Knockout City Makers Velan Studios Revealed as the Team Behind Star Fox, Demo Now Live on Nintendo Switch 2

9 June 2026 at 18:28

A character resembling a fox pilot in a futuristic cockpit with a blue sky backdrop.

Last month, in a surprise reveal, Nintendo announced yet another Star Fox remake simply titled 'Star Fox' for the Nintendo Switch 2. It was a shock reveal in its execution though less shocking in its content, since the latest Super Mario Galaxy Movie heavily featured the character, seemingly implying there was more Fox McCloud down the pipeline. Now, we're weeks away from its release date, and during today's Nintendo Direct, a demo for the game was announced and released for Switch 2 players, but it was after the Direct ended that we got the most interesting bit of information on […]

Star Fox (2026) — Everything We Know About Nintendo’s Star Fox 64 Remake

11 May 2026 at 19:30

Four characters from the game 'Star Fox' stand in front of a vivid orange backdrop with spaceships flying in the background.

After nearly a decade of dormancy, one of Nintendo's most beloved franchises is finally making its comeback. Star Fox was announced during a surprise Nintendo Direct in May 2026 as a full remake of the classic Star Fox 64, and it's coming sooner than anyone expected. Originally released on Nintendo 64 in 1997, Star Fox 64 put players in the cockpit of Fox McCloud's Arwing as he and his team fought to liberate the Lylat system from the exiled scientist Andross. The game previously received a 3DS remake in 2011 (Star Fox 64 3D); then there was Star Fox Zero, released for the Wii U in […]

Leaker reveals half a dozen Nintendo Switch 2 titles currently in the works

11 May 2026 at 10:15

In an unexpected announcement last week, Nintendo officially unveiled Star Fox: A remake of the 1997 N64 classic coming to Switch 2 in just over a month’s time. While a surprise to many, the title was technically leaked prior to its official announcement. According to the same insider, half a dozen other secret titles are currently in the works, including a new 3D Mario game scheduled for 2027.

Prior to its official announcement by Nintendo, leaker malo932 shared a list of roughly half a dozen Switch 2 titles which were said to be in the works. One of these games was reportedly a ‘classic’ Star Fox title set to arrive in June.

With Nintendo now officially announcing the remake, it stands to reason that the remainder of the leaks are also true. Of course, the list should still be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, according to the insider Nintendo has at least half a dozen other games in the works:

  • A Star Fox Adventure game (sometime after 2026)
  • The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake (2026)
  • New Switch Sports game (Summer 2026)
  • New 3D Mario game (2027)
  • Wario Land revival (possibly 2027)
  • Super Metroid Remake (said to be “close” to announcement)

Nintendo 2027

A number of these leaked titles were also later shared by known insider NateTheHate, lending further credence to their existence.

Nintendo’s strategy for the Switch 2 so far has been somewhat unusual, with the console maker focusing heavily on releasing Switch 2 Editions of past titles. That said, assuming these leaks to be true, Nintendo could have a pretty big 2027 – especially with a new 3D Mario reportedly on its way.

Nintendo announces new Star Fox game for Switch 2

7 May 2026 at 14:00

Just as leaks predicted, Nintendo does have a new Star Fox game on the way. The new game, simply titled Star Fox, is a bit of a reset for the series, acting as a full modern remake of Star Fox 64 and reintroducing the core characters for a new audience.

Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be the first game in the series in more than a decade. The game offers players a new cinematic take on Star Fox 64, complete with fully voiced dialogue, a new orchestral soundtrack, fresh cutscenes and more.

There are three main modes for Star Fox, a campaign, a challenge mode for testing your skills in mission replays and a battle mode for competing in 4v4 multiplayer fights.

There is no final release date for Star Fox just yet but the game is expected to be available later this year, potentially as early as this Summer. This year's big holiday season game for Nintendo is expected to be a new Zelda title.

KitGuru Says: Star Fox has returned, just as rumours predicted. Considering the character's appearance in the main cast of the Super Mario Galaxy movie, the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Nintendo Reimagines Star Fox Again With James McCloud Prologue & 4v4 Star Wolf Battles, Switch 2 Exclusive Drops June 2026

6 May 2026 at 22:35

Four characters from the game 'Star Fox' stand in front of a vivid orange backdrop with spaceships flying in the background.

Out of the blue, Nintendo shadowdropped a Star Fox Direct and revealed the previously rumored game. It's a remake of the original 1997 Nintendo 64 title, which may be a little confusing for some, since there were already a remake and a reimagining of that classic game. Anyway, Nintendo describes it as a "cinematic take" with fully voiced dialogue, a sweeping orchestral soundtrack, all-new cutscenes, and redesigned characters with a more animal-like aesthetic. It will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25, 2026. Among the game's additions is a prologue depicting a past mission involving James McCloud, Fox's father, that […]

Another animated Nintendo film is in the works; set to release in 2028

29 April 2026 at 08:00

While reception surrounding the recently-released Super Mario Galaxy Movie may have been less-than-stellar, the sequel film developed by Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment is an undeniable hit – currently sitting as the highest grossing film of the year with over $830 million and counting. As such, it comes as little surprise that a 3rd film seems to have been greenlit, with an untitled Nintendo/Illumination project set to arrive in 2028.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘ContractHolder’ Universal Pictures International Spain recently published a chart breaking down all of the distributor’s upcoming releases.

Though details so far are light, one of the projects listed is said to be an “untitled Illumination/Nintendo Event Film” with a release date currently scheduled for the 12th of April 2028.

Nintendo Mario

Whether this will be a direct sequel to the Super Mario Galaxy Movie or not is currently unknown, especially with the second film introducing a wider variety of Nintendo characters.

