Sonic; Mega Man; Spyro; Crash and more to join Fortnite

17 August 2026 at 09:30

While Fortnite is well known for embracing pretty much any and all crossovers which it can get its hands on, the next Season appears to be its most ambitious in this regard. Following on from previous leaks, it appears as though Chapter 7 Season 4 of Fortnite will feature a plethora of ‘gaming legends’ including but not limited to Sonic the Hedgehog; Mega Man; Spyro and many more.

Releasing a brief trailer in anticipation of the upcoming update, Epic Games officially unveiled Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. Going live on the 20th of August, Season 4 will of course bring with it the expected suite of changes and additions, including new weapons, gadgets, map alterations and more.

Based on the trailer released however, Epic seems to be going all-in on the crossovers, with the map being entirely transformed with different regions – inspired by the included IPs.

Speaking of, while we will likely have to wait a bit for the entire line-up of characters, some of the franchises teased so far include:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Mega Man
  • Spyro the Dragon
  • Crash Bandicoot
  • Persona
  • Kingdom Hearts

Of course, this is far from the first time in which we’ve gotten ‘gaming legends’ in Fortnite, with past Chapters / Seasons bringing in characters from The Witcher; Pac-Man; Tomb Raider; Street Fighter; Mortal Kombat; Halo and more.

It will be interesting to see how Chapter 7 Season 4 is received when it officially arrives on the 20th of August.

Insider claims a new Crash Bandicoot game has been greenlit

11 June 2026 at 11:00

One of the most exciting announcements from Microsoft’s recent Xbox Games Showcase was the official unveiling of Spyro: A Realm Beyond – the first brand new entry in the iconic mascot platformer in almost two decades. Set to arrive sometime next year, insiders have now claimed that not only will Spyro be making his grand return, but so too will Crash Bandicoot, with a new game said to have been greenlit by Microsoft.

As reported by insider No Arms and No Legs (who recently accurately leaked the existence of the aforementioned Spyro the Dragon game), a new Crash Bandicoot title has reportedly been greenlit at Xbox. As of now, no further details have been provided, including which studio is responsible for the project.

For context, unlike Spyro, Crash has already had his revival, with 4 titles in total having been released since 2017’s N. Sane Trilogy Remake.

The aforementioned remake was developed by Vicarious Visions and released back in 2017 to solid reviews and excellent sales. Following this was 2019’s Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled – a remake of the 1999 original, developed by Beenox.

Then came Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in 2020: The first new and original entry in over a decade (developed by Toys For Bob). Last and also least was the multiplayer-focused Crash Team Rumble. This 2023 title was also developed by Toys For Bob, with them now moving on the recently-announced Spyro: A Realm beyond.

Given that Vicarious Visions essentially no longer exists, it begs the question as to which studio is working on this supposed new Crash game. Assuming it’s Toys For Bob, don’t expect an official announcement any time soon.

That said, if Beenox have been tasked with the project, then we could see it somewhat sooner. We will have to wait to find out. In the meantime, fans of classic mascot platformers will have Spyro to look forward to.
