The Blood of Dawnwalker is already hiring for its sequel

9 September 2026 at 08:45

The Blood of Dawnwalker appears to already be the next big thing in the RPG space, with the non-linear dark fantasy title from ex-CDPR devs at Rebel Wolves arriving to high praise and equally high sales. Less than a week on from the game’s official launch, Rebel Wolves are already hiring for its sequel.

Marking the debut title from new studio Rebel Wolves, The Blood of Dawnwalker has already made its presence well known; with the action-RPG being praised in particular for its narrative and writing while selling over 1 million copies in 48 hours.

Capitalising on the game’s success, The Blood of Dawnwalker’s narrative director Jakub Szamalek took to LinkedIn to announce that work is already underway on a sequel, posting:

“Hey writers! Me again. The Blood of Dawnwalker released to critical acclaim and sold over one million copies in the opening weekend. But! We're not resting on our laurels – no, siree! We're already thinking about (sic) comes next.”

Dawnwalker Sequel

Szamalek continued, “And so! Drum roll please! I'm looking for a Lead Writer to help me and the narrative team craft the next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga. We're looking for someone who, to put it bluntly, writes EXCEPTIONALLY well, has a track record of excellence and experience in team management.”

As mentioned, The Blood of Dawnwalker has been particularly praised for its writing and characters, and so it makes sense that Rebel Wolves would want to ensure that they have the right team at the helm for what will likely be a highly-anticipated sequel.

KitGuru says: What do you think of The Blood of Dawnwalker? Is it as compelling as many have claimed? What would you like to see them focus on with the sequel? Let us know down below.

Rebel Wolves debut RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker sells 1 million copies in 48 hours

7 September 2026 at 12:00

Rebel Wolves has confirmed that its debut RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, has sold over 1 million copies worldwide within its first 48 hours on sale.

Crossing the one‑million mark this quickly is a rare achievement for a brand‑new franchise, even with a simultaneous launch across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rebel Wolves was founded in 2022 by former Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and very quickly, a team of Witcher 3 veterans were able to put together this dense, high-quality RPG, without spending hundreds of millions of dollars, or taking 6+ years of development time.

Critic reception has been strong across the board. Over on OpenCritic, the game holds an 85 average rating based on more than 100 critic reviews. Meanwhile, the Metacritic score sits at 83 overall, drawn from around 60 published reviews.

Player sentiment is similarly positive. On Steam, The Blood of Dawnwalker currently holds a Very Positive rating based on more than 7,000 user reviews. The top‑rated reviews consistently highlight the game’s quest structure, emphasis on exploration and immersion, and its refusal to rely on heavy hand‑holding, qualities many players feel are missing from modern open‑world RPGs.

KitGuru Says: Hitting one million copies in just two days is a huge win for Rebel Wolves. With the first game being a quick success, hopefully the developers can now start planning for their next game.

Modders quickly remove Blood of Dawnwalker’s built-in time limits

4 September 2026 at 13:00

The Blood of Dawnwalker is out and while most are enjoying their time with it, not everyone is on board with the way time works in that game. Fortunately for those of us on PC, there is a mod that removes it entirely if you'd rather enjoy your playthrough without a doom timer ticking down.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, you are essentially given 30 in-game days to save your family and complete the main quest. However, most side quests, and even some powerful abilities, will eat up chunks of your time each day, widdling down the time you have left for completing the main quest. The idea behind this system is to force players to be more mindful in what quests they spend time on, and to encourage replayability, as it should be impossible to see everything in a single run.

However, some people prefer to do a completionist run, and don't necessarily enjoy the time-management aspect of the game. On PC, there is a fix for that, as a mod called “better story timer” is already available, allowing players to either adjust the in-game timer to offer more generous time limits, or remove the time limit entirely for the main quest.

The mod also includes the option to remove time costs from certain perks and skills in the game.

As there is no mod support for the game on consoles, those on Xbox and PlayStation will have to play by the game's rules.

KitGuru Says: The time management aspect is crucial to this game, so I'll be playing with it working as intended. Are many of you jumping into The Blood of Dawnwalker this weekend?

The Blood of Dawnwalker launches to strong reviews

2 September 2026 at 10:22

The Blood of Dawnwalker officially launches today and it will be coming out to strong praise from critics. The game is launching to a wave of high review scores, as early players point out its strong story, unique structure and combat.

Across OpenCritic, The Blood of Dawnwalker currently holds an 85 average critic rating, while on Metacritic it sits at 83 overall, based on around 60 published reviews. Early impressions point toward a strong, story‑driven RPG with a distinctive tone and plenty of ambition.

Critics have praised the game’s world‑building, characters and blend of horror‑tinged fantasy. IGN awarded the game a 9/10, calling it “an impressive, bloody cocktail of interesting ideas and well‑written characters”. PC Gamer scored it 83/100, describing it as a “resolutely miserable horror RPG” with strong concepts, even if not all of them fully land. Eurogamer gave it 4/5, highlighting its bold ideas and noting that the team’s CD Projekt Red heritage is clear throughout.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a unique RPG in that you aren’t supposed to experience everything in a single playthrough. Your character is on the clock, with a set amount of in‑game time to complete quests and save your family. Ignoring the main quest for too long, or choosing to spend too much time on side content, can lead to a painful ending, so players have to balance their time carefully in a way that few other RPGs demand.

