XPG reveals new Rift and Aperture gaming monitors with up to 240Hz refresh rates

Adata’s gaming brand XPG has announced four new gaming monitors across its new Rift and Aperture series. The lineup includes the 34‑inch curved Rift R34WXC, the 23.8‑inch Rift R24F4, and two 27‑inch Aperture displays: the A27Q1 and A27F4.

Leading the Rift series is the Rift R34WXC, a 34‑inch 21:9 ultrawide with a 1500R curvature and UWQHD 3440×1440 resolution. XPG lists a 200Hz refresh rate, 1ms MPRT response time, a 4000:1 contrast ratio, and 350nits peak brightness, alongside 93% DCI‑P3 colour coverage. The smaller Rift R24F4 offers a 23.8‑inch Full HD IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms MPRT response time, and 99% sRGB coverage.

For higher refresh rates, the Aperture series introduces two 27‑inch options. The Aperture A27Q1 pairs a 27‑inch QHD Fast IPS panel with a 210Hz refresh rate, 1ms MPRT response time, support for 1.07 billion colours, and 99% sRGB coverage. Meanwhile, the A27F4 targets esports‑focused setups with a 27‑inch Full HD IPS panel running at 240Hz and a 1ms MPRT response time.

All four displays support Adaptive Sync to help reduce screen tearing during gameplay.

LG Display reveals FLiPP technology for brighter, more efficient OLED panels

LG Display has introduced FLiPP, a new OLED manufacturing method that removes the need for fine metal masks during pixel patterning, improving efficiency, brightness and long‑term durability.

LG Display will showcase the technology at IMID 2026 in Busan starting this week. According to LG, FLiPP increases pixel aperture ratio by around 55%, enabling up to 60% higher peak brightness, a 140% increase in panel lifespan and a 13% reduction in power consumption compared to traditional FMM production.

Traditional fine metal masks can introduce colour mixing defects due to sagging on larger substrates. FLiPP instead uses photolithography and UV etching to apply RGB pixels directly to full 8.5‑generation mother glass, improving utilisation efficiency by up to 64% while lowering production costs across a wide range of panel sizes.

Beyond FLiPP, LG Display also confirmed that its Hyper Double Scanning (HDS) panel‑driving technology won the IMID Display of the Year Award and is already used across its mass‑produced OLED TV lineup.

KitGuru Says: OLED pricing has already fallen significantly in recent years, particularly for TVs and gaming monitors. FLiPP looks like another step toward improving manufacturing efficiency and panel performance rather than a sudden turning point for consumer pricing.

MSI Claw handhelds can now hit 180Hz with ClawLab fix

Handheld gaming PCs rarely get proper VRR support out of the box, and MSI’s Claw lineup is no exception. That’s where ClawLab comes in, a community-made fix that’s just dropped its biggest update yet.

Version 2.2.0 of the Intel VRR Range Fix now supports the Claw A1M, 7 AI+, 8 AI+, and 8 EX AI+. The stable side of things brings a proper 30-120Hz or 45-120Hz VRR range, finally giving these handhelds smoother scaling instead of the jerky refresh rate jumps you’d normally deal with.

Then there’s the fun part: experimental overclock profiles pushing certain models up to 180Hz. We’re talking 48-165Hz, 48-180Hz, 30-144Hz, 30-165Hz, and 30-180Hz options, all flagged as unstable and untested.

Here’s the catch though. Whether your Claw can actually run these higher refresh rates comes down to the silicon lottery. Some panels will handle it fine, others won’t, and there’s no way to know until you try.

If you’re running one of the supported models, the update is live now via the project’s GitHub. Just don’t go in expecting 180Hz to work on the first attempt.

Test shows modern OLEDs match older panels in burn-in resistance at higher brightness

Rtings has published the results of a long-term OLED longevity test, revealing that displays from 2020 through 2023 develop burn-in similar to that of a 2017 model after 10,000 hours of simulated usage. This test was done with TVs, but the findings can mostly be applied to any OLED panel.

