however, is structurally and thematically […]

Avatar Legends confirmed for July release

30 March 2026 at 15:00

The competitive fighting game scene is bracing for a packed summer. In addition to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, developer Gameplay Group International has locked in a July 2nd release date for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. The 2D brawler, which brings the elemental combat of the Avatar universe to life, will carry an entry price of £24.99.

Visually, the title aims for high-fidelity authenticity, boasting over 900 hand-drawn animation frames per fighter to replicate the iconic aesthetic of the Nickelodeon animated series. The base roster features 12 playable characters spanning both The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, including fan favourites like Aang, Korra, Zuko, and Azula, as well as newly revealed additions such as Fire Lord Ozai and Zaheer. To ensure the game thrives in a competitive environment, the developers have confirmed the use of proprietary rollback netcode and full crossplay support across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and both Nintendo Switch generations.

For players looking for more than just online matches, the game includes a single-player “original canon” story mode and an expansive gallery featuring never-before-seen concept art from the franchise's history. While the standard edition is budget-friendly, a deluxe edition is also available for £41.99. This premium tier includes the Year 1 Pass, granting access to five post-launch DLC characters, alongside a digital art book, soundtrack, and unique HUD skins.

Those who pull the trigger on a pre-order will receive several incentives, most notably a Samurai skin for Appa (who appears as a support character) and exclusive character colours. Perhaps most interestingly, pre-order customers will also gain voting rights to help select one of the upcoming Year 1 Pass DLC fighters, giving the community the power to shape the roster's future.

KitGuru says: Are you a fan of fighting games and Avatar? If so, the new Avatar Legends game sure looks like the perfect blend of the two.

Forza Horizon 6 key art

Forza Horizon 6 brings back the Horizon Festival to racing game fans nearly five years after the previous installment. It's by far the longest time between releases in the open world racing franchise, but it was not borne out of any sort of issues; on the contrary, Playground Games has focused until recently on continuous updates for Forza Horizon 5, which received unanimous acclaim and incredible commercial success, even on PlayStation 5 when it launched on Sony's console. Initially conceived as a more relaxed, fun-focused spin-off of Turn 10's racing simulation series, Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon grew with each game […]

Star Wars Zero Company is set during Clone Wars with XCOM-style tactics

27 March 2026 at 10:00

Last year, Respawn surprised us with the announcement of Star Wars Zero Company, a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, created by former XCOM developers. Now with the game's release date getting closer, we've received a much deeper look at the game.

In an exclusive feature on PCGamer, we learn that Zero Company is set during the Clone Wars, with our group of fighters going up against the Separatist movement, with a grittier tone inspired by the likes of Star Wars Rogue One and Andor.

Like in XCOM, the enemies on the map will slowly gain buffs over time if you don't take them out quickly enough, making levels more challenging the longer you go. Bit Reactor developers are also taking inspiration from XCOM with a Permadeath mode, so you could potentially see story threads end early if one of your ally falls in battle too soon. This in turn will also boost replayability as players look to perfect their runs and make it through to the end with their entire crew in one piece.

Social systems are in place too, so your characters can bond to unlock additional buffs in combat and unlock additional story moments.

Star Wars Zero Company does not yet have a release date but it will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles later this year. We should get more information at this year's Star Wars Celebration event, taking place from May 21st to May 24th.

KitGuru Says: I'm a huge XCOM and Fire Emblem fan, so getting to play a Clone Wars era Star Wars game in a similar style is highly appealing to me. Are you looking forward to Zero Company?

Deadhaus Sonata Q&A: Denis Dyack on Tarot Cards, Loot Based on Quantum Physics, and Building a Spiritual Successor to Legacy of Kain

24 March 2026 at 20:00

A dark and gothic architectural scene with glowing red lights and silhouettes in the foreground showcases the title 'Deadhause Sonata', created by Denis Dyack.

It's been more than seven years since Denis Dyack, the creator of classic action/adventure games Eternal Darkness and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, originally announced Deadhaus Sonata. First described as "Bloodborne meets Diablo", it was supposed to include Genvid's interactive streaming technology in a persistent world where, according to my previous interview with Dyack from May 2020, players might have been able to change the government through elections or simply act as a store manager or dungeon master. For a long while, though, the game largely disappeared from the news, only to reappear recently with a playable demo on Steam […]

Korean AI Startup Upstage Is in Talks to Buy 10,000 AMD MI355X Accelerators

23 March 2026 at 15:37

South Korean AI startup Upstage is in discussions with AMD to purchase 10,000 MI355X accelerators, according to Bloomberg, and the story is worth paying attention to for reasons that go beyond the headline number.

