The Amazon Prime Video God of War TV series has hit a major snag as Kratos actor Ryan Hurst suffered an injury during production. More specifically, he reportedly tore a bicep in late June during a stunt (allegedly while carrying a tree); he has since undergone surgery, but the recovery period will take up to six months, making it unfeasible for the production to keep the actor. All the way back in 2017, around the same time that IO Interactive split off from Square Enix and became an independent studio, a Hitman TV series had been quietly announced. Considering how long it has been since then, it wouldn't surprise me if absolutely everyone had forgot about it. If you had kept it in mind and were looking forward to it though, then we have unfortunate news for you. 

Hollywood trade outlet, The Direct, has learned that the Hitman TV series has been cancelled. Hulu had acquired the rights to make a new TV series based on the videogame series back in 2017. For years, the creator behind John Wick had been attached to the project but now almost ten years later, plans for the series have been scrapped.

It is unclear how long the show has been ‘cancelled' for, as very little had happened with it in the years since its announcement. While the creator of John Wick, Derek Kolstad, had been attached and was still interested in moving forward with it, executives at Hulu and Disney opted to not move forward with the project.

While we won't be seeing a Hitman series anytime soon, IO Interactive has continued to bring new content to its game, Hitman: World of Assassination. On top of that, the studio is now set to release a James Bond game later this year, titled 007: First Light.

KitGuru Says: Hitman has had a number of rather poor film adaptations over the years. A TV show may have worked a bit better, presenting more opportunity to grow Agent 47's character compared to 2-hour blockbuster.

We have our first look at the upcoming live-action God of War series set to air on Amazon Prime. Unfortunately, the reveal hasn't gone down entirely well.

The first in-character shot of Kratos and his son, Atreus, has been released as part of an early marketing push for the God of War TV series. The show was already ordered for two seasons and it is expected that these seasons will follow the events of the 2018 God of War game and its 2022 sequel, God of War: Ragnarok.

The official synopsis for the show says: “Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”

There is no word yet on when the first season will premiere but if filming is happening now, then chances are we will be watching the first episode in around a year's time.

KitGuru Says: While this isn't necessarily a frame-grab from a fully shot and edited scene, it does give us an idea of the costume and make-up design. I expect the final show to look better with all of the special effects in place.
