AMD Is Finally Bringing FSR 4.1 To RDNA 3 GPUs In July, RDNA 2 GPUs In Early 2027

Finally, AMD is doing what millions were waiting for. If FSR 4.1 lands on previous-gen GPUs, millions of gamers can have superior visuals without sacrificing performance. AMD Announces FidelityFX Super Resolution 4.1 for RX 7000 and RX 6000 GPUs; To Support Over 300 Games At Launch While AMD launched FSR 4.1 in March, it kept quiet about bringing it to the older-gen hardware. AMD has received criticism due to being silent on bringing FSR 4.0/4.1 to the RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 hardware, despite the fact that NVIDIA has been bringing its latest DLSS technology to the older-gen cards. Looks […]

AMD is bringing FSR 4.1 upscaling to RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 GPUs

14 May 2026 at 16:00

AMD launched FSR 4 a while back and it has already produced some noticeably better results in newer titles on RX 9000 series graphics cards. Now, AMD is also bringing its latest FSR 4.1 Upscaler to older RDNA 3 and RDNA 2-based GPUs.Β

The new FSR 4.1 upscaler is an upgrade over its predecessors thanks to the inclusion of ML-based upscaling. Like DLSS, this latest version of FSR uses AI machine learning to produce better final results.

RDNA 3 graphics cards, like the RX 7000 series of desktop GPUs, will get support for FSR 4.1 starting in July. Then in 2027, AMD also plans to bring the technology to RDNA 2 graphics cards as well.

While not confirmed yet, this theoretically means that other RDNA 3 or RDNA 2 powered GPUs, like the ones found in current-gen consoles and devices like the Steam Machine, could also see support for FSR 4 eventually.

KitGuru Says: With FSR 4.1 upscaling becoming available to a much wider userbase, we should see adoption grow too.Β

28 February 2026 at 18:00

A graphic displays 'FSR 4 Redstone' powered by machine learning with the Vulkan logo and the text 'via OPTISCALER' on a red

Well, it looks like the Optiscaler team has done it again. Seems like every time I finish writing an article about a new Optiscaler feature, they push out a brand new release with even more functionality. Maybe it's personal, and they want to keep me shackled to my desk for eternity, pumping out article after article about their excellent mod. Or maybe this is a form of protest against AMD's continuous refusal to meet the demands of the community and officially release INT8 FSR4? Regardless, as long as they keep on pumping out brilliant new updates, I'll be here to […]
