Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse Drags Toward 2028 as Backup MOBA Collapses and NetEase Looks for the Exit

1 June 2026 at 19:00

Two characters wield lightsabers in front of a snowy crowd with the 'Star Wars: Eclipse' logo above.

The road to launch for Star Wars: Eclipse is still very much uphill, according to new rumors. Speaking on the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast (Ep. 64), Mike Straw mentioned that the game is still in development hell, and French developer Quantic Dream may soon be sold by NetEase. Mike Straw: I can tell you one game not to expect. Star Wars Eclipse. I wouldn't expect to see that at all. It is in development hell. Yeah, it ain't going well. NetEase, they want to divest from Quantic Dream. I'm not going to be surprised if Quantic Dream was sold by […]

The MSI RTX 5080 Mandalorian and Grogu Edition graphics card hits shelves

22 May 2026 at 12:15

With the latest Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, finally hitting the box office this week, MSI has also rolled out its limited edition RTX 5080 graphics card. There are only 500 of these being made, exclusive to the European market, so if you want one, you'll have to act fast.

The limited edition MSI RTX 5080 Mandalorian and Grogu Edition graphics card ships with more than just a custom backplate. The backplate design shows off Mando himself, holding a smoking blaster. However, you also get four ‘mini backplates' in the box, which clip into the cutout on the back shroud. There is a mini backplate emblem for the Mandolorian, Grogu, the Empire and the Republic. On top of that, you also get a mini GPU support stand, shaped like Grogu himself.

If you want a closer look at what this limited-edition GPU looks like, and its included accessories, you can watch our full unboxing HERE.

The limited edition MSI RTX 5080 Mandalorian and Grogu Edition graphics card is available here in the UK through SCAN, priced at £1369.99.

EA shot down ‘New Republic’ overhaul for Star Wars MMO

18 May 2026 at 15:00

Star Wars: The Old Republic didn't end up becoming the biggest MMO ever, but it has stood the test of time. As it turns out, the former director for the game had plans to completely overhaul it and right some wrongs from early on in development, he even managed to get Disney approval, but EA shot it down.

James Ohlen, the former director for BioWare's Old Republic MMO, recently told PCGamer in an interview that he had pitched a huge overhaul for the game in 2015, one that would set the game well before the fall of the Galactic Republic, in the era that Disney now refers to as the ‘High Republic' era, although this didn't exist at the time. The MMO would have been re-named Star Wars: The New Republic instead.

Ohlen had wanted to re-create the game in a new way, moving away from the WoW clone elements that The Old Republic was ultimately based on. He had managed to get LucasFilm creative head, Dave Filoni, to sign off on the idea and even managed to win over one of EA's most notorious executives, Patrick Sodurland, an achievement that Ohlen is particularly proud of.

Unfortunately, when the pitch reached EA's board of directors, they ultimately passed. They had already spent $300M developing the original MMO and were not keen on going back for another round. This is despite the fact that during this time, EA was hugely motivated by the growing multiplayer games market and the microtransaction money that follows.

While this is a disappointing anecdote to hear for Star Wars fans, there is actually a great deal to be hopeful about in the future. Disney is currently in the process of moving on from the disappointing Star Wars sequel film saga and is more focused on telling stories in the Old Republic and High Republic eras. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had a massive High-Republic subplot, while Quantic Dream is currently working on a massive High Republic era game. Elsewhere, Disney has other studios bringing back The Old Republic, with plans for a KOTOR 1 remake to reintroduce Revan has a central character in Star Wars lore, as well as a new KOTOR spiritual successor from former BioWare lead, Casey Hudson.

MSI unveils limited-edition RTX 5080 The Mandalorian and Grogu Edition

15 May 2026 at 16:00

MSI has announced a limited-edition GeForce RTX 5080 16G The Mandalorian and Grogu Edition OC, inspired by the upcoming film. The card is restricted to a production run of 500 units for the European market and is scheduled for release on May 22nd, coinciding with The Mandalorian and Grogu's theatrical debut.

Built on the Nvidia Blackwell architecture, the card features 16GB of GDDR7 memory and 10,752 CUDA cores. The “Mandalorian Edition” features MSI's Tri Frozr 4 thermal design, with Stormforce fans featuring claw-textured blades and a nickel-plated copper baseplate.

The collector's edition has several aesthetic changes compared to the standard Gaming X Trio, on which it is based. That includes a brushed-metal finish designed to mimic Din Djarin's Beskar armour, as well as a magnetic backplate system. Users can personalise the card using four interchangeable plates featuring the Mandalorian helmet, Grogu, the New Republic signet, and the Imperial Remnants emblem. Additionally, the package includes a custom VGA support bracket shaped like Grogu.

The card is equipped with three DisplayPort 2.1b outputs and one HDMI 2.1b port, supporting resolutions up to 8K at 120Hz. For power, the unit requires a single 16-pin connector and consumes a total of 360W.

