Hogwarts Legacy 2 is Officially In Development, As Warner Bros Acknowledges Its Existence In New Letter To Shareholders

12 August 2026 at 14:48

A young character in Hogwarts Legacy holds a glowing wand inside a wand shop, surrounded by shelves filled with wand boxes.

Following the smashing success of Hogwarts Legacy, very few doubted that the series would continue in some form. Although job ads and rumors suggested the game developed by Avalanche for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch consoles would indeed receive a sequel, Warner Bros. never acknowledged the game until today, when its existence has been made official in a new letter to shareholders. "Games remains an important growth lever as we work toward our long-term Studios segment goals," the letter reads. "During the second quarter, we released LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – the highest […]

Remedy Keeps Its Silence On Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake, As Rockstar Seizes Control Of Its Promotion

11 August 2026 at 14:54

A silhouette of a man holding a gun against a red background, resembling cover art from the video game series Max Payne.

Besides working on CONTROL Resonant, which will mark a significant shift for the franchise with the introduction of action gameplay reminiscent of games like Devil May Cry, Remedy Entertainment is working on the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake for Rockstar Games. In today's financial report, the Finnish developer reiterated that the remake is in full production, but did not elaborate further on the current progress, and we may not hear much about it for a few more months, as the ball is apparently in Rockstar Games' court. As reported by Rockstar Intel, during the Q&A session held after the […]

Oblivion Remastered on Switch 2 Outshines Xbox Series S, as NVIDIA DLSS Becomes The System’s Secret Weapon Again

11 August 2026 at 10:25

A fiery portal surrounded by flames in a dark, ominous environment within the game Oblivion Remastered

Following last year's release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, Bethesda has now launched The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2. As the game still doesn't run as well as it should on the other platforms due to the demanding Unreal Engine 5 that handles the remastered visuals, many were worried the Nintendo Switch 2 would not be a good port, but a new comparison video highlights how NVIDIA DLSS is, once again, the system's secret weapon to deliver image quality higher than the Xbox Series S and solid performance, thanks to […]

Persona 4 Revival Producer Wants Atlus To Remake The First Two Games, But The Original Design Makes It A Nightmare

11 August 2026 at 09:22

A group of anime-style characters fropm the Persona series stands confidently in front of a colorful graffiti mural, each dressed in distinct outfits with paint splatters and holding paint cans.

Persona 4 Revival continues Atlus' remaking endeavors following 2024's Persona 3 Reload, but it seems like the Japanese company is already thinking about what's next for the popular JRPG series following the release of this new remake and Persona 6 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. With Persona 5 being a modern game in no need of an immediate remake, Atlus could be looking at the series' past, but remaking the first two entries in the series will be a significant challenge due to the original games themselves. Speaking with GamerBraves, Persona 4 Revival producer […]

Beast of Reincarnation Gets NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4.0 Support, But Promised Story Improvements Disappoint

10 August 2026 at 10:43

A character in Beast of Reincarnation interacting with a large white wolf-like creature in a dimly lit environment.

Beast of Reincarnation launched last week on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but the game's launch state was far from optimal, featuring a variety of technical issues that made it impossible for many to enjoy what is, in my opinion, a solid action RPG. GAME FREAK and Fictions immediately acknowledged the game's issues, vowing to fix them as quickly as possible, and the first results of their effort are now available in the form of a patch that somewhat disappoints in regard to the promised story improvements. Regarding the game's technical issues, the 1.0.7 patch […]

Square Enix Keeps Its Forecast Frozen, Yet Final Fantasy VII Revelation Could Still Launch Before March 31, 2027

10 August 2026 at 09:55

A character from Final Fantasy VII Revelation casting a green glowing spell in a lush, rocky environment.

Last month, Square Enix confirmed during the annual Summer Game Fest showcase that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will release sometime in Spring 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. While every fan of the series wishes it would release as soon as possible, Square Enix's forecasts for the current fiscal year ending on March 31, 2027 suggest that the third entry in the series will only release from April onward. Despite the financial report for Q1 not inspiring much confidence for a March launch date, the possibility is remains given how the publisher handled the […]

Xbox SSDs are now more expensive than an Xbox Series S at launch

10 August 2026 at 11:00

When Microsoft first kicked off the current console generation, it opted to launch a cheaper Xbox Series S system at $299. Fast forward six years and the base-model Xbox Series S now costs closer to $400, and a 2TB expansion SSD is more expensive than the day-one price of the console itself.Β

SanDisk has now launched its new expansion card SSDs for the Xbox Series X/S consoles. While this would have once been a relatively easy and cheap way to upgrade your console, current SSD pricing has gotten so insane that expanding your storage now could cost you as much as the entire console if you bought one back in 2020.

