Intel Razor Lake-AX APU reportedly locked for overclocking and based on Nova Lake

Intel's rumoured Razor Lake-AX processor will reportedly not be unlocked for overclocking, according to new details shared by leaker Jaykihn. The chip is set to feature Nova Lake CPU architecture on a large APU platform rather than a conventional socketed desktop processor.

Jaykihn (via VideoCardz) claims that Razor Lake-AX relies on Coyote Cove P-Cores and Arctic Wolf E-Cores. This architecture retains more Nova Lake technology than its name implies, separating it from Razor Lake-S/H, which should use a different P-Core and E-Core configuration.

Previous leaks linked Razor Lake-AX to a BGA4326 package featuring on-package memory alongside 16 or 32 Xe3p graphics cores. These physical specs indicate that AX is a large APU platform rather than a standard desktop CPU.

Official branding isn't clear yet, with questions remaining over whether it falls under the Core 400 or 500 series. Intel hasn't officially announced Razor Lake-AX, but a release is expected to occur in late 2027 or early 2028.

Benchmark leak points to massive Zen 6 performance gains

An engineering sample of AMD's upcoming 10-core Medusa Point mobile processor has surfaced on Geekbench, achieving its highest benchmark scores to date. The chip reached 3,329 points in the single-core test and 16,555 points in the multi-core test, marking a notable performance jump over previous-gen chips.

The processor appeared on Geekbench (via Tom's Hardware) on an AMD Plum-MDS1 platform under the engineering sample identifier 100-000001713-33_N. Geekbench logs reveal a configuration with 10 cores and 20 threads, divided into two clusters of 4 and 6 cores. Telemetry data indicate that the chip reached a peak frequency of 5.37GHz during testing. The listing also details 10MB of L2 cache and 32MB of L3 cache.

This latest run outperforms a previous submission by 5% on single-core and 10% on multi-core. When compared with current retail models, this Zen 6 chip delivers a significant performance boost. It scores roughly 28% higher in single-core workloads and 24% higher in multi-core workloads than the 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which averages 2,605 and 13,397 points, respectively.

While final clock speeds and power limits remain unconfirmed, the Medusa Point lineup is expected to form the foundation of AMD's upcoming mobile Ryzen 500 series.

Intel reportedly preparing high-cache CPUs to combat Ryzen X3D

Intel is reportedly preparing two mid-range 22-core “Nova Lake-S” desktop processors, each with a massive 108MB of “bLLC” cache to boost gaming performance. These upcoming models are claimed to be part of the Core Ultra 5 400S processor family.

According to Jaykhin (via VideoCardz), both configurations use a single compute die design for mid-range gaming systems. The 22-core architecture features 6 “Coyote Cove” performance cores, 12 “Arctic Wolf” efficiency cores, and 4 low-power efficiency (LPE) cores. Intel aims to combine updated core microarchitectures with its new Last Level Cache layer to mitigate latency-sensitive workloads like gaming, mimicking AMD's Ryzen X3D.

The report indicates power limits and multiplier support separate the two models, meaning they aren't completely identical. One variant lands as an unlocked 125W TDP processor under the overclockable “K” series banner, while the second model operates with a locked 65W base TDP.

Broader details regarding the supporting Z9x0 desktop platform reveal that the new LGA-1954 socket can accommodate up to 52 cores. Early rumours suggest that high-end dual-tile configurations could draw up to 474W in PL2 mode.

Arc G3-powered MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ handheld goes up for pre-order

MSI’s new Claw 8 EX AI+ handheld gaming system is now available to pre‑order in the UK, following its debut at Computex earlier this month. The updated model is powered by Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme processor, offering improved performance and efficiency compared to the original Claw.

The Claw 8 EX AI+ is built around an 8‑inch Full HD+ touchscreen with up to 120Hz refresh rate. MSI has redesigned the chassis with larger ergonomic grips, Hall Effect triggers and thumbsticks, refined bumpers and a more responsive D‑pad to improve comfort and precision during longer sessions. The company has also added a new linear haptic motor for faster, more detailed feedback.

