Mark Hamill reportedly set to join Twisted Metal Season 3

16 June 2026 at 10:00

Twisted Metal has been one of PlayStation’s more successful attempts to branch out into adaptations based on its IPs, with the Peacock-distributed show seeing high praise and record viewership numbers across its two Seasons. Despite some major shake-ups on the creative side of things, Season 3 of Twisted Metal looks to be going ahead, with Mark Hamill reportedly set to join the cast.

According to Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider via the ‘Insneider’ newsletter (paywalled), Mark Hamill is set to join Season 3 of Peacock’s Twisted Metal TV show. As of now, no exact details on his role have been revealed, though according to Sneider Hamill will likely “be playing Charles Kane, the father of Sweet Tooth.”

As mentioned, the Twisted Metal show saw a ton of success following the arrival of its first Season back in 2023, becoming Peacock’s “most binged” show at the time while amassing solid reviews across the board.

Its second Season (released last year) saw an even greater reception, landing with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%. A 3rd Season of the show was quickly greenlit following this, however it is set to come alongside some pretty big changes behind the scenes.

As reported late last year, Twisted Metal Season 3 is not being handled by the same creatives, with showrunner and co-creator Michael Jonathan Smith being replaced by David Reed. Additionally, Mike Mitchell (who portrayed the character Stu) confirmed a few months ago that he would not be returning for Season 3.

Given the many changes which have occurred behind-the-scenes between the successful arrival of Season 2 and the upcoming Season 3, it will be interesting to see how reception towards the series changes moving forward.

Jason Momoa is no longer starring in Sony’s Helldivers film

10 June 2026 at 10:30

Back at the start of 2026, it was reported that Sony had cast Jason Momoa to star in the console maker’s upcoming Helldivers film. Set to come to cinemas in November of next year, the Justin Lin-directed movie seems to have run into some setbacks, with its lead actor reportedly no longer attached to the project.

Back in 2025, Sony officially announced that they were producing a film based on the highly successful Helldivers 2. While little was revealed at the time, the publication Deadline later reported that the film would be directed by Justin Lin (of Fast and Furious fame), with Jason Momoa (known for the likes of Fast and Furious; Dune; Aquaman and A Minecraft Movie) taking on the lead role.

Unfortunately, plans seem to have changed, with Deadline now revealing that Momoa is no longer involved in the project, citing the reason for his departure as being “unknown.”

In a bit of positive news, the project appears to still be “very much alive” with Sony now “searching for their new star.”

As mentioned, the Helldivers film was originally planned to release in November of 2027. With Momoa now exiting the project and no replacement currently in place, it begs the question as to whether the Helldivers film will wind up being delayed. It will be interesting to see who they end up getting as the new lead.
