FromSoftware’s Elden Ring Gets Surprise Overhaul 4 Years After Launch, As Mod Ports Over Highly Requested Nightreign Mobility

15 September 2026 at 15:05

A dramatic landscape banner with the text 'Elden Ring: Night Reign Movement' set against a misty, moonlit ruin.

Compared to the first entries in the Dark Souls series (whose slow, deliberate pace has heavily inspired the upcoming Guns of Eschaton), Elden Ring is a much faster game. While it doesn't hit the extremes Bloodborne does, the open-world game developed by FromSoftware accommodates the open-world design of The Lands Between with a more agile character who can also ride the steed Torrent to traverse through the world quickly. This enhanced mobility was the basis for the one seen in Elden Ring: Nightreign, which many have long wished to see in the 2022 game. Well over 4 years since release, […]

FromSoftware and Bluepoint’s Demon’s Souls Remake Emulation Progress Skyrockets In 24 Hours, as KyTyPS5 Emulator Hits 30 FPS Milestone

14 September 2026 at 09:58

A knight in armor stands in an overgrown, ancient stone hallway in the game Demon's Souls Remake

FromSoftware is among the most beloved Japanese game development studios, but I'd wager the development studio headed by the uncompromising Hidetaka Miyazaki will soon become even more loved in the PC gaming community thanks to a rather interesting fact, as its games originally developed by the studio have kick-started proper PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 emulation. Although not in the same state as Bloodborne emulation, the Demon's Souls remake emulation progress has skyrocketed in just 24 hours, finally hitting a major milestone. As reported on Reddit, the Bluepoint Games remake of the action RPG originally created by FromSoftware has gone […]

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 Alongside €4.99 Tarnished Pack DLC

30 August 2026 at 15:10

A promotional image shows Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition with the Nintendo Switch 2 logo, depicting a knight kneeling by a sword amid a mystical landscape.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, marking the acclaimed open-world action RPG’s first appearance on a Nintendo platform. The package includes the original game, its substantial Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and several new pieces of content. The release follows a lengthy journey to Nintendo’s latest system. Tarnished Edition was initially expected in 2025 but was pushed into 2026 after the early Nintendo Switch 2 build exhibited significant performance problems at Gamescom 2025. More recent footage suggested that FromSoftware had made considerable progress ahead of launch. Nintendo Switch 2 players can explore both the Lands […]

Miyazaki Admits FromSoftware Always Just Dropped Players In, but Nintendo Is Refining The Duskbloods’ Onboarding

20 August 2026 at 15:45

A character in The Duskbloods walks towards an ornate gate in a grand cathedral setting.

[UPDATE - August 20, 11:42 AM] The Duskbloods is not going to release on September 24, as Kirk McKeand, the journalist who penned the preview for The Guardian, confirmed on Bluesky that the release date was added by mistake. Original story follows. FromSoftware is among the best Japanese game development studios still active today, but it is undeniable that the uncompromising Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team have long struggled with player onboarding in games like the Dark Souls series and Bloodborne. Although things significantly improved with games like Elden Ring and its spinoff Nightreign, the Japanese studio still likes to […]

The Guardian Leaks The Duskbloods Release Date, Setting FromSoftware’s Switch 2 Exclusive Against Control and Silent Hill

20 August 2026 at 15:30

A character in 'The Duskbloods' walking towards a grand, illuminated cathedral window in a shadowy interior setting.

[UPDATE] It seems like the launch date of The Duskbloods was an error made by The Guardian's editor. [ORIGINAL STORY] The release date of FromSoftware's hotly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, might have been just "leaked" by The Guardian. In their preview of the game, they added at the very end that it will be available from September 24. If confirmed, it would put The Duskbloods right up against big titles like Remedy's Control Resonant and Konami's Silent Hill: Townfall, although, admittedly, neither will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch 2 at that time. Today also brought the […]

FromSoftware Attempted Ray Tracing with Elden Ring, But It Pales in Comparison to Dark Souls 3 with Modded Path Tracing

12 August 2026 at 10:38

A character in knight armor explores a misty, overgrown ruin path in Dark Souls 3

Although FromSoftware has created some of the best action RPGs of all time, never ceding to the pressure to create more marketable titles, the Japanese studio is not exactly known for pushing the technical boundaries of games. In Elden Ring, the studio led by Hidetaka Miyazaki did try its hand at ray tracing with ray-traced ambient occlusion and shadows, but what it has achieved pales in comparison to the modded path tracing that is coming soon to Dark Souls 3. The third entry in the series is getting remastered lighting thanks to modder Ganaboy, who is working on a new […]

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers celebrates 1st anniversary with new player milestone

28 July 2026 at 09:15

Souls-likes have become an increasingly prominent genre within the video games space, with developers from across the world offering their own take on the highly-popular gameplay design format made famous by FromSoftware. While far from the peak of the genre, 2025’s Wuchang: Fallen Feathers did make an impression upon its initial release. Despite the reported shuttering of its dev studio, Wuchang has continued to find new players, with the game having now surpassed 5 million in total.

