Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced PC system requirements announced

24 April 2026 at 14:00

Just as promised, last night Ubisoft officially revealed Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. Fans will be able to re-experience the story of pirate-assassin Edward Kenway in July, but the PC system requirements for the game have already been announced.

Xbox ‘reconsiders’ multiplatform approach, may pull future games from PS5

24 April 2026 at 13:15

Asha Sharma has been in charge of Xbox for just a couple of months at this point but we are already starting to see some significant changes. For starters, last year's Game Pass price hikes have been reversed. Next on the agenda is a re-evaluation of how Xbox handles exclusives.

For decades, Xbox copied the likes of Sony and Nintendo by offering first-party exclusive games only playable on its console. Over the past couple of years, as operating costs mounted following a string of high-profile studio and publisher acquisitions, Microsoft opted to start shipping its newer first-party games on competing consoles like the PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

At this point, the three biggest Xbox franchises, Halo, Forza and Gears of War, are all going to be playable on PlayStation starting this year. Other major games like Fable are already in the works for PS5 as well. This puts Xbox in an awkward position for the next console generation, as fewer people will be looking to buy an Xbox for exclusives and will instead opt for a PS5, or a gaming PC.

Sharma and the new Xbox leadership team may look to address. In a recent message to the team, the new Xbox head said that they will “reevaluate” the approach to exclusive games.

While this may result in fewer first-party Xbox titles coming to PlayStation or Nintendo platforms, it will not have an impact on PC. Microsoft still views PC gaming as a core part of its strategy and will continue to improve the Xbox PC app in an effort to compete with Steam.

KitGuru Says: Do you think Xbox should go back to shipping exclusive games?

Leak reveals Xbox Game Pass ‘Starter Edition’ bundle with Discord

24 April 2026 at 12:30

Earlier this week, we learned that Microsoft was reversing last year's price hike on PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions. Alongside that, Microsoft also appears to be testing out ideas for new, cheaper tiers of the Game Pass service.

Dataminers like Redphx have discovered new strings on the Windows Store, referencing a new Game Pass ‘Starter Edition' tier. Interestingly, this starter edition appears to be a bundle with Discord Nitro, which confirms recent leaks claiming that Microsoft was in talks with other subscription providers to discuss bundle ideas.

This new Starter Edition of Game Pass would give users access to both Discord Nitro and a smaller Game Pass library consisting of 50 titles. On top of that, subscribers to this tier of Game Pass would also get ten hours of cloud gaming time per month.

This starter edition bundle including both Game Pass and Discord Nitro makes sense, as Microsoft has been looking to collaborate with Discord even further to replace its own Xbox social tools.

KitGuru Says: Do you think a Discord / Game Pass bundle would be successful?

Ubisoft confirms Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

23 April 2026 at 14:30

Over the past week, several leaks have pointed towards an imminent reveal for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, followed by a July release. Now, Ubisoft has confirmed the game publicly for the first time.

In a pre-announcement today, Ubisoft confirmed that it will be revealing Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced to the world later today. The remake of Black Flag will see Matt Ryan reprising his role as Edward Kenway, the main protagonist for the fourth mainline Assassin's Creed game.

The reveal stream will be taking place across both YouTube and Twitch, giving fans a look at rebuilt locations and cinematic sequences, as well as improvements to combat and exploration.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is expected to release for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S systems this Summer. The game is also likely to land on Switch 2 eventually.

KitGuru Says: Black Flag is my personal favourite of the Assassin's Creed games, but I'm not sure I'll be picking this up at launch. Are you looking forward to experiencing Black Flag again?

IO Interactive highlights spycraft, stealth and combat in new 007 First Light trailer

23 April 2026 at 14:00

IO Interactive has released yet another trailer for its new game, 007 First Light. The new Rules of Spycraft trailer gives us a look at new gameplay, including new stealth and action sequences.

Gameplay in 007 First Light is centred around a few key pillars – Spycraft, Gadgets and Combat. Spycraft sees players infiltrating spaces and eavesdropping to pick up Intel and identify objective opportunities. Gadgets enable stealth gameplay and creative problem solving. The Q-Lens highlights hackable devices while the Q-Watch can activate environmental devices to serve as distractions.

When you run out of options, sometimes the only way out is with a fight. For combat, Bond will have access to close-quarters takedowns and rush moves to take enemies out before bullets start flying. You will of course also have a gun, and if you run out of bullets, you can just throw the gun at the enemy instead.

007 First Light is scheduled to launch on May 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and Summer 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2.

