Why PC Game System Requirements Are Often Misleading

4 June 2026 at 22:04

A graphic titled 'Why PC Game System Requirements Are Often Misleading' shows a screen comparing 'Minimum' and 'Recommended' specs, highlighting discrepancies like 'Unequivalent GPUs?' and 'Incorrect VRAM amounts?', alongside visuals emphasizing issues like 'Fake CPUs' and 'Upscaling Tricks'.

PC system requirements should be simple. You look at the minimum, recommended, and potentially higher-tier specs, compare them to your rig, and get a solid idea of what to expect. Easy enough, right? Well, not anymore, sadly. Over the last decade or so, PC game system requirements (or PC specs) have become incredibly messy, inconsistent, and sometimes borderline useless. We are dealing with vague targets, aggressive temporal upscaling hidden behind an inconspicuous β€œ1080p” or β€œ4K” label, and "60 FPS" targets that incredibly rely on frame generation, which is absolutely not the same thing as actually rendering 60 full game frames […]

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight PC Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide – How To Get Best Experience On PC

2 June 2026 at 22:01

A LEGO Batman stands in front of a neon cityscape with the text 'PC Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide' on the left side.

With PC games becoming increasingly complex nowadays β€” especially open-world games built on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 β€” default/maxed-out graphics settings rarely, if ever, strike the optimal balance between visual fidelity and performance that most PC gamers seek, and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is no exception to this rule. TT Games’ latest LEGO Batman adventure is certainly a much more visually ambitious game than the studio’s older LEGO titles, with its open-world Gotham City, dense streets, detailed LEGO characters and assets, physically convincing plastic materials, attractive effects, and state-of-the-art UE5-powered visuals. However, this added visual ambition […]

Directive 8020 PC Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide – How To Get Best Experience On PC

29 May 2026 at 00:00

A science fiction character in an armored suit appears in the promotional image for 'Directive 8020' with the text 'Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide' on the right.

With PC games growing increasingly complex nowadays β€” especially those built on Epic Games' infamous Unreal Engine 5 β€” default/maxed-out graphics settings rarely, if ever, strike the optimal balance between visual fidelity and performance that most PC gamers seek, and Directive 8020 is sadly no exception to this rule. As a demanding UE5-powered cinematic horror game, it should come as no surprise that the game's maxed-out High graphics preset, even without ray tracing or path tracing enabled, can be quite GPU-heavy. However, what is a bit more disappointing is that Directive 8020 ends up being heavier on the GPU than […]

Forza Horizon 6 PC Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide – How To Get Best Experience On PC

24 May 2026 at 09:05

A red sports car drifts around a curve in front of Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms, next to 'Forza Horizon 6' and 'Performance Analysis & Tuning Guide' text.

With PC games becoming increasingly complex nowadays β€” especially large-scale open-world games with dense environments, high-speed traversal, and ray/path tracing β€” default/maxed-out graphics settings rarely, if ever, strike the optimal balance between visual fidelity and performance that most PC gamers seek, and Forza Horizon 6 is no exception to this rule. Thankfully, Playground Games’ latest open-world racing title arrives on PC with an impressively complete graphics menu, support for modern temporal upscaling solutions, uncapped framerates, ultrawide support, ray-traced reflections, ray-traced global illumination, and even live previews for many of its individual graphics settings. However, while Forza Horizon 6 is a […]

Helldivers 2 has been on an interesting trajectory, with the PlayStation-published co-op shooter seeing equal amounts of success and strife from fans depending on the update. On the technological side of things however, Helldivers 2 has been on the upswing – with the title set to receive a suite of upscalers and other optimisations later this month.

Taking to their Steam page to detail the upcoming update, the team at Arrowhead Game Studios announced the β€˜Optimizing Liberty’ update.

Going live on the 27th of May, this patch will introduce a number of welcome improvements both in terms of performance and visuals, including support for:

  • FSR 4.0.3 (PC)
  • DLSS 4.5 (PC)
  • XeSS 3.0 (PC)
  • PSSR (PS5 Pro)
  • FSR 3.1 (Base PS5 and Xbox)

Alongside these upscalers, the update will also add other smaller enhancements, including VRR support on PlayStation; as well as VRS (Variable Rate Shading) and Dynamic Resolution Scaling across all platforms.

Helldivers Update

Thanks to these optimisations, Helldivers 2’s performance mode on both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will now run at higher max resolutions (said to be 1440p).

Last but certainly not least, the update will also incorporate Nvidia’s Reflex and AMD’s Anti-lag 2 technology for minimal input latency.

Ever since Nixxes partnered with Arrowhead to work on Helldivers 2, we’ve seen a ton of welcome improvements – and while this upcoming patch is exciting – the team have promised another β€œdedicated tech-focused update later this summer to push these improvements even further”. It will be interesting to see what else is planned in this regard.
