Haven Studio’s Fairgames is Reportedly Experimenting With a Pivot to Being an Extraction Shooter

16 April 2026 at 18:48

A scene from the game 'Payday 3' shows characters in monkey masks and hazmat suits amidst purple smoke.

All the way back in 2021, a former Ubisoft producer, Jade Raymond, and PlayStation Studios came together to form Haven Studios, a new team that was set to make a new multiplayer-focused game for PlayStation, which was revealed to be a new heist shooter, Fairgames, two years later in 2023. As we've continued to wait for any sign of Fairgames' release, Raymond left the studio, it was rumored to be cancelled at one point, and now, a new report claims it has pivoted to be a new kind of game in what is seemingly the hottest genre around: extraction shooters. Peter Parker’s face model seems to be teasing Marvel’s Spider-Man 3

15 April 2026 at 11:30

Insomniac Games in particular has had a bit of a history when it comes to their projects leaking early. Be it through data breaches or voice actor slip-ups the studio’s in-development titles have seemingly been known for quite some time. That said, in what is perhaps the first semi-official confirmation, the face model for Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man has teased their next project.

Posting a story to their Instagram page, the face model for Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man games ‘Ben Jordan’ shared an image of themselves at a performance capture studio alongside the caption “IYKYK” (if you know you know).

Having worked exclusively on the Spider-Man games in this particular industry, many fans are speculating that work is officially starting on the unannounced Spider-Man 3.

Peter Insomniac

As mentioned, Insomniac Games have suffered from data breaches in the past which indicated that the studio would be working on a 3rd mainline entry in the successful Spider-Man series.

That said, with a number of these leaked projects (such as Spider-Man The Great Web and the Venom spin-off) seemingly being cancelled, the status of Spider-Man 3 was not guaranteed. Fortunately, it appears as though these fears can be put to rest.

Of course, Insomniac’s next project is slated to be Marvel’s Wolverine, with the much-anticipated title set to release later this year. As such, it is likely that the next Spider-Man is still quite a ways away – even though Insomniac are a surprisingly efficient studio.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this teaser? Could it be anything else other than Spider-Man 3? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Rumoured God of War spin-off gets new leaked details

15 April 2026 at 10:15

For years now, fans have been wondering what Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog has been working on, with previous leaks and rumours suggesting that it would be a new IP in a Sci-Fi setting. Recent reports from industry insiders however have since shed some light on the matter, claiming the mystery project to be a God of War spin-off with Kratos’ wife Faye as the lead. Following this, we’ve now gotten additional details, including suggestions that the game will tackle multiple mythologies.

Following leaks back in March which claimed that Sony Santa Monica’s next project is a God of War spin-off focused on Kratos’ late wife Faye which would “differ from the Norse God of War games with more of a focus on action,” we’ve now gotten some additional details pertaining to this rumoured 2027 title.

According to a new report from the publication mp1st, this upcoming spin-off will deviate from the past two title’s Norse-based mythologies, ‘confirming’ that “elements from Chinese and Japanese mythologies will be part of a new entry in the series.”

God of war Kratos

Of course, while the OG God of War games tackled Greek Mythology and the recent duology took Kratos to Midgard (and the Norse realms as a whole), Sony Santa Monica have teased the existence of other mythologies in-game and so such a shift would not be surprising.

Regardless, we should hopefully learn about this mysterious project sooner rather than later, with insider Tom Henderson recently claiming that an official announcement could be arriving as soon as this month. We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to this potential spin-off? How different would you like it to be compared to the Norse era games? Let us know down below.

Insider claims Naughty Dog is working on new Uncharted and TLOU games

15 April 2026 at 08:00

Since the launch of the PS5 generation, Naughty Dog has been in an interesting spot. With their previous live-service The Last of Us plans being ultimately cancelled, the studio has so far yet to release an original game this console generation. That said, it appears as though the team are hard at work right now on multiple different projects, with insiders claiming that alongside the previously-announced Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog is also working on new entries in both the Uncharted and Last of Us franchises.