Rtings testing covered a 2017 LG C7 alongside 19 newer models spanning 2020 to 2023. Each display was run at its maximum SDR brightness to simulate daily wear over 10,000 hours, which works out to about 5 hours per day for 10 years. All units suffered from image retention by the end of the test.

Although burn-in resistance was somewhat similar under test conditions, the data show clear improvements in other areas. The results show that 2023 panels were, on average, 28% brighter at 10% window sizes and over twice as bright at 100% window sizes compared to the 2017 unit. Power efficiency also improved, with 2023 models consuming 27% less energy on average. To hit 100nits, the 2017 OLED drew 130W, whereas the 2023 displays drew only 95W.

Based on these results, Rtings pointed out that users don't need to max out panel brightness on newer models, meaning that running them at the same luminance reduces pixel wear and lowers power draw. LCDs still lead in peak luminance, but these efficiency and brightness headroom improvements give OLED owners better tools to delay permanent image retention.

HKC announces 1300Hz monitor and 12K ultrawide

HKC has revealed its upcoming display lineup for ChinaJoy, highlighted by a tri-mode 1300Hz esports monitor alongside an 83.4-inch 12K ultrawide monitor.

First spotted by VideoCardz, HKC describes the flagship 1300Hz unit as a tri-mode esports monitor. However, HKC hasn't disclosed its screen size, panel type, or the specific resolutions and refresh rates supported by each mode. Joining the lineup is the AntGamer ANT25ASF, a Full HD display featuring a native 1000Hz Fast TN panel with a rated 0.8ms G2G response time that appeared at Computex 2026. HKC is also debuting an RGB Mini LED 4K dual-mode monitor as part of its exhibit.

Other scheduled displays include the HKC Apex 32U165VD, a 31.4-inch 4K monitor featuring an RGB Mini LED backlight and dual refresh-rate modes. For wide-format setups, the company will demonstrate the Shield C83U60, an 83.4inch ultrawide display operating at an 11520×2160 resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate and R1000 curvature. HKC's booth will also feature additional 57.1-inch, 39.7-inch, and 43.8-inch ultrawide models. Pricing, release dates, and regional availability for all mentioned displays remain unknown.

MSI details MAG View Xpander 12 secondary display

MSI has shared additional details about the MAG View Xpander 12, a 12.3-inch IPS display designed for internal hardware monitoring or as a secondary display in desktop setups.

The MAG View Xpander 12 display (via Vortez) features 1920×720 resolution and is available in both black and white finishes. Designed to run in landscape or portrait orientation, the panel integrates with MSI Center software to show system metrics, clock faces, photo slideshows, and custom notifications. Users can also configure the unit as a standard secondary Windows display for chat apps, streaming tools, or reference material.

Installation options include mounting the panel to a 360mm radiator bracket, attaching it to a 120mm fan using an included L-shaped bracket, or placing it on a desk as a standalone monitor. MSI states the screen natively supports select Pano, Velox 300, and Maestro series cases. Power and video signals run over a single USB connection, with both Type-C-to-Type-A and internal USB header cables included in the box.

Samsung’s latest Tandem OLED panels upgrade to DisplayHDR True Black 1400

Samsung Display has started supplying tandem OLED laptop panels that meet VESA's new DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification, a significant upgrade over the previous generation. These new ultra-bright OLED panels are now shipping to laptop OEMs around the world, so we should see them in new laptop designs very soon. 

To qualify for VESA's DisplayHDR True Black 1400 standard, displays must reproduce black levels of 0.0005nits or lower while reaching a peak brightness of 1400nits at a 10% On Pixel Ratio (OPR). This increases the peak brightness requirement by 40% compared to the previous DisplayHDR True Black 1000 benchmark.

