Haven Studio’s Fairgames is Reportedly Experimenting With a Pivot to Being an Extraction Shooter
All the way back in 2021, a former Ubisoft producer, Jade Raymond, and PlayStation Studios came together to form Haven Studios, a new team that was set to make a new multiplayer-focused game for PlayStation, which was revealed to be a new heist shooter, Fairgames, two years later in 2023. As we've continued to wait for any sign of Fairgames' release, Raymond left the studio, it was rumored to be cancelled at one point, and now, a new report claims it has pivoted to be a new kind of game in what is seemingly the hottest genre around: extraction shooters. Starfield for Nintendo Switch 2 leaked via Game Ratings Board
Years on from its initial Xbox console release, Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield finally landed onto the PlayStation 5 last week alongside its big ‘free lanes’ update. While rumoured to also be making its way to Nintendo’s platform at some point, nothing official has surfaced. That said, it appears as though a Switch 2 release is impending, with the title having now been officially listed by the Taiwanese Game Rating Board.
In recent days we’ve gotten an influx of new listings from the Taiwanese Game Rating board, including ‘confirmation’ that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is set for a Switch 2 port at some point.
In amongst the revelations, publication UniversoNintendo discovered that Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield had also been rated for the Switch 2 – corroborating previous rumours which claimed as much.
No further details were brought to light by the listing, except for the fact that the Switch 2 version’s release date was slated as being the same as its PS5 counterpart (even though the PS5 release has already passed us).
That said, release dates in particular have historically been rather inaccurate in such listings, and so it can safely be ignored.
Regardless, it appears as though Bethesda is gearing up to bring another of its recent releases to the Switch 2. Hopefully it suffers from fewer issues compared to the PS5 version in its current state.
KitGuru says: Have you checked out Starfield following the latest update? How transformative is it? Will the Switch 2 release sell better than the PS5 version is right now? Let us know down below.

Rumoured God of War spin-off gets new leaked details
For years now, fans have been wondering what Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog has been working on, with previous leaks and rumours suggesting that it would be a new IP in a Sci-Fi setting. Recent reports from industry insiders however have since shed some light on the matter, claiming the mystery project to be a God of War spin-off with Kratos’ wife Faye as the lead. Following this, we’ve now gotten additional details, including suggestions that the game will tackle multiple mythologies.
Following leaks back in March which claimed that Sony Santa Monica’s next project is a God of War spin-off focused on Kratos’ late wife Faye which would “differ from the Norse God of War games with more of a focus on action,” we’ve now gotten some additional details pertaining to this rumoured 2027 title.
According to a new report from the publication mp1st, this upcoming spin-off will deviate from the past two title’s Norse-based mythologies, ‘confirming’ that “elements from Chinese and Japanese mythologies will be part of a new entry in the series.”
Of course, while the OG God of War games tackled Greek Mythology and the recent duology took Kratos to Midgard (and the Norse realms as a whole), Sony Santa Monica have teased the existence of other mythologies in-game and so such a shift would not be surprising.
Regardless, we should hopefully learn about this mysterious project sooner rather than later, with insider Tom Henderson recently claiming that an official announcement could be arriving as soon as this month. We will have to wait and see.
KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to this potential spin-off? How different would you like it to be compared to the Norse era games? Let us know down below.

Wolfjaw CEO on Live Service Craze: “Publishers Saw Fortnite, PUBG & LoL and Decided They Needed 50 of Each”
Today's exclusive interview is a bit different from the usual because it is focused on a company called Wolfjaw Studios that is probably unknown to most gamers but still powers many of the most played online games, including the likes of NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Destiny 2, Marathon, Among Us, and Magic: The Gathering Arena. Founded in 2019 by Mitchell Patterson (following a conversation at TwitchCon 2018), Wolfjaw was built from scratch around a single, focused ambition: to establish backend development as a distinct, mission-critical discipline within game development, rather than an afterthought bolted on after the "real" work was […]