A little over a year ago, known industry insider DanielRPK claimed that alongside development on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog were also working on a second mysterious project.

Since then, the studio itself confirmed as much, though very few additional details were shared. Now, in the wake of a recent post by Naughty Dog creative Director Shaun Escayg which seemed to show off research for what could be a new Uncharted title, DanielRPK has returned with new revelations.

Corroborating claims made by the insider ‘Alir’ it appears as though alongside the aforementioned mystery second project, a 3rd title is also in the works.

Naughty Dog Uncharted

Though this should of course be taken with a pinch of salt, according to Alir the next title from Naughty Dog following Intergalactic will be a new Uncharted game. Then, at some point in the presumably distant future, this will be followed up by The Last of us Part III.

While TLOU Part II did offer a somewhat satisfying conclusion to the story of Joel and Ellie, there is certainly plenty of juice left in the tank to continue the narrative if Naughty Dog chooses to.

As mentioned however, Naughty Dog’s release schedule for this generation has been pretty barren, and so even assuming these leaks to be true, Intergalactic could still very well be the only new game we see from the team during this current console generation.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this leaked release schedule? Would you welcome a 3rd Last of Us eventually, or do you want to see Naughty Dog move away from the franchise? Let us know down below.

Starfield’s PS5 Launch is Mid: The RPG has Sold an Estimated 140K Copies, Landing in the Middle Compared to Recent Xbox-Published PS5 Games

14 April 2026 at 19:28

A spacecraft is landing on an alien terrain under a night sky with the title 'Starfield' prominently displayed above.

Starfield finally made its (somewhat inevitable) arrival on PS5 last week, alongside the launch of its Free Lanes update and the Terran Armada DLC expansion, and in its first week on PlayStation, according to a new report from Alinea Analytics, the game has managed to sell 140K copies. Not a bad start when you look at it on the surface, but Alinea's report seemingly proves that Starfield is mid. Or at least its PS5 launch sales are, compared to other Xbox Game Studios-published games that have arrived on PS5 within the last six months. Compared to The Outer Worlds 2, […]

Marathon reportedly had a budget of over $200 million

10 April 2026 at 10:00

Following plenty of controversies, Bungie’s Marathon finally launched just over a month ago to solid reviews and a decent playercount. Whether or not the live-service extraction shooter is a success or not remains to be seen, with insiders claiming that the title cost over $200 million to develop – possibly $250 million.

As reported by Bungie insider Paul Tassi via the publication Forbes, a ton of details pertaining to Marathon’s first month on the market have been shared.

Alongside ‘confirmation’ that the live-service extraction shooter managed to sell roughly 1.2 million copies in its first two weeks, Tassi revealed just how much money Sony/Bungie have put into the project so far, stating: “I can confirm Marathon’s budget is over $200 million. Likely more than $250 million.”

Marathon $200 million

While perhaps an unsurprising figure given the inflated costs of developing AAA games in today’s day and age, Tassi also claimed that these costs do not account for ongoing post-launch support, meaning it’ll only increase with time.

In doing some very basic maths, Marathon’s 1.2 million sales represents a revenue of just under $50 million. Of course while the game costs $40 to purchase, a Deluxe Edition is also on offer for $60. Combine this with ancillary sales of various in-game cosmetics and the real figure could be much higher.

Still, it appears as though Marathon has quite the journey to go on if it wants to make its money back and turn a profit. It will be interesting to see whether we get official sales data at some point in the future.

A “More Third-Party Focused” PlayStation State of Play Could Take Place Next Week – Rumor

8 April 2026 at 20:19

The PlayStation logo and the text 'State of Play' appear on a blue background with scattered PlayStation symbols.