If you were asked to name some highlight announcements from The Game Awards 2025, you might call out reveals like Larian's new Divinity game, ACE Combat 8, or Mega Man: Dual Override. But what was arguably the biggest reveal of the night, was Star Wars: Fate of The Old Republic, a new single-player RPG from former BioWare developers and legendary director Casey Hudson. Though we still have a long time to wait before we can play the game ourselves, a new report from Bloomberg revealed a few new details around how the game came to be, and what we can […]

MSI teases limited edition Star Wars RTX 5080

5 May 2026 at 13:30

Yesterday as part of the Star Wars May 4th celebrations, MSI teased a new limited-edition graphics card. This time around, we seem to be getting a custom RTX 5080, featuring new from The Mandalorian and Grogu.

We don't have all the details just yet, like a price or release date, but this teaser MSI shared on Instagram gives a preview of what we can expect from their new Star Wars themed graphics card:

The Mandalorian and Grogu is a follow-up film to The Mandalorian TV show directed by Jon Favreau, and is the first Star Wars movie to hit cinemas in around seven years. The story follows Din and Grogu as they deal with the aftermath of the fall of the Empire.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer officially arrives this October

1 May 2026 at 08:00

One of the biggest surprise announcements from last year’s The Game Awards was the official unveiling of Star Wars: Galactic Racer – a AAA racing title led by ex-Burnout and Need For Speed developers. Previously slated for release sometime in 2026, the teams at Fuse Games and Secret Mode have now officially confirmed that Star Wars: Galactic Racer will launch in October.

Making the announcement via a new trailer, Star Wars: Galactic Racer is officially slated to arrive on the 6th of October 2026. Alongside its release date, the team also shared Galactic Racer’s price and various editions.

Costing £49.99 for the standard edition, a digital deluxe edition is also on offer (setting you back £64.99) and includes:

  • Three exclusive vehicles
  • Unique Livery
  • Three Arcade Events
  • Deluxe Player Banner
  • Digital Art Book

As expected, a small bonus is also on offer for those who pre-order the game ahead of its release, netting you an “exclusive Pre-Order bonus Livery” and Banner.

Everything we’ve seen so far from Star Wars: Galactic Racer looks great, however we will have to wait and see whether the game is able to offer enough in the way of substance to justify its cost. We should find out when the game officially arrives this October.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the game's price? Does it seem fair? How much replayability do you expect from a game like this? Let us know down below.

PowerWash Simulator 2 x Star Wars officially announced

28 April 2026 at 09:45

Like with the first game, PowerWash Simulator 2 has engaged in a number of fun and surprise crossovers. Following the release of the Adventure Time pack earlier this month, the team at FuturLab have now confirmed that the world of Star Wars is coming to PowerWash Simulator 2 later ‘this Summer’.

Making the announcement, the team at FuturLab officially unveiled the latest crossover DLC coming to PowerWash Simulator 2, writing: “Get those (water) blasters ready, we've got a job to do! STAR WARS is coming to PowerWash Simulator 2. We'll be travelling to a galaxy far, far away to take on six iconic jobs from the STAR WARS Universe.”

Arriving some time this Summer (and costing £7.99), this crossover DLC pack is set during the events of the original Star Wars trilogy in which you will “take on the role of P0-W2, a Class Five cleaning droid.“

Alongside the 6 aforementioned maps (taking you to locations such as Tatooine and Hoth), the DLC will also include new equipment for you to mess around with such as the Star Wars-themed ‘water blaster’.

The original PowerWash Simulator managed to accrue a wide variety of crossover packs throughout its lifecycle, ranging from Final Fantasy VII to SpongeBob Square Pants; Shrek; Warhammer; Back to the Future and even Wallace & Gromit.

With its sequel having already received an Adventure Time pack and soon a Star Wars one, the stars seem to be the limit for what IP could find its way into PowerWash Simulator 2.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer release date leaked via Steam Store page

27 April 2026 at 10:15

One of the biggest surprise announcements from last year’s The Game Awards was the official unveiling of Star Wars: Galactic Racer – a AAA racing title led by ex-Burnout and Need For Speed developers. Currently slated for launch some time this year, an accidental update to Galactic Racer’s Steam page seems to have confirmed its release date.

In a surprise update to the game’s Steam Store page (which has since been reverted), Star Wars: Galactic Racer’s publisher Secret Mode revealed that the title will be arriving in roughly 6 months time on the 6th of October.

Alongside its release date, we also got our first look at the game’s Deluxe Edition, set to include:

  • A Steelbook
  • 3 ‘exclusive’ Repulsorcraft
  • 3 ‘deluxe’ liveries
  • 3 ‘unique’ Arcade events
  • Digital art book
  • Pre-order bonus livery and player banner

Star Wars Galactic

Unfortunately we did not get a price for the game, nor are we likely to, given that the page has since been reverted to only including the very basics.

