Nacon reportedly plan to sell off studio ‘Spiders’ following insolvency announcement

30 March 2026 at 14:00

Nacon is perhaps the biggest video game publisher in France outside of Ubisoft, with the company responsible for many well-liked titles including Hell is Us; Greedfall; RoboCop: Rogue City and many more. Despite this, the publisher is currently struggling, announcing earlier this year that they had filed for insolvency. In the wake of this, it appears as though at least one of Nacon’s studios might be saved, with Spiders – the team behind Greedfall and Steelrising – currently undergoing a bidding process.

Following the recent announcement that 4 of Nacon’s subsidiaries have filed for insolvency, French publication Origami revealed that one of the four (Spiders) could find a new home under a different publisher, claiming:

[Translated] “French publisher Nacon is looking to sell Spiders, a Paris-based studio it acquired in 2019,” adding that “Yesterday, a few days after multiple requests for judicial reorganization within the group, the parent company notified Spiders employees that a bidding process was imminent.”

Spiders Greedfall

Offering some additional context, they continued: “Spiders is, however, indeed working on a new pre-production project, which could be leveraged in the event of a potential sale, but the internal feeling is that Nacon has mostly kept people busy while the divorce was being finalized.”

As mentioned, of Nacon’s many subsidiaries, Spiders is perhaps the most well known, with the AA studio having released a number of ambitious titles in its time, including-but-not-limited-to Greedfall; Steelrising; The Technomancer and more.

Whether Spiders will be able to find a new parent company to operate under, we will have to wait and see; but here’s to hoping that all of Nacon’s studios are able to find new homes in the wake of these unfortunate circumstances.

Nacon is Looking to Sell Greedfall Developer Spiders and Motion Capture Studio Nacon Tech After Filing for Insolvency

27 March 2026 at 14:30

The image shows the 'SPIDERS' logo with stylized typography.

French publisher Nacon is looking to sell two of its subsidiary studios, Spiders, the team behind Greedfall and Steelrising, and motion capture studio Nacon Tech, according to a new report from Origami. The news comes just days after Spiders, along with other Nacon studios Cyanide and Kylotonn, were placed under receivership, and all three, along with Nacon Tech, filed for insolvency. All of this is the result of what happened at the end of February 2025, when Nacon itself filed for insolvency, after its majority shareholder, Bigben Interactive, saw its refinancing agreement it had reached in November 2025 fall through […]

Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish Revealed at Xbox Partner Preview Following Bizarre Leak

26 March 2026 at 17:31

A character from 'Hunter: The Reckoning - Deathwish' stands with a weapon between a vampire and a werewolf against a city skyline.

Earlier this month, before we even knew that there would be an Xbox Partner Preview event today, a new Hunter: The Reckoning game seemed to leak in a truly bizarre way. An update pushed to RoboCop: Rogue City on Steam briefly changed the game players had in their library from RoboCop to what was clearly an early build for an in-development project called Hunter: The Reckoning. It didn't seem like anything more than extremely odd at the time. It's rare, if not unheard of, that a developer pushes an update for one game that essentially replaces it with another. There […]

Nacon announces that 4 of its subsidiaries have filed for insolvency

24 March 2026 at 10:15

Nacon is perhaps the biggest video game publisher in France outside of Ubisoft, with the company responsible for many well-liked titles including Hell is Us; Greedfall; RoboCop: Rogue City and many more. In a surprise announcement, the publisher/holding company has now confirmed that four of its subsidiaries have filed for insolvency – including the studio behind the aforementioned Greedfall.

Publishing a press release to make the announcement, Nacon officially confirmed that “four of its subsidiaries, namely the video game development studios Spiders, Kylotonn, Cyanide, and the motion capture company Nacon Tech, have today filed for insolvency with the Lille Métropole Commercial Court and requested the opening of judicial reorganisation proceedings in their favour.”

As explained by the press release itself, judicial reorganisation proceedings are “collective proceedings under French law pursuant to which liabilities arising prior to the opening judgment are frozen for the duration of the observation period, which may last up to 18 months. During this period, the debtor may propose a continuation plan providing for the restructuring of its debt with a view to ensuring the recovery of its business.”

