Moss developer Polyarc is shutting down after 12 years
Another year, another beloved studio gone. Polyarc, the team behind the Moss series, has confirmed itβs shutting down for good after 12 years in business.
The end of the road for Polyarc
The news dropped via LinkedIn, with the studio calling it βthe end of an eraβ and thanking everyone who was part of the journey. No drawn-out corporate spin here, just a straightforward goodbye after over a decade of βriding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that is making video games,β as they put it.
What actually stands out is what Polyarc did next. Rather than just closing the doors quietly, theyβve shared a spreadsheet with contact details for their laid-off developers, urging other studios to reach out and hire them directly. A small gesture, sure, but a decent one in an industry that rarely bothers.
Moss and its sequel Moss: Book II were genuinely some of the best VR games going, eventually getting flat-screen releases too for those without a headset. Losing the studio behind them is kind of sad.

Polyarc joins a grim 2026 tally that already includes Netflix shutting Night School and Moonloot, plus FuturLab cutting staff and canceling a project. At this rate, someone should start a spreadsheet for the studios themselves.