Still, hopefully this means that Secret Mode is gearing up to drop a bunch of new details – including confirmation of its leaked release date and hopefully its launch price.

Star Wars Eclipse is still ‘years away’ from completion

7 April 2026 at 10:08

Star Wars Eclipse was first announced in 2021 but very little new information has come out about the game since. As it turns out, the reason for that is simple – development has been moving very slowly, with the game still projected to be ‘years away'.

It has been almost five years since Star Wars Eclipse was announced. Typically, a modern AAA game can take five to seven years to develop on average, so the game should be pretty far along at this stage. Unfortunately, according to Insider Gaming, that is not the case, with a source claiming that the studio has been making “very little progress over months”.

It is also claimed that at this point, even years on from the game's reveal, it is still “years off from completion”. In the interim, Quantic Dream has also branched out to take on other projects, including its first multiplayer game, Spellcasters Chronicles, which is now available in Early Access form.

Star Wars Eclipse is supposed to be part of Disney's push towards the High Republic era of Star Wars, which we also got a glimpse of in Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Like most single-player Quantic Dream titles, Star Wars Eclipse is supposed to be a choice-driven game, with many different story outcomes spread out over a branching narrative.

KitGuru Says: If you've been looking forward to Star Wars Eclipse, it sounds like you'll be left waiting for quite a while longer. At this point, we may have to start taking bets on whether or not this makes it out before Casey Hudson's newly announced Star Wars Old Republic game.

“Star Wars is About Loss”: Star Wars: Zero Company Studio Reveals How Zero Company is More Than Just ‘Star Wars XCOM’

27 March 2026 at 15:40

A clone trooper firing a blaster rifle in a detailed, industrial environment from the Star Wars: Zero Company video game.

Back in February 2024, EA had a mass layoff that saw 5% of the company cut and the cancellation of an FPS Star Wars game that was in development at Respawn. That meant the only Star Wars games (that we knew of) in development under EA and Respawn were the third Star Wars Jedi game, and a tactics-focused, XCOM-like game from BitReactor, which we eventually learned was called Star Wars: Zero Company. At first glance, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Zero Company is just 'XCOM but make it Star Wars,' especially because BitReactor was founded by a bunch of […]

Star Wars Zero Company is set during Clone Wars with XCOM-style tactics

27 March 2026 at 10:00

Last year, Respawn surprised us with the announcement of Star Wars Zero Company, a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, created by former XCOM developers. Now with the game's release date getting closer, we've received a much deeper look at the game.

In an exclusive feature on PCGamer, we learn that Zero Company is set during the Clone Wars, with our group of fighters going up against the Separatist movement, with a grittier tone inspired by the likes of Star Wars Rogue One and Andor.

Like in XCOM, the enemies on the map will slowly gain buffs over time if you don't take them out quickly enough, making levels more challenging the longer you go. Bit Reactor developers are also taking inspiration from XCOM with a Permadeath mode, so you could potentially see story threads end early if one of your ally falls in battle too soon. This in turn will also boost replayability as players look to perfect their runs and make it through to the end with their entire crew in one piece.

Social systems are in place too, so your characters can bond to unlock additional buffs in combat and unlock additional story moments.

Star Wars Zero Company does not yet have a release date but it will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles later this year. We should get more information at this year's Star Wars Celebration event, taking place from May 21st to May 24th.

KitGuru Says: I'm a huge XCOM and Fire Emblem fan, so getting to play a Clone Wars era Star Wars game in a similar style is highly appealing to me. Are you looking forward to Zero Company?

Saber confirms KOTOR Remake is ‘still in development’

10 March 2026 at 13:00

It has been years since the Knights of the Old Republic Remake was first announced. Unfortunately, we haven't had any official news since, but Saber has reassured fans this week that the game is “still in development.

The KOTOR Remake was first announced for PS5 and PC in 2021. Initially, the game was being developed by Aspyr, the same studio responsible for handling modern KOTOR ports and a number of other Star Wars remasters. Somewhere along the way, the project ended up moving over to Saber Interactive and development started over again.

In a recent interview with IGN, Saber CCO, Tim Willits, said that the remake is “still in development” but they couldn't say much more at this time.

LucasFilm reportedly wants remakes of both of the original KOTOR games and may eventually want to make a third game as it looks to re-introduce the Old Republic timeline to fans. Aside from KOTOR Remake projects, original KOTOR director, Casey Hudson, formed a new studio last year to work on a ‘spiritual successor', titled ‘Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic' – and that game should be out within the next four years.

KitGuru Says: Fans have been waiting a long time for an Old Republic return. We don't know when we'll finally get the KOTOR Remake, but there are multiple projects in the works to look forward to.