After the February State of Play kicked off this year's round of showcases for PlayStation, it seems like we might be about to get our second State of Play event for the year as early as next week. That's at least according to insider NateTheHate, who has previously accurately reported when events like this will take place, including the most recent event in February. Initially, NateTheHate made a small comment about a PlayStation event happening "well before" June 2026, which would place it around Summer Game Fest 2026 time. Once users started to latch onto the idea that we'd have […]

Sony announces new ‘Playerbase’ program

8 April 2026 at 08:00

Over the years, we’ve seen various franchises paying homage to its fans through the implementation of certain figures’ likenesses into the games, whether it be the inclusion of Miis in Mario Kart titles or ‘Skyrim Grandma’ Shirley Curry in the upcoming Elder Scrolls VI. Sony appears to be taking this concept to the next level, officially announcing their Playerbase program – “bringing PlayStation’s biggest fans into blockbuster PlayStation Studios games.”

Making the surprise announcement on the PlayStation Blog, the VP of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment ‘Isabelle Tomatis’ wrote:

“Today, we’re excited to offer an opportunity to bring some of our devoted PlayStation fans even closer to the PlayStation experience. We’re introducing ‘The Playerbase’, a unique opportunity for PlayStation’s biggest fans to step into some of the biggest game worlds by having their likeness scanned and appear within a PlayStation game.”

Playerbase Sony

Available in ‘select markets’ across America; Europe; Asia; South Africa and Australia, the program will be kicking off in partnership with Gran Turismo 7 followed by “additional PlayStation Studios titles in the near future.”

Full details on the application process can be found HERE, including PlayStation account requirements, the interview process and more.

While likely to be little more than a marketing gimmick, The Playerbase is an interesting concept, and one which could lead to a greater sense of community. It will be curious to see how the program evolves over time.

“It’s Never Been a Better Time to Explore the Galaxy”: Starfield Arrives on PS5, Terran Armada DLC Now Live

7 April 2026 at 20:03

Posters for 'Starfield: Free Lanes' featuring a spaceship traveling through space and 'Starfield: Terran Armada' showing a robot holding a weapon in front of spaceships.

The game that Phil Spencer (correctly) identified would not be the thing to make them trade-in their PS5s for an Xbox Series X, and the one that former Bethesda executive Pete Hines had to apologize to players over its perceived Xbox exclusivity, Starfield, has finally, and inevitably, made its way to PlayStation consoles with its arrival on PS5 today. The space-faring epic arrived today alongside a couple of major updates for the game, including its Terran Armada DLC expansion, and the Free Lanes update, the latter of which is available to all Starfield owners as a free update, while the […]

One of Marathon’s Strongest Weapons Gets a Much-Needed Nerf to Allow for “More Meaningful Buildcrafting”

7 April 2026 at 17:36

A first-person perspective in a neon-lit futuristic setting from the game Marathon shows a character with gloved hands holding a dagger, facing an enemy wielding a laser weapon.

Marathon may still be struggling to bring new players into the fold, but for the 380K average DAUs who can't seem to stop playing Bungie's new extraction shooter each day, part of what is keeping those players engaged is how quickly Bungie is reacting to player feedback, and it's rapid response time is on display once again with the game's latest patch. Marathon's update 1.0.5.3 is now live for players on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and it brings with it a few bug fixes, but the most notable parts of it are the balance tweaks, and the fairly […]

PlayStation removes most PC mentions from its website

6 April 2026 at 13:00

Sony appears to be performing a U-turn on its PC strategy. While Microsoft is moving toward a platform-agnostic future, Sony is reportedly doubling down on the PlayStation console ecosystem. This shift is no longer merely a rumour. It's now reflected on the official PlayStation Studios website, where the company has begun scrubbing mentions of PC from studio descriptions in favour of emphasising exclusivity.

The most visible evidence of this strategy change is in the updated profiles of key support studios. As noted by @Zuby_Tech (via GameObserver), Valkyrie Entertainment, which was once explicitly noted for its work across console and PC, has had PC removed from its description. Similarly, XDev's description has changed to mention “exclusive titles for PlayStation players worldwide”, moving away from its previous, more platform-agnostic language. Nixxes Software remains the only studio still mentioning PC porting in its description, which likely suggests that while the initiative is being scaled back, Sony still intends to maintain its existing library and perhaps some specific live-service commitments.

