Alienware AW2726DM QD-OLED monitor brings prices down to just $350

15 April 2026 at 08:30

Alienware has launched the AW2726DM, a 27-inch QD-OLED gaming monitor that's most likely the cheapest OLED-type panel in the market. However, as you might expect, it has some limitations, most obviously in its brightness output.

The Alienware AW2726DM (via NotebookCheck) features a QHD resolution of 2560×1440 and a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz. Aimed at the budget-friendly segment, the monitor features a 3-year warranty that covers OLED burn-in. The QD-OLED panel is rated for a typical brightness of 200 nits, peaking at 400 nits in HDR mode. The display provides a 0.03ms response time and 99% DCI-P3 coverage. The 10-bit colour depth panel supports HDR content, but it's not VESA-certified. For a tear-free experience, the monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium, though official G-Sync compatibility is not listed in the specifications.

Connectivity consists of one DisplayPort 1.4 port, which is required to achieve the full 240Hz refresh rate at 1440p. Two HDMI 2.1 ports are also provided, supporting native resolutions up to 120Hz. A dedicated headphone jack is integrated into the chassis for audio output.

The AW2726DM features a minimalist black design without RGB lighting. The included stand offers ergonomic adjustments for height, tilt, swivel, and pivot. To manage thermal performance and mitigate the risk of permanent image retention, the panel is equipped with a graphite-film heatsink. The monitor is available now for $349.99.

KitGuru says: It's surprising to see the cheapest QD-OLED monitor coming from a brand such as Alienware. Still, with a price tag like that, it is hard to imagine other monitor makers won't follow suit with more midrange OLED offerings.

MSI MAG 272UP X24 Review (4K/240Hz QD-OLED)

10 April 2026 at 13:15

Today we're back with another QD-OLED monitor review, as we check out the MSI MAG 272UP X24. This is the cheapest 4K OLED we have seen to-date, as it's currently retailing for under £500 here in the UK. That money gets you a 4th Gen QD-OLED panel, with a 27in screen size, UHD resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. It certainly sounds good on paper, but let's see exactly what this monitor can do in the real world…

If the spec for the MSI MAG 272UP X24 sounds familiar, that's because it's essentially the same thing as the MSI MPG 272URX that we reviewed last year. Both monitors use the same QD-OLED panel, so all the key panel specs are the same. The difference is the 272UP is from MSI's MAG series, which is generally more affordable, and as such it misses out on a handful of features compared to the 272URX – things like KVM functionality, a USB hub, and lower-power USB-C power delivery.

However, that does mean MSI can lower the price, and right now the 272UP is retailing for £499 here in the UK, though we're told that's an Easter deal that will run until April 22nd. Even then, PCPartPicker pricing history shows it was only £550 back in February and frequently goes on special offer. So if you want a pixel-dense QD-OLED without spending as much for a more premium model, is the 272UP worth buying?

AOC’s new Agon Pro AG326UZD2 boasts 240Hz Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel

2 April 2026 at 16:00

The latest Agon Pro gaming monitor from AOC looks to be very impressive. It is the first of their monitors to sport a 4th Generation QD-OLED Penta Tandem panel, a newer type of panel that aims to push OLED brightness and longevity to new heights.

According to Displayspecifications, the display features native 4K UHD resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, a 0.03ms GtG response time, and an Nvidia G-Sync Compatible certification, ensuring motion remains fluid and tear-free. However, what sets the AG326UZD2 apart from previous iterations is its focus on panel durability and environmental adaptability. The new Penta Tandem architecture is paired with EL Gen 3 materials and DarkShield 3.0, AOC's latest anti-reflection coating. DarkShield 3.0 (likely Samsung's QuantumBlack film) is specifically engineered to preserve the “True Black” performance of QD-OLED even in well-lit rooms, a common issue for early QD-OLED adopters.

The monitor features a native 10-bit colour depth, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 gamut with factory-calibrated accuracy, achieving a Delta E < 1. On the HDR front, the display carries the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. While typical SDR brightness sits at a robust 300 nits, the panel can reach a peak HDR brightness of 1000 nits at a 3% APL (Average Picture Level).

The AG326UZD2 also features a comprehensive suite of modern ports, including DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1. The inclusion of USB-C with 65W Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt Mode makes it a viable single-cable solution for high-end laptops.