Taking to the game’s Steam page to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, publisher 505 Games revealed that the souls-like has surpassed a major milestone, writing:

“On this very special day, we're also delighted to confirm that we've surpassed 5 million players. Thank you to every single person who has played, supported, shared, and believed in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. Reaching this incredible milestone has only been possible thanks to this amazing community.”

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Million

It’s worth mentioning that 5 million players does not equate to 5 million copies sold, especially given that the game was added to PlayStation Plus back in May – likely helping to boost overall player numbers.

As mentioned, the studio behind Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – Leenzee – reportedly shut down just a couple months ago following backlash from fans due to claims of ‘censorship’ made after the game’s initial release. While nothing has been confirmed, the blog post celebrating Wuchang’s anniversary shied away from making any reference to studio ‘Leenzee’ (with the only mention of the team being as part of some legalese at the bottom of some celebratory art work.)

Regardless, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is worth checking out by fans of the souls-like genre.

KitGuru says: Are you one of the 5 million players? What did you think of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers? What’s the best non-FromSoft souls-like in your opinion? Let us know down below.

FromSoftware announces plans for The Duskbloods network test

16 July 2026 at 16:30

FromSoftware has announced the official network test dates for its upcoming Switch 2 exclusive title, The Duskbloods. The closed playtest will run from August 21st to August 24th.

Applications for the playtest open on July 22nd directly through the game's official website. If you're looking to participate, you'll need a Nintendo Switch 2 console alongside an active Nintendo Switch Online membership to apply. FromSoftware is using the event to verify core gameplay systems while putting a heavy load on the game servers.

The developer also wants to evaluate how the multiplayer components hold up with global participants online, as well as test general game balance. Each match will support up to eight players. These network tests typically arrive a few months before a full release, following a similar timeline to last year's Elden Ring: Nightreign playtest.

KitGuru says: FromSoftware's upcoming network test will give us our first real look at how The Duskbloods plays and performs on Nintendo's hardware. Will you be signing up for the playtest or waiting it out for its full release before trying the game?

FromSoftware Finally Lifts The Veil Off The Duskbloods On August 21, As Network Test Registrations Open Soon

15 July 2026 at 15:09

A massive creature holds a person aloft amidst a fiery forest setting in the game The Duskbloods

Although FromSoftware is known for keeping a very tight lid on its projects, the silence surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is getting deafening. After resurfacing during last month's Nintendo Direct, we have learned that a closed network test is scheduled for this Summer, and today we have finally learned when the Japanese development studio, will lift the veil from the game it reportedly spent the most time on to date. "We will be hosting a network test for The Duskbloods on Nintendo Switch 2 from Aug. 21 (Fri.) - Aug. 24 (Mon.). Participant registration will begin on […]

FromSoftware’s Parent Company Kadokawa Keeps Its CEO After Investors Tried to Replace Him, Claiming “Material Profit Leakage” for not Capitalizing on Elden Ring’s Success

25 June 2026 at 17:15

Elden Ring Nightreign

FromSoftware's parent company Kadokawa Corporation just nearly missed going through a major transition period. Kadokawa's chief executive officer, Takeshi Natsuno, has been able to keep his job as CEO, after some of the company's investors tried to have him replaced due to their claims that Natsuno has failed to properly capitalize on the success of Elden Ring. This comes from a report from Reuters (via GamesIndustry.Biz), which also adds that while Natsuno is staying in the CEO chair for now, he's there with a much weaker support system than what he had just a year ago. Back in 2025, Natsuno […]

FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods Resurfaces After a Year, Landing A Summer 2026 Closed Beta With New Trailer Reframing the Project

9 June 2026 at 14:45

Two characters with swords confront a large, grotesque creature on a stone staircase in the game The Duskbloods

FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods has been missing in action since its announcement during last year's Nintendo Switch 2 event. Although publisher Kadokawa has reiterated multiple times that the game will not miss its 2026 release window, many feared it would. Although we do not know when the next game from the celebrated developer of Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series is hitting the Nintendo Switch 2, the first taste of the experience is coming before the end of the year. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Finally Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 in August 2026, New Content is Paid DLC on Other Platforms

4 June 2026 at 14:46

A Nintendo Switch shows 'Elden Ring Tarnished Edition' on its screen with the game's logo and art, featuring a character in a misty landscape.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will finally arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer on August 28, 2026, developer FromSoftware confirmed today. The release date reveal is welcome news for Switch 2 players who've been waiting for Elden Ring's arrival since the Switch 2 was revealed and the open-world epic was one of the biggest third-party titles set to arrive on the handheld platform. Though the plan was to initially bring Elden Ring to Switch 2 at some point in 2025, concerns for what that version would look and run like were apparent from the earliest Switch 2 previews […]

Kadokawa Reaffirms Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods Launching in 2026, While we Wait for an Official Release Date

14 May 2026 at 14:34

On the left, a character walks through a grand cathedral-like setting, while on the right is the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition cover art showing a knight kneeling with a sword before a glowing rune in a dark landscape.

Days after a Canadian retailer seemingly spilled the beans on Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition's release date on the Nintendo Switch 2, developer FromSoftware's parent company, Kadokawa, published its earnings results for its 2025 fiscal year that ended this past March 31. Though Kadokawa didn't spill the beans on an official release date, it did reaffirm that both the Tarnished Edition, and The Duskbloods are due to arrive at some point this year. Though both games have been slated to arrive at some point in 2026 for some time, it's encouraging to see Kadokawa reiterate that release window once again. Particularly […]

Elden Ring is A24’s most expensive film to date

21 April 2026 at 11:00

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is easily one of the biggest new IPs to have risen this decade, with the 2022 open-world action-RPG selling in excess of 30 million copies – jumping all the way up to 45 million when accounting for its Erd Tree DLC and Nightreign spin-off. As such, it came as a relatively small surprise when it was announced that a film adaptation was in the works at A24. Following recent reports regarding the film’s status, we’ve now gotten a ton of official details, including its expected release date.

As reported by the publication Deadline, A24’s Elden Ring film (directed by Alex Garland) is set to premiere just under two years from now – arriving on the 3rd of March 2028. Said to be shot in IMAX, the project represents the most expensive film from A24, with TheHollywoodReporter claiming a budget of over $100 million.

Additionally, we also got our first full details regarding Elden Ring’s cast, with over a dozen actors having been selected, namely: Tom Burke; Havana Rose Liu; Sonoya Mizuno; Jonathan Pryce; Ruby Cruz; John Hodgkinson; Jefferson Hall; Emma Laird; Peter Serafinowicz; Kit Connor; Ben Whishaw; Cailee Spaeny and Nick Offerman. Unfortunately, we do not know who each of these will be portraying.

Elden Ring Film

Alex Garland, for context, has directed a number of well-known projects including 2014’s Ex Machina; 2018’s Annihilation and most recently 2025’s Warfare. As a writer, Garland is known for the 28 Days Later franchise, while also having worked in the video games space; contributing to 2013’s DMC: Devil May Cry.

The narrative of Elden Ring (as with all FromSoftware games) is secondary to its lore, world and overall vibes. As such, it will be interesting to see how Garland and co. choose to adapt this game into a live-action medium. Hopefully we will start to see some set photos being released sooner rather than later.

Ex Machina, Civil War, Warfare, and 28 Years Later writer Alex Garland is leading the charge on an upcoming Elden Ring movie being made by A24 with Bandai Namco collaborating - this much we've known since May 2025. Now, the latest update from Garland and company is that the film has a release date set for March 3, 2028, and the full cast has been selected, though it's unclear what roles everyone will be playing. In a press release Bandai Namco confirmed that the film is in production (though that much was already obvious after footage of the set leaked […]

A24’s Elden Ring movie adaptation reportedly begins filming this week

7 April 2026 at 15:00

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is easily one of the biggest new IPs to have risen this decade, with the 2022 open-world action-RPG selling in excess of 30 million copies – jumping all the way up to 45 million when accounting for its Erd Tree DLC and Nightreign spin-off. In an effort to expand the IP further, it was officially announced last year that a film adaptation is in the works in partnership with A24. Though details remain light, filming for the much-anticipated project is reportedly set to begin this week.

