AMD expands FSR 4.1 support to Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs

AMD has officially released FSR 4.1 upscaling for Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards, expanding the technology to RDNA 3 hardware. Announced by Jack Huynh, the update rolls out via the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 driver.

According to TechPowerUp, the underlying architecture of this RDNA 3 version of FSR 4.1 differs from the RDNA 4 version. Current-gen GPUs feature native processing for 8-bit floating-point data, but RDNA 3 hardware uses INT8 data types and doesn't support FP8. AMD had to convert the model to 8-bit integer data. According to the company, the final image fidelity remains on par with that of RDNA4 hardware.

AMD's also working on optimisations for RDNA3-based APUs. Since integrated graphics aren't as powerful as discrete cards, the firm is fine-tuning lightweight machine learning models to help these chips run FSR 4.1 efficiently. We don't have official confirmation of RDNA3.5 support just yet, but a recent leak (spotted by Reddit user AthleteDependent926) from Valve showed the INT8-based model running on RDNA3.5 without issues, so future updates are expected to cover those solutions as well.

KitGuru says: Bringing FSR 4.1 to RDNA3 users via an INT8 conversion is a great move by AMD, ensuring older hardware isn't left behind when it comes to upscaling.

Nvidia is ending support for the classic Control Panel

Nvidia dropped a new GeForce Game Ready driver yesterday, but it also quietly announced something else on its forum. The long-standing Nvidia Control Panel is losing support.

This has been coming for a while. In a major Nvidia App update back in 2024, Nvidia began migrating over Control Panel features. In a recent update to the app, the final ‘supported' Control Panel features were brought into the Nvidia App version, so the old control panel is being retired.

Here is what the forum post said:

“With the introduction of our most recent NVIDIA App update, all actively supported NVIDIA Control Panel features for GeForce users have been modernized and transitioned to the new client.

After 20 years of dedicated service, the classic NVIDIA Control Panel is officially retiring for Game Ready and Studio Drivers. For NVIDIA RTX PRO users, the NVIDIA Control Panel will continue to be supported until we have migrated professional features to the NVIDIA app.

Existing installs of the NVIDIA Control Panel will remain on users’ systems, unless they perform a clean installation, and users who still need the NVIDIA Control Panel can continue to download it from the Microsoft Store, but we won’t be adding features, fixes, or other changes.”

Nvidia rolls out new Game Ready driver for Forza Horizon 6 and other DLSS titles

Nvidia has released a new GeForce Game Ready Driver optimised for this week’s major DLSS titles, including Forza Horizon 6, Directive 8020, Subnautica 2 and the latest update for Blades of Fire, alongside new details on upcoming support for 007 First Light.

Forza Horizon 6 enters early access on Friday with day‑one support for DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and DLSS Multi Frame Generation, enabling higher frame rates and improved ray‑traced visuals on GeForce RTX hardware. RTX 50‑series users can further upgrade to DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation 6X Mode through the Nvidia app. Nvidia reports significant performance scaling at 4K, with the RTX 5090 exceeding 330fps at max settings with ray tracing enabled.

Directive 8020, the new sci‑fi horror title from Supermassive Games, launches with path‑traced lighting enhanced by DLSS Ray Reconstruction, plus DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation for higher performance on RTX 50‑series GPUs. Battlefield 6 Season 3 is now live, continuing its broad support for DLSS technologies and introducing new reimagined maps.

Subnautica 2 enters Early Access on May 14 with DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation, both upgradable to DLSS 4.5 modes via the Nvidia app. Blades of Fire’s major 2.0 update arrives the same day, adding DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation with optional upgrades to DLSS 4.5.

Ahead of its May 27 launch, 007 First Light will feature DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, with full path tracing arriving later this summer. Nvidia is also offering a new RTX 50‑series bundle that includes the game with qualifying hardware purchases.

New Nvidia graphics driver optimises for Conan Exiles Enhanced

This week, Nvidia's DLSS update includes the new Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion, which gets DLSS 4.5 features via the Nvidia app. On top of that, a new GeForce Game Ready graphics driver has begun rolling out.

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred launched yesterday, and today ARC Raiders’ Riven Tides update will be released, both can be upgraded to DLSS 4.5 via the NVIDIA app. Tomorrow, Neverness to Everness officially launches in North America, Europe, and other regions, following its initial launch last week in China. The game features DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Multi Frame Generation, and path-traced effects. On Thursday, Bus Bound arrives, featuring DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Multi Frame Generation, which can be upgraded to DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation 6X Mode via the NVIDIA app.

