Gearbox stealth-drops Zynga-developed ‘Borderlands Mobile’ for iOS

10 April 2026 at 11:00

The Borderlands series is no stranger to portable platforms, with the classic Borderlands 2 being ported over to the PlayStation Vita back in the day, as well as the Switch more recently (even if the status of BL4 on Switch 2 remains unclear). In a wholly unexpected move however, a bespoke mobile version of Borderlands has now been surprise-released for iOS. Even more surprising is the fact that it is developed by FarmVille studio Zynga.

Releasing the game onto the iOS App Store with little-to-no fanfare, a brand new free-to-play ‘Borderlands Mobile’ has officially landed – the description for which reads as follows:

“Create Mayhem YOUR way! Loot wild weapons and blast enemies in this mobile Borderlands experience. Join other Vault Hunters in an ever-evolving universe to fight greedy corporations and open legendary Vaults. This action-packed looter shooter brings the signature chaos, art style, and gun-slinging adventure to mobile for the first time!”

Borderlands Mobile

Unlike previous portable BL experiences, this new release appears to be all-original while featuring shorter missions than your typical BL affair.

So far, early impressions seem to be positive, with users noting a lack of any monetisation currently (though this will likely come later down the line).

Regardless, Borderlands Mobile looks to be a pretty competent title, featuring a surprising amount of content from the oft; including a raid boss. Hopefully an Android release is planned at some point in the near future.

Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is also the owner of 2K, the massive publisher and developer behind several titles, though most notably the annual basketball series, NBA 2K. Today, Rockstar announced that it would be combining the two franchises, with players subscribed to GTA+, which grants special bonuses in-game Grand Theft Auto V, getting access to NBA 2K26 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles for a limited time starting next week. WWE 2K26 Devs on Core Changes, Cutting Last-Gen, Knowing The Island Wouldn’t “Wow” Year 1, and More

23 February 2026 at 16:05

WWE 2K26

A new year means a new WWE 2K game, and I recently made the trip to WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, to go hands-on with WWE 2K26 (read more about that here). As has become tradition, I also sat down with longtime WWE 2K series creative director Lynell Jinks and gameplay producer Bryan Williams to take the current temperature of the series. We delved into a lot of topics, including WWE 2K26’s changes to the series’ core stamina and reversal mechanics, the game’s massive 400 slot roster, added match types, new “Ringside Pass” approach to DLC, why Visual Concepts knew The Island wouldn’t wow everyone […]

WWE 2K26 Hands-On Impressions – Making Moves Across Modes

23 February 2026 at 16:00

WWE 2K26

Last year’s entry in the WWE 2K series left some, including me, wanting. After several years of steady piecemeal improvement, WWE 2K25 went all-in on The Island, a new cosmetic-festooned online hub similar to NBA 2K's The City, with most other aspects of the game falling by the wayside. Was this just a one-year misstep, or the beginning of a new direction? Last week, I traveled to WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, to go hands-on with WWE 2K26 and was surprised to find I could test pretty much the entire game (in years past, journalists were typically given a curated list of […]

Netflix’s Bioshock film adaptation could arrive in alignment with Bioshock 4

23 February 2026 at 09:00

Following several failed attempts to get an adaptation off the ground, Netflix and 2K officially confirmed back in 2022 that a Bioshock film was in the works. Since then, we’ve heard relatively little from the project, only that it would be based on the narrative of the first game. Now however, we have finally gotten a long-awaited update.

In an interview with the publication Collider, the producer for Netflix’s Bioshock adaptation – Roy Lee – revealed that the project will finally soon be taking priority, stating:

“We would have gotten it made a few years back, but then other movies got in the way, with one being The Long Walk and the other being The Hunger Games prequel, which comes out this December. We're just waiting for [director Francis Lawrence] to finish post-production, because he's going to be working on it through at least September, and then jump back into it.”

Bioshock Netflix

Lee continued, “I know that Netflix and Take-Two are very anxious to see the movie come out because they want to have the release coincide with some of the potential new incarnations of the game.”

Lee’s last point is of particular note, as just like with the adaptation, 2K’s long-awaited Bioshock 4 game has also run into its own setbacks. Assuming things go to plan however, we could finally be getting both Bioshock 4 and the Netflix film within a similar time period.

That said, information on both projects remains light, and so it may still be a few more years of waiting.