Regardless, unless the film in question winds up being an obscure Pikmin movie or something similar, expect whatever Nintendo has planned to once again easily make a Billion at the box office.

KitGuru says: Have you seen the Mario Galaxy film? How does it compare to the original? What do you think this untitled film is going to be? Let us know down below.

Nintendo and Illumination’s Next Movie is Already Set for April 2028, According to Universal

We're not even a calendar month away from the release of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it looks like Nintendo and Illumination already have a third movie set for 2028, according to an updated version of Universal's schedule on its Spanish website. Spotted by VGC, the updated schedule now lists "Untitled Illumination/Nintendo Event Film (April 2028)" on April 12, 2028. That could, of course, be the next Super Mario movie after Galaxy, or it could be the start of a new series like the rumoured Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and Metroid films. While we've not yet seen Samus appear […]

Nintendo will announce a new Star Fox game this month, leaker claims

8 April 2026 at 13:30

Towards the end of March, it was claimed that Nintendo has a secret new Star Fox game in development, coinciding with the character's appearance in the new Super Mario Galaxy movie. Now, the same leaker claims that the game will be announced later this month.

Nate the Hate has had a decent track record for leaks over the past few years. They were the first to talk about Oblivion Remastered and its shadow-drop release last year, and previously leaked details about Nintendo's Partner Showcase in early March.

Now, they are claiming that the new Star Fox game will be announced by Nintendo later this month. Apparently, the announcement will come via the Nintendo Today app, which Nintendo has been increasingly using to announce both new games, alongside other products like accessories and game content updates.

The last Star Fox game to come out was Star Fox Zero for the Wii U, all the way back in 2016, so this new game has likely been in the making for quite some time. Aside from a new Star Fox game, it is also reported that Nintendo will be releasing a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time as one of its big holiday season titles for 2026.

Insider offers a ton of updates on upcoming Nintendo plans

30 March 2026 at 11:15

Nintendo’s strategy for the Switch 2 has been somewhat different to that of the OG Switch, with the console maker seemingly taking a slower-paced approach to its game announcements / releases. As the Switch 2 nears its 2nd year on the market, known insiders have offered a ton of details on what to expect from Nintendo over the next year-or-so – including claims that FromSoftware’s much-anticipated Duskbloods is scheduled to arrive in 2026.

As reported by known industry insider NateDrake via their NateTheHate podcast, Nintendo appears to be set to have a relatively slow 2026, with the leaker claiming that the next general Nintendo Direct won’t be happening until June – 9 months on from the previous mainline Direct showcase.

That said, the next showcase could offer quite a few exciting announcements, with Nate teasing a number of in-development projects, including:

  • The return of Star Fox as a Switch 2 exclusive in 2026
  • Splatoon Raiders; Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave and Rhythm Heaven Groove arriving around Summer
  • Switch 2 Editions of Pikmin 4 and (potentially) Xenoblade Chronicles 2 planned for 2026
  • FromSoftware’s Duskbloods coming “later” in 2026
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launching in the second half of this year (though the scope of the project is unknown)
  • A new 3D Mario title coming some time in 2027

Nintendo 2026

Of course, all of these announcements are subject to change, and so we will have to wait until the next general Direct to learn more officially. That said, while the claim that a new 3D Mario not coming until some time next year is disappointing to see, the concept of a remake (or a re-remake) for Ocarina of Time is intriguing.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Nintendo’s rumoured plans for 2026? Would you be pleased assuming the above turned out to be true? What would you want from a Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time? Let us know down below.

Nintendo Switch 2 Super Mario 3D Game Rumored To Launch in 2027 After A Summer Packed With First-Party Games, Including a New Star Fox

27 March 2026 at 14:59

A collage of Nintendo video game characters including Mario in 'Super Mario Odyssey,' Inklings from 'Splatoon 3,' Fox McCloud from 'Star Fox,' a character from 'Fire Emblem Engage,' and a scene from 'Bloodborne.'

The Nintendo community is currently starving for news and looking ahead to the next proper Nintendo Direct. Known insider Nate the Hate suggested in a new podcast that while a new presentation could still be a few months away, the remainder of 2026 is going to be packed with notable releases, including a new Star Fox game. Unfortunately, the next Super Mario 3D game won't be among them and will supposedly only launch in 2027. "From what I have been hearing, it doesn't sound as though there is going to be a general direct in the immediate future… it doesn't […]

Nintendo reportedly planning Zelda Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2

27 March 2026 at 15:22

Nintendo has been pretty quiet on its first-party game line-up for the Switch 2 so far this year. That may start to change soon though. Recent leaks have claimed that Nintendo is currently developing a new Star Fox game, with plans to launch this summer, followed by a full remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time later in the year.

According to both VGC and Nate the Hate, Nintendo is working on a ‘classic' Star Fox game for the Switch 2, with plans to launch this summer. If accurate, the game would be launching a few months after the Super Mario Galaxy movie, which is also set to feature Fox McCloud as a new character.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Zelda, Nintendo is also said to be planning a full remake of Ocarina of Time, one of the most beloved games in the entire series. This wouldn't be the first time that Nintendo has done this, as a version of the game had also been rebuilt for the 3DS. This remake however would target higher fidelity graphics, taking full advantage of the Switch 2's more powerful hardware.

While there is good news for Star Fox and Zelda fans, it sounds like Super Mario will be taking this year off. According to the same report, the next 3D Super Mario game is targeting a 2027 release window.

KitGuru Says: The next Nintendo Direct is unlikely to take place until June, so it will be a while before any of this is officially confirmed. If accurate though, it does sound like the Switch 2 is going to have a very successful second year on the market.