Intel’s latest Arc architecture powers the handheld, with support for XeSS 3 upscaling and Multi‑Frame Generation to boost frame rates in supported games. Efficiency gains from the new chip should also deliver decent battery life improvements compared to previous models.

The handheld ships in a new Void Purple finish and includes MSI’s updated software suite, featuring Xbox Mode, redesigned quick settings and streamlined performance controls.

Alongside the standalone device, MSI is offering a Claw 8 EX AI+ Launch Pack Bundle in the UK, which includes a carry case, keychain, grip caps and a tempered glass screen protector. Pre‑orders are now live at Scan, with the handheld priced at £1,399.99 or £1,449.98 for the bundle. Additional UK retail availability will be confirmed at a later date.

KitGuru Says: It will be interesting to see how well these perform once stock lands. So far, Ryzen Z1 and Z2-based handhelds have been the most popular, but Intel's new Arc G3 processors have an opportunity to shake things up.

Intel reportedly planning new processors with integrated Nvidia GPUs

Intel is reportedly planning a new line of processors featuring integrated graphics designed by Nvidia. According to a recent report, the company aims to introduce these chips in early 2028.

Erdi Özüağ's report (via VideoCardz) doesn't include any specific details on what the final processor will look like. Only that these CPUs are targeting a Q1 2028 release, with CES 2028 likely to be the stage for their introduction.

There are a few ways Intel could build this kind of chip today, as the company already crafts tile-based disaggregated processors. It's possible this hardware could end up as a derivative of Panther Lake or Nova Lake, combining Intel's Compute and SoC tiles with a custom Nvidia GPU tile. Unlike Intel's home-grown graphics, the Nvidia tile could also pack its own display engines and media accelerators.

In the same post, Erdi also notes that Apple is currently in advanced consultations with Intel. The tech giant is reportedly looking at using the Intel 18A foundry node to manufacture some of its upcoming Apple Silicon products.

KitGuru says: An Intel processor powered by Nvidia graphics would have sounded wild a decade ago, but given recent events (such as their partnership announced in 2025), it's entirely possible.

AMD announces Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 series processors for AI platforms

AMD has introduced the Ryzen AI Max 400 series of processors for local AI development platforms. Serving as an architecture refresh to the previous Ryzen AI Max (PRO) 300 series Strix Halo hardware, the new silicon combines Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, a dedicated NPU, and AMD PRO enterprise management features. Consumer-targeted iterations of these processors are scheduled to debut later this year.

The primary update centres on the integrated memory controllers, which have been modified to support up to 192GB of LPDDR5X unified memory via a 4-channel, 256-bit interface. Users can manually partition this pool to allocate up to 160GB directly to the integrated graphics subsystem, providing the capacity needed to run LLMs with more than 300 billion parameters. Performance modifications include a maximum GPU boost frequency increase to 3.00GHz, a maximum CPU boost clock increase to 5.20GHz, and a 10% performance uplift for the built-in NPU to reach 55 TOPS.

The product stack consists of three distinct processor designs. The top-tier Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 features 16 cores and 32 threads, boosting up to 5.20GHz, a fully enabled 40-compute-unit iGPU (Radeon 8065S), 80MB of cache, and a 55 TOPS NPU. The mid-range Ryzen AI Max PRO 490 scales back to a 12-core, 24-thread configuration, clocking up to 5.00GHz, paired with a 32-compute-unit iGPU (Radeon 8050S), 76MB of cache, and a 50 TOPS NPU. The entry-level Ryzen AI Max PRO 485 maintains the 32-compute-unit iGPU (Radeon 8050S) and 50 TOPS NPU, but uses an 8-core, 16-thread CPU layout, boosting up to 5.00GHz and accompanied by 40MB of cache.