The 2TB SanDisk Optimus GX C50 expansion SSD is priced at $339.99, while a 1TB SSD expansion card costs $199.99. At one point, Xbox Series S consoles themselves were priced at around $250 for the entire system, which just goes to show how inflated the hardware market has become over the past couple of years.

The decision to opt for a proprietary expandable storage option is proving to be very expensive for Xbox customers. The situation isn't much better on PS5, but at least there, you can buy a normal M.2 SSD instead and slot it in, giving you a greater number of hardware options to choose from, and dual functionality, as the same SSD could later be repurposed for a PC or laptop. Meanwhile, these expansion cards for Xbox are only usable on the Xbox platform and you only have around two or three companies to pick from when buying one.

KitGuru Says: The pricing situation for current generation consoles continues to astound me. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like things are going to get any better by the time the next generation of consoles comes around.Β

The post Xbox SSDs are now more expensive than an Xbox Series S at launch first appeared on KitGuru.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Goes Open-World With a Dynamic Battlefield, As Team NINJA Ditches The Deflection-Or-Die Playstyle

7 August 2026 at 10:44

A warrior character from 'Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember’ wears intricate armor and wields a sword amidst a fiery background.

Wo Long 2: Wings Of Ember was among the many surprise reveals of the non-E3 season, and although the announcement trailer did not show much, it looked clear from the get-go that the new entry in the series would address many of the complaints of the first entry in the series. Ahead of its early 2027 launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, Team NINJA and Koei Tecmo revealed that the new entry in the series is going open-world with a dynamic battlefield that will address the monotonous feel that many open-world games have, while taking […]

Fallout 3 Remastered Should Fix Every Issue Of The Original, As It Did Not Come Out As Bethesda Intended

6 August 2026 at 11:15

A character in power armor stands in a post-apocalyptic cityscape from the game Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 RemasteredΒ has been a known entity for quite some time, thanks to leaked FTC v. Microsoft court documentation, retailer listings, and alleged leaked gameplay, but it was only recently, with official confirmation straight from Bethesda, that fans of the post-apocalyptic RPG series could start getting excited for the return to theΒ Capital Wasteland. In a new interview with The Examined Game, former Bethesda artist Nate Purkeypile - who worked on the original 2008 title as a World and Lighting Artist, as well as Lead Artist for expansions like Point Lookout - provided a few more reasons why fans should get […]

Beast of Reincarnation Borrows Crimson Desert’s Playbook, as Game Freak Scrambles to Fix Its Divisive Debut With Story Improvements

5 August 2026 at 15:08

A close-up of a character from the game Beast of Reincarnation, featuring a young woman with long black hair and a red outfit, set against a blurred background.

Beast of Reincarnation, PokΓ©mon series developer Game Freak's first major new IP in a very long time, is now out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and the initial reception has been mixed, to say the least. While I enjoyed the game quite a bit despite its issues, awarding it an 8.5 score, many other gamers did not, as technical performance issues, a very slow start, and derivative mechanics did not sit well with them. However, the Japanese developer isn't going to leave the game in its launch state, taking a leaf from the Crimson Desert playbook to […]

Square Enix’s Lost Final Fantasy VII Spin-Off Resurfaces After 20 Years, Cracked By a 90-GPU Server Farm And $900

5 August 2026 at 11:39

A character in a red cloak with spiked armor holds a glowing, black-hole-like sphere in their hand against a rocky, mountainous landscape in Final Fantasy VII Revelatyion

After the original Final Fantasy VII became a worldwide success, Square Enix decided to expand the game's universe with multiple titles, including console spin-offs like Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, as well as mobile games like the Turks-centered Before Crisis. Recovering and preserving old mobile games has proven to be a major challenge, but a recent breakthrough by preservationist Yuvi made it possible to restore and preserve what is likely the lesser-known entry among the Final Fantasy VII spin-off games: Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode. This incredible breakthrough couldn't have come at a better time, as Square Enix continues […]

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 Refuses To Chase Market Trends, As Warhorse Reiterates 2027-2028 Release Window

5 August 2026 at 10:36

A group of characters on horseback traverses a forest path in a scene from the video game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

With the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series, Warhorse Studios has established itself as the premier game development studio for immersive, historical role-playing games that make no compromises. Although the second entry in the series released last year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S was definitely more welcoming than its predecessor (which was updated for current generation consoles this year), in no way did it compromise its roots, and the next entry in the series, which Warhorse refuses to call Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 although it will belong to the series, will follow suit, despite the franchise now being a […]

Monster Hunter Wilds Squeezes 1440p Docked and 40 FPS from Nintendo Switch 2, as CAPCOM Tests The Hardware’s True Ceiling

5 August 2026 at 09:39

A character from the game Monster Hunter Wilds with distinctive blonde hair and goggles is talking to another character on a wooden platform.

