SteelSeries Aeon Pro Brings Smart New Controller Design to Xbox and PC

By: Bahleem
9 September 2026 at 12:29

SteelSeries has launched a new premium gaming controller aimed at players who switch between Xbox and PC. Called the Aeon Pro, the controller combines a new dock system with replaceable batteries and several features designed for competitive gaming.

The biggest highlight is SteelSeries’ QuickSwitch Dock System, which is designed to make moving between PC and Xbox easier. The company describes it as the world’s first QuickSwitch Dock System for these two platforms, with the technology currently patent pending.

The Aeon Pro went on sale on September 8, 2026, in Black and White through SteelSeries and selected retailers.

SteelSeries Aeon Pro controller 1

The Aeon Pro is built around its QuickSwitch Dock, which is one of the controller’s main selling points. It is designed for gamers who regularly use more than one gaming system.

Instead of treating the controller as a simple wireless gamepad, SteelSeries has built the dock into the overall experience. This gives players a dedicated place to keep the controller ready between gaming sessions.

Another major feature is what SteelSeries calls its Infinite Power System.

The controller comes with two hot-swappable batteries. While one battery is being used, the other can be swapped in when needed. This setup is meant to reduce the downtime that normally comes with waiting for a controller to recharge.

For gamers who spend long hours playing, this could be one of the more useful features of the Aeon Pro.

Hall Effect Sticks and Mechanical Controls

SteelSeries has also focused heavily on the controller’s controls.

The Aeon Pro uses Hall Effect thumbsticks, which are designed to provide precise movement while reducing the risk of traditional stick drift. The controller also uses mechanical switches across its controls, giving buttons a faster and more tactile feel.

The triggers are designed for responsive input as well, making the controller suitable for both everyday gaming and competitive play.

OLED Screen Adds Quick Access to Settings

A small onboard OLED display gives users access to profiles and controller settings without having to rely entirely on another device.

Players can use the screen to switch between customized profiles and access different controller options. This should make it easier to change settings while moving between different games.

Modular Thumbsticks Let Players Change the Feel

The Aeon Pro also comes with a modular stick system.

Users can choose between:

  • Standard concave thumbsticks
  • Tall concave thumbsticks
  • Short convex thumbsticks

The extra sticks can be stored directly in the controller’s dock. This gives players a simple way to change the feel and height of the sticks depending on the type of game they are playing.

Back Buttons and Custom Controls

The controller includes contoured back buttons that can be remapped for different functions. These controls can be configured directly through the OLED menu on Xbox or PC.

SteelSeries also provides its GG software for more detailed customization on PC. Users can adjust button and trigger functions, create profiles, change rumble intensity across the four motors, and configure power settings.

The software also includes GG and Sonar integrations for users who want to customize more of their gaming setup.

A Grip Designed for Long Gaming Sessions

SteelSeries has given the Aeon Pro a wrap-around textured grip. The goal is to keep the controller secure in the hands during gameplay, particularly during fast movements.

This is another area where the company is positioning the Aeon Pro as a premium controller rather than a basic Xbox or PC gamepad.

SteelSeries Aeon Pro Price and Availability

The SteelSeries Aeon Pro is available in Black and White starting September 8, 2026.

Its announced prices are:

  • North America: $259.99
  • UK: £229.99
  • EMEA: €259.99
  • APAC: $259.99

That puts the Aeon Pro firmly in the premium controller category. Its QuickSwitch dock, dual hot-swappable batteries, Hall Effect sticks, OLED display, and modular controls are clearly aimed at gamers willing to pay more for extra flexibility.

Final Thoughts

The SteelSeries Aeon Pro is an ambitious entry from SteelSeries, especially for players who regularly move between Xbox and PC. Its combination of a dedicated dock, replaceable batteries, Hall Effect sticks, mechanical controls, and onboard customization gives it a feature set that goes well beyond a standard controller.

The biggest question will be whether these extras justify its $259.99 starting price. For gamers who want one premium controller for both Xbox and PC, however, the Aeon Pro offers a compelling new option.

3 September 2026 at 04:01

Microsoft has officially launched the Xbox Cozy Collection, a new lineup of gaming accessories designed around soft, nature-inspired colors and a more relaxed gaming style. The collection is now available and brings together products from 8BitDo, SteelSeries, and KontrolFreek.

Rather than being a single type of accessory, the collection covers keyboards, mice, controllers, earbuds, and thumb grips. Each product gets a matching color theme while keeping the features gamers would expect from these brands.

8BitDo Brings Keyboards, Mice and Controllers

8BitDo has added three products to the Xbox Cozy Collection. Two of them use the Forest Wonder color theme, including the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard and Retro R8 Mouse.

Xbox Cozy Collection 4

The Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard features co-developed Kailh tactile switches and a hot-swappable PCB, allowing users to change switches without replacing the entire keyboard. It also includes programmable Super Buttons, a separate control panel, and RGB lighting.

Xbox Cozy Collection 13

The Retro R8 Mouse comes with a charging dock and Huano micro switches. It also has a magnetic adapter compartment, giving users a simple way to keep the wireless adapter with the mouse.

For players looking for a controller, the 8BitDo Ultimate 3 Controller comes in the Mossy Lagoon theme. It features an improved grip, adjustable joystick tension, and a wireless charging dock. The controller supports wired and wireless connections on Xbox and PC, while Bluetooth connectivity is available for mobile devices.

Xbox Cozy Collection 3

SteelSeries Adds Matcha and Yuzu Gamebuds

SteelSeries is also part of the Xbox Cozy Collection with its Arctis GameBuds, now offered in Matcha and Yuzu color options.

Xbox Cozy Collection 2

The wireless earbuds feature Active Noise Cancellation and can quickly switch between 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.3. They also support 360-degree spatial audio and have an IP55 rating for water and dust resistance.

Battery life is rated at up to 40 hours in total, while the Arctis Companion App provides access to more than 200 audio presets for different games and listening preferences.

KontrolFreek Completes the Collection

KontrolFreek rounds out the Xbox Cozy Collection with its No-Slip Thumb Grips. The grips are available in matching Matcha and Yuzu colors and use the company’s GripTek material to provide a more secure feel on controller thumbsticks.

Xbox Cozy Collection

With several types of gaming accessories included, the Xbox Cozy Collection gives players an easy way to build a matching setup without sticking to a single brand. The products are available now through the participating brands and retailers.

This model features an independent control panel, RGB backlighting, programmable super buttons, and Kailh tactile switches. When paired with the keyboard, the Retro R8 mouse includes a matching charging dock and four programmable side buttons. A SteelSeries Wireless Keyboard Battery Ended Up Swelling From Being Plugged In All The Time, Owner Wanted Lower Input Lag But Paid A Hefty Price For This Preference

17 August 2026 at 20:54

A SteelSeries wireless keyboard developed a bloated battery because of being plugged in for too long

A wireless mechanical keyboard gives you the liberty to experience that tactile feedback while also not being forced to remain tethered to a single place, but at the expense of increased input delay. For one owner of a rather expensive SteelSeries keyboard, reduced latency was more important, meaning it had to remain plugged in. Unfortunately, the excessive charging and discharging caused the battery to swell, turning a rather pricey purchase into a dud, at least until the replacement component arrives. The flawed PCB design of the wireless SteelSeries keyboard prevents it from being used in wired mode until the battery replacement arrives A SteelSeries […]
