Stupid Never Dies Takes On Square Enix On October 21, As It Lands Close To Final Fantasy Resonance

30 July 2026 at 00:30

A vibrant and chaotic illustration from the game 'Stupid Never Dies' featuring a dynamic character with green eyes and various fantastical creatures against a multicolored background.

By setting Grand Theft Auto VI for a November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive forced every publisher to move their games as far as possible from this date, resulting in some of the most game-packed September and October of recent memory. Previously planned for a generic late 2026 release, GPTRACK50's Stupid Never Dies now joins a packed October release schedule, launching on the same day as Square Enix's Final Fantasy Resonance and close to other games with which it will vie for gamers' attention and money. The independent studio founded by […]

Square Enix Pushes The Limits Of HD-2D With Final Fantasy Resonance, But Its Music Is No Slouch Either

16 July 2026 at 09:27

Two pixelated characters in Final Fantasy Revelation are engaged in a battle in front of a grand stone door and large columns, set in a dramatic scene with beams of light creating a fantasy atmosphere.

Final Fantasy Resonance was among the best received games revealed during last month's Summer Game Fest showcases, and it's easy to understand why JRPG fans are fully embracing the series' return to turn-based combat after the series took a more action-oriented direction with Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy XVI and the Final Fantasy VII Remake series. However, it's not just the return to turn-based combat that is set to make the game launching this October on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch consoles one to remember, as a new trailer shared today does an excellent job showing […]

Final Fantasy Resonance continues to impress with new trailer

16 July 2026 at 16:09

While I've never been a huge fan of pixel-based graphics, Square Enix changed that for me when it launched HD-2D with Octopath Traveler. Now, Square Enix is finally bringing its HD-2D engine to Final Fantasy, giving us a true classic-style RPG in the form of Final Fantasy Resonance.

In a new trailer for the game released this week, we get a closer look at what to expect, showing off turn-based combat, key characters and new mechanics:

Key party members for Final Fantasy Resonance include Rain, Lasswell, Lid and Nichol. The story begins with Rain investigating a disturbance at the Earth Shrine, leading to the shattering of the Earth Crystal and a wider conflict that threatens the remaining crystals across Lapis.

Final Fantasy Resonance is a full single‑player RPG with no gacha mechanics or microtransactions, reimagining Brave Exvius’s opening arc with new cinematics and fully voiced characters. The game features traditional turn‑based combat enhanced with modern presentation, including dynamic camera work and HD‑2D environments. Classic Final Fantasy elements return as well, such as espers, airships, chocobos and cactars — complete with their iconic 1000 Needles attack.

Final Fantasy Resonance is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Switch 2 and PC on the 22nd of October.

KitGuru Says: I have played every single HD-2D game to date. These classic style games aren't necessarily for everyone, but if you've been craving a return to turn-based Final Fantasy, this will be the game to pick up.

Square Enix Caves to Fan Demand With Final Fantasy Resonance, a Turn-Based HD-2D Throwback Landing October 22

9 June 2026 at 16:00

A character in Final Fantasy Resonance approaches a large, glowing purple crystal in a temple setting with a knight standing on a platform.

The Final Fantasy series is back in full swing for the upcoming month, as Square Enix had another surprise waiting in the wings besides Final Fantasy VII Revelation, revealing it during today's Nintendo Direct. This surprise is Final Fantasy Resonance, the first HD-2D entry in the series, bringing back the turn-based combat fans have been demanding for years on October 22 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The new entry in the series is poised to be an evolution of the pixel art entries in the series of the 90s, such as Final Fantasy VI, as Square Enix describes the game as […]

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is releasing soon

30 April 2026 at 14:30

It looks like Asobo Studio will have more to share about Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy soon. The third game in the Plague Tale series was announced back in June 2025, but the release now appears to be just around the corner.

In a developer blog posted this week, Asobo said that the release for this game is “almost here”, indicating that the game will be with us in the next few months.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel, set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem, which launched back in 2022. The game follows Sophia, who was first introduced in Requiem, telling the story of her past.

Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur Island, where she faces deadly trials and solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her.

KitGuru Says: If the release is almost here, then a proper release date announcement, PC system requirements and other details should be with us soon.
