Elden Ring is A24’s most expensive film to date

21 April 2026 at 11:00

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is easily one of the biggest new IPs to have risen this decade, with the 2022 open-world action-RPG selling in excess of 30 million copies – jumping all the way up to 45 million when accounting for its Erd Tree DLC and Nightreign spin-off. As such, it came as a relatively small surprise when it was announced that a film adaptation was in the works at A24. Following recent reports regarding the film’s status, we’ve now gotten a ton of official details, including its expected release date.

As reported by the publication Deadline, A24’s Elden Ring film (directed by Alex Garland) is set to premiere just under two years from now – arriving on the 3rd of March 2028. Said to be shot in IMAX, the project represents the most expensive film from A24, with TheHollywoodReporter claiming a budget of over $100 million.

Additionally, we also got our first full details regarding Elden Ring’s cast, with over a dozen actors having been selected, namely: Tom Burke; Havana Rose Liu; Sonoya Mizuno; Jonathan Pryce; Ruby Cruz; John Hodgkinson; Jefferson Hall; Emma Laird; Peter Serafinowicz; Kit Connor; Ben Whishaw; Cailee Spaeny and Nick Offerman. Unfortunately, we do not know who each of these will be portraying.

Elden Ring Film

Alex Garland, for context, has directed a number of well-known projects including 2014’s Ex Machina; 2018’s Annihilation and most recently 2025’s Warfare. As a writer, Garland is known for the 28 Days Later franchise, while also having worked in the video games space; contributing to 2013’s DMC: Devil May Cry.

The narrative of Elden Ring (as with all FromSoftware games) is secondary to its lore, world and overall vibes. As such, it will be interesting to see how Garland and co. choose to adapt this game into a live-action medium. Hopefully we will start to see some set photos being released sooner rather than later.

Lies of P has officially sold over 4 million copies

20 March 2026 at 11:00

Lies of P represents one of the best non-FromSoftware games to tackle the Souls-like genre. Released back in late 2023, the game has continued to see success, garnering millions of copies sold. In the wake of the game’s β€˜Overture Expansion’ released last year, the team at Neowiz have confirmed that Lies of P has officially sold over 4 million copies.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the team at Neowiz officially confirmed that β€œ4 million have walked the streets of Krat and chosen to defy fate. To every Citizen of Krat, we owe you everything. Thank you.”

While perhaps not the fastest selling title in the world, Lies of P has managed to reach new milestones on a consistent cadence. For context, the game managed to sell 1 million copies within its first week on the market. This was then pushed to 3 million by June of 2025 – right after the launch of the aforementioned Overture DLC.

Lies of P Million

It is worth noting that Lies of P has reached audiences beyond the aforementioned 4 million, with Neowiz confirming all the way back in March of 2024 that over 7 million people had played the game – owing in part to its day-one Game Pass launch.

Since then, Lies of P was added to PlayStation Plus, and so the total number of players is likely far higher by now.

Regardless, Lies of P is a major success for Neowiz, and with the game already set to receive a sequel it will be interesting to see how the series will continue to grow with time.