KitGuru Says: I'm looking forward to this game. IO Interactive kept players coming back to Hitman in surprising ways, so it will be interesting to see if they have anything up their sleeve for 007 First Light.

Crimson Desert patch adds difficulty selection, inventory tweaks and more

23 April 2026 at 12:30

Pearl Abyss continues to impress with the speed of its patches for Crimson Desert. A number of criticisms from the pre-launch period were addressed in the week of the game's release. Since then, the studio has been focused on making more improvements based on user feedback.

The latest patch for Crimson Desert, Version 1.04, is now rolling out across PC and consoles. The headlining feature of this update is a new difficulty selection system, with easy mode making enemies slower and giving players larger timing windows for dodges and parries, while hard mode makes enemies tougher and players weaker.

Beyond combat tuning, the update delivers a major expansion to housing, storage, and quality‑of‑life systems. New placeable containers—including the 1,000‑slot Sturdy Gatherables Chest, the Kuku Cooler line for food storage, and a 1,000‑slot Collectibles Chest—let players offload materials and ingredients without carrying them. Wardrobes now support outfit storage up to 1,000 slots, and a new “Select House” option allows players to swap between multiple home layouts as their Greymane Camp grows. Housing mode also benefits from improved UI, better controls, and a one‑click option to retrieve all placed furniture.

The patch also adds new pets, gear, tools, and world interactions. Birds join the roster of tamable companions, supported by the new Sotdae of Bond item, while five new cat types and pet accessories expand customisation. Several new weapons and outfits have been introduced, alongside a secret pet‑equipment shop and dyeable Kuku armour variants. Broader improvements touch nearly every system—map filters, inventory categories, shop stock indicators, visual upgrades, controller presets, and a long list of combat refinements for all three protagonists. Stability fixes, HDR improvements, and enhanced upscaling options round out one of the game’s most wide‑ranging updates to date.

Former Witcher devs to reveal Blood of Dawnwalker RPG next week

22 April 2026 at 15:00

For years, a group of former Witcher 3 developers have been working on a new game, titled The Blood of Dawnwalker. Now, this vampire-themed RPG is finally nearing launch, with a big showcase scheduled for later this month.

Next week, the team at Rebel Wolves will give us our first look at gameplay from The Blood of Dawnwalker. The showcase reveal will last around 45 minutes, indicating that we'll be getting a deep dive into the game, not just a surface-level trailer.

The reveal takes place on April 28th and we also expect to get a release date during this event. Pre-orders for the game may also go live shortly after the reveal event.

The Blood of Dawnwalker takes place in a fictional region called Vale Sangora during the chaos of the Black Death, a moment when vampires seize the opportunity to rise from the shadows.

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass prices drop in the UK

22 April 2026 at 14:00

Earlier this week, Microsoft confirmed that it would be unwinding last year's Game Pass price hike, reducing the price for both Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Now, the UK price changes have been confirmed.

As we know already, over in the US, Game Pass Ultimate is coming down from $30 per month to $23 per month. Here in the UK, that works out to £16.99 per month under the new pricing structure.

PC Game Pass, the version of Game Pass exclusively for PC platforms, is the only non-Ultimate version of Game Pass to still include day-one first-party games like Fable, Forza Horizon 6 and Halo Campaign Evolved. Here in the UK, the service will drop in price to £10.99 per month, essentially putting both Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass back at the pricing tiers they were at this time last year.

To help keep Game Pass prices down moving forward, Call of Duty will no longer be a day-one release on Game Pass. Instead, Game Pass subscribers will have to wait one year to get their hands on the game, indicating that previous reports about lower COD sales this year were accurate.

Nintendo Switch 2 continues to outsell PS5

22 April 2026 at 13:00

The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to impress. The new console has already been outpacing its predecessor in first-year sales and that trend continued last quarter, with the Switch 2 being the highest-selling console in March.

According to the market analysts at Circana, the Switch 2 led US game hardware sales for March 2026. In total, console hardware generated $500 million last month, up from close to $300 million during the same time period last year.

The Switch 2 is currently the second-fastest selling console in the US since tracking began in the mid 90s. The new console continues to be on track to outsell the original Switch system by about 12 percent in its first year.

With the Switch 2 leading the pack, the PS5 continues to control second place, leaving Xbox in a distant third place for console sales.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: The Switch 2 hasn't had the same calibre of first-year exclusives as the original console, but that hasn't hurt sales at all.

Microsoft is reducing Xbox Game Pass pricing

21 April 2026 at 16:00

Many criticised last year's Game Pass price hikes. When new Xbox leadership came into place in 2026, we began to hear that people within Microsoft now deemed the service as too expensive. That turned out to be true, as Microsoft is now bringing Game Pass prices back down.