KitGuru Says: The Blood of Dawnwalker is off to a strong start, with solid reviews across the board. Are you planning on picking this game up this week?

The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch with a 60FPS mode after all

24 August 2026 at 15:00

A few days on from revealing the updated PC system requirements for The Blood of Dawnwalker, the team at Rebel Wolves has now also announced a major change for the launch-day version of the game on consoles. At first, the game was going to launch without a true ‘Performance' mode option on PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, after seeing feedback, the team made the decision to move up its testing plans for 60FPS.

Originally, The Blood of Dawnwalker was going to launch with two quality modes on console, one that targets 30FPS with the best possible visual settings, and another that targets 40FPS instead, with slightly lower visual settings, such as more aggressive dynamic resolution. However, fans quickly made it known that they wanted a 60FPS option, so Rebel Wolves has swiftly changed its plans.

The studio confirmed that it was already planning a 60FPS performance mode for the game but were not confident that they would be able to fully test it and implement it in time for launch in early September. Due to fan feedback, they decided to move the testing forward, and now, 60FPS will be an option on PS5 / Xbox Series X consoles, after installing the game's day-one patch.

The Blood of Dawnwalker gets updated PC system requirements

19 August 2026 at 15:29

Rebel Wolves has released updated PC system requirements for The Blood of Dawnwalker ahead of its launch next month. The new specs are lower than previously announced, but the studio still recommends using upscaling across all tiers, leaving some uncertainty over how demanding the game will be without it.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a new RPG from former Witcher 3 developers, set in 14th‑century Europe as the Black Death ravages the land and vampires rise from the shadows. You play as Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, torn between humanity and cursed power as you race to save your family. The game features dual day‑night gameplay loops, branching choices, handcrafted open‑world exploration and a narrative shaped by every action, or inaction, as time relentlessly pushes the story forward.

Below are the full PC system requirements for the game (all configurations list upscaling set to Balanced):

1080p @ 30 fps (Low preset)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 11400F / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • RAM: 16GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 / AMD RX 580
  • VRAM: 6GB or more
  • Storage: 60GB SSD

  • Storage: 60GB SSD
  • OS: Windows 10 or later, DirectX 12

The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch on the 2nd of September for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

KitGuru Says: The Blood of Dawnwalker is one of my most anticipated games of the year. It has been a long time since we've had a good vampire-focused RPG, so hopefully this one sticks the landing. With the game being made by key members of The Witcher 3 team, I'm pretty confident that it will.

The Blood of Dawnwalker PC requirements lowered ahead of September launch

24 June 2026 at 10:00

Rebel Wolves has announced an update lowering the PC system requirements for its debut RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. The adjustments scale down both the minimum and recommended hardware specifications needed to run the upcoming game at 1080p resolution.

The updated minimum configuration shared by the developer on X now requires an Intel i5-11400F or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X CPU, down from the original requirement of an Intel i7-8700K or Ryzen 7 3700X. Graphics hardware requirements dropped from an Nvidia RTX 3050 or GTX 1070 down to a GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580.

Targeting 60FPS at 1080p on the recommended tier now requires an Intel i7-11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X CPU, changing from the previously stated Intel i5-13600 or Ryzen 9 7900X. Recommended graphics cards have been reduced to an RTX 4060 or a Radeon RX 7600 XT, replacing the previous requirement of an RTX 5060 or an RX 6800 XT. Rebel Wolves noted that updated requirements for alternative configurations will be shared later.

According to the developer, we can expect more detailed system requirements and presets at a later date, after the final optimisation processes are complete.

KitGuru says: It seems the optimisation efforts were worth it, given the updated system specs. Now many more fans will be able to pick up the new game without feat of it not running.

The Blood of Dawnwalker gets release date and PC system requirements

29 April 2026 at 15:00

Just as promised, this week the team at Rebel Wolves revealed more about their new big RPG, Blood of Dawnwalker. The studio, made up of former Witcher developers, will be launching its first big game this Autumn, putting it in direct competition with the Fable reboot.

Blood of Dawnwalker is set to launch on September 4th. The game's director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, told Eurogamer that he is “really confident” in the project.

The game will put players in the shoes of a half-human half-vampire hybrid, on a mission to rescue their family from other vampires within a set 30-game timespan. Players will have to make tough decisions on the fly and beat the in-game clock, offering numerous outcome opportunities for players to explore upon replays.

The game will be releasing for PC and current-gen consoles. While the game is still some ways off from release, the PC system requirements have been outlined:

With its September release date for PC, PS5 and Xbox, the game will be in close contact to Playground Games' long-awaited Fable reboot, which is also scheduled to launch between August and September.
