Sony has announced the next batch of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games. In August, subscribers will be able to claim three more games, headlined by Dying Light 2. There are also some extra freebies for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, which is finally launching after months of playtesting. 

Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition (PS5/PS4) headlines the lineup this month. The Reloaded Edition includes the base game alongside a number of updates and improvements added since launch. Players take on the role of Aiden Caldwell as they explore a post‑apocalyptic city, battling infected enemies, navigating faction conflicts and uncovering the truth behind Aiden’s past. The game also supports up to four‑player co‑op.

Big Walk (PS5) is a cooperative adventure focused on communication and teamwork. You and your friends explore a wide‑open world filled with puzzles and challenges, using tools and toys to stay connected and solve problems together. It’s a more relaxed, social experience, with plenty of opportunities to simply explore, experiment and hang out.

Signalis (PS4) rounds out the lineup. This atmospheric survival horror game blends retrotech aesthetics with cosmic dread, following Elster, a Replika technician searching for her lost partner. Expect challenging puzzles, unsettling environments and a tense, melancholic tone throughout.

PlayStation Plus members have until the 4th of August to claim July’s games before they rotate out. Starting August 6th, subscribers can also redeem a free MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls PlayStation Plus Pack, which includes five character‑themed avatars and a set of in‑game result screen poses for the PS5 version of the game.

Souls-likes have become an increasingly prominent genre within the video games space, with developers from across the world offering their own take on the highly-popular gameplay design format made famous by FromSoftware. While far from the peak of the genre, 2025’s Wuchang: Fallen Feathers did make an impression upon its initial release. Despite the reported shuttering of its dev studio, Wuchang has continued to find new players, with the game having now surpassed 5 million in total.

Taking to the game’s Steam page to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, publisher 505 Games revealed that the souls-like has surpassed a major milestone, writing:

“On this very special day, we're also delighted to confirm that we've surpassed 5 million players. Thank you to every single person who has played, supported, shared, and believed in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. Reaching this incredible milestone has only been possible thanks to this amazing community.”

It’s worth mentioning that 5 million players does not equate to 5 million copies sold, especially given that the game was added to PlayStation Plus back in May – likely helping to boost overall player numbers.

As mentioned, the studio behind Wuchang: Fallen Feathers – Leenzee – reportedly shut down just a couple months ago following backlash from fans due to claims of ‘censorship’ made after the game’s initial release. While nothing has been confirmed, the blog post celebrating Wuchang’s anniversary shied away from making any reference to studio ‘Leenzee’ (with the only mention of the team being as part of some legalese at the bottom of some celebratory art work.)

Regardless, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is worth checking out by fans of the souls-like genre.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been a huge success so far, becoming the fastest selling Assassin's Creed game of all time on Steam, alongside high console sales. While the game is already in a good state at launch, the developers do have ideas for future updates, including a New Game Plus mode.

As spotted by GamesRadar, in a recent interview with gaming content creator, JorRaptor, Richard Knight, the director for Black Flag Resynced, confirmed that New Game Plus will be coming to the game. The feature is already in production, although he can't share more specific details about how it will work yet.

New Game Plus modes typically allow you to take your already levelled up character from a completed save game and then send them back to the start of the journey with all of their upgrade progress intact. It is often a fun way to re-play a game with all of your tools at your disposal.

While it is unclear exactly how New Game Plus will work in Black Flag Resynced, Knight did also mention in the interview that he would like to see players get additional rewards for playing it, but final decisions have yet to be made. Hopefully we'll have specific details about all of that in a month or two.

OnePlus, once known for its “flagship killer” smartphones, appears to be withdrawing from Western markets. The company has struggled to maintain its presence as a top competitor to Samsung, Apple and Google in recent years, and now future OnePlus devices may only launch in select regions.

