13 July 2026 at 11:00

While sentiment surrounding the franchise can vary from release-to-release, the Assassin’s Creed series remains one of Ubisoft’s biggest and most successful. In the wake of the long-awaited launch of AC Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft have now confirmed that Assassin’s Creed as a franchise has sold over 250 million copies.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team at Ubisoft shared initial sales figures for the recently-released Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced remake – confirming that over 2 million units were sold in the first 24 hours.

This is but the cherry on top however, with the publisher now revealing that “since it first launched in 2007, the Assassin's Creed series has sold more than 250 million games worldwide.”

According to the company, this puts AC as “one of the best-selling series in video game history”. While sales data in the video games space remains rather elusive, based on what is known, Assassin’s Creed is currently the 8th best-selling franchise of all time – surpassing the likes of Final Fantasy (212 million), Resident Evil (201 million) and NBA 2K (173 million).

Breaking down the growth of the Assassin’s Creed franchise over the years, we can see that 20 million copies of various AC titles were sold in the past 10 months – with the full timeline being as follows:

  • 2010: 20M
  • 2014: 73M

Assassin’s Creed Hexe will include a surprise returning character according to insider

13 May 2026 at 10:15

While Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced remake marks the next entry in Ubisoft’s AC series to be released, the publisher is currently working on a number of different offerings slated to arrive over the next few years. One of the most anticipated is Assassin’s Creed Hexe – a more linear entry which will take players to 16th Century Europe. While official details remain light, insiders have now offered a ton of leaked information on what to expect from this upcoming release.

As reported by known Ubisoft insider ‘Rogue’ (and collated by Reddit user ZamnBoii) a number of voice lines pertaining to Assassin’s Creed Hexe have leaked, confirming a number of story and gameplay details.

Those more spoiler conscious might want to refrain from reading any further, but as revealed by the leaked dialogue, none other than Ezio Auditore himself will make an appearance in Hexe.

Creed Hexe

While unexpected, according to the leaks Hexe’s main protagonist Anika (previously known as Elsa) is a descendent of Claudia Auditore – Ezio’s sister.

In terms of gameplay, fewer details were shared. That said, according to Rogue there will be an unlockable skill allowing for “tree-to-tree branch jumping”. Additionally, though not contextualised, there will also be a mechanic in which NPCs will be able to report minor suspicious activities, requiring players to be a bit more careful.

Full details on the leaked dialogue (including additional lines from Ezio) can be found HERE.