As first reported by Bloomberg, Microsoft is now winding back Game Pass pricing. Game Pass Ultimate will drop from $30 a month down to $23, while PC Game Pass will drop from $16.50 a month to $14 a month.

There is a downside to the price reduction though. Microsoft has also made the decision to not include Call of Duty on Game Pass at launch moving forward. This confirms reports that Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 sales were hurt by their inclusion on Game Pass, while also not providing the growth boost to offset those lost sales.

Call of Duty games will now arrive on Game Pass roughly a year after their launch. It is unclear if other major first-party titles, like Fable or the next Bethesda RPG, will be impacted.

Apple appoints new CEO as Tim Cook steps down

21 April 2026 at 15:00

In the final months of 2025, we began hearing that Apple may be on the hunt for a new CEO, as Tim Cook was expected to step down sometime in 2026 after leading Apple since the passing of Steve Jobs in 2011. Now, it has been confirmed that Cook is indeed departing as Apple CEO.

Apple confirmed last night that Tim Cook would be stepping down as CEO but would remain with the company as Executive Chairman. In his place, John Ternus will become the new CEO of Apple.

Apple has apparently been preparing for this since last year, when Ternus emerged as a frontrunner for the CEO position. For those who don't know, Ternus has worked at Apple for around 25 years and has been a major contributor to generations of iPhones, iPads, AirPods, Watches and other products.

At this point, Apple has cemented itself as one of the biggest tech companies in the world, in large part thanks to the dominance of the iPhone. Ternus will be leading Apple during an interesting time with experimental ideas like the foldable iPhone coming up.

Mass Effect series writer denies recent script re-write rumours

21 April 2026 at 14:30

Earlier this month, a report claimed that Amazon had ordered a round of re-writes for its upcoming Mass Effect series, with the goal of broadening its appeal to people who aren't fans of the game. Now, one of the actual writers on the show has spoken out to dispute this claim.

Daniel Casey, who is one of the writers working on the Mass Effect series, said that the previous report ‘caught him off guard', specifically singling out the ‘non-gaming audiences' quote as untrue: “So, I can’t talk about the specifics of what I’m writing (I’ve signed NDAs, etc) — but for whatever it’s worth, that article by the Ankler caught me off guard just as much as you. I don’t know where that “non-gaming audiences” quote came from or who said it, but at no point has that been said to me.”

Fans were concerned by the previous report as it claimed that Amazon was targeting a ‘non-gaming audience' for the Mass Effect series. In the past, shows like The Witcher and Halo have veered too far away from the source material that made them great, resulting in a show that displeased both fans and newcomers.

Mass Effect is one of the most celebrated Sci-Fi RPGs of all time, so fans are keen to see a show that makes use of established lore, even if it doesn't re-tell the story from the Sheppard trilogy.

KitGuru Says: The Mass Effect series is still early on in development, so it will be a while before we even see a cast or a trailer for the show.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Citizen Sleeper and more leave Game Pass

21 April 2026 at 13:45

The next round of titles for Xbox Game Pass has been announced, including big hitters like Final Fantasy V and Double Fine's latest game, Kiln. There are also some rather big names leaving the Game Pass library this month too, however, including Crytek's multiplayer hit, Hunt Showdown 1896.

While big new games like Kiln, Final Fantasy V and Vampire Crawlers are joining Game Pass this month, there are nine games leaving the library on April 30th, including indie hits like Citizen Sleeper, and AAA titles like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

The full list of games leaving Game Pass on April 30th includes:

  • Citizen Sleeper (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Creatures of Ava (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Endless Legend 2 (PC)
  • Goat Simulator (Cloud and Console)
  • Goat Simulator Remastered (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Hunt Showdown 1896 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • NHL 24 (EA Play) (Cloud and Console)
  • Revenge of the Savage Planet (Cloud, Console, and PC)

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a notable loss, as the game is about to get its final DLC later this summer, before the release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 in 2027.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 announced for PC and consoles

20 April 2026 at 15:00

Back in February during a Dragon Ball anniversary event teaser, a new untitled game was teased. Now months later, that game has been officially named as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, serving as a new chapter in the time-traveling videogame series.

Fans already anticipated this untitled project being Xenoverse 3 due to the initial teaser itself, which Bandai Namco had mistakenly put into a Dragon Ball Xenoverse playlist on YouTube before this week's reveal. Alongside the announcement, a new full-length trailer has also been released:

Unfortunately, this trailer is going to be our best look at Xenoverse 3 for a while, as the game is not scheduled to release until 2027.

