Monster Fantasy Wants Different Player Types Living Together, As Producer Rejects the Compare-and-Compete Trap of Same-Type Socializing

10 July 2026 at 17:00

Four characters observing a landscape with a dragon flying in the sky, overlaid with the title 'Monster Fantasy'.

Around three weeks ago, Chinese indie developer Jotoyo unveiled Monster Fantasy, an interesting game that blends elements from Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley, among others. The game is targeting a simultaneous PC and console release (though it remains to be seen whether it can pull it off) and will soon seek funding on Kickstarter, though the crowdfunding campaign has been delayed from July 15 to after the first public playtest, scheduled for September via Steam. Cyberpunk TCG is officially the “Most Funded Game in Crowdfunding History”

6 April 2026 at 11:00

Over the years, CD Projekt have had a relatively close relationship with Kickstarter, having successfully released various Witcher and Cyberpunk-related projects through the crowdfunding platform. Even so, their latest efforts have proven to be record-breaking, with the recently-launched Cyberpunk TCG becoming the “Most Funded Game in Crowdfunding History.”

With a total of £12.7 million pledged (and counting) across nearly 25 thousand backers, The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is officially the most-funded game in Kickstarter history (and the biggest tabletop game in crowdfunding history).

Being created by WeirdCo (and licensed by CDPR), the ever-growing project is managing to hit multiple fronts, said to be “designed for trading card players, avid collectors, and fans of the Cyberpunk franchise alike.”

Cyberpunk TCG Crowdfunding

As with many of CDPR’s previous Kickstarter projects, the Cyberpunk TCG appears to be well thought out and of a high quality. Of course, we will have to wait and see how the game actually performs when it is shipped out (estimated to be December 2026), but regardless, the Cyberpunk TCG is already a certified success financially.

Full details on the project, its various tiers and rewards can be found HERE.

Last week, I received an invite to check out Wyldheart, a soon-to-be-announced co-op fantasy action RPG in development by Wayfinder Studios. The team is small and independent, but also filled with industry veterans, like co-founders Dennis Brännvall (formerly Creative Director of Star Wars Battlefront II) and Fia Tjernberg (formerly Studio Director of Technical Design at EA DICE). In this article: First Impressions: Dungeons, Hexes, and a Legendary Mace I was introduced to Wyldheart by Brännvall himself, then played a brief multiplayer session with him and the studio's Marketing Director, Erin Bower, and finally asked Brännvall several questions to learn even […]
