Stalker 2 is getting its first expansion this Summer

27 March 2026 at 12:30

STALKER 2 has been out for almost a year and a half now and during that time, GSC Game World has issued a lot of major updates to the game at no extra cost. Now, fans have new adventures to look forward to, with the first major expansion, titled β€˜Cost of Hope', coming out later this year.Β

Stalker 2: Cost of Hope will be arriving in Summer 2026, assuming there are no delays. The new expansion was revealed as part of the Xbox Partner Preview showcase earlier this week with a full new trailer, which you can see below:

Once a player installs the new DLC and loads up their save, they will get a new signal on the PDA that will trigger new storyline events as the main game unfolds. The Cost of Hope expansion is intended to be played alongside the main game, so those who have already beat Stalker 2 may want to consider spinning up a new save file and re-experiencing the game again.

As part of the expansion, players will get two new areas on the map to explore, including the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the Iron Forest. Each of these zones has its own hub area, along with new quests and activities, as well as new loot items that you won't find elsewhere on the map.

Better yet, GSC Game World has also confirmed that a second story expansion is also on the way, although details on that won't be revealed until a later date. Presumably, we will hear more about that DLC in 2027.

During the March 2026 Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Ukrainian developer GSC Game World announced STALKER 2: Cost of Hope, the first story expansion for the open world first-person shooter game. Xbox Games Showcase coming later this week

23 March 2026 at 14:30

Microsoft had its first Xbox showcase of the year back in January, giving us new looks at upcoming games like Fable and Forza Horizon 6. Now, the next showcase has been pencilled in, and it is happening later this week.Β

Notably, this next Xbox games showcase will be the first under Microsoft's new head of Xbox, Asha Sharma, who took over following Phil Spencer's retirement last month. However, this showcase will be a β€˜partner preview', showcasing new games and updates to previously released titles from third-party studios, so don't expect any major exclusive game announcements.

The Xbox Partner Preview will take place on March 26th at 5PM UK time. Some titles already confirmed to appear include STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Stranger Then Heaven and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.

Microsoft also promises β€œnew reveals, world premieres and Xbox Game Pass announcements” as part of the stream.