With the Street Fighter 6 port, CAPCOM already proved it knows how to squeeze every ounce of power out of the Nintendo Switch 2 to deliver an extremely good port. However, the real test will be with Dragon's Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds, the two open-world games powered by the RE Engine that have long struggled to run properly even on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While we still don't have any specifics for the former, it seems like the Japanese publisher is set to deliver another impressive port, going from some datamined information. As reported on the […]

GTA 6 Panic Emptied November Calendars, But Danganronpa 2Γ—2 Was Delayed Just So Its Creator Could Play It

4 August 2026 at 11:31

A character in the game 'GTA 6 is holding a gun next to their face, while another character aims a weapon in the background.

GTA 6's launch on November 16 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is set to be one of the biggest game launches of all time, and every other video game publisher has done everything it could to launch their games as far from it as possible, leading to the most packed September and October in recent memory. However, not every game delayed byΒ Rockstar Games' highly anticipatedΒ open-world gameΒ had its release date moved for economic reasons. Danganronpa series creator Kazutaka Kodaka delayed Danganronpa 2x2 as, otherwise, he wouldn't have had enough time to play GTA 6. "Of course, we wanted more […]

CAPCOM Defies Expectations With Onimusha: Way of the Sword, As It Ditches Linear Design To Open Up Chunks Of Kyoto

4 August 2026 at 09:32

A character from Onimusha Way of the Sword holding a glowing, ornate gauntlet in a misty forest setting.

With Onimusha: Way of the Sword, CAPCOM is bringing back on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 a series that has been too long on hiatus. Although the playable demo sold the game to most fans already, despite its low challenge level (which will be addressed in the full game with difficulty sliders), a new bit of information that has arrived thanks to an exclusive preview by PC Gamer reveals how CAPCOM is going to defy expectations, featuring more open-ended scenarios alongside the linear stages the series always featured with its unique take on the classic […]

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Revelation Has 4 Jobs Per Character Due To Development Constraints, Yet This isn’t Necessarily Bad

3 August 2026 at 10:14

Characters from 'Final Fantasy VII Revelation' in a mystical landscape, with Cloud Strife kneeling among glowing flowers.

Thanks to the Highwind airship redefining the trilogy's scale, allowing Cloud and his companions to travel quickly throughout the game's big map, Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix is set to be a significant step up over Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. While the combat system isn't set to change a whole lot, as director Naoki Hamaguchi believes it has been perfected in the second entry in the trilogy, the conclusion of the saga will still spice things up with the FITS system, bringing a job system for the first time into the Final Fantasy VII universe. Following the game's […]

Xbox May Walk Away From Steam, As It Reportedly Prepares PC Strategy Shift Amid 2026 Reset

1 August 2026 at 17:24

Logos of Xbox and Steam displayed side by side against a dark background.

Following the acquisition spree spearheaded by former head Phil Spencer, Xbox is going through a challenging phase which led to multiple waves of layoffs, studio closures, and a radical change of how the business will have to operate to survive in these difficult market conditions. Among the things the company is planning and evaluating is how it operates on PC, and the discussions around this could give it a window to walk away from Steam, according to Windows Central's Jez Corden. "I do know like Microsoft has some plans with regards to how they show up on PC," Corden said […]

Square Enix’s Cautious Earnings Forecast Hides Final Fantasy VII Revelation’s True 2027 Launch Window, But FFXIV Link Gives It Away

31 July 2026 at 10:00

Characters from Final Fantasy VII Remake stand on a snowy landscape under a starry sky.

After a long wait, Final Fantasy VII Revelation was officially revealed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch 2 last month. Although the long showing did an excellent job teasing how the third entry in the series will perfect the formula introduced in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it did not provide a precise release date besides a generic Spring 2027 window, suggesting the game could release in the tail end of the season, such as late April or even May. However, some recent statements from Naoki Hamaguchi suggest the game may launch as early […]