According to a report from The Verge, OnePlus may stop releasing new products outside of the China market. Parent company Oppo says it will continue to honour existing support and warranty agreements, though details remain unclear for US customers, as OnePlus has quietly wound down its operations there. In Europe, Oppo will continue selling devices, and OnePlus phones will transition from OxygenOS to Oppo’s ColorOS “in the coming months”. Users will have the option to roll back to OxygenOS, but doing so will mean missing out on future updates.

Oppo executives declined to comment on which markets OnePlus will continue operating in. Bloomberg recently reported that OnePlus may exit India and all remaining markets except China next year. Oppo’s PR team would only confirm that the OnePlus product roadmap in China remains unchanged, offering little reassurance about the brand’s global future.

Oppo’s other sub-brand, Realme, is also undergoing restructuring. OnePlus is still preparing to launch its next flagship, the OnePlus 16, but global availability is now uncertain.

Sony has announced the next batch of games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. Those on the Extra plan will get access to seven more games this week, headlined by Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Rise of the Ronin.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is one of the more underrated Ubisoft titles in recent years, offering some of the best visuals for current-gen titles, alongside some changes to make it more immersive compared to many other Ubisoft open world games. If you aren't already a fan of Avatar, then it might not convince you, but if you are a fan, then it is well worth picking up.

The launch of free content would allow Disney+ to better compete with free services like YouTube and Tubi, which are capturing a growing share of consumers’ viewing time.

Each Month, Sony updates its PlayStation Plus Essential line-up with a solid 3 titles or so, available to claim by all those with a PS Plus subscription. As they announced previously, July’s line-up is now officially available to add to your library – including the 2D Action-RPG CrossCode and Sledgehammer Games’ underrated Call of Duty Modern Warfare III.

Available to add to your library from now until the end of the month, July’s PlayStation Plus line-up features the following:

The headliner for this month is of course Modern Warfare III. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, 2023’s COD entry suffered somewhat at launch due to a relatively poor campaign alongside additional baggage being carried over from 2022’s MWII.

That being said, Modern Warfare III is one of the best COD entries in years – in particular when it comes to the multiplayer side of things; featuring countless weapons, camos, maps, modes and much more. While atypical, MWIII also includes its own Zombies mode, with MWZ proving to be a popular alternative to the standard round-based mode.

CrossCode meanwhile is a retro-inspired 2D Action-RPG featuring 16bit graphics and a fleshed out physics system alongside fast-paced and satisfying combat. Relkieased back in 2018, CrossCode saw high and consistent praise from both critics and fans alike – described as “a near-perfect attempt at recapturing the charm and magic of action RPGs from the 16-bit era.”

Released in late 2024, For the King II is a co-op turn-based roguelite tabletop RPG. While the game includes a full on campaign with 5 chapters to complete, this sequel also introduces a new ‘Infinite Dungeon Mode’ for added replayability.

Samsung seems to be finalising the SSD 990, a new upcoming value-oriented M.2 NVMe Gen 4 SSD that recently surfaced briefly on the company’s Canadian website. Screenshots reveal details of the new drive, which slots underneath the existing 990 Evo Plus in Samsung's storage lineup.

The new entry-level drive spotted by VideoCardz uses a PCIe Gen 4 x4 interface, distinguishing it from the 990 Evo Plus, which features a hybrid Gen 4 x4 or Gen 5 x2 interface. According to the leaked specifications, the SSD 990 is a DRAMless design that relies on an updated in-house Samsung controller. The leak also indicates lower write endurance than the TLC-based 990 Evo Plus, suggesting the plain 990 uses QLC NAND flash.

Performance data from the product listings shows sequential transfer speeds reaching the upper limits of the PCIe Gen 4 era. The 2TB variant delivers sequential read speeds up to 7250MB/s, while the 1TB model scales back slightly to 7150MB/s. Both capacities are rated for sequential write speeds up to 6450MB/s. Endurance metrics are listed at 400TBW for the 1TB model and 800TBW for the 2TB model.

Unfortunately, availability is still unknown, but Canadian listings suggest the 1TB version would be around £180 (excluding VAT) and the 2TB model would be close to £350 (also excluding VAT).