KitGuru says: If you're in the market for a high-end OLED/QD-OLED gaming monitor, the new AOC Agon Pro AG326UZD2 might be worth a look.

Samsung Display introduces QuantumBlack film to eliminate QD-OLED reflections

29 March 2026 at 10:30

Samsung Display has officially announced the launch of QuantumBlack, a next-generation display film engineered to address one of QD-OLED's primary weaknesses: ambient light interference.

While self-emissive panels excel at delivering “True Black” by cutting power to individual pixels, external light reflecting off the panel has historically caused dark scenes to appear washed out or take on a purple tint. Samsung claims this new proprietary coating reduces light reflectance by 20% compared to its previous generation.

Beyond the visual improvements, QuantumBlack provides a significant boost to physical durability. Internal evaluations indicate that the film raises the surface hardness of QD-OLED panels from 2H to 3H. In practical terms, this means the display is more resistant to micro-scratches from routine cleaning or accidental contact with a fingernail.

The technology is set to become a standard feature for the 2026 monitor refresh cycle. Several major hardware partners using QD-OLED panels are already integrating QuantumBlack into their flagship products, though many are using their own marketing terms. Asus is branding the technology as “Black Shield”, Gigabyte as “Obsidian Shield”, and MSI as “Dark Armor”. Regardless of the name on the box, the underlying Samsung film remains the same across these high-end displays.

KitGuru says: Reflection handling has been a minor issue with QD-OLED panels since their debut. A 20% reduction in reflectance, combined with a bump in scratch resistance, is exactly what the tech needs to rival LG's WOLED.

MSI bundles Solasta 2 with QD-OLED monitors

24 March 2026 at 08:00

MSI is looking to capitalise on the launch of the tactical RPG sequel, Solasta 2, by bundling the game with its latest high-end QD-OLED displays. The promotion highlights two specific monitors from MSI's 2026 lineup: the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 and the MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24.

The flagship of this bundle is the MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50, a 27-inch 1440p monitor that pushes the boundaries of OLED speed with a staggering 500Hz refresh rate. Beyond the raw speed, the X50 features the new DisplayPort 2.1a (UHBR 13.5) interface and MSI's OLED Care 3.0. This latest protection suite integrates an “AI Care Sensor” that uses a dedicated NPU to detect human presence, automatically dimming or powering down the screen when the user leaves to mitigate the risk of burn-in.

For those prioritising pixel density over pure frame rates, the MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24 offers a 4K resolution at 240Hz. Both monitors utilise 4th-generation QD-OLED panels, which offer significant improvements in text clarity and sub-pixel arrangement compared to earlier models. Both units also come standard with a 3-year burn-in warranty, a now-standard inclusion for MSI's enthusiast-tier OLED products to ease long-term reliability concerns.

As is typical with these bundles, MSI notes that quantities are limited and the offer will conclude once the digital key allocation has been exhausted.

KitGuru says: Bundling a tactical RPG like Solasta 2 might seem like an odd choice for a 500Hz screen, but the OLED panel's infinite contrast ratios are a perfect match for the game's visuals.

AOC adds affordable 280Hz Q27G4ZD to its QD-OLED monitor line-up

19 February 2026 at 14:00

AOC is adding another QD-OLED monitor to its line-up this week. The new 27-inch Q27G4ZD sits between the previous Q27G4ZDR and Q27G4SDR models, pairing a 280Hz refresh rate with DisplayHDR True Black and ultra-low 0.03ms response times.

The Q27G4ZD expands AOC’s more accessible OLED line-up, giving players a mid‑range option that retains the core benefits of OLED, including ultra-fast refresh rates, but without the premium price tag of a 360Hz+ model. With a QD-OLED panel, you'll benefit from colour accuracy, an extremely high contrast ratio, and crucially for gaming, very low GtG response times.

For connectivity you will get two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4, along with support for FreeSync and G-Sync, making this monitor a great option for both PC and console gaming. A four-port USB hub is included and if you want to use your own monitor arm, then the monitor also supports the standard VESA 100×100 mounting system.

To keep the monitor in peak condition, AOC has OLED Care protections in place to maintain uniform pixel brightness across the panel and avoid burn-in. If you encounter any issues, there is a 3-year warranty in place.

The AOC GAMING Q27G4ZD will be available starting this month, priced around £419.99.