Also noted by @Zuby_Tech, was the removal of the “Cross Buy” and “PS5/PC” icons from the PlayStation backend, further strengthening the belief that for Sony PlayStation, PC won't be a priority at all.

Financial reasons likely drive this retreat from the PC platform. Internal reports suggest that Sony's first-party single-player titles generated approximately $300 million in PC revenue over the last three years. While a significant sum, it is effectively a rounding error when compared to the billions generated by the PS4 and PS5 ecosystems. Sony's leadership reportedly believes that the accessibility of these titles on Steam undermines the “must-have” nature of its hardware, particularly as it prepares for the upcoming PlayStation 6 development cycle.

Moving forward, the era of a 12-to-18-month window for PC ports appears to be over for single-player AAA games from PlayStation Studios. If these games ever reach PC at all, the gap will likely widen, returning to the strategy Sony used at the dawn of the PS5 era.

KitGuru says: Do you think the lack of PC ports will actually drive people back to buying PlayStation consoles?

Bethesda details Starfield’s unique PS5 features ahead of its launch

6 April 2026 at 12:00

Two and a half years on from its initial release on Xbox and PC, Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield is finally set to land on the PlayStation 5. Arriving tomorrow alongside the long-awaited Terran Armada DLC (and their ‘free lanes’ update), the team have detailed all of the various PS5 exclusive features being implemented – including creative use of the DualSense controller.

Taking to YouTube to release an ‘Official PS5 Features Trailer’ the team at BGS confirmed that Starfield will be making ample use of the DualSense controller’s unique hardware, with the Adaptive Triggers adding “physical resistance and feedback to the L2 and R2 buttons” depending on the weapons you are using (both on the ground and during ship combat).

Though technically a hardware feature which stretches as far back as the PS4, Starfield will also make use of the DualSense’s light bar; shifting colour “to match your health on the ground or your starship’s status in space”. While not the most transformative of additions, it is welcome to see and does lend itself towards an added sense of immersion.

One hardware feature which has been woefully underutilised in the past is the PlayStation’s trackpad. Starfield seems to be making full use of it however, with a left press switching camera perspectives; a right press opening the map; a right hold activating the scanner and various swipes across the trackpad opening different menus such as your Inventory, Missions, and Skills.

Last but not least, Starfield on PS5 will also offer the option to play all audio logs and intercom chatter through the DualSense’s speaker “pulling you deeper into life among the stars.”

Those who own a PS5 Pro will of course also benefit from the use of PlayStation’s Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaler across both its 30fps Quality and 60fps Performance mode. Unfortunately, there was no mention of a 40fps Balanced mode, and so we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out whether such an option is included.

Regardless, given the fact that Starfield started its life as an Xbox console exclusive, it is encouraging to see the first-party Xbox-aligned studio seemingly taking full advantage of the PlayStation 5 and its unique hardware features.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

Naughty Dog potentially teasing a return to Uncharted

6 April 2026 at 10:00

What was once their bread and butter, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise has not seen a new entry since the 2017 spin-off ‘The Lost Legacy’. Despite this, many fans continue to yearn for the return of the IP in one form or another (live-action movies not included). While it could very well be hopium, one of the creative directors at Naughty Dog has teased that they are conducting research for what appears to be a very Uncharted-esque project.

Taking to Instagram, Naughty Dog creative director Shaun Escayg shared a vibrant image of an old cannon overlooking a beautiful island alongside the caption “Research…”

While nothing else was provided in the way of details or context, fans quickly discovered that the picture in question was taken from Fort George in Trinidad & Tobago. Of course, even without the exact location, the photo itself gives major Uncharted vibes, leading many to hope that Naughty Dog could be in the early stages of work on a revival.

