Crate Entertainment Opens Up on Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn’s Massive Scope, Long Development, and What Comes Next
Last week, independent developer Crate Entertainment finally set a concrete launch date for Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn (the third and final expansion for the hack-and-slash action RPG): July 23 for PC via Steam, GOG, and Humble Store. The previous expansion, Forgotten Gods, was released in March 2019. In the meantime, the small studio released a fairly successful city builder, Farthest Frontier, and began working on new projects. Even so, they went back to Grim Dawn, a game that sold over 10 million units between the base game and the expansions. In an email interview with Crate Entertainment Production Director […]

EVE Online’s Studio Walks Away From Pearl Abyss After Record $70M Year, Reborn as Fenris Creations With Google DeepMind Backing
Following the sale of CCP Games from Pearl Abyss for $120 million in cash and non-cash elements, the Icelandic studio known mainly for the MMORPG EVE Online announced that it is rebranding and will be called Fenris Creations henceforth. The split was the result of a joint strategic review between the two parties, who mutually concluded that independent ownership was the better fit, citing "broader differences in operating context, current strategic focus, and long-term priorities". The new ownership group comprises Fenris Creations' senior management and long-term investors, including Omega Ventures co-founder Birgir Már Ragnarsson, who takes over as Board Chairman. Leak points to new first-party only tier for Xbox Game Pass
The Xbox Game Pass tier lineup might be about to change once again. Following the recent appointment of Asha Sharma as the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming, reports are surfacing that a budget-friendly, first-party-focused Game Pass tier is currently being planned.
According to findings shared by Better xCloud, the Triton tier is limited to titles from Xbox Game Studios, effectively cutting out the licensing overhead associated with third-party titles. Initial findings show a curated list of roughly 15 games attached to the “Triton” identifier, including heavyweights such as Gears 5, Halo 5: Guardians, Fallout 4, and Dishonored 2. This strategy would allow Microsoft to leverage its massive library of acquired IP from Bethesda and Activision Blizzard to create a lower-cost entry point for consumers who have been deterred by the recent subscription price hikes.

The discovery of ‘Triton' also arrives during a time where rumours around a new ad-supported tier of Game Pass are continuing to gain momentum. Recently, it has also been claimed that Microsoft is in talks with other media giants, like Netflix, to potentially create new subscription service bundles.

KitGuru says: The question is, how long would it take for newly released first-party games to join this Game Pass tier? Right now, if you want to play games like Fable, Forza Horizon 6 or Call of Duty on day-one, you still need to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate.