Samsung Display states that its new tandem OLED panel achieves up to 1600nits of peak brightness at the panel level. That represents a 40% improvement over conventional single-stack OLED panels capped at 1100nits. Stacking two organic emissive layers reduces stress on each layer, doubling the panel's lifespan under standard laptop operating conditions. Newly developed materials also optimise light efficiency and operational stability.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition (16″, 11) earned True Black 1400 certification on July 8th using this panel. Additional products from Asus, Dell, and MSI are expected to feature the display from the second half of this year through next year. Samsung Display will also showcase the technology at K-Display 2026 in Seoul from July 22nd to 24th.

VESA introduces new DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification standard

The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has announced DisplayHDR True Black 1400, a new performance tier in its display specification certifying the latest generation of OLED displays. This new spec targets both professional HDR content creation and premium consumer displays.

To achieve certification under the new tier, displays must reach a peak luminance of at least 1400cd/m² while maintaining black levels down to 0.0005cd/m². The specification also increases the required full-screen luminance to a minimum of 700cd/m². VESA states that these thresholds are made possible by recent technological innovations such as tandem OLED architectures, which boost sustained brightness without compromising the deep blacks characteristic of emissive panels.

The new standard builds directly on the testing framework established in the DisplayHDR CTS 1.2 specification. This framework requires more rigorous validation for colour accuracy, contrast, and black-level performance. Lenovo will showcase the very first certified displays at Bilibili World 2026 in Shanghai from July 10-12th. Samsung also plans to demonstrate qualified OLED and QD-OLED panels featuring this tier at various trade shows during the second half of the year.

KitGuru says: The introduction of the DisplayHDR True Black 1400 tier establishes a clearer performance standard for the latest high-brightness tandem OLED panels entering the market. Still, don't expect every new OLED to meet the criteria for this new certification, at least for the foreseeable future.

Testing Methodology:

We are primarily focusing on the performance of each cooler at 100% fan speed and also when locked to 40dBA noise output. We will focus on cooling performance using a manual overclock with all-core frequency and VCORE locked to 5.2GHz/1.3V (AMD) and 5.5GHz/1.3V (Intel) and Precision Boost Overdrive performance.

  • The test data is logged using HWINFO and the final 10 minutes of the data is calculated to find the average CPU temperature and CPU clock multiplier (AMD PBO Test) and then plotted in the charts.
  • For testing, we use a 30-minute looped run of Cinebench R23 and record the steady-state CPU temperature at the end of the test. This ensures that the CPU has had ample time to warm up and reach a steady state under all of the coolers.
  • The ambient is maintained at 19-21 degrees Celsius. Where there is variation beyond this temperature range, we add extra repeated tests to ensure consistency. However, this is well controlled now with A/C.
  • We also test each cooler with at least two fresh installs (typically three) to mitigate the likelihood of poor mounting spoiling results.
  • Ambient temperature and humidity are controlled via a mini split air conditioning system inside the test room. Ambient temperature is maintained between 19-20°C; temperature delta figures are shown in the charts (ambient temperature is deducted from the measured component temperature).

Test Results:

Acoustics

We will start by looking at noise output which gives us a good indication of thermal performance based on noise.

When looking at noise output with the fans and pump operating at max speed, there’s quite a wide spread between the coolers on test. The quietest is the ASRock Challenger 360 Digital at 47dBA, which puts it among the quieter coolers in our database overall. The Enermax Liqmax IV 360 also performs well at 48dBA, while the CPS PCCOOLER GT360M ARGB Display sits in the middle at 51dBA.

At the louder end of the chart are the ASRock Phantom Gaming 360 LCD and Cooler Master MasterLiquid Core Nex 360 ARGB both at 52dBA, which is noticeable but still quite typical for 360mm liquid coolers running flat out. The Sudokoo Energlo 360 comes in slightly higher at 53dBA, while the loudest cooler of this group is the DeepCool Spartacus 360 at 55dBA. That’s definitely getting loud enough to be quite distracting.

Thermal Performance: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X

With fans and pumps still running at max speed, thermal performance from the coolers on test is competitive, with only  2°C  separating the best and worst results in this test. Leading the pack are the CPS PCCOOLER GT360M ARGB Display, DeepCool Spartacus 360 and Sudokoo Energlo 360, all at  59°C CPU over ambient under steady-state load, which places them among the top performing AIOs in our chart overall.