For context, Shaun Escayg is a creative director at Naughty Dog who is perhaps best known for leading the charge on the highly-underrated ‘The Lost Legacy’ spin-off back in 2017. Since then, the studio has been in a bit of an odd spot.

Naughty Dog Uncharted

Of course, they launched the successful-yet-controversial The Last of Us Part II in 2020 followed by a remake of Part I in 2022. Unfortunately, the long-awaited TLOU Online was ultimately cancelled, and so as of right now all that is known officially is that the team are working on the brand new IP Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and a second mystery project.

Given that Intergalactic is being headed by Neil Druckmann, having Shaun Escayg take charge on bringing back Uncharted would make a great deal of sense. It will be interesting to see what this ‘research’ proves to be referring to.

Sony acquires ML-focused company ‘Cinemersive Labs’

6 April 2026 at 09:00

In recent years, Sony has been scooping up quite a wide range of companies, from game development teams to more tech-focused studios. In a surprise announcement, the console maker has now officially confirmed that they have acquired the ‘machine learning and computer vision company’ Cinemersive Labs.

Taking to their blog to make the announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially confirmed that they have “entered into an agreement to acquire Cinemersive Labs, a UK-based machine learning and computer vision company.”

Founded in 2022, this acquisition is said to be part of PlayStation’s efforts to “push the boundaries of visual computing and deliver richer, more immersive gameplay experiences” through the application of “machine learning to enhance gameplay visuals, improve rendering techniques, and unlock new levels of visual fidelity for players.”

Sony Cinemersive

Cinemersive Labs is set to join Sony’s greater Visual Computing Group – “a large team of R&D engineers with unique technical skills in: neural-networks, video coding, quality assessment, generative models, game rendering, and high-performance computing.”

As Sony continues to lean in more heavily on ML-based processes including the likes of PSSR, it makes sense for the console maker to continue to bolster its talent. That said, with how trigger-happy the company has been in recent years when it comes to shutting down prior acquisitions, here’s to hoping that the team at Cinemersive Labs have found a stable new home.

Sony’s next-gen handheld rumoured to outperform Xbox Series S

3 April 2026 at 12:30

Sony might finally be ready to jump back into the handheld market with more than just a streaming accessory. According to recent reports, Sony’s long-rumoured next-gen handheld (codenamed Project Canis) is being designed to outperform the Xbox Series S.

While the Series S was an impressive feat when it released, its RDNA 2 architecture is starting to show its age. Project Canis, reportedly built on the upcoming RDNA 5 architecture, is tipped by KeplerL2 (via VideoCardz) to be “a bit ahead” in rasterization but “massively ahead” in ray tracing and path tracing.

Leaked specifications for this new PlayStation portable suggest a beastly internal configuration: four Zen 6c efficiency cores, two high-performance Zen 6 cores, and a 16-CU RDNA 5 graphics cluster. Most impressive is the rumoured 24 GB of LPDDR5X memory on a 192-bit bus, which would provide the kind of bandwidth that even the current Series S (with its split 10 GB pool) wouldn't match. By moving to a 3nm TSMC process, Sony is reportedly aiming to deliver a high-end experience that fits within a 15W to 30W power envelope.

While Sony is seemingly racing to beat its competitors to market, Valve appears to be taking a more measured approach. KeplerL2 stated that Valve is targeting a 2028 launch for the Steam Deck 2, largely due to the ongoing global DRAM and NAND Flash shortage. Moreover, it was also said that Valve is rumoured to be abandoning the “semi-custom” APU route from the original Deck, instead, expected to use an off-the-shelf AMD APU based on Zen 6 and RDNA 5.

KeplerL2 also wrote that while the Nintendo Switch 2 is limited to a “lighter” implementation of DLSS 2, Sony and AMD are preparing a counter-offensive in the form of an “FSR 5” and “PSSR 3”. According to the leaker, these next-gen AI upscalers could deliver image quality superior to Nvidia’s current DLSS 4.5.