TSMC Is Now Pushing to Solve One of the Biggest Constraints For the AI Industry Through Massive Investments in Taiwan and the US
One of the biggest supply constraints the AI industry faces is with advanced packaging, and given that every entity relies on TSMC, it appears the firm is gearing up to add significant capacity. TSMC's Advanced Packaging Supply Constraints Force the Firm to Rapidly Add New Capacity, or Risk Losing Customers We have discussed advanced packaging (AP) bottlenecks extensively on the website, but it is important to note that without adding new capacity, there is no other way to solve this bottleneck in the future. Based on a new report by Taiwan's CNA, it appears that TSMC is now ready to […]

The Seasoning Company Behind Your Food Flavors Controls The Future Of AI Chips, And Supply Is Running Dangerously Low
Well, you read the headline right, and we are talking about a critical element in AI chips that is not only in tremendous shortage but also originally comes from an MSG maker. Ajinomoto, the MSG Maker, Controls the Production of ABF That Is Absolutely Crucial For Advanced Packaging The aggressiveness of the AI demand cycle has left almost every supply chain entity involved facing shortages, whether in semiconductors, advanced packaging, OSAT services, and more. Traditionally, the computing industry has an idea of demand cycles, given how they have historically evolved, but with the AI datacenter buildout, the scale of customer […]

Gearbox stealth-drops Zynga-developed ‘Borderlands Mobile’ for iOS
The Borderlands series is no stranger to portable platforms, with the classic Borderlands 2 being ported over to the PlayStation Vita back in the day, as well as the Switch more recently (even if the status of BL4 on Switch 2 remains unclear). In a wholly unexpected move however, a bespoke mobile version of Borderlands has now been surprise-released for iOS. Even more surprising is the fact that it is developed by FarmVille studio Zynga.
Releasing the game onto the iOS App Store with little-to-no fanfare, a brand new free-to-play ‘Borderlands Mobile’ has officially landed – the description for which reads as follows:
“Create Mayhem YOUR way! Loot wild weapons and blast enemies in this mobile Borderlands experience. Join other Vault Hunters in an ever-evolving universe to fight greedy corporations and open legendary Vaults. This action-packed looter shooter brings the signature chaos, art style, and gun-slinging adventure to mobile for the first time!”
Unlike previous portable BL experiences, this new release appears to be all-original while featuring shorter missions than your typical BL affair.
So far, early impressions seem to be positive, with users noting a lack of any monetisation currently (though this will likely come later down the line).
Regardless, Borderlands Mobile looks to be a pretty competent title, featuring a surprising amount of content from the oft; including a raid boss. Hopefully an Android release is planned at some point in the near future.

Bungie’s Budget for Marathon is Reportedly Upwards of $250 Million
Last month, Bungie released its first new game in years (which is technically just a reboot of an old series). Marathon, a new extraction shooter for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, takes the first sci-fi world Bungie created and brings it into the modern-day gaming landscape, and according to a new report from Paul Tassi at Forbes, Bungie put aside a fair chunk of change to make it. In a report going over the first month of Marathon being on the market and in players hands, at the end of a list of different metrics about the game, Tassi […]

The title is targeting a PC (Steam) release first, with console versions to follow, timing still to be determined. Wccftech checked out a press-only presentation ahead of the reveal, and there might be something interesting here. Hazelight Studios crosses 50M sales across Split Fiction, It Takes Two and A Way Out
Hazelight Studios has made a name for itself over the years with a series of high-quality co-op titles. At this stage, the studio has managed to sell 50 million copies of its games, but as you may expect, the majority of that comes from 2021 GOTY winner, It Takes Two.
In an update this week, Hazelight shared sales figures for its three biggest titles. A Way Out, the prison-escape game from 2018, has managed 13 million sales. The studio's next project, It Takes Two, which also won GOTY at The Game Awards in 2021, has sold over 30 million copies, showing just how powerful global lockdowns were for the gaming market following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hazelight's most recent game, Split Fiction, which came out just last year, has sold over 7 million copies at this stage.
It is unclear what Hazelight is working on next but the studio has found its niche with interesting co-op titles developed under well-managed scope and budget.
Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.
KitGuru Says: Hazelight Studios has its own fandom at this stage, which is a great position for a company to be in. There are millions who will buy whatever interesting co-op title they put out. I just hope they take lessons from Telltale and don't expand too much and saturate the market.