To help fans with the wait, Bandai Namco is releasing one final DLC set for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 later this summer.

Windrose hits 1 million sales in just one week

20 April 2026 at 14:00

There seems to be a new hit survival game popping up on Steam each year. 2026 is no different, with Windrose being an early contender for breakout early access hit of the year.

In an update shared on its Steam community page, the Windrose developers shared that the game has sold over 1 million copies during its first week. The game has also achieved an impressive concurrent player count of 200,000 players at its peak.

This is obviously a great start for a multiplayer game, especially an early access title. Now, we will have to wait and see if the studio can maintain this momentum with future updates.

For those who don't know, Windrose is a pirate-themed survival game, where players team up to explore, find treasure, build bases, engage in naval warfare and more. The game currently has a very positive user score, based on tens of thousands of individual reviews on Steam.

Capcom’s Pragmata surpasses one million sales

20 April 2026 at 13:00

Capcom is having a fantastic year so far. Resident Evil Requiem launched a few months ago to wide critical acclaim and millions of sales. Now, its brand-new IP, Pragmata, has also surpassed one million sales in just two days.

Pragmata launched on Friday for PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2, with demos available too for players to try the game beforehand. All of this drove momentum, pushing the game to over one million sales during its first weekend on the market.

In a statement, the development team behind Pragmata spoke on the milestone, saying: “As a completely new IP, PRAGMATA represents a new challenge for Capcom, built from the ground up with an original world and gameplay concept. We are truly delighted that so many players around the world have enjoyed the game, enabling us to reach this milestone of one million units sold. Moving forward, we will continue making every effort to deliver the appeal of PRAGMATA to an even broader audience.”

Pragmata is a near‑future sci‑fi action‑adventure game with third‑person combat and a unique real‑time hacking mechanic. You play as astronaut Hugh and android Diana as they fight hostile robots and try to escape a lunar research station. The game is now available for all PC and console platforms.

Meta is once again raising prices for its Quest VR headsets

17 April 2026 at 15:00

Meta is one of a number of companies chasing the AI dream, spending billions buying up the world memory supply for datacentres and creating major shortages and pricing issues in the consumer electronics segment. Now, Meta is using that very excuse to raise prices for its Quest VR headsets.

The Meta Quest 3 and 3S VR headsets will be getting price hikes starting next week. The Quest 3 512GB, which launched at $499, will now cost $599, while the Quest 3S 128GB and 256GB models each get a $50 price bump.

Here in the UK, that equates to a £550 price tag for the Quest 3, a £410 price tag for the Quest 3S 256GB and a £320 price tag for the 128GB model.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time we've seen Quest VR headsets increasing in price. Back in 2022, on the back of the COVID-19 pandemic, Meta also raised prices for the Quest 2 headsets by £100, blaming manufacturing and shipping costs.

KitGuru Says: Just over ten years ago, the Oculus Rift debuted with a £500 price tag, now a decade later, the technology has improved but prices are higher than ever and there is still a distinct lack of AAA developer interest in the VR space.

Xbox reportedly considering ‘first-party only’ tier for Game Pass

17 April 2026 at 14:00

Recently we learned through a leaked internal memo that the new leadership at Xbox now believes Game Pass to be too expensive, tasking the team with exploring ideas for new tiers and other ways to make pricing more flexible. One of the ideas already floating around is a new Game Pass tier that only includes access to first-party Xbox titles.

Sources speaking with The Verge claim that newly appointed Xbox head, Asha Sharma, is now looking closely at Game Pass and re-examining the model, presumably in response to lower growth following last year's massive price hikes. One option currently under consideration is a new tier, cheaper than Game Pass Ultimate, that offers access to the library of Xbox first-party titles. Currently, in order to access the Xbox first-party library on Game Pass, you either need to wait a year after release for new games to come to Game Pass Premium, or you need to pay extra for Game Pass Ultimate to obtain day-one access.

Xbox Game Pass DLC

Microsoft is also apparently exploring subscription bundles with third-party services. Recently, a Netflix executive did confirm this, saying that Microsoft had discussed the idea with them previously.

While initially, bringing Call of Duty to Game Pass was a big reason for Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company is now also reconsidering and may keep future COD titles off of Game Pass Ultimate in an effort to reduce costs.

KitGuru Says: Last year's Game Pass shake-up and price hike seemed like a mistake at the time and now, all signs are pointing towards Microsoft itself coming to the same realisation.