As reported by the publication WorldofReel, A24’s Elden Ring film is gearing up to begin production, with reports claiming that sets are currently being built ahead of official filming some time this week.

The project was first announced last year alongside confirmation that the film will be written and directed by Alex Garland (with Peter Rice; Andrew Macdonald; Allon Reich and George R. R. Martin serving as producers).

Since then, we’ve gotten some ancillary details, including the fact that the film will star Kit Connor; Ben Whishaw; Cailee Spaeny – though their roles were not specified. Additionally, Garland confirmed that the script spans 160 pages and includes an extra 40 pages of visuals.

Lies of P has officially sold over 4 million copies

20 March 2026 at 11:00

Lies of P represents one of the best non-FromSoftware games to tackle the Souls-like genre. Released back in late 2023, the game has continued to see success, garnering millions of copies sold. In the wake of the game’s ‘Overture Expansion’ released last year, the team at Neowiz have confirmed that Lies of P has officially sold over 4 million copies.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the team at Neowiz officially confirmed that “4 million have walked the streets of Krat and chosen to defy fate. To every Citizen of Krat, we owe you everything. Thank you.”

While perhaps not the fastest selling title in the world, Lies of P has managed to reach new milestones on a consistent cadence. For context, the game managed to sell 1 million copies within its first week on the market. This was then pushed to 3 million by June of 2025 – right after the launch of the aforementioned Overture DLC.

Lies of P Million

It is worth noting that Lies of P has reached audiences beyond the aforementioned 4 million, with Neowiz confirming all the way back in March of 2024 that over 7 million people had played the game – owing in part to its day-one Game Pass launch.

Since then, Lies of P was added to PlayStation Plus, and so the total number of players is likely far higher by now.

Regardless, Lies of P is a major success for Neowiz, and with the game already set to receive a sequel it will be interesting to see how the series will continue to grow with time.

Insider claims FromSoftware is the reason we haven’t gotten a Bloodborne remake

2 March 2026 at 10:15

2015’s bloodborne is a beloved title, with the FromSoftware-developed PS4 exclusive being many fans’ favourite game from the studio. Despite this, we’ve seen nothing from the IP since its launch, with the game remaining locked to an uneven 30fps at just 1080p. Unfortunately, despite fan pleas, it seems things aren’t going to change, with insiders revealing that the ill-fated BluePoint Studios pitched Sony a Bloodborne remake before their closure – a pitch which was approved by Sony but rejected by FromSoft.

As reported by known industry insider Jason Schreier (paywalled), following the cancellation of BluePoint Games’ live-service God of War title, the studio pitched Sony a number of other potential projects. One of these was said to have been a remake of Bloodborne.

This would have made sense not only due to the fact that BluePoint Games were known best for their remakes, but also because their most recent remake was literally for Demon’s Souls – the first Soulsborne title developed by FromSoftware.

Bloodborne FromSoftware

In a surprise reveal, Schreier claimed that “In early 2025, when Bluepoint again pitched the idea of Bloodborne remake, the studio was told that the numbers made sense but FromSoftware didn't want it to happen, according to people familiar with the process.”

While Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, the 2015 title was the result of a close collaboration between PlayStation and FromSoft. Additionally, Bloodborne as a game is near to Miyazaki’s heart, with the FromSoft head previously stating that the title is “the strongest reflection of my type of flavouring of a game that one can experience.”

Regardless, while a remake wouldn’t have been necessary, it makes little sense that Bloodborne has yet to receive a remaster consisting of a higher frame rate and increased resolution – especially as it would maintain all of Miyazaki’s work. For now, it seems the only way to experience an enhanced Bloodborne will be through emulation on PC.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this latest report? Are you surprised that it was FromSoftware who rejected the pitch? Let us know down below.

Bluepoint Reportedly Pitched a Bloodborne Remake Last Year, but FromSoftware Shut it Down

27 February 2026 at 21:14

A scene from the game Bloodborne showing two hunters battling a massive beast in a gothic cityscape.

PlayStation fans and the rest of the video game industry are still reeling from the fact that Bluepoint Games, a long-running and beloved studio, was shut down by Sony just last week. It's another closure that is difficult to wrap your head around, but a new report from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has just shined a bit more light on how things broke down, and also revealed that Bluepoint had indeed pitched the game that everyone wanted them to make: a Bloodborne Remake. Only for it to get shut down by FromSoftware. You're likely wondering how that even works, because while […]
