Liquid Swords’ Samson Arrives on Consoles in Fall 2026, Flurry of Updates With Bug/Performance Fixes Coming in the Meantime

20 April 2026 at 14:58

A scene from the video game 'SAMSON' shows an industrial cityscape, a character with long hair, a car chase, and a fight.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story is the debut game from developer Liquid Swords, the studio founded by Christofer Sundberg, the founder of Avalanche Studios and one of the creators of the Just Cause series. Now, after a less-than-ideal launch earlier this month, Sundberg and the team are committed to making Samson work, with a flurry of bug and technical fixes on the way, and a console release scheduled for its 2026 roadmap. Samson was meant to be a smaller-scaled, double-A sized game, according to Liquid Swords, but even within that scope, the game still launched with a lot of technical issues. […]

Another batch of games has joined the library of games playable through NVIDIA's cloud streaming service, GeForce NOW, headlined by two new releases, while an old release finally becomes RTX 5080-ready, just in time for its latest major DLC expansion release. Starting with the new games entering GeForce NOW this week, there are four titles in total joining the library. The first two brand-new releases are Samson: A Tyndalston Story, the debut game from independent developer Liquid Swords, and the second new release is Morbid Metal, a hack-and-slash rougelike from developer Screen Juice, published by Ubisoft. Morbid Metal is launching […]

Liquid Swords Calls Samson’s Game-Breaking Bugs “Unacceptable,” Patch Arriving on Friday to Fix Several Major Issues

8 April 2026 at 20:47

Two characters in the game Samson: A Tyndalston Story appear to be in a tense confrontation in a gritty urban alley.

Liquid Swords, the studio founded by Avalanche Studio co-founder Christofer Sundberg released its debut game today in Samson: A Tyndalston Story. You can check out my review of it to see what I thought, but the main thing to know is that it arrived with scores and scores of bugs, some of them game-breaking and all of them annoying. Thankfully, the studio seems to find them as "unacceptable" as the rest of us and will be releasing a patch to fix several issues on Friday, April 10, 2026. In a post on the game's Steam page, Sundberg addressed the game's […]

Samson Dev: DLSS 5 Needs Full Pipeline Integration & Broad Hardware Support to Be Viable

8 April 2026 at 18:30

A side-by-side NVIDIA DLSS 5 comparison of a character in 'Resident Evil Requiem' with 'DLSS 5 Off' on the left and 'DLSS 5 On' on the right, showing enhanced visual clarity and detail.

Following the controversial reveal of NVIDIA DLSS 5 at GTC 2026, we have heard all sorts of reactions from both sides of the argument. However, in most cases, they were heavily skewed towards one side, either embracing or condemning the technology. Nobody really delved too much into what it would really take to make it viable from a game developer's standpoint. We've continued to reach out to various studios to gather their perspectives on this oft-neglected part of the DLSS 5 discourse. Today, on the release date of their debut game (Samson: A Tyndalston Story, of which you can read […]

Samson: A Tyndalston Story Review – Not Bad, Not Good

8 April 2026 at 13:00

A scene from the video game 'SAMSON' shows an industrial cityscape, a character with long hair, a car chase, and a fight.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story is the debut game from independent developer Liquid Swords, and it has a lot going for it. It's got a team of learned developers behind it, led by Christofer Sundberg, the founder of Avalanche Studios and creator of the Just Cause series, and it's not trying to bite off more than it can chew. Which is to say, this is a double-A-sized game that isn't trying to be some big, Grand Theft Auto-sized game despite the numerous comparisons to GTA that have been made about the game. Liquid Swords and Sundberg have been adamant about how […]

“I’ve Never Experienced Such a Desperate, Cowardly, Confused State of the Business” Says Just Cause Creator

26 February 2026 at 19:40

A car chase scene from the game Samson: A Tyndalston Story shows a dark sports car causing a van to flip over on a city street, with sparks

It's pretty safe to say that the video game industry has been in a weird place for several years now, but for Christofer Sundberg, who has been at this for a long time, the state of the video game industry is in an unprecedentedly poor place. Founder of Avalanche Studios and creator of Just Cause, Sundberg is getting ready to release his next major game with his new studio he founded in 2020, Liquid Swords, which'll release Samson: A Tyndalston Story this coming April 8, 2026. Ahead of Sundberg and Liquid Swords showing off their new title and announcing its […]

“You’re in for a Ride”: Samson: A Tyndalston Story Arrives on PC in April 2026

26 February 2026 at 19:30

Two cars speeding across a steel bridge with license plates 'LDK 993' and 'V38 5M6' visible.

Samson: A Tyndalston Story, the debut project from Liquid Swords, the team founded by Avalanche Studios (that's the Just Cause and Mad Max people, not the Hogwarts Legacy studio Avalanche Software) founder, Christofer Sundberg, finally has a release date. It'll arrive on PC first on April 8, 2026. After being founded in 2020, the studio is now only weeks away from releasing its debut title, six years later. The game stars Samson McCray, a classic tough guy and driver who returns to his home town of Tyndalston with a heavy debt to pay on his shoulders. He'll have to take […]

Samson: A Tyndalston Story Interview – Former Mad Max and Just Cause Devs Sink Into New AA Brawler That’s “Not GTA”

26 February 2026 at 19:28

A character in 'Samson: A Tyndalston Story' is engaged in a combat scene inside a pharmacy.

Back in 2020, Christofer Sundberg, founder of Avalanche Studios, revealed what he would be doing with the next chapter of his career after selling Avalanche with the announcement of Liquid Swords. Six years later, the studio is weeks away from its debut game, Samson: A Tyndalston Story. It's not too dissimilar to the kinds of games that Sundberg's Avalanche was known for. Like Just Cause and Mad Max, they both star a certain flavour of tough guy. The latter was also cited in a preview presentation I attended last week, with the emphasis on car combat in Samson connecting it […]

Samson: A Tyndalston Story Hands-On Preview – “Intensity Over Scale”

26 February 2026 at 19:27

A scene from the video game 'SAMSON' shows an industrial cityscape, a character with long hair, a car chase, and a fight.

All the way back in 2020, Christofer Sundberg, the founder of Avalanche Studios, established a new video game studio after taking some time off once he left Avalanche after it was acquired in 2018. That studio was (is) Liquid Swords, a new studio that, six years since its founding, is inching towards releasing its debut project: Samson: A Tyndalston Story. Last week, ahead of Liquid Swords announcing Samson's April 8, 2026, release date, I got to spend some time hearing from Sundberg and the development team about Samson before going hands-on with the game myself. I also got to ask […]