Just behind are the ASRock Challenger 360 Digital and Phantom Gaming 360 LCD, alongside the Cooler Master ML Core Nex 360 ARGB, with all three producing a 60°C delta result. While not chart-topping, the difference in real-world terms is small and well within the range you would expect from good 360mm liquid coolers. The Enermax Liqmax IV 360 Display trails slightly at 61°C, though again the margin is minimal.

At a noise-normalised level of 40dBA, the thermal results provide a clearer indication of efficiency once acoustics are taken into account. At the top we see the ASRock Challenger 360 Digital and Phantom Gaming 360 LCD, both with a 63°C delta, placing them in the top end of the chart. Just behind them is the Sudokoo Energlo 360 at 64°C over ambient, followed by the CPS PCCOOLER GT360M ARGB Display and the DeepCool Spartacus 360 at 65°C. suggesting similar efficiency once acoustics are equalised.

Further back is the Enermax Liqmax IV 360 at 66°C over ambient, while the Cooler Master MasterLiquid Core Nex 360 ARGB trails slightly further at 67°C. These results indicate both models lose efficiency when limited to a 40dBA noise target, relying more heavily on higher fan speeds to maintain thermal performance.

Switching to AMD PBO testing, the results reflect a more real-world scenario where we see how effectively coolers can maintain boost clocks under sustained load. The strongest results come from the ASRock Phantom Gaming 360 LCD, which posts a 52.5x clock multiplier and 63°C delta, placing it among the top-performing units in the PBO test. The ASRock Challenger 360 Digital follows with the same clock multiplier but just 1°C higher delta so basically producing the same CPU performance.

Just below is the Deepcool Spartacus with the same 52.5x clock multiplier at 65°C and the Sudokoo Energlo at 66°C delta, again with a 52.5 x multiplier. Further back with a clock multiplier of 52.4x are the Cooler Master ML Coer Nex Digital at 64°C delta, the CPS PCCOOLER GT360M at 64°C and the Enermax trails at 66 °C over ambient. While these results place them behind the best coolers, the clock multipliers are narrow enough that, under AMD PBO conditions, all of the tested 360mm AIOs deliver similar sustained boost behaviour.

KitGuru says:  In terms of real-world performance, all of these coolers are quite closely matched. However, in terms of best value for money, I'd go with the ASRock Challenger 360 Digital as it combines good thermals, low max fan speed noise and a decent-looking screen at a reasonable price.

Asus ROG announces Strix OLED XG34WCDMS and Strix XG129C monitors

 Asus has announced two new gaming monitors this month – the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS and the ROG Strix XG129C. The XG34WCDMS is a 34-inch curved ultrawide featuring a high-refresh-rate RGB Tandem QD-OLED panel, while the XG129C is a 12.3-inch secondary touchscreen designed for system monitoring and productivity.

The ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS uses a WQHD (3440×1440) 1800R curved panel with a 0.03ms GTG response time and a 280Hz refresh rate. It features “BlackShield Film” to improve scratch resistance and black levels, alongside the ROG Stripe Pixel arrangement for text clarity. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black-compliant and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Connectivity options include DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with 15W power delivery.

The ROG Strix XG129C is a secondary 1920×720 IPS display with a 24:9 aspect ratio. It features 10-point touch controls and comes bundled with a one-year subscription to AIDA64 Extreme (€59.95), allowing it to serve as a hardware-monitoring dashboard via exclusive ROG SensorPanel interfaces. The panel covers 125% sRGB and includes a hybrid-signal USB-C port for single-cable power and video, as well as an HDMI 1.2 port.

Both monitors are supported by the ASUS DisplayWidget Center for setting adjustments and firmware updates. The XG34WCDMS features a new compact stand design, while the XG129C includes a built-in adjustable kickstand and a standard tripod socket for mounting.