Nacon Insolvency

This follows on from last month’s report which revealed that Nacon as a whole was filing for insolvency, suggesting that things haven’t been going too well so far.

As mentioned, while far from the most prestigious publisher, Nacon has had a solid track record in recent years, with some of its more modern successes including Hell Is Us; the ‘Hunting Simulator’ series; STYX; Test Drive Unlimited; RoboCop: Rogue City and Greedfall. Hopefully the publisher is able to find a solution which keeps as much of the talent across these studios as possible in employment.

Nacon’s Cyanide, Spiders, and Kylotonn Studios Have Reportedly Paused Payments and Placed Under Receivership Amidst Insolvency Filing

23 March 2026 at 17:49

It seemed like everything was smooth sailing for French publisher Nacon just a few short weeks ago. On February 23, the studio revealed its annual Nacon Connect showcase would return with news and reveals for what the publisher had lined up for the year. Two days later, the studio's outlook for 2026 looked very different, as it filed for insolvency after its parent company, Bigben Interactive, ran into a financial crisis that left it, and Nacon, short on options. While the publisher has since released statements meant to reassure players that it will ensure its current lineup of games for […]

“Only Your Tools and Your Mind Will Save You” — Big Bad Wolf on Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss and Its Six Endings

11 March 2026 at 17:00

A diver in a spacesuit with the number '06' on the chest struggles underwater while a giant tentacle and a monstrous face with glowing eyes loom behind, beneath the title 'CTHULHU: The Cosmic Abyss'.

French developer Big Bad Wolf (The Council, Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong) returns to the market next month with Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, a first-person narrative-driven adventure game based on H.P. Lovecraft's beloved cosmic horror mythos. Unlike most Cthulhu stories, though, this one is set in the future, rather than the past. In 2053, with Earth's surface resources almost fully depleted, corporations begin scouring the deepest oceans, utterly unaware of the ancient horror they are about to awaken. Noah, the main character, is an agent of Ancile, a secret division of Interpol that specialises in occult affairs. He is tasked […]

Nacon delays Connect showcase amid financial restructuring

3 March 2026 at 17:00

Nacon has confirmed that its upcoming digital showcase, Nacon Connect, has been postponed to May 2026. This decision follows a recent insolvency filing by the publisher after its parent company, Bigben Interactive, was unable to meet a partial loan repayment.

In a statement addressed to fans, the Nacon team acknowledged the “difficult moment” for the company but emphasised that the situation is a hurdle rather than a conclusion. The delay is intended to allow the team to stabilise their financial position and focus on the final polish of their current projects.

Despite the corporate restructuring, Nacon maintains that its announced release schedule remains on track. The most immediate title on the horizon is GreedFall: The Dying World, which is still slated for launch on March 12th. The publisher currently has several high-profile games in active development across PC and consoles, including the survival-focused Terminator Survivors, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, Dragonkin: The Banished, and Hunting Simulator 3. Other projects, such as Edge of Memories and The Mound Omen of Cthulhu, are also progressing as planned while the company awaits a ruling from a French court on its debt restructuring request.

Besides games, the May broadcast is expected to provide deeper looks at Nacon's new gaming accessories and peripherals.

KitGuru says: It's rare to see a publisher be this transparent about insolvency, but Nacon's honesty might buy them some much-needed goodwill from the community. With GreedFall: The Dying World launching in just a few days, the stakes are incredibly high, as a successful launch there could provide the momentum needed to carry them through.

Nacon reportedly files for insolvency ahead of upcoming showcase

25 February 2026 at 15:00

Earlier this week, Nacon announced plans for its next games showcase. Now just days later, it appears that the publisher and accessories maker is filing for insolvency.

As spotted by VGC, Nacon has filed for insolvency due to a failed payment on a bond loan. The situation will allow Nacon to remain in business while renegotiating its debt repayments.

Nacon has had a pretty good couple of years for game releases thanks to the likes of RoboCop: Rogue City, Styx: Blades of Greed and Test Drive Unlimited. At an upcoming showcase, Nacon will also be spotlighting upcoming games like Edge of Memories, The Mound and Cthulu: The Cosmic Abyss.

Nacon is also publishing an upcoming Terminator game, although that game recently underwent a major pivot, turning from a co-op multiplayer game to a single-player adventure.