Upstage CEO Sung Kim confirmed the talks after meeting AMD CEO Lisa Su in Seoul last week. The quote he gave Bloomberg is the most interesting part of the whole thing: “We have a lot of Nvidia chips in Korea, but we want to diversify to other chips, including AMD’s.” That is not a complaint about Nvidia. It is a deliberate infrastructure strategy, and it is one that more organisations are starting to think seriously about as GPU supply constraints and vendor concentration risk become real operational concerns.

AMD is already an investor in Upstage, having participated in its Series B funding round. So this is not a cold commercial negotiation. It is a deepening of an existing relationship, with Upstage looking to put AMD silicon to work on its Solar language model and on Korea’s national AI foundation model programme. That programme, which the press has taken to calling the “AI Squid Game” after the Netflix series, pits four teams against each other in a government-backed competition evaluated every six months by the Ministry of Science and ICT. Two finalists will be selected by early next year, with the winners receiving additional allocations of Nvidia GPUs. Upstage is currently preparing a model with around 200 billion parameters for the upcoming summer evaluation round.

The MI355X is AMD’s latest Instinct accelerator, built on CDNA 4 architecture with 288 GB of HBM3E memory per card and 8 TB/s of memory bandwidth. Those are serious specifications, and the memory capacity, in particular, is the one that matters most for large-model inference. Running a 200B parameter model requires memory headroom that most accelerators simply cannot provide without aggressive quantisation or multi-node splitting. The MI355X’s memory capacity addresses that directly, and it is part of why AMD has been picking up large-scale enterprise AI commitments from organisations looking for alternatives to Nvidia’s HGX lineup.

The scale of this potential deal, 10,000 cards, would represent a meaningful deployment by any standard. At 288 GB per card, that is 2.88 petabytes of HBM3E accelerator memory if the full order goes through. That level of compute density requires serious infrastructure planning, and it signals that Upstage is not treating this as a trial run. Kim also confirmed that the company is targeting international expansion into markets such as Vietnam and the UAE with sovereign AI systems, which means this compute build-out is not just for domestic competition.

From AMD’s perspective, this is exactly the kind of deal the company needs to keep building momentum in a market that Nvidia still dominates by a considerable margin. AMD’s ROCm software stack has historically been the sticking point for organisations considering a switch, but the gap has narrowed enough that enterprises and startups alike are increasingly willing to run mixed deployments rather than treating Nvidia as the only viable option. The process technology underpinning the MI355X also matters here: TSMC’s capacity constraints at advanced nodes affect every major chip customer, and AMD’s ability to deliver at scale is a real consideration for any organisation planning a large procurement.

It is also worth noting the broader context AMD is operating in. The company has been under market pressure recently, with its stock declining in premarket trading on Monday despite the Upstage news, largely due to macro concerns around Middle East tensions and their effect on supply chains. But the underlying demand signal from deals like this one is clear: there is a growing pool of organisations that want high-performance AI compute, have specific memory and throughput requirements, and are actively looking beyond Nvidia to meet them. AMD’s efficiency advantage over competing x86 architectures is part of what makes its Instinct lineup credible for power-conscious deployments at scale.

The discussions are ongoing rather than finalised, and procurement at this scale involves logistics, software support commitments, and pricing negotiations that take time to close. But the direction of travel is clear. Korea is building serious AI infrastructure, Upstage is positioning itself as a competitive player in that environment, and AMD is the chip partner they are turning to for the next phase of that build-out.

The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game continues impressive Kickstarter run

23 March 2026 at 16:30

Over the years, CD Projekt Red has dabbled in tabletop gaming from time to time. Following the success of a licensed Witcher board game, CD Projekt Red surprised fans this month with the announcement of an official Cyberpunk Trading Card game. Initially seeking $100,000 in crowd funding, the game has surpassed expectations, raising over $12 million so far.

CD Projekt Red partnered with Seattle-based tabletop studio WeirdCo to launch the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, a physical TCG that brings characters and factions from Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners into a physical tabletop game. Since debuting on Kickstarter on March 17th, the campaign has gone on to raise over $12 million with over 16,000 backers.

At this time, the official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is the fastest-funded TCG in Kickstarter history. The game is promising a debut set following this campaign, titled ‘Welcome to Night City', featuring iconic characters from CD Projekt Red's game, including V, Johnny Silverhand, Judy Álvarez, Jackie Welles, and more. A second set is also already in the works, themed after the popular Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.

