Nintendo will announce a new Star Fox game this month, leaker claims

8 April 2026 at 13:30

Towards the end of March, it was claimed that Nintendo has a secret new Star Fox game in development, coinciding with the character's appearance in the new Super Mario Galaxy movie. Now, the same leaker claims that the game will be announced later this month.Β

Nate the Hate has had a decent track record for leaks over the past few years. They were the first to talk about Oblivion Remastered and its shadow-drop release last year, and previously leaked details about Nintendo's Partner Showcase in early March.

Now, they are claiming that the new Star Fox game will be announced by Nintendo later this month. Apparently, the announcement will come via the Nintendo Today app, which Nintendo has been increasingly using to announce both new games, alongside other products like accessories and game content updates.

The last Star Fox game to come out was Star Fox Zero for the Wii U, all the way back in 2016, so this new game has likely been in the making for quite some time. Aside from a new Star Fox game, it is also reported that Nintendo will be releasing a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time as one of its big holiday season titles for 2026.

Insider offers a ton of updates on upcoming Nintendo plans

30 March 2026 at 11:15

Nintendo’s strategy for the Switch 2 has been somewhat different to that of the OG Switch, with the console maker seemingly taking a slower-paced approach to its game announcements / releases. As the Switch 2 nears its 2nd year on the market, known insiders have offered a ton of details on what to expect from Nintendo over the next year-or-so – including claims that FromSoftware’s much-anticipated Duskbloods is scheduled to arrive in 2026.

As reported by known industry insider NateDrake via their NateTheHate podcast, Nintendo appears to be set to have a relatively slow 2026, with the leaker claiming that the next general Nintendo Direct won’t be happening until June – 9 months on from the previous mainline Direct showcase.

That said, the next showcase could offer quite a few exciting announcements, with Nate teasing a number of in-development projects, including:

  • The return of Star Fox as a Switch 2 exclusive in 2026
  • Splatoon Raiders; Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave and Rhythm Heaven Groove arriving around Summer
  • Switch 2 Editions of Pikmin 4 and (potentially) Xenoblade Chronicles 2 planned for 2026
  • FromSoftware’s Duskbloods coming β€œlater” in 2026
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launching in the second half of this year (though the scope of the project is unknown)
  • A new 3D Mario title coming some time in 2027

Nintendo 2026

Of course, all of these announcements are subject to change, and so we will have to wait until the next general Direct to learn more officially. That said, while the claim that a new 3D Mario not coming until some time next year is disappointing to see, the concept of a remake (or a re-remake) for Ocarina of Time is intriguing.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Nintendo’s rumoured plans for 2026? Would you be pleased assuming the above turned out to be true? What would you want from a Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time? Let us know down below.

Nintendo Switch 2 Super Mario 3D Game Rumored To Launch in 2027 After A Summer Packed With First-Party Games, Including a New Star Fox

27 March 2026 at 14:59

A collage of Nintendo video game characters including Mario in 'Super Mario Odyssey,' Inklings from 'Splatoon 3,' Fox McCloud from 'Star Fox,' a character from 'Fire Emblem Engage,' and a scene from 'Bloodborne.'

The Nintendo community is currently starving for news and looking ahead to the next proper Nintendo Direct. Known insider Nate the Hate suggested in a new podcast that while a new presentation could still be a few months away, the remainder of 2026 is going to be packed with notable releases, including a new Star Fox game. Unfortunately, the next Super Mario 3D game won't be among them and will supposedly only launch in 2027. "From what I have been hearing, it doesn't sound as though there is going to be a general direct in the immediate future… it doesn't […]

Nintendo reportedly planning Zelda Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2

27 March 2026 at 15:22

Nintendo has been pretty quiet on its first-party game line-up for the Switch 2 so far this year. That may start to change soon though. Recent leaks have claimed that Nintendo is currently developing a new Star Fox game, with plans to launch this summer, followed by a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time later in the year.Β

According to both VGC and Nate the Hate, Nintendo is working on a β€˜classic' Star Fox game for the Switch 2, with plans to launch this summer. If accurate, the game would be launching a few months after the Super Mario Galaxy movie, which is also set to feature Fox McCloud as a new character.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Zelda, Nintendo is also said to be planning a full remake of Ocarina of Time, one of the most beloved games in the entire series. This wouldn't be the first time that Nintendo has done this, as a version of the game had also been rebuilt for the 3DS. This remake however would target higher fidelity graphics, taking full advantage of the Switch 2's more powerful hardware.

While there is good news for Star Fox and Zelda fans, it sounds like Super Mario will be taking this year off. According to the same report, the next 3D Super Mario game is targeting a 2027 release window.

KitGuru Says: The next Nintendo Direct is unlikely to take place until June, so it will be a while before any of this is officially confirmed. If accurate though, it does sound like the Switch 2 is going to have a very successful second year on the market.Β