The last major game that needs to be talked about this week is Conan Exiles Enhanced. Built in Unreal Engine 5, Conan Exiles Enhanced brings eight years of post-launch content into a fully upgraded experience with dramatically improved visuals, enhanced performance, and modern rendering technology. Conan Exiles Enhanced includes support for DLSS Multi Frame Generation, DLSS Frame Generation, and DLSS Super Resolution, as well as Nvidia Reflex.

This week's new GeForce Game Ready graphics driver is now available to upgrade to through the Nvidia app as well, which includes optimisations for Conan Exiles Enhanced.

Intel launches Precompiled Shader delivery with latest Arc graphics driver

Intel just released the Arc 101.8626 WHQL graphics driver, introducing a cloud-based Precompiled Shader Distribution Service specifically for the new Intel Arc B-series GPUs and the Core Ultra Series 2 and 3 SoCs. By leveraging Intel's private cloud infrastructure, the service processes and precompiles game shaders before they ever hit your system.

According to Intel (via Wccftech), once the Intel Graphics Software App identifies a supported game in your library, it silently downloads these ready-to-use shader files into a shared local folder. This move effectively bypasses the heavy local compilation step that typically bogs down first-time launches and causes frustrating “traversal stutters” during gameplay, essentially bringing a console-like “plug-and-play” experience to the Intel graphics ecosystem.

The performance gains of this new delivery service are nothing short of transformative, particularly for modern AAA titles known for their heavy shader overhead. Intel reports that across the 13 games supported at launch, average loading speeds have more than doubled. The most dramatic outlier is God of War Ragnarök, which sees a 21x improvement in loading times on the B580 and is 37x faster on a Core Ultra X9 x88H with a B390 iGPU. Other supported titles include heavy hitters like Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Black Myth: Wukong, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and The Outer Worlds 2. Even older titles are seeing a lift, with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered clocking in at 1.3x faster.

While this framework is an Intel-exclusive innovation for now, it is part of a broader industry shift toward the Advanced Shader Delivery standard. Intel has confirmed it is working closely with Microsoft to transition this service into the official Microsoft Advanced Shader Delivery framework later this year. This collaboration aims to expand shader coverage across even more games.

Nvidia corrects critical fan failure with 595.71 driver update

Nvidia recently hit a major snag with its 595.59 driver release, which was meant to be the “Game Ready” for the launches of Resident Evil Requiem and Marathon. Instead of delivering smooth frames, it delivered a genuine hardware scare. Just hours after launch, the company had to remove the driver and advise users to roll back because the driver was disabling fan controls. 

To solve the issue, the development team released the 595.71 WHQL driver. This corrected version squashes the bugs that caused those cooling failures. It also includes a fix for a crash in Blackmagic Design that occurred during AV1 decoding. If you've been holding off on your Raccoon City return because of overheating fears, this is the update that makes it safe to go back in the water.

Despite the emergency nature of this patch, all performance enhancements remain in place. That means you can still leverage DLSS 4 in Resident Evil Requiem to maximise your frame rates, while Marathon players still get access to DLSS and Reflex. It is the same performance boost promised last week, but this time, your hardware will actually stay cool while delivering it. The detailed patch notes can be found below:

New Nvidia graphics driver optimises for Marathon and Resident Evil Requiem

NVIDIA has released a new GeForce Game Ready driver optimised for Resident Evil Requiem, which launches tomorrow with support for path tracing, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, and DLSS Ray Reconstruction. The new driver also adds support for Marathon ahead of its Server Slam open playtest this weekend.

Resident Evil Requiem features first‑person and third‑person modes as players follow Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy through a new investigation tied to the 1998 Raccoon City incident. On GeForce RTX hardware, the game enables full path tracing with improved lighting, shadows, reflections and refractions, enhanced further by DLSS Ray Reconstruction. RTX 50‑series GPUs can also use DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation to boost frame rates at high resolutions and settings. RTX 40 series GPU users can also use standard frame generation.

Aside from optimisations for both Resident Evil Requiem and Marathon, the new driver update also fixes a number of issues. For instance, a bug impacting performance in Quantum Break has been resolved, as has an image corruption issue while playing Modern Warfare (2019).

The GeForce Game Ready 595.59 WHQL driver is available now through the NVIDIA app.