It is unclear where the Cyberpunk TCG will go from there, but all of the stretch goals have been hit so far and the company is preparing a whole range of accessories to go along with the card game, including deck boxes, starter decks, booster boxes, playmats, premium 20-sided dice, card sleeves and more.

The first Cyberpunk TCG products are expected to begin shipping in Q3 2026, putting the release anywhere between July and the end of September.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: As a big fan of card games and Cyberpunk, this Kickstarter campaign has been of particular interest to me. While it is causing a big splash right now though, the real test will be whether or not we see people playing the game at local game stores, like we do with Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! and other popular TCGs.

Vampire Survivors studio, Poncle, has been hard at work on a new game alongside various DLCs for its breakout hit. The new game, Vampire Crawlers, is a direct spin-off that incorporates deck building elements for a new addictive gameplay loop. Following a demo release earlier this year, Poncle has now announced the release date for the game.

Vampire Crawlers will officially launch on PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch on the 21st of April. Like the original Vampire Survivors, it will be a cheap game even at launch, hitting the market with a $9.99 price tag. You can watch the full announcement trailer below:

Vampire Crawlers is described as a ‘turboturn deckbuilder', offering bite-sized chunks of gameplay for quick sessions. Players won't have to pause for animations to complete before triggering their next move, and the game intelligently stacks and executes your ability inputs, so you can speedrun through rounds and watch the chaos play out.

The game will also offer customisable cards, so you can create new cards with a variety of effects and multipliers as part of your own unique strategy.

KitGuru Says: I was a big fan of Vampire Survivors and ended up sinking an unspeakable number of hours into it. Hopefully Vampire Crawlers can capture that same magic with a new but equally fun gameplay loop.

Microsoft aims to close the PC-console optimisation gap with new DirectX features

13 March 2026 at 14:59

For decades, there has been a discrepency between the level of optimisation game developers are able to achieve on a console versus the PC hardware equivalent. As Microsoft continues its PC gaming push, it is hoping to close that gap with major updates to DirectX.

DirectX is Microsoft’s long‑running suite of APIs that handle core multimedia tasks on Windows, including graphics, audio, input, and advanced GPU features. It’s the foundation for most PC game development, providing a consistent feature set across GPUs from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. Because Windows remains the dominant platform for PC gaming, DirectX is used in the vast majority of modern titles, from large AAA engines to smaller indie projects, and it underpins major technologies like ray tracing, variable rate shading, and upscaling frameworks.

With DirectX 12 almost a decade ago, Microsoft made some big strides, providing developers with lower level access to PC hardware to improve performance. However, we have still not quite reached an equilibrium between resource access on PC versus a specialised console like the Xbox or PS5. That gap should shrink even further with the next major update to DirextX though.

At GDC this week, Microsoft announced that it has partnered up with AMD, Intel, Nvidia and Qualcomm for its next major DirectX update, which it says will be “the biggest wave of new tooling features” in the API's history. The new features almost exclusively focus on improving game optimisation and debugging.

The headline addition is DirectX Dump Files, a unified crash‑dump format that captures hardware state, driver and OS context, D3D objects, and up to 2MB of developer‑selected data. These dumps work across retail and development environments, with three overhead tiers and zero‑overhead capture enabled by default on Tier 2 hardware. Combined with full PIX support and new D3D12 controls for DebugBreak() in Shader Model 6.10, developers can now generate highly actionable GPU crash diagnostics that point to root causes rather than downstream failures.

PIX itself is receiving a major overhaul. Shader Explorer introduces low‑level, cross‑vendor shader analysis built on the compiler infrastructure from Advanced Shader Delivery, enabling iterative optimisation across any GPU. A long‑term effort to bring live, on‑chip shader debugging from Xbox to Windows is underway, with early components already surfacing. Additional improvements include a new GPU capture file format, hardware counter integration in System Monitor, a dedicated Tile Mappings viewer, and broad API access to PIX features via C++, C#, and Python. Hardware partners are contributing plugins to expose device‑specific insights throughout the PIX UI, ensuring consistent tooling across architectures.

Microsoft will begin rolling out its new DirectX features starting in May 2026, except for the new Shader Explorer, which arrives later in the year. The news comes at an interesting time as Microsoft also just announced Project Helix, the codename for its next-generation Xbox console, which for the very first time will also double as a PC, capable of running Windows games.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: With the PC hardware market hitting another wave of shortages, many are going to find themselves unable to upgrade over the next couple of years. With that in mind, there will need to be a renewed effort amongst game developers to optimise titles as much as possible. Microsoft seems to be getting the ball rolling here with a fresh new wave of DirectX features to improve debugging and optimisation.
