Marvel’s renewed focus on the video games industry has led to a mixture of results. While the likes of Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man titles proved to be both critical and commercial hits, Marvel’s Avengers on the other hand was somewhat of an infamous failure. Sitting somewhere in the middle is Guardians of the Galaxy. Initially released in 2021, the game is set to get a second chance at life thanks to its upcoming Switch 2 ‘Encore Edition.’

Making the announcement during the most recent Nintendo Direct, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition was officially confirmed to be coming to the Switch 2 later this year on the 5th of November.

For the uninitiated, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a single-player action-adventure title in which you play as Star-Lord, the leader of the Guardians. Throughout the game, players will make plenty of choices both narratively and gameplay-wise, helping to make the group feel like a proper team.

While the game was praised upon its initial release back in 2021 (even winning a bunch of awards), sales for the title proved to be lower than publisher Square Enix was hoping.

Thus, the Encore Edition presents a second chance for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Available exclusively for the Switch 2, this new edition appears to be pretty much the same experience, albeit with “an all-new set of glam rock outfits for the Guardians.”

While it remains a visually pleasing experience (for the most part), certain compromises have been made in order to get it running on Switch 2. According to the devs, the Encore Edition will come with two visual modes: Quality (1440p | 30fps) and Performance (1080p | 40FPS). When playing in handheld, only one option will be available (30FPS at an undisclosed resolution).

Regardless, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was a great game which unfortunately underperformed thanks in part to the previous year’s live-service Avengers – putting a bit of a stink on IP at the time. Half a decade later however, it will be interesting to see how the game performs.

In a somewhat uncommon practice for the console maker, Nintendo announced that it would be hosting two separate Direct Showcases on back-to-back days, with a Zelda-focused stream going live later today followed by a general showcase tomorrow. As with pretty much all Directs, leakers have come out to give insight into what to expect – with claims that Mario Kart World DLC, Luigi’s Mansion 4 and much more could be announced.

As reported by known Nintendo leaker ‘malo932’, the Switch maker has a ton of new entries in well-loved franchises currently in the works. While this should of course be taken with a big pinch of salt (especially as the claims have since been deleted), the insider suggested that Mario Kart World will be getting Star Fox-themed DLC next year, in alignment with a new Adventure-styled original Star Fox game.

Beyond this, Malo932 also hinted at the possibility for a new entry in the iconic Nintendogs series – a franchise not seen since the 3DS. Additionally, a new original Super Smash Bros. title is said to also be in the works.

Another known Nintendo leaker – NecroFelipe – appeared to corroborate Malo’s report while also claiming that Luigi’s Mansion 4 may be announced soon.

Of course, this does not mean that all of the above will be present at the upcoming Nintendo Direct. That said, given the fact that the Switch 2’s upcoming slate of first-party releases is somewhat sparse, it is high time for a major Direct showcase. Hopefully Nintendo does not disappoint.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game was set to have a massive multi-platform launch today. However, at the very last minute, the developers have announced that the Xbox version has been delayed by six weeks, mere hours before the game was set to become downloadable on Xbox consoles. 

In an announcement shared earlier today, the developers said that “the Xbox version of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will now launch on September 3rd. This delay is due to unforeseen backend issues that require additional time to resolve”. The developers have no plans to cancel pre-orders for the game due to the delay.

It is incredibly strange to see a game delayed for one platform, but it is even stranger to see the delay arrive less than one day before launch. If backend issues in the Xbox version went unnoticed until the final moments before release, then one has to wonder whether the rest of the game is in a fit state.

Beyond the Xbox delay, the development team has also revealed that the Nintendo Switch version of the game will be missing features at launch. For starters, English will be the only language option available from day-one, and cross-platform multiplayer won't be supported. However, additional language options and crossplay are expected to be implemented in a future patch.

KitGuru Says: While this delay is disappointing and extremely odd, I think it is still worth noting that Avatar Legends looks like a quality fighting game. If you are a fan of the series, it should be worth picking up, assuming there aren't any other major issues waiting to be discovered upon release. 

Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio has released a new update for the game that finally addresses the issues of censorship on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. But it doesn't mean that the Switch versions of the game are on par with the versions of Dispatch on other platforms. After years of leaks, rumours and speculation, the Nintendo Switch 2 finally released in June of 2025 to strong sales from the get-go; owing to the console maker ensuring that they had plenty of stock ready for launch. With the ‘next-gen’ system nearing its 1 year anniversary on the market, Nintendo has revealed that Switch 2 is closing in on 20 million units sold.

Sharing updated sales stats as part of the company’s latest fiscal earning report, Nintendo officially confirmed that the Switch 2 has sold a total of 19.86 million units. It is worth noting that these numbers only go up to the 31st of March, and so the system has likely passed the 20 million mark by now.

As of right now, the Switch 2’s lifetime sales are nestled in between the Wii U (13.56 million) and the GameCube (21.74 million) – not bad for less than a year's worth of sales.

Perhaps more interestingly, Nintendo also shared updated sales figures for the OG Switch, revealing that it has sold a total of 155.92 million units. While a massive achievement in its totality, the Switch 1 only managed to push roughly half a million consoles during the past quarter.

Assuming this trajectory continues, then it is likely that Sony’s PlayStation 2 will remain the best-selling console of all time at 160 million units.

The original Nintendo Switch had a fantastic first year on the market, primarily driven by major exclusive games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. As it turns out, the Nintendo Switch 2 is on an even more impressive run, with sales up by around 45% compared to the original console during the same time period. 

Games industry analyst, Mat Piscatella, shared the stats in a new post on Bluesky. According to the data shared, the Nintendo Switch 2 is outselling the original console by 45% during its first year on the market. There are a number of factors here that could be impacting the adoption rate.

For starters, the original Nintendo Switch launched on the back of Nintendo's failed Wii U console. This could have had an impact on initial interest in the console, although that quickly went away after the system's first year on the market thanks to the strength of Nintendo's exclusive games.

On top of that, Nintendo has commented that it doubled down on manufacturing for the launch of the Switch 2, providing plentiful stock for consumers at the expense of development kit hardware. This led to the Switch 2 being readily available during its first months on the market, despite initially selling out in the first week. The original Switch console was harder to find in stores during its first year and often sold out quickly.

While the Nintendo Switch 2 is selling extremely well, it was not the highest-selling console for February 2026. That honor still went to the PS5, which is expected to be a hot seller all through 2026 thanks to upcoming titles like Grand Theft Auto 6.

Vampire Survivors studio, Poncle, has been hard at work on a new game alongside various DLCs for its breakout hit. The new game, Vampire Crawlers, is a direct spin-off that incorporates deck building elements for a new addictive gameplay loop. Following a demo release earlier this year, Poncle has now announced the release date for the game. 

Vampire Crawlers will officially launch on PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch on the 21st of April. Like the original Vampire Survivors, it will be a cheap game even at launch, hitting the market with a $9.99 price tag. You can watch the full announcement trailer below:

Vampire Crawlers is described as a ‘turboturn deckbuilder', offering bite-sized chunks of gameplay for quick sessions. Players won't have to pause for animations to complete before triggering their next move, and the game intelligently stacks and executes your ability inputs, so you can speedrun through rounds and watch the chaos play out.

The game will also offer customisable cards, so you can create new cards with a variety of effects and multipliers as part of your own unique strategy.
